Chapter 9, enjoy! I think you all knew what is about to happen was coming, I kinda suck at subtle foreshadowing
After the BBQ, Tami was taking off her make up as Eric was climbing into bed.
"I've been thinking," She began. "You are so desperate for a assistant coach-"
"But the school doesn't have a budget for one."
"Just hear me out," She replied, turning to face him.
"How can I have an assistant coach if the school doesn't have the money to pay them?"
"Tim," She simply answered.
"What?"
"Tim can be your assistant coach," She repeated. "I think it's what he really wants to do. I remember when I was trying to get both their futures in order before they had that baby, he said something about maybe wanting to coach in the future. And tonight he was talking you up to that Cafferty kid, telling him that you will take this new team to state. And if you can't pay him, that's alright because we give him food and a place to stay."
"That's not a bad idea," He replied.
"I never have a bad idea," Tami responded with a smirk.
"And he did come to our practice the other day."
"I don't think he'll admit it for Julie or RaeLynn's sake, but he's missing football."
"I will ask him in the morning. Wait, but what about RaeLynn? If he's watching her during the day how can he come to practice?"
"We can find her daycare."

The next morning, Julie and Tami had already left for school leaving Tim and Eric in the kitchen.
"So, what did you think of the team when you came out to practice the other day?" Eric asked breaking the silence.
"They're not bad, they just need a little bit of time to be able to work as a team," Tim replied.
"I agree. From being at practice the other day, you know that I don't have an assistant and that its kind of a struggle for me to keep up with both offense and defense and be able to give them both the attention they deserve. I wouldn't be able to pay you, but what would you think about being my assistant."
"Are you serious Coach?"
"Yes."
"I would love to."
"Tami is working on finding a daycare for RaeLynn so you could come to practice, and then you could go back to working with Billy during the day to make some extra cash. I've got to be going, but come by the field when Julie or Tami get home from school," He replied before exiting the house.
Tim looked down to the infant resting on his hip. "Daddy's going to be a coach just like Grandpa," He excitedly told her. "You have football running deep in your blood baby girl."
The father daughter duo spent the morning playing and napping. Tim was heating up her bottle around lunch time when the front door creaked open.
"It looks like mommy came to eat lunch with us Rae Rae," Tim told the baby. "How has your day been so dar?" He asked Julie who took her daughter from Tin's arms and sat down at the bar.
"Pretty good, I had study hall last hour so I worked on college applications the whole time. I got them sent, so I should hear back in a couple months."
"That's great Julie, and I'm sure you will get an acceptance letter from each of them, any college would be lucky to have you," He told his girlfriend causing her to blush. "Your dad offered me a position as his assistant coach this morning."
"Really? That's great!" She exclaimed.
"I won't get paid until they cab fit it in the budget, but I can try it out and see if it is something I want to pursue as a career."
"Look at us, planning our futures," She chuckled as she smoothed down a stray brown hair on her daughter's head.
"It's called adulting," He replied.
"She made us grow up quick, but I wouldn't change it."
"Me either. I had to shift my focus to what was important to me, and find out what was important to me."
"What's important to you?" Julie asked.
"You, Rae, Billy, Mindy," He replied. "And football," He added.
"Awww how sweet. My lunch is almost over, want to slap a ham sandwich together for me?"
"I'd love to," He replied with a chuckle before assembling her a ham sandwich.
"Oh my God, Tim."
"What?"
"Do you realize what day it is?" Julie asked.
"I guess I don't..." He replied with a look of confusion across his face.
"It's the day we found out I was pregnant."
"Wow, it's been a year already."
"It feels like just a couple weeks ago. I remember how scared I was, and you told you you'd be there for me every step of the way, and you have and I'm so thankful for that."
"I was scared too. I've never gotten that drunk on a school night, or at least while we dated."
"You got drunk that night?" She asked.
"Yeah, I was scared and I drank until I fell asleep."
"But it turned out to be ok," She replied as she placed a kiss on her daughters head.
"It did," Tim replied with a smile.
