Chapter 9

Mary haven't replied at that. If anything that has been running through her head for a good amount of time. She has a sister?

A sister that no one has really told about. She had always thought she was an only child, but… Having a sister?

"May." She snapped out of her thought, and looked at Rachel. "I guess you don't like this jacket."

"Sorry I'm just thinking on something." She noticed how she was looking at her, which caused her to give her a weak smile. "Um… Which jacket was it?"

"This one." She looked to see that it was just a normal jacket. Though there was a small detail on it. "Wow… Wait, how the hell is this in Goodwill out of all places." She went to look at it. It was one of those jackets that was rare to find. Along with the price range being high for just 3 of them. She went to touch it to see at least who ever owned it, they took good care of it. "So you want it or not?"

"I mean if you want to sell it off on a higher-" She felt a shove, which caused Mary to smile a bit. "As if… Hold on my bag for a bit." She knew what she was going to do, and went to hold it for her. Seeing that it barely fit her. "Damn… So much for that…"

"You try it on." She was a bit confused. "Wait, what?"

"You basically been wearing the same clothes that make you blend in. Come on. Try it. For me?" Mary was about to say no till she noticed the puppy eyes. "Fine… Here." She handed her bag back, and went to try it on. It was a big on her, but it fit. Even with the arm length, which normally never fit. It was either too long or too short.

"I'll buy it."

"Wait what? But Rach you said this is just to-"

"Nope. You getting this jacket and you'll like it." Mary gave a small glare since she knew what that meant. "You're saving for trying to leave. You can't spend some of it on me."

"Oh calm down. I'll be fine. Besides, it's not like I'm about to use that money that he's attached to." She stayed silent as she knew what she meant. While her and Rob had bank accounts, Mary didn't have one. It wasn't that she wasn't really required to have one, but more so that since with the odd case of hers… It was better to her to not have one. At least from what she was told. Though with Solomon's words it was getting harder and harder to get everything. The only thing that kept her from not screaming to them was how they treated her. Not as what he would describe as 'lying' or 'tricking' her. Just like as if she was really part of her family.

After shopping in different stores, they were on the food court. "So, you're going to stay with Leah all night?"

"Yeah, we figured since we needed to study more than just math then we can just stay at her home. Her mom is okay with it." Mary took a bite of her burger as she somewhat explained it. "Does dad at least know about it?"

"Yeah, remember I had to pack my extra clothes?" She didn't notice how Rachel was looking at her. It was one thing that at least she was able to somewhat hide from what she feels from others…

"Still weird that your dreams stopped. Did something happen." Mary stopped a bit. Fuck. Those dreams did stop, but it was replaced with something else. Something that she didn't really know how to even get help. At least she was able to pretend it wasn't there, but other times, she could feel like she would just break down and cry. It was just jarring, but making her just wanting to follow it. "I don't know… I mean, I guess that meditation worked?" She noticed Rach smiled. "See? I told you it'll help! So what's next yoga?"

"I'm not about to go outside and do that!" She blushed as she noticed her snickering. "Oh come on. It's not that bad. As long you have headphones on-"

"RACH!" She really wished she could have thrown something at her, but it cause them to look at each other than break into slight giggles.

"Just promise me if something is up that you'll come to me first." This caused her to be confused. "Don't I already do that?"

"I mean after I leave. Don't worry, I'll text you when I get a new number." She was a bit worried, but gave a nod to her. "But… Won't you be busy for a few weeks?"

"Yeah, but as long if we text to each other we should be good. Plus, I still need someone to at least ground me." Mary gave a small smile at this. Wishing that at least she could tell her the truth, but she needed to figure out things herself.

At least she isn't a part of the whole deal of lying to her. Rob on the other hand…

Things have been going well. Solomon and Nathan had things set up, but the issue was that girl. He knew Nathan would handle it, but they needed to do this carefully. "Has our Princess told us the date?"

"No. She hasn't, but if she's-"
"I already have that idea of how to make sure she's alone. Don't worry your head about it." Though this caused Solomon to stop. "I'm still curious of why Amshel would want her now…"

"Our Queen is waking up. Of course he'll want her close to our Diva." He stayed silent at this. "Even so, Mary isn't known to do battles. Her blood protects herself from her blood while it harms them."

"Even so, she's a valuable asset if she's in the wrong hands. It's best to get her now before they realize that she's of use to them."

"Sounds like you thought of this before." He noticed how this quiet Nathan. Making him look at the window. "I've been her Chevalier since she turned me. Since then I looked into how she works, but also to protect her. Every time I see her wake up from her slumber, she grows. Yet this time, they harmed her growth." Solomon was confused. He figured that he was the first of her Chevalier, but he had a feeling there was more to it. "So believe me, everything I will do is to protect her. Even if it means that I would need to hurt others."
"Yet our actions are different to protect her."
"You care for her. That I'm grateful for. If Amshel was her Chevalier, she'll be the same as Diva. It was fortunate that Diva cared for him more. The only shame that came out was that Saya wants to kill them both."

And that was one thing that they won't ever allow. Not for Diva's sake. No. They needed her to live for everyone's sake.
