Chapter 463
"The Historian"
AJ Styles sat up, after shaking off a spell of vertigo, he examined the dock. There were a lot of faces that he didn't immediately recognize. Then, there was one he remembered, "Mandy?"
"Welcome back," Mandy gulped, "You were at the bottom of the water. Tied to an anchor, we pulled you out."
AJ massaged his forehead and his immediately found Sasha, "You?!" Getting to his feet, then shaking as another spell of dizziness hit him. "You chained me to that anchor."
The Swords all gawked, staring at Sasha.
Sasha exhaled, "That was a long time ago. We're now thousands of years in the future. Things have changed."
AJ glared at her, "Thousands of years? What are you talking about?"
Mandy innocently raised her hands, "She's telling the truth. This is a very different time than the one you remember. We've all been reincarnated. Everyone except you."
"Yeah," Ash waved, "You might not know me but it's true."
"When we found you," Brock stepped forward, "You had a magical aura around you. The magic probably protected your body all those years while you were down there."
AJ nodded, holding up a pokeball, "Lugia's power preserved me."
*Lugia, the diving pokemon, It is said that it quietly spends its time deep at the bottom of the sea because its powers are too strong. It sleeps in a deep-sea trench. If it flaps its wings, it is said to cause a 40-day storm.*
"Sounds strong." Ash gawked.
AJ Styles then turned to Prince, and then Carlito, "The Eastern Pharaohs? So even now you're trying to control Atlantis."
Prince shook his head, "It's a long story. We should find a place to sit down and explain everything that's going on."
AJ took one hard glare at Sasha before saying, "Fine," he waved and led the Swords off the dock and into the palace. "But before that there's someone else who's probably managed to survive through time. He can explain everything that she," pointing to Sasha, "has done."
"What does any of that matter now?" Sasha objected.
AJ hissed, "If I'm going to listen to you all, you're going to hear what I have to say too. You can't hide from the past and everything you've done forever, Sasha. And he can tell it all better than I can. I just have to summon him here. Follow me."
The Swords followed AJ Styles deeper into the palace. They turned down various long hallways and corridors until they reached a small round room composed of bricks. At the center there was a green plume of pyreflies, "Here," AJ pointed, "I'll summon the historian. He'll tell you everything, then, I'll hear from you what all has happened."
Prince exhaled, "We don't have time to dwell on what was. We should focus on the now."
"What was is just as important." AJ looked at each of the swords, "Especially if you're in league with her." Pointing to Sasha.
The Swords all nodded. It seemed like a fair deal.
Ash asked, "So what is this place?"
AJ then explained, "This chamber was where Ezra and the royalty of Atlantis summoned important politicians and civil servants. Other kingdoms kept their people around them and in the palace at all times, Atlantis because of how advanced we were could use pokemon to transport the necessary people to this place when it was necessary. If the historian has managed to survive, I should be able to summon him."
"How does it work?" Brock asked.
"Pyre flies are connected to the world by energy," AJ Styles explained. "Right now, they're feeling all of the energy we're subconsciously putting out."
"Are they mind-readers?" Alexa asked curiously.
"I'm not sure, to be honest." AJ Styles admitted. "I simply have to think of the historian and want him to be here badly. He'll answer the call and be teleported here."
"So it's like a mental zoom call," Alexa summed up, "except he'll actually really be sent here."
"Zoom call?" AJ Styles was puzzled by the new words.
"We'll explain later." Ash nodded.
"How dangerous are the pyre flies then?" Prince pondered. "All someone has to do is think of Sithis and-"
"That's not exactly how it works. They may think of Sithis but no one actually wants him to be here, right?"
Everyone shook their head.
"So there's nothing to worry about." AJ Styles calmed the room. "All we have to do is think about the historian and the pyre flies will call out to him. If he accepts, he'll be here in seconds."
"He's alive," Sasha confirmed, "I've seen the historian with my own eyes. He's still alive in this time. Let's just get this over with."
"But how are we supposed to think about someone we don't know?" Ash asked.
AJ thrusted a hand into the herd of pyreflies and closed his eyes, deep in thought.
Sasha stepped forward, thrusting her hand into the pyreflies and closing her eyes.
Mandy and Sonya followed. They also had their memories and could help locate the historian.
Suddenly, there was an explosion of energy. And in through the jade-green glow a squat man with walnut-brown skin, a thin mustache and bald head stepped through, "Holla, holla playas," Teddy Long waved to The Swords.
"You're the historian?" Ash gawked.
"Sure am, playa," Teddy nodded at Ash. He then turned to AJ Styles, "So you've finally woken up. It's about time."
"Tell them!" Ash pointed to the Swords. "Tell them all the things she's done," gesturing to Sasha.
"Whoa, playa, whoa!" Teddy leaned back, "I understand you being angry. She did chain you up and drop you to the bottom of the ocean, after all."
"I didn't just call you here to tattle on Sasha," AJ Styles admitted, "I called you here because you're the only one I trust."
"Hold on," Carlito scratched his head, "I thought the samoans killed you during the time of the pharaohs."
"That's what I wanted you all to think, playa," Teddy chuckled. "The East was becoming too dangerous a place to be. So, like Tupac, I faked my death and went to the other side of the world. I came to Atlantis and became the historian."
"Tupac didn't fake his death though." AJ Lee corrected, "Tupac is actually dead."
"You really think so, playa?" Teddy leaned forward.
Prince rolled his eyes, "Please don't be one of those black people that refuse to believe Tupac is dead. That's as wild as white people who still want to believe Elvis is still alive."
"Hey, playa." Teddy shrugged, "Explain him being on Kendrick's To Pimp A Butterfly album."
Prince paused.
"See what I mean, playa." Teddy then turned to AJ Styles, "What do you need to know?"
"Where is Ezra?" AJ Styles asked.
"Sithis has her." Teddy answered. "The Swords have been trying their damndest to get her and all the others he took back."
AJ Styles looked over the group, "So we're on the same side, it seems. That still doesn't change what she's done and how it was her fault that The Promised Lands fell to The Forsaken."
"It was Sasha's fault?" Ash gawked.
Teddy studied Prince, who seemed clueless and lost. "You still don't have your memories back, do ya, playa?"
Prince shook his head.
"Well," Teddy shrugged, "That might be for the best."
"Tell us what happened." Prince requested, "Tell us everything. I'm tired of constantly hearing about it and not knowing. Just tell us everything that happened."
Teddy exhaled, "Well, a lot happened playa, a lot of things. It all really started with Carlito killing Tamen and you being punished for it, playa."
"Just tell us what happened." Prince gestured.
"If you've got the time, I've got no problem doing that playa but can we get out of this cramped room first?" Teddy requested.
They left the summoning chamber and found places to sit in the banquet hall. They all sat listening to Teddy as he reminisced on the fall of the pharaohs.
