Chapter Four

Our New Begining

It's been two months since the day our lives changed. Still, no procedure because the doctors keep accessing us and saying that our mental capacities have been fully expanded so that we can safely accept those old but new memories. They've been giving us exercises to fix this. Even with this delay, ZT seems to be able to remember things when she is around Zero One. Which I guess makes sense because we were told that in ZT's previous life she was a demi-human; half-human, half-klaxo. We were also told that I was becoming part Klaxo-sapien before my previous life died. When I asked why they said because I was her partner in our Franxx. Speaking of Franxx, the doctor had finally made a breakthrough in the energy source for the machines.

Knock Knock.

There's a knock at my door. I check my clock on my nightstand and it reads: 6:30 am.

"Go away! It's too early. I just wanna..." I mumble. This is stupid. Why can't they just let me sleep in for once? God, I think.

"Trust me, Mr. Dekaiski," Dr. Franxx's head assistant, Deva Jones says, "It's important!" What she is saying is probably true. Dr. Jones, or Professor Jones as we call her in our science class, usually never comes to get us directly but instead would get one of the lab assistants to come to get us.

"What could be so important that we need to get up right now?" I ask annoyed.

"Well if you don't wanna test them out first then I guess that's fine," she says, " I would tell you to inform Zenta but, It seems she can hear me just fine from where she is."

Oh shit, I think. I could almost see the smirk on Dr. Jones's face. I look over to my left to see if ZT is awake and what I see makes me wanna laugh so hard. All I see is her Beautiful face beet red on the verge of dying of laughter. Her mouth closed tight and her eyes bulging.

After she calms down she says," Good morning Handsome. I think that you and I should probably get ready."

"Morning beautiful, but I'm going to have to disagree with that," I say, "we've got all the time in the world." she is still laying bed so I crawl over her and put my forehead against hers and go in to kiss her and she accepts it. There's a knock at the door and we both jump. I landed on the floor with a thud.

It's Dr. Jones again and she says, "One last thing to motivate you to stop your lovie-dovie time and get dressed is that this news has to do with a certain robot itching to get to know you."

The Franxx. Wait. Does that mean... "Strelizia!" we both say. We both jump up and get dressed. I force myself not to look at her exposed chest as she doesn't wear top to bed. But then she reminds me that, "the doctor always says that a little perversion is good for you." of course no the Dr. Franxx of today but the one from our lives before. Just another memory she gets, and I don't even have one. The only thing I get is the nightmares. They come and go but they're all memories of our past lives. They go away a while after I wake up. While ZT gets nice memories I'm stuck with the brutal ones. The nightmares are one of the main reasons that ZT and I sleep together, other than the fact we are dating. We technically aren't supposed to but they stopped trying to stop us after the commander ended up locked inside an industrial storage locker.

We finish getting dressed in under two minutes. We are out the door, down the hallway, and into the Rec Room. it's empty so that means the others have already gotten to the launch center. The launch center is on the other side of the facility, so we opt-in for the trans-directional elevator. It can take you anywhere you need to be. The elevator takes us up to a sky view of everything. The facility is massive. Spanning what seems to be an entire country, the ground it's on takes up 7,592 acres of land A lot of it is for practicing with our half-sized Franxx that run off of diesel. Since they are technically just machinery we don't forge any connection with them. Everyone rotates through them since they all have different body styles, weapons, and abilities.

When we finally arrived, the team was waiting on the deck.

"Finally!" Fumihiro says, "I and Hansuke agreed that we should have to wait for the two love birds, but no. everyone else decided to wait."

"First, it's 'Hansuke and I' not the other way around. And second, I didn't feel like waking up until Dr. Jones mention something abou-"

"Did someone mention my name?" she asked, cutting me off, "Good, you are all here. Commander Aitowa, Zero One, and Dr. Franxx are waiting to deliver some exciting news."

"Do you think we will be able to use them today?" Fumihiro asked.

"Man, I doubt you could even reach the new controls. I heard they changed the design of how the pilots use their Franxx," Akio said.

"No really? It's almost like we all have the same info on these because I swear I heard the same thing from the same person you did!" Fumi retorts back.

"Ya? Well with your mental capacity being below average, I thought you might have forgotten."

"The only thing I forgot was how to give a fuck about what you are saying."

"Guys! Can we not right now? It's almost to see Dr. Franxx," says Hamari trying to break up the fight, "I swear, you guys can never seem to get along." she pushes up her glasses and moves along.

I look at ZT and she just smiles and nods her head forward pulling my hand in the direction we need to go. When we reach the Command room, the doors open, and inside are the commander, Zero One, and Dr. Franxx. Dr. Franxx beams at us and waits for us to get settled in the seats around the table.

She says, "It's finally done. We have been able to find a new source of power for the Franxx that won't harm anyone or anything. As you should all know if you've paid any attention in your classes that the Franxx requires a source of energy that essentially brings it to life. We used to use fuel from the Klaxosoars but now we are using the sunlight."

The sun is powerful but the reason it was never used originally was that it was immensely underpowered by both life force and actual energy. The professor stated that with the help of hypermass equations, we can store 250x more energy into the Franxx than before and it will work 137% better than before.

"Excuse me, ma'am," says Hansuke, "but I think we are a bit more interested in actually seeing the insides of our Franxx. Maybe actually using them perhaps?"

She replies, "Ah yes, little Hansuke. Eager as ever to get things done. That's fine then but first, you guys need a change of clothing."

Just then, a group of people came in and led us to the doors with numbers above them. Probably for each of us, and we go into our designated chamber.

Lazers start coming out of nowhere and I yell, "Hey, those were a good pair of shorts I had!"

After my clothes are off and I'm butt-naked, a machine scans me up and down. Probably just measuring my sizes for a perfect fit, I think. Then it stops and an arm comes out with a circular item and it stops dead center, an inch from my chest. Then, without warning, it jabs me with the item and I can feel it sticking into my skin.

I know exactly what that was. That just installed a nanotech suit that allows for us to do things mere humans can't. This suit can, with a tap of a button, shrink into the disk or expand to cover my whole body. We all step out fully covered in a carbon-colored suit.

"You guys ready?" I call out to my team.

"Ready as I'll ever be," says Ichika

"Alright then. Let's go kick some alien ass!" I say.

One after another we all say, "for strilizians, for honor," as we ascend to the launch station.
