Supernatural Influences: Shadow War
Chapter 1
A Dark Deal
The world as you know it is not what it seems. The average person always goes about his day, unaware of the forces that drive this world, both light and dark. A being of great light, full of love and wisdom, created the universe, establishing order and balance, all things good. Among them, creatures who shone brighter than any star in the night sky, who he named angels. He gave them many characteristics, most of all choice. The dwelling of which they spent their time glorifying and praising their creator was a place of goodness, providing for all the creations. However, with grace and goodness, there is the lack thereof.
One angel, the brightest of all named Lucifer, thought himself above the creator. He spoke of rebellion and sovereignty over the creator, rallying support among other angels. Many of the angels, fearing the corruption of their holy place, rallied against Lucifer and his dark angels. The mightiest of them named Michael was soon tasked with putting down this evil rebellion and casting out Lucifer and his dark ones. This was the first Holy War that shook the universe. As punishment for rebelling, the creator made a place of eternal damnation and placed the rebels within its walls, forever toiling and writhing in the fires of darkness.
When the creator made man, Lucifer sought the ruination of the creator's work. Lucifer was not just a demon of might, but also a demon of cunning, of deception. Sneaking into the garden called Eden disguised as a snake, he tricked the ancestors of all mankind into disobeying the creator's words, thus being cast out of that holy place. While man continued to adapt and flourish amongst the earth, the angels soon appeared to people, disguising themselves as to not overwhelm them. The demons, hellbent on the ruination of man, began doing the same thing. When wars broke out amongst the people, the creator decided to flood the earth for forty days to stamp out the dark hybrids of demon and man. As a vow of preserving the good intentions of the angel-man hybrids, the creator built a haven for them, a kingdom of light apart from heaven, so that they may continue living on and flourishing. This kingdom was called Luminos, the kingdom of light. As thanks for the creator sparing their lives, the Luminosians built a great castle made from the clouds, creating a throne room, so that they may stay in direct contact with the creator.
While Noah was safely sailing on his ark, the dark hybrids were drowning under the weight of the water. Many perished, but some managed to get out in time before the flood waters were too high. Lucifer, with his cunning, led his followers into a dimension of darkness. The dark hybrids, thanking their savior, built a kingdom, praising the dark one for their survival. The kingdom was soon named Necropolis, the city of darkness. Their ruler, a man by the name of Mephistopheles, proclaimed that once every year, a tribute of blood must be made at the foot of the great statue of Lucifer to remind them of the mercy that Lucifer gave them. However, Lucifer had his own plans for the Necronites, which he would use when the time came.
Lucifer planned on claiming Luminos for himself, wiping out the "nasty half-breeds" as he called them, and claiming superiority over the creator once again. All he needed was a ruler to ensure that it ran perfectly. His opportunity came one stormy night in Los Angeles, California.
On November the 23rd, a couple rushed to the local hospital. The man was blonde, wore a black button collared shirt and long jeans, driving a light blue car. He was nervous, for his wife was about the give birth to their first-born son. The woman wore a red dress that hung down to her knees when she stood up. She was sweating profusely, the strain of the baby weighing on her like a strongman trying to lift a 10-ton boulder. The man looked over at his wife and bleakly smiled.
"It's all right honey." He said. "We're almost there. It should only be just a few more minutes."
The woman nodded her head, scrunching her face again as another convulsion hit her.
When they arrived at the hospital, the doctors checked her over. The woman was then taken to an operating table, where they began to deliver the baby. Everything was going well until the doctors discovered one huge problem.
"We managed to get the baby's legs out, but he's caught on something." One of the doctors said. This worried the head surgeon. The surgeon then spoke.
"Start pressing on the mother's stomach. Force it out." He said.
The doctors looked at each other shockingly. One of them turned towards the surgeon.
"You can't be serious! Can't we just break one of the bones that's holding it back. The bone should heal and the child will be safe. If we force it out, there's no telling what could happen."
The surgeon narrowed his eyes at the doctor. "Do I need to repeat myself? Force that child out!" he shouted.
The doctors looked at each other again, turned back towards the mother, and decided to force the baby out. One doctor took hold of the baby's legs while the other positioned himself at the mother's left side, putting his hands on her stomach. The doctor pushed hard on the mother's stomach while the other pulled the child's legs, forcing the child out of the womb. However, the child did not come out unscathed. It just so happens that the child's right arm got stuck on his mother's pelvic bone, hindering the process. Because he was forced out, his arm collapsed, tearing nerves directly from the spinal column. The child did not cry or move at all. It started to turn blue. The doctors, in a panic, rushed it to intensive care. Nothing they did could help this dying baby.
The one doctor named Ernest stumbled out of the door and began crying. He didn't know what he was gonna tell its parents. He knew the father would do all he could to make sure that the hospital would pay for its ludicrous actions inflicted upon his child. He was going to lose his job. He didn't know what he was going to do.
"Is there something the matter, doctor?" a voice came from the end of the hallway. The doctor looked up and down the hall, eyes still wet with tears.
"Who's there?" he called back. There was silence.
"Isn't it rude to answer a question with another question?" the voice boomed again.
Suddenly, a man in a black cloak strode down the hallway towards the doctor.
"Who are you? This corridor is for authorized personnel only." The doctor said, standing up. The cloaked figure stopped right in front of the doctor. He looked left into the Intensive Care room and spotted the child.
"Why is that child dying?" the cloaked figure asked.
"That's none of your concern." The doctor replied sternly.
The cloaked figure turned and gazed into the doctor's eyes. All the doctor could see were two burning red eyes glowing. The lights began to flicker rapidly.
"What's going on?" the doctor shouted scared. The figure now grasped the doctor's chin.
"You have committed a terrible sin." The figure boomed. "You have harmed an innocent life. You committed sloth and harmed a life." The doctor's face grew from fear to absolute terror.
"You damaged one of God's creations." The cloaked figure roared. "We hang milestones around the necks of people like you and throw them into the sea for crimes such as these." His eyes flashed, causing the doctor to burst out bawling in terror. The cloaked figure released the terrified doctor, who slunk down the wall and onto the floor. The figure then turned his attention to the child.
"I have a way of reviving this child." He said, his voice now silky smooth. The doctor bolted up.
"How? Please tell me how I can heal it." The doctor was now grasping the figure's black cloak, begging like a dog, tears still streaming down his face. The figure gave an evil smile.
"Open the door and let me do what I must. You must not look at me while I work. Otherwise, you will not like what you see." The figure's eyes flashed dangerously towards the doctor again.
"Yes. Yes. Anything you want. Just heal it!" The doctor nodded ferociously, kissing the cloak after each nod. The figure pulled his cloak out of the doctor's grasp and walked over to the door. The doctor hurriedly ran over to the door and swiped his card. The door unlocked and the figure stepped inside. The figure slowly walked over to the blue child and removed his hood. The face of Lucifer stared down on the child. Lucifer ripped open a blood bag and dipped his fingers into it. He then began drawing a circle along the child's damaged right arm. He then spoke in a dark and menacing voice.
"Young son of God. I have chosen you as my successor." He then drew a line connecting the circle. "You will lead my armies of Necropolis to victory." Another line. "You will gain a part of my dark power and will be the Prince of Darkness." Another line. "But with it, you will get a curse." Another line. "Your payment for the life and power I give you will be the great gift that all man desires: the love of a significant other." A final line, connecting to the first one. "If a girl ever professes her love to you, she will perish in 2 weeks. This will occur until Luminos is mine." He then pressed hard against the pentagram on the child's arm with his hand and recited a dark incantation. Unholy fire filled the room and a howling gust sounded with each word that the devil spoke. The child let out a cry, breathing its first breath. Lucifer removed his hand from the child's arm, the pentagram sinking into the child's skin until it was not seen.
"Only my dark ones and those of the light will be able to see my symbol. When you feel my hellfire burn through it, you will know that your time has come. Seek me out and become my prelate of darkness." At this, Lucifer turned, reapplied the cloak over his head, and walked out of the room. The doctor was sitting with his back against the wall. When Lucifer exited, the doctor stood up.
"So? Did you heal him?" the doctor pleaded. Lucifer nodded slowly. He has awakened, but his arm was unrepairable. He will live with it for the rest of his life, but it will be a symbol of his strength." He now stepped forward and put his right hand on the doctor's forehead.
"You will forget that I was even hear. You managed to resuscitate this child. When his parents sue, you will plead guilty for your crime." He then breathed a red mist into the doctor's nostrils. The doctor's eyes rolled into the back of his head as Lucifer loosened his grip. He then vanished into the night, awaiting the arrival of his champion that will lead him to sovereignty.
