This time the dream began in the bullpen. Alex was talking to Kim at her workstation, but soon enough they had abandoned all cares and begun to kiss. Those around them watched and whispered at the sudden display of passion. After a moment or two, Alex could tell that Jack was fast approaching them with a look of pure fury on his face. So he took out his gun and, to the shock of everyone around them, he pointed it straight at Jack as the kiss ended. He and Kim began to walk away, gun still aimed at a glaring Jack as they made their way towards the parking lot. As they were about to vanish from view, Alex shocked the bullpen once more. He shot Jack in the leg, sending him crashing to the floor in pain. Having prevented him from chasing them, they had run towards the parking lot.

The dream ended as they reached his car and he woke up as soon as things turned black. Still in the secure cell, he had no idea how much time had passed since Jack had escorted him there. Moments later, voices and footsteps approached.

"Mr Myers? I'm Tom Alfonsi and this is Juliet Blaine, FBI," one of the agents announced as they arrived at the cell. Alfonsi was a tall white man, middle-aged with grey hair and blue eyes. Blaine was a shorter, younger black woman with dark brown hair and hazel-green eyes. Alex looked at them and nodded.

"Nice to meet you both," he replied, hoping that they would take him to the FBI and away from CTU as well as Jack. At least he would have more of a chance there.

"Look, this is all due to one man who doesn't agree with his daughter's choices. You can talk to her yourself, she chose to come with me," he continued.

Will it be that easy? Nothing seems to be nowadays, even the escape that I'm sure was a trap Jack set for me.

"Well, if that were possible we would," Blaine spoke and Alex looked at her with confusion. Whilst he had not seen her after the raid, she had said she would come back to Los Angeles in such an event.

"What do you mean? She never came back to LA?" Alex asked, growing more worried by the minute. Not only was she missing, but it didn't help his case against the kidnapping charge. He could only hope that she was okay somewhere.

"We have evidence that she did, but vanished a few hours later. We'll be taking you to the FBI for further questioning," Alfonsi spoke. Alex felt relief that he was at least going to be away from Jack and CTU. He couldn't help but worry about Kim and her sudden disappearance.

I'm not going to try and escape now that I don't have to worry about Jack. I still need to worry about two things, though. Proving my innocence and whether Kim is safe or not.

It was a quiet drive up until halfway towards their destination before they pulled over. Alex wondered what they were doing before Blaine turned around to face him.

"We weren't telling the truth back at CTU. Ms Bauer is at the FBI and we've been talking to her. We're willing to offer you both witness protection," she explained. The news was delightful for Alex, not only would they be together again but the FBI would help keep Jack away.

Jack won't stop looking for us even with the FBI protecting us. Still, it's worth it to be with Kim. I can only hope this all has a happy ending. For us and for Jack.

Almost as soon as he had arrived at the FBI, Alex and Kim embraced. Both of them knew that the FBI's help would make a massive difference.

It'll not be long before Jack finds out about this. Protection from the FBI won't deter him, either. Still, I don't regret it as I love Kim but there is one regret. That the relationship is keeping her apart from her father, especially after everything.

"Mr Myers, Ms Bauer? We can get started on the protection plan," Blaine spoke before the trio walked down a corridor.

Hours later, Alex and Kim were travelling with the two agents towards a nearby airfield. From there, Alex and Kim would go to an undisclosed location to begin their new lives. Alex couldn't help but look out at every other car, wondering if Jack was in one of them. His thoughts must have shown on his face, as Kim took his hand and squeezed it.

"It's going to be OK, Alex, we'll be away from CTU and away from my dad," she spoke. Soon enough, she would be calling him Zachary Clarke and he would be calling her Mary Lynn Sutherland.

"It's worth it to be with you," he replied. They had no idea where they were heading, but he would go anywhere for the sake of their relationship.

There's nothing I miss less than CTU. I only started working there because I wanted to work with my sister. Plus it feels painful to leave behind some of our closest friends. Still, I met Kim because of the agency.

A short while later and they were at the airfield. Soon enough they would be leaving behind their names as well as everything else.

"Good luck, you two," Agent Blaine spoke as they approached the plane. It was a small jet that would take them far away from the sprawl of Los Angeles. Alex knew that their destination was somewhere within the contiguous United States. Where that was didn't matter in the slightest to him.

"Thank you for everything," Alex replied. When CTU had arrested him, he had been sure that he would never see Kim again and might even end up in prison. Now, they were going to be together and freer than they were back in Berkley.

In a way, Jack and CTU have made it easier for us. Now we can at least settle down somewhere, even if there is still some danger lurking.

Back at CTU, Jack was unaware of what the FBI was doing for the pair. They had told him that they were continuing to question Alex and would keep him updated. He was about to head home when the phone rang.

"Bauer," he answered. Moments later, he slammed the phone down and cursed under his breath. Whilst he appreciated the help from his friend at the FBI, he was furious at the news. Knowing there was little he could do at that moment in time, he decided to go home and leave finding the couple for now. It would be pointless going straight after them, not with the FBI on high alert.
