"Ugh, seriously, just let me in my room." She jiggles the handle again and the doorknob vanishes. "You haven't done this in months, it was a stressful day, I just want to have a soak and go to bed." Clara pleads with the sentient ship. The only response she receives is a rather annoyed hum. "Fine I'll sleep in the library." After the five minute walk to the TARDIS library she finds both couches and the comfortable chairs have been removed. "Ok, I give up. Why won't you let me rest tonight?"
The TARDIS floods Clara's mind with images of the Doctor. She says, "Is he ok?" A positive hum. "You want me to go to him?" Same hum. "To do what exactly. Talk? We can talk tomorrow." The TARDIS sends her images of couples kissing and touching each other. "Oh no. That's not going to happen. You heard him after he changed. He clearly doesn't want that. So stop trying to play matchmaker." The TARDIS groans.
Clara exits the library only to find herself walking into the console room. She sees her Doctor writing calculations on his chalkboard. She watches as he stops and runs a hand through his grey curls. After a moment he turns. "Clara! Is it morning already? That was fast. If you are ready there's a planet I want to show you. It has man-eating plants, seven varieties of banana ice cream, and purple sand beaches."
Clara says, "It's not morning. Your TARDIS has locked me out of my room again."
The Doctor asks, "Did you ask her nicely to let you in?"
Clara replies, "Yes. She refused, then she flooded my mind with images of you and…" She stops. She can feel the heat on her cheeks.
"And what?" He asked.
Clara says, "Nothing." Maybe he will just let it go.
He says, "Well if you don't address whatever she feels is necessary, it may take some time to get back into your room." He walks over to the monitor on the console. He touches a button and it shocks him. "Damn. She won't let me override it. She's a stubborn old girl." He shakes his hand in reaction to the shock. "She usually hints at why she's angry though."
Clara takes a deep breath, "Ok, she essentially showed me a stream of soft-core porn and images of you. So it's clear what she wants me, well us really, to address and I told her that's not going to happen because you already told me you weren't my boyfriend and have no interest in me."
The Doctor opens and closes his mouth a few times as if he's not sure what to say. "When did I say I wasn't interested?"
Clara says, "Outright saying 'I'm not your boyfriend' pretty much says 'Not Interested' to me. Wait, what?" The Doctor steps over to her.
The Doctor responds, "I just said I wasn't your boyfriend. Never said I wasn't interested. Boyfriend/Girlfriend stuff is a bit domestic." Clara mumbles something. "What was that?"
Clara says, "You could have said something. Maybe explained what you meant. I wouldn't want to put a label on anything."
The Doctor says, "I was going to when I was acting as the Caretaker at Coal High School, but then you got involved with PE, so I figured you weren't interested anymore."
Clara says, "Of course I was you daft old man, but I thought you weren't, so I thought I should just move on. Is that why you acted so cross toward Danny at the start? You thought he stole me from you?" She smiles. The faintest bit of pink surfaces on the Doctor's cheeks. "Your blushing. It's true. That's so sweet Doctor." She throws her arms around him and to her surprise he doesn't fight it, instead he hugs back.
After a moment the Doctor pulls away. He brings his hands up and cups her cheeks. "My impossible girl." She smiles, he hadn't called her that in a while. "I will show you the stars, we can be as romantically involved as you want, but I won't be your boyfriend. I won't, not when there are far better words in the universe for what I can be to you." He leans in and whispers a beautiful alien word that the TARDIS doesn't translate, and then he kisses her lips gently. He breaks the kiss. "Now let's go to that planet I told you about, get some banana ice cream, and maybe the TARDIS will let you back into your bedroom, if not we'll just use mine." He grins at Clara wolfishly and she blushes. The TARDIS hums happily. The Doctor steps back over to the console and pulls a lever.
