Chapter 5, enjoy!
"Thank you for ironing my shirt Mrs. T," Tim told Tami as he watched her iron his white button up shirt he waited until the last minute to gather up.
"You're welcome," She replied as she sat the iron down. "Now don't wrinkle it again!" She scolded him as he yanked it off the ironing board. He straightened it back ip and placed it on a hanger. "Eric, need anything ironed?" She asked her husband who was sitting in the living room.
Tim carried the shirt down the hall and into the room he and Julie shared. Julie was down the hall in the nursery trying to put RaeLynn down for a nap. He began sifting through various drawers searching for all the things he needed for the wedding.
"Could you be any louder?" Julie whispered walking into the doorway with her sleeping daughter in her arms as Tim slammed another drawer shut.
"Sorry," He whispered back as he shuffled the papers on her desk.
"What are you looking for?"
"My speech, I left it on here last night."
"Let me go put her down and then I'll help you," She told him. "I swear you loose everything," She mumbled as she returned to the nursery. Julie placed RaeLynn in her crib and went back to her bedroom.
"So where did you last have this speech at?" Julie asked.
"On the desk." Tim moved aside and allowed Julie to search over the numerous papers that had once been in nice, neat stacks.
"Well it's not here," She reported after not being able to find the speech.
"Damn it! That took me three days to write!"
"Did you have it anywhere else?"
"Not that I remember," Tim replied, now in slight panic mode. "I have to leave in 30 minutes," He added as he frantically searched around the room.
"It's right here idiot," She announced after finding it on the nightstand. "Now you better get dressed before you have to leave," She added.
Tim proceeded to change jnto his nearly all white suit. Julie helped him tie his pink bowtie, flattened out the suit jacket, and placed his speech in his pocket.
"You look very nice, Tim," She told him.
"Thanks," He told her before placing a kiss on her lips. "I've gotta be going. I will see you there."
"See ya," She replied as he disappeared down the hall and out of the house, her mom complimenting him on how he looked on his way out.
Julie tended to her daughter's needs all morning and waited for he time to come for her to get ready for the wedding. Finally, it was time for her to prepare to leave.
She dug into her closet in search of a dress to wear. She finally settled on a knee length, dark green dress. She put on her makeup and did her hair before slipping into dress. She stood before the mirror, suddenly feeling very self conscious.
"Hey," Tami peeked her head into the room as Julie stared back at the mirror that revealed her body which was still carrying around some baby weight and made Julie feel very self conscious. "Are you ready?"
"Almost," Julie replied, not taking her eyes off the mirror.
"Shelley is here and we probably need to be leaving," Tami told her. "You look great!" Tami exclaimed, making Julie feel slightly better.
"I'm ready," She told her mom as she followed her into the living room where her aunt Shelley was waiting.
"You look pretty Jules!" Shelley complimented.
"Thanks," Julie replied.
"I think this one is yours for the next couple of hours," Eric stated as he handed RaeLynn over to Shelley.
"Aunt Shell and RaeLynn are going to have fun tonight, aren't we?" She said to the baby.
"Her bottle is in the fridge, she will need to take another nap sometime , and all of her stuff is in the nursery," Julie told Shelley. "If you need anything you can call me, I will have my phone with me and I will be back by 8."
"Got it," Shelley responded. "Now you go have fun!" She told Julie who trailed behind her parents out the door. As soon as Julie was out of sight, RaeLynn burst into tears. It broke Julie's heart that her leaving cause her daughter to cry, for a second she even contemplated staying home, but she finally pulled the door shut and got into her car.
The wedding was beautiful. Julie hoped to have a wedding of her own someday, every time she witness a wedding, it got the gears turning in her mind about what she wanted her wedding to be like.
So far, the reception was good. The ribeyes were amazing and the chance to socialize with people was good for Julie.
"Looks like Tim's going to give his speech," Tami stated as Tim took the microphone from the band. Tim pulled the wrinkly speech paper from the pocket of his jacket and held it with slightly shaky hands.
"Uh, good evening everyone. I think you all know, but I'm Tim, Billy's little brother and Best Man," Tim started, his voice revealing his nervousness from having to come up with an intro on the fly. "Mindy, you've got yourself a good man here," He said, turning to face the newlyweds. "When Billy was 18 and I was 11, our dad left Billy to take care of me. Billy had a athletic scholarship to play golf at San Antonio State, but he dropped it to take care of me. Billy, you were not only a brother to me, but you were like a father to me, more of a father than our biological one," At this point, Tim was beginning to get emotional. Julie never realized how close the brothers were. "You are an amazing brother. An awesome uncle, your little niece loves her Uncle Billy. Seeing the way you raised me and the way you are with RaeLynn, you will be a great father one day. You will be an wonderful husband to Mindy. I'm proud to call you my brother and I can't wait to see you and Mindy live your lives together."
The room rang out with applause as Tim handed the microphone over to Tyra so she could give her Maid of Honor speech. Tyra's give her speech, she too got emotional in the middle of hers.
After the speeches and cake cutting festivities, Julie was getting ready to leave when Tim approached her.
"That was a great speech," She told him.
"Thanks," He replied. "Wanna dance?" He asked when they began playing a slow song.
"Sure," She answered with a smile. He took her hand and led her onto the dance floor where he gently placed his hands around her waist and she put hers around his neck. They began dancing and she rested her head on the soft material of his suit.
That song ended and another one began, and before long, the band announced that it would be the last song.
Julie broke away from Tim, realizing how much time had passed.
"I told Shelley I'd be home by 8."
"It's fine, just stay for the last song," Tim replied.
"But-" Julie began to argue.
"She'll be fine," Tim interrupted her.
"Ok," Julie reluctantly agreed.
After the last song, Julie and Tim parted and the lights came on.
"I will meet you at home," Tim told her.
"Ok, see you there," She replied before leaving the venue and getting in her car. She hurried home, anxious to see her daughter.
When she got home, she walked in the house and found Tami, Eric, and Shelley all quietly sitting in the living room.
"She's asleep," Tami whispered "How was the wedding?"
"Good. Sorry I'm late, time got away from me," Julie replied as Tim came in the house. Tami also warned him about the sleeping infant.
"It's fine honey, you needed some time with just Tim," Shelley told her.
Julie and Tim quietly went to their room and changed into their pjs, exhausted from their day.
Once they were curled up in bed, Julie reflected on the day and the beautiful wedding they both witnessed.
"The wedding was beautiful," Julie whispered.
"It was," Tim quietly agreed.
"Do you ever think about getting married and what your wedding would look like?"
"You mean our wedding."
"What?" Julie asked, confused by Tim's correction.
"You said my wedding, I think you meant our wedding," Tim clarified. "Because I want to marry you," He added. His eyes had adjusted to the dark enough to see Julie's shocked face. "I mean eventually, not like right now."
"But Tim, we're so young."
"I know, that's why I said eventually."
"But what if we grow apart over time? I'm 18, you're 19, I'm not even out of high school. You're the only guy I've ever-"
"Julie, look at us. We have an amazing relationship, a beautiful daughter, and we've survived high school with a kid."
"You've survived high school with a kid, I've still got a year," Julie corrected him.
"My point is, our relationship has endured a lot of things and I can't imagine my life without you by my side."
"Aww that's sweet Tim," Julie sleepily replied as she snuggled closer to him before eventually drifting off to seep.
