A/N- I decided it would be a good idea to have a chapter from Ginny's POV !
Ginny opened her eyes to see herself in her bedroom at the Burrow, she looked down at her small hands and realized that it had actually worked! It only took a few minutes to realize she wasn't able to be with Harry, Ron and Hermione at Hogwarts to help make the changes needed to save the world until the next year.
There has to be something I can do Ginny thought to herself, and started going through all the books she had, it took awhile to find anything useful, but then when she was flipping through Hogwarts, A History she finally found it, it was just a small section of the book and she had almost missed it completely.
In rare occasions a student may be permitted to start Hogwarts up to one year early, if said student can prove to have the necessary knowledge and power. Students are only considered if they can pass the advanced placement exams without attending school first.
That was just what she needed! Of course she could pass the advanced placement exams, she had been a sixth year after all when they got sent back in time. She decided to write a letter to Professor McGonagall immediately.
Dear Professor McGonagall
My name is Ginevra Weasley, and I read in Hogwarts, A History that
A student could attend Hogwarts a year early if they could pass
An advanced placement exam and I believe I could.
I've been reading my older brothers school books for years now, and
Have memorized many spells and wand movements, as well as
The theory behind all of the subjects. I should have owled before the
Start of the year but I didn't realize it was an option until today.
Please do let me know if this is something I could try to do,
I would hate to waste a year of my life that could have been spent
Learning in the castle, and becoming the witch I was born to be.
Kind Regards
Ginevra Weasely
She ran downstairs and attached the letter to McGonagall, (along with a letter to Harry) to Errol, the family owl before watching him haphazardly fly away towards Scotland. She hoped she would hear back from the professor soon.
The next day a very stern looking Professor McGonagall floo'd to the Burrow.
"Minerva!" Her mum exclaimed. "Whatever do I owe the pleasure? I hope none of my boys have gotten into any trouble this early in the school year. It's usually a few days before I receive an owl about the twins' behavior."
"Molly, it's good to see you, I'm actually here about a letter I received from your daughter Ginevra." McGonagall said with a small smile on her stern face.
"Ginny wrote you?" her mum asked, "Whatever for?" Her mum looked confused.
"I want to start Hogwarts this year, mum. I've been reading the twins books for years and think I could handle it." Ginny said in a strong voice. This was not the time to sound like a child, she needed to sound mature and ready for the tasks ahead.
"I have to admit I was surprised when I got her letter, No student has ever owled me to ask to start early, I had to look up the appropriate actions to take to test her abilities."
"She doesn't have a wand yet." Molly frowned "I wouldn't mind if she went to school early, I would be ever so proud of her, but we couldn't even afford to buy Ronald a new wand this year, he had to use Charlie's old wand…"
"Molly, if Ginny passes the advanced placement tests, we do have a trust at Hogwarts to help pay for equipment, I know you aren't one to take handouts but I must insist, even if she doesn't pass, I would like to offer to take your Son to Ollivanders to get a wand suited for him, I can't have a student trying to complete his studies with an ill suited wand." McGonagall said with sincerity in her voice.
"We couldn't possibly…"
"I must insist." McGonagall said. "It's what the trust is for, But first, Ginevra, are you sure you're up to starting school early? You'd be a year younger than all the other students."
"I'm ready professor, I really have been studying for ages and I know I can pass whatever test you give me." Ginny answered. "And I'd have all my brothers to look after me, I'm not worried about being younger, I'm very mature for my age anyway."
"If you're sure, then I'd like to ask you to come with me to the school for your exams, You'll be given a test from each core subject, mind you it won't be over everything the first years are expected to learn, but it will see if you grasp the concepts well enough to start your education."
"Yes Professor, I'd love to come, is that alright Mum?" She asked hopefully.
"If you're sure of this, I'm not going to stand in the way of your education. You're a very bright girl GInny, and I'm proud of you, I just wish you had talked to me about this sooner."
"I'm sure Mum, and I'm sorry for not talking to you about it, I got excited when I read about the advanced placement, and i got a bit carried away.
Her mum smiled and pulled her into a hug. "Just don't grow up too fast, okay?"
She smiled but inwardly frowned. Her mother had no idea that she had in fact had to grow up too fast in her original timeline due to Voldemort returning. "I promise." was all she said, and then she Floo'd to Hogwarts with Professor McGonagall.
