Song: Doja Cat - Streets
It was Saturday, and Siren was not looking forward to tomorrow. She did not feel like celebrating. It was going to be her twenty first birthday. She should be excited, going out and getting drunk and high with her friends but instead she really wanted to be alone.
Everything was starting to weigh on her mind.
Siren felt terrible. Here she is dating someone that she doesn't even love while constantly thinking about another. At the same time public opinion is all over the place. Some people love her honesty and free spirited ways, while others think she has a secret agenda. Whether that be a means to stay relevant or an undercover spy. 'Which is fuckin' ridiculous.'
Sitting on the grey couch she kicked up her feet as she sparked her lighter at the end of the oversized blunt she'd rolled for herself. Just because she wasn't leaving her place did not mean she wasn't going to get fucked up the whole weekend (her normal birthday tradition).
Plus she knew at any moment Hawks would show up and kill her buzz anyway. He wasn't a fan of her smoking so she tried to be courteous and not do it around him.
The television was playing some music in the background as Siren stared out the window across from her. She remembered when she thought she saw Dabi on the roof of the building across the street.
'I gotta stop thinking about him.'
A loud knock on her door made her raise an eyebrow. "It's open!" She yelled expecting Hawks to just open the door like he always did.
Instead an even louder knock came from the door causing Siren to turn and look at the offending door with a glare. Standing she snuffed out the half smoked blunt and walk to the door with a huff.
"I said it's open," Siren sighed as she opened the door and her mouth fell open.
"Happy Birthday Siren!"
The white haired woman couldn't formulate words as she looked at Reggie, Derick, Sabine, AJ, Hana and Hawks standing just outside her door with a banner that read 'Happy 21st Birthday Siren.'
"Told you guys she'd be surprised."
"When Siren is actually speechless, that's how you know you got her."
"..I-I don't know what to say…your all here-"
"You didn't seriously think we'd let you spend your birthday alone did you?"
"We started planning to come out here for this after the last time we saw you."
"I think I might cry, this is so sweet..but you guys are a day early-"
"That's because we're gonna celebrate all weekend!" "Hell yeah we are!" "It's what we always do," "Gotta keep the tradition going."
With all the people who actually cared about Siren around she started to feel and act more like her old self. They drank and smoked (away from Hawks) and even went out to a club later that night.
Back at Sirens place they all sat on the roof. A bottle of Hennessy being passed between them as Reggie and Derick told an embarrassing story about Siren to the group.
The winged hero laughed out loud causing Siren to elbow him in the stomach. "It's not that funny."
"Yes it is! Who would've thought that the Siren used to act like a spoiled little princess-" "Shut up."
"Tell me something else I don't know about her-" "Don't you dare!"
"Actually Siren I got something for you."
"What is it Reggie?"
He held his phone out and she grabbed it looking down at a list of fifteen tracks. "Is this?-"
"The new album. Already mix and mastered."
"This is great Reggie, send it to me so I can give it a listen later."
Hawks fell asleep on Sirens couch, not long after the group and Hana left. While he slept she slipped away to her office to work on something that was stuck in her head.
In her studio Siren made a sample from an old song she liked as a kid and added a dark melodic beat to it. She was feeling the song as it came to life before her. This was going to be a hit, she could feel it.
She worked on the song while also writing lyrics to go with it on the notepad in her lap.
'I found it hard to find someone like you
Send your location come thru
I can't sleep no more in my head, we belong
And I can't find someone like you.'
Her eyes where heavy as they started to drift closed and before she knew it Siren was asleep with her head leaning on her hand as her elbow rested on the mixing board, the beat still playin on loop in the background.
Siren felt a hand on her shoulder, someone was trying to wake her up. Opening her eyes slowly she was greeted with a handsome face. "What time is it?"
"Early, but we need to leave now in order to make it on time."
"Where are we going?"
"It's a surprise."
Siren stretched her sore limbs as she stood from the computer chair. 'Definitely not the best place to sleep.'
"Your bag is already packed so hurry up and change."
The look on your face probably said it all. "..You did what now?"
After riding in a limo for a few hours Siren and Hawks finally arrived at their destination. The outside structure was huge but Siren didn't see any signs to indicate what kind of place it actually was.
Hawks led her inside and once he was done talking to the staff he grabbed her hand to take her deeper into the building.
A set of double doors opened at the end of the hall and Siren was taken aback. It was like she'd stepped through a teleporter and was now on a deserted beach somewhere. The sunlight felt so real she could already feel a sweat forming on her skin.
There where palm trees to the left and right and a pathway of sand that stretched out in front of her.
"Where are we?"
"This place is actually a water park. They don't normally open for another month but I called in a favor."
Spotting a bright yellow slide in the distance beyond the trees, Siren nodded her head. "It's kinda strange, being at any type of amusement park when it's empty always seemed weird to me."
"..I know what you mean, at the same time, how else can two famous people spend some quality time together?"
Siren smiled and began undressing right where she stood.
"Uh Siren-" "If it's just us who cares if I'm wearing a bathing suit or my underwear."
"..You make a valid point." Hawks quickly removed his coat and shirt as Siren was already down to her lavender bra and matching panties. She looked at him over her shoulder and smiled.
Turning in the direction of the slide she'd seen earlier she gave Hawks a playful grin as she said, "Last one to the slid is a rotten egg," before taking off.
Hawks stared, unsure how the woman moved that fast, and on sand no less. 'She really is like a kid,' he thought to himself, letting a smile overtake his features as he ran after the white haired woman.
That night Siren and Hawks where at the hotel they would be staying at. Siren was currently standing under the hot running water of the shower as the bathroom filled with steam. Today has been a good day so far. Thankfully the day was jam packed with things for them to do that she didn't have time to think about anything. No work, song lyrics or Dabi decided to distract her and that she was happy about.
'Although now that I've mentioned his name I am thinking about him…Ugh, get a grip girl, if he really wanted to be with you he would, damn the consequences…but he chose revenge.'
Stepping out of the shower, Siren grabbed a towel and wrapped it around her head to get the water out of her hair before wrapping it around her waist and leaving the bathroom.
Hawks quickly slid his phone into his pocket and turned to look at Siren.
"Uh oh, do you have to return to saving the world?" She questioned stepping closer towards him.
"Nah, was just, checking in at the agency."
'Did he just lie to me?' "Okay." She turned towards the bed and reached for her suitcase that was already open and sitting on top of the covers.
Letting the towel fall Siren grabbed a silver satin nightdress and slipped the soft material over her head. It had very thin straps that crossed at her lower back showing off a lot of cleavage and skin, while the dress itself was simple with no lace or designs and stopped just below her ass cheeks.
Hawks was starring at the woman hard, the things he wanted to do to her.
"Hawks?"
"Yeah?"
"..Can I..ask you something?"
"Sure."
"..I've noticed how cautious you are with me. Do you think I'm, telling people about our conversations?"
"I'm cautious around everyone-" "Even someone your supposed to be close to?..Last question…Are you dating me to gain information?"
He said nothing but his eyes also didn't waver. They remained on her for a few minutes before he closed them and sighed heavily. "Are you even over him?"
"..Way to change the subject-" "Seriously Siren. Can you look me in the eyes and tell me that you're over Dabi?"
"A woman's feelings a complicated, like a deep ocean that you're never fully able to explore..I may not be over him but I was willing to try with you. But none of that changes the fact that you decided to use me for something that I don't even have-" "I didn't use you the way you think-" "But you did use me regardless!"
"Look, we shouldn't be having this conversation. Especially not today-" "Why? So you can keep puttin' on a mask for the rest of the world to think your perfect! News flash, your not!..I'm outta here."
Siren had her suitcase closed and began rolling it towards the door.
"Siren, wait-" "Nope." She stopped and put on her knee length denim jacket from earlier and her all black tennis shoes
"Don't be like this, I'll leave and you can take the room. It's already paid for-" "I don't want to you anything so I will leave, good-bye Hawks."
She opened the door and was gone before he could say anything else.
A week went by and Siren was sitting on the arm chair in her living room. She'd felt a sudden rush of inspiration and was writing lyrics to another song for her next album.
She was so enthralled that she didn't notice her phone was lighting up indicating that someone was trying to call her.
Finally noticing the device, Siren answered right before it went to voicemail.
"Hello?"
"Siren, it's Mike from Focus Studios. Congratulations, you got the part."
It took her a moment to realize that what he said was actually good news. "..That's, awesome, oh my gosh, okay what's next?"
"We want to get all the actors together for a table read some time next week."
She nodded her head already pulling up her schedule on her phone calendar. "I think I can make that work."
"Good. See ya then."
Hanging up, a thought occurred to the white haired woman. 'I should probably move back to L.A.…at least while production is going on…and I could be closer to the group, we could work on the next phase, possibly a tour…'
What about your life here?
'I'm not leaving permanently, besides I really only have Hana-'
What about Hawks?
'Fuck Hawks. I'm so done with him.'
…What about Dabi?..
'…What about him?'
Things where moving quicker than the Liberation Front was prepared for but Dabi was more than ready to fight. With the heroes making their move on the hideout he was already headed in the direction of Twice and Hawks.
He knew that bastard was a rat, nothing about him seemed right from the start but now this. He'd sent the heroes right to them, and even though he should be fuming he couldn't shake the grin on his face.
Stepping onto another floor he followed the sounds of muffled voices. Once he was close he listened to their conversation as Twice was yelling at Hawks.
"Shut-up! You call yourself a hero?"
"There's still a way out of this, if you come quietly…Because, I think you're a good person and I want to help you."
"I trusted you because I felt sorry for you…I see now what you really are."
Dabi heard a struggle and stepped closer to see Hawks on top of Twice with one of his blade feathers pointed dangerously close to Twice face.
"I still have to protect them!"
"I'll be sure to pass on the message," Hawks said ready to strike.
"No need, I heard him loud and clear," Dabi said coming up from behind with a huge blue flame in hand. Hawks dodged the attack grabbing Twice at the same time.
"The hell is wrong with you? You almost killed your friend," he said trying to keep a firm grip on the villain so that he didn't escape.
"Actually I know for a fact that heroes are always ready to save a life, even at the expense of their own."
"Always so sarcastic…So what gave me away?" Hawks asked curiously.
"Not a goddamn thing. I never believed you from the beginning."
"..You sure this isn't because I'm dating Siren?" He said that to get under Dabi's skin and it worked. Even though he hadn't spoken to or seen Siren since their fight on her birthday, didn't mean that the villain knew anything about it. Or else he probably would've already thrown that in his face.
Dabi sent another wave of flames at the hero distracting him just enough so that Twice slipped out of Hawks hold and ran past Dabi high-fiving him on the way.
"This has nothing to do with her!" Dabi hissed as he waited for the smoke to clear, but what Dabi didn't notice was that Hawks had slipped out the window and flew all the way around the building to end up behind him and in front of Twice.
Hawks was fast as he went to swing his blade and Dabi spoke without thinking once he realized their situation. "Keigo Takami!"
Hawks eyes widened in surprise and before he knew it he was covered in blue flames once again.
"Although I do remember that I made you a promise. I said I'd start with your hands, but it might be best if I get rid of those wings of yours first." Dabi said as he stepped closer to Hawks.
Twice sent off a bunch of his doubles to help his friends in the battle taking place outside the mansion, but in the process of doing so Hawks was behind him once again with a blade raised. He swung down and blood spurted from the gaping wound going through his chest. Hawks didn't have long before Dabi and his flames where on him once again.
"How could you?!" His boot was on Hawks back holding him down and burning his wings in the process. The grin on his face was terrifying and contrasted with his killer vibe.
"Is that the face of a man who's just lost a friend? It's a wonder Siren found you attractive," Hawks said through the pain of his back being turned to ash.
"That's rude even for you hero."
Hawks thought it was strange how Dabi didn't react to that comment so he decided to push his luck. Sometimes getting a villain to talk is the best way to gauge your situation. "I know you heard us together, must be eating you up inside."
"Ha, not even close, but…if you really want to know, I feel bad for you…See it took me awhile to realize just why she sounded so different with you."
"The hell are you talking about?" Hawks could feel it, Dabi's flames where getting weaker.
"The sex obviously!" He laughed and pushed his boot further into the fallen heroes back. "She doesn't normally sound like that…makes me wonder if she was faking it," Hawks flinched and made a move to strike back when something, or rather, someone came flying through the window.
They covered Hawks with their cape and turned on Dabi just as he regained his balance from being knocked out of the way.
Both Dabi and Hawks recognized the student from U.A. and Dabi was a little surprised that the pros where getting kids involved. But he decided to change tactics and taunt the student while he tried to buy himself some time.
He pointed to his slain comrade and told the student that it was Hawks who killed him. Dabi mocked the pro heroes saying that their hands where dirtier than the Leagues.
The student got close to Hawks and whispered to his sensei, "Give me an order." Hawks voice was raspy but he managed to get out a, "Go, now."
Just then Dabi unleashed another wave of flames at them and right in the midst of his attack came a huge mountain of ice that destroyed most of the building.
Siren was backstage waiting to be called out to perform. This time she was a surprise guest performer on a popular contest show. The TV in the far corner of the dressing room was on but the volume was very low so Siren could think in peace.
That is until the static of the TV caught her eye. She turned to see what was wrong with the device and grabbed the remote to turn it off. But then the image became clear and she recognized the man on the screen immediately.
It was Dabi. He was shirtless and sitting in what had to be an abandoned building, according to the decaying background.
Her heart was pounding in her ears as she strained to listen to his voice. Remembering that she had the remote in her hand she turned the volume up.
As she listened to his message to the world she felt tears rolling down her cheeks but she didn't move to wipe them away.
'This was his plan, and if he was broadcasting this…imagine what he's actually doing right now.'
With the first battle over and his message going out to the world Dabi was quite happy with himself. Even though he suffered a lot of damage, most of it was due to the overuse of his own quirk.
Looking himself over he held out his arm and realized he couldn't really feel anything. His body was starting to go numb but he smiled thinking of the looks on Hawks and his families face.
An image of Siren flashed in his mind and just like that, the smile was gone. Once she see's Hawks she's probably going to do everything she can to help and take care of him. Thinking of his current pathetic state the jealousy boiled inside him once more. 'I should've killed him,' he thought angrily as he let his arm fall over his eyes causing them to close.
Images of himself and Siren together flooded his mind and he had to open his eyes quickly so as not to get caught up in it. Sighing loudly he said "The one good thing in my life and I let it go."
Siren practically ran through the hospital. When she got the call about Hawks being hurt, initially she didn't believe it. That is until she saw the destruction of the city on t.v. Because she was on the other side of town, her surrounding area wasn't affected by physical damage, thankfully. However people where already starting to evacuate the city.
She found the room he was supposed to be in and stopped just outside the door. Hospitals don't scare her but she's never been a fan of seeing people hooked up to machines. Taking in a deep breath Siren reaches out to grab the door and slide it open.
The breath she was about to exhale stalled in her throat at the sight before her. Tiny wires and tubes of different sizes where coming off and out of his body while three machines close by made the only noises in the room.
Her breathing returned to normal and she stepped forward to get a closer look at him. The nurses at the welcome desk told her that there was a good chance he wouldn't wake up today and even if he did he wouldn't be able to speak due to the damage to his vocal cords.
"Hawks…I-I'm sorry…" her hand caressed his forehead moving a piece of hair out of the way in the process.
'I think I already know who did this to you…Burns so severe they aren't even sure if his wings will grow back…'
"I can't help but feel somewhat responsible." Siren sighed heavily and moved her hand from his face to his hand, which was also bandaged, but she held it anyway.
Glancing up at the clock on the opposite wall Siren sighed once again as she realized that she had to leave.
"I know we haven't spoken since my birthday, but I…I really wanted to say this to your face…but not like this…"
Siren pulled out a pen and her newest notebook of lyrics and turned to an empty page. Tearing it free she wrote a quick apology for having to do it this way, but she needed to move quickly before the borders completely shut down.
She wrote that this was the end of their relationship and folded it twice before placing it on the end table near his bed. Standing to leave she looked down at him and couldn't help but to be mad at herself for ending things like this.
"This is goodbye Hawks."
The streets where filled with people looting and stealing, just causing general chaos. Siren sat in the back of a car as her head of security, Lee, drove.
Back at her condo Siren and Lee rode the elevator up to her floor. The door chimed open and before she knew what was going on gunshots where heard and Lee feel to the ground as Siren threw herself against the wall and pressed the button to close the door.
Someone, that she didn't see, just tried to kill her.
Closing her eyes she took a deep breath and tried to relax. Her muscle memory was triggered as she grabbed the gun at Lee's waist and turned the safety off. Staying low to the ground Siren pressed the button for the sixth floor once again.
The door chimed and opened as she hid behind the wall next to the door and waited for the onslaught of bullets to stop.
Whoever it was had a semi automatic rifle and they where using it in excess by literally emptying the clip.
Siren listened as her attacker pull the trigger a few times clarifying that it was indeed empty and Siren took aim before peaking around the open door to see two men dressed like regular street thugs. How they even got into the building was beyond her, she needed to concentrate.
Pulling the trigger twice she hit one of them in the leg and the other in the stomach. She shot again, this time hitting the second one in the head and the first one in the shoulder. 'Damnit,' she thought knowing it wouldn't have taken her this many shots back in the day.
The first guy had dropped down to his other leg and pulled out a handgun from behind his back taking a shot and hitting Sirens right forearm before she had a chance to pull away.
"Fuck!" She yelled hearing another gunshot as she hid behind the wall once more.
'Great! Now I have that to deal with too.' She thought clutching onto her arm.
"You bitch, I'll kill you!" The man yelled stepping closer to the elevator.
Siren knew that she had no choice but to use her quirk. She began to hum to herself as she created an illusion that would make it seem like she wasn't there, in a sense she would be invisible to the man.
He stepped into the small space right before the door had a chance to close and looked at where Siren should've been. His head whipped around looking for her but then he noticed that he could still hear her humming and he turned back to her original position.
Siren was already standing though with the gun, now in her left hand, pointed at his head as she pulled the trigger and blood splattered everywhere including all over her.
She stopped humming and dropped the gun letting out a pained grunt at her bleeding wound. Stepping around the dead body of her head of security she looked down at the men who attacked her.
Walking towards her front door she decided to grab the rifle and saw a full clip lying next to the guy who was holding it and grabbed it as well. This way she'd have some protection in case someone else decided to attack her.
'This country used to be so peaceful,' she thought fumbling with her keys as she opened the door. Losing her balance she fell onto the floor and tried to brace herself. She yelled "Fuck!" As she accidentally tried to catch herself with her right arm. More blood squirted from the opening and it was then she realized that she was losing too much blood. 'I think he hit an artery…'
