Chapter 8

Mary was a bit nervous. After she said the location, she was told to wait till he messaged her again. It made her excited, but also worried. Luckily she was able to somewhat distract herself with doing things around home and just paying attention to her school work. Though she noticed that her theater teacher seems to be looking out for her more. Even to the point that her classmates start to make jokes that they were dating. Luckily it wasn't that far to the point the school got into it, but it made her somewhat get nervous.

"So, let me get this straight… You told him the place, but you didn't get a message back?"

"Yeah, but he said it was because he was busy so maybe it has something to do with it." Leah sighed at this, and leaned back. "You know you're lucky that I know you don't know shit about dudes." Mary glared at her as she said this. "He has lots of money, and is able to get a jet. What is stopping him?"

"I don't know. Besides, you know he's the head of some medicine company."

"A company that is known to research… How about when he messages you the time that I tag along?" Mary couldn't help to raise an eye brow at this. "You said that you'll drive me there anyways."

"Oh right… I forgot." Mary shoved her. As much as she loved her friend at times her over-protectiveness takes over without realizing what she said beforehand. "Besides, don't you have that date with-"

Her phone started to vibrate a bit, and she pulled it out. She noticed it was him, and opened it.

Solomon: How does Friday night at 8 pm sound?

She looked at Leah, and tried her best to at least think of another day. Of course Leah noticed the look, and looked at the message. Her face changed, and gave a small nod. "Alright. We can do that."

"But your date with-"

"I can reschedule it May. Besides, we're still on your love life." Mary could feel her cheeks blush slightly. "I don't have a crush on him. He said that he knows about my past."

"Sure… And I'm your secret long lost sister." Mary smiled, and rolled her eyes. "I thought it was that you were my long lost mother?" This cause Leah to push her. "Come on! I need to at least see Jake do his practice." Mary followed her, but she stopped when she could have sworn she saw Mr. Mahlar staring at her. She looked to see that no one was nearby the bushes. She gulped, and start to follow Leah again.

"So you already set a day to get our Mary?"

"Yes, though I sense there was a reason for the call." Nathan was a bit annoyed, but knew that if Solomon was getting her meant that Amshel was requesting it or it was a perfect time. "Seems our Mary has gotten a friend to go with her… I can set up a task that requires her, but it'll be tricky." Even more so when this girl isn't nowhere in his students list. Only Mary is.

"She already distrusts the family she lives with. I'm sure she won't mind going alone." This made Nathan pause a bit. Usually, Solomon would at least expect something to go wrong in some way. Yet…

"Do you want our Mary to come back so soon? She seems to have no memory. It'll be dangerous for her to return." Even more so if Diva soon wakes up and realizes that she has no memory over her. "I'm sure we will be able to calm her. After all, she will know that her sister is back."

"Solomon. You remember what our task is?" He could hear the wheels turning. God this boy really change after they gotten Mary away from him. "To get her back, keep her safe, and to make sure no dangers get close to her. Right now, you seem to be missing one of them."

"I expect every danger." He could hear the slight anger in his voice. "Even more so when those people had messed with her head to change her."

"Even so, she at least has been treated well." Not well to his own standards, but enough to well she was well cared for by minimal. "Even if she would want you to cause them harm, or if you want to hurt them. Remember they cared for her." He hung up the phone, and sighed.

Usually Soloman had a plan for everything. Even more so when Mary seemed to at least not worry about herself, and only worry about Diva. Now though… Seems that something switched. Was it due to her being gone that change him? Or was it more.

"If only you were here Lily…" He looked at the ceiling as he said this. He knew the reason of their mother's death. After all, he was there. The only thing that saved her body was the children inside of her. The children that he promised to keep safe.

Some would say he failed, but he hasn't truly failed. Not through Mary. Not the daughter that looked just like the woman who turned him.

"May can you throw the trash?"

"Yeah dad give me a minute!" She made sure at least she was almost done with one problem, and went to do so. "Oh, May?" She stopped to look at him. "Tomorrow is your night. So what do you want?" She completely forgotten about that. With Solomon and with noticing things, she somewhat became distant. She was glad that at least it was around semester exams, so they won't be worried. "How about… That soup that mom used to make?"

"Again? We made that last time when it was your turn." She couldn't help to smile a bit at this. "Yeah, but then we don't have to worry about it till the next few days." She start to get the bag, and made sure at least it was closed right. "Mary." She stopped to look at her dad.

"You know you can come to me for anything right?" She gulped, and gave a nod. "Yeah..."

"I know your dreams are getting worse, and we're not getting answers. So how about tomorrow we go to that festival?"

"But isn't tomorrow the last day?" He smiled at this. "Last days we get all the food and bears." She couldn't help to smile at this. "Alright… Though can it be early? Leah wanted to study in the park this time."

"Study? Are you sure this is the same Leah?"

"Yes Rob." He raised his hands up. "Fine fine… But tomorrow you have to clean the basement." She couldn't help to make a slight face. "Oh come on!"

As usual, dinner was good. Then again that soup always made her feel good. While they weren't her real family, the food they made always hit a spot for her. Like as if she was at home with them. Even to the point she got an extra bowl for herself.

She was about to take another bite till her phone vibrated. She made sure the bowl was on the desk, and checked to see it was Solomon.

Solomon: Be sure to bring items that you'll want to keep.

Now this confused her. She knew that she was going to meet with him, but to bring items?

Mary: Alright, but why?

Solomon: Would you want to be with a family who lied to you? A family that lied to be a part of the family when they know who you are?

This caused her to slightly gulp. While she didn't like it, she still cared for them. After all, they might not be related, but cared for her all the same.

Mary: I know they're not my family, but they cared for me.

Solomon: Do you remember when we first met?

She could feel her body tense up at this.

Solomon: The Mary that I knew would want to know the truth. Not be fed by lies. Even more so when they had been using you.

Using her? How could they be using her? She gulped, and start to message that till he sent another message.

Solomon: Your real family has been looking for you. Your sister has been wanting to see you for so long. Don't you want to be with your real family?

Oh god I finally reached over where I wanted to work over the damn chapters in this site. While the first time I posted this fanfic, I noticed I rushed things way too fast… Sorry about that, but I'm in the grove to at least redo this, and finally fix it.

I also posted this fanfic within Ao3 with the same title and author. I hope to at least you enjoy reading this! ^.^
