The cold was the worst. Amber was standing at the bullhead landing area wrapped in her long white cloak trying to hide from the freezing temperatures around her while she waited for her sister and mother to arrive. They had made plans to fly out to her mom's childhood home for the winter break. It was a small island west of Vale, and Amber was a big fan of the small villages scattered around the island. Growing up in Atlas she got used to the tall skyscrapers and airships overhead, but when they would visit their grandfather's cabin in Patch it felt like they had gone to a different planet.
Amber sighed watching her misty breath fade into the wind. "Sorry we're late." A voice spoke up to her left pulling her out of her thoughts.
Looking over to see the origin of the voice Amber saw the tall figure of her older sister Summer in a bright red winter coat and white winter pants. To the right of Summer stood their mom, Weiss. She was wearing her normal military style Jacket and skirt seemingly unfazed by the cold.
'Maybe the Schnee immunity to cold skips generations.' Amber pondered smiling, "It's fine it's not like I've been standing out here for twenty minutes." She joked.
Weiss stepped forward raising her hand placing the back on her daughter's forehead, "You'll catch a cold." She stated in her normal 'Make sure the child is safe' tone that had become more common sense she took up a teaching position at Beacon.
"Don't worry mom I'm fine." Amber reassured lightly swatting her mom's hand away.
"Um, Mother when is the airship going to pick us up?" Summer asked cocking her head to the side.
"Should only be a few more minutes before it arrives." Weiss responded unsure checking her wristwatch when a powerful down draft appeared above them. Looking up they saw the airship they had been waiting for branded with the Schnee-Rose emblem on its hull.
"Or right now." Amber joked.
The airship was small with only a single lounge room with a connected bathroom with a ladder leading directly into the cockpit in the back corner. In the center of the room was a couch and two chairs around a coffee table facing a mounted a TV.
Amber placed her bag down at the entrance and walked over to the couch flopping down on the soft surface. "How long is the flight going to take?" She asked stretching out her arms and legs.
"It shouldn't be more than a few hours." Weiss responded.
Yawning Amber pulled her hood over her eyes and turned her face into the back of the couch, "Okay, wake me up when we get there." Her muffled voice spoke.
Summer sighed lightly at her younger sisters antics and sat down on a nearby armchair shortly followed by her mom sitting in the chair across from her.
"She's been pushing herself pretty hard lately. I think this trip will be good for her." Summer whispered loud enough for her mom to hear.
"A little rest can go a long way. Tai said that to me the first time I met him." Weiss said leaning back in her chair with a smile on her face.
"What were you and mom like back when you first met?" Summer asked.
A little surprised Weiss took a second to answer, "Completely different people." She stated with a laugh.
"How so?"
"Well, when I first met Ruby, I could not stand being in the same room as her." Weiss chuckled at her daughter's shocked expression. "She was only fifteen and was rather childish. Not paying attention in class, making rash decisions, refusing to do the work required of her." Weiss sighed a little remembering how much Ruby got on her nerves, "But she eventually earned my respect after seeing her on the battlefield, and how skilled of a leader she was. As we got older all of the things that made me so angry began to fade and be replaced with traits that made me respect her so much more."
"Then what about you?" Summer asked her intrigue visibly growing.
Weiss laughed, "I was a total jerk."
"I don't believe that." Summer smirked crossing her arms leaning back in her chair.
"Oh, I was. Back then I thought that I was the smartest and strongest person on my team and honestly thought that I was better then everyone. Long story short I acted a bit like a-" Weiss started.
"-Like a princess" Summer interrupted.
"Yes. I did act a like a princess." Weiss giggled.
"The twins called me the 'Ice Queen' because I was a little mean and controlling when we first started at Beacon." Summer halfheartedly stated.
"The twins?" Weiss asked.
"Oh, Hanna and Hendrickson. The other two members of my team, they're twins." Summer explained.
"I'm starting to think that the 'Ice Queen' nickname is genetic." Weiss mumbled before chuckling to herself.
A silence set over the room with it only being filled by the quite faint roaring of the ship's engine and Amber's soft breathing.
"How about we put on a movie to pass the time?" Summer suggested.
"Sure!" Weiss agreed excited reaching for the TV's remote.
Amber stepped off the airship doing very little to fix her messed up hair. They landed at the Patch Airport only a few miles away from the village that their grandfather's cabin that sat on along the outskirts of small town.
"So how are we getting to grandpa's cabin?" Amber asked wiping the sleep out of her eyes.
"We're taking a taxi to the village and we're going to be walking from there." Weiss explained.
"Okay." Amber yawned as she followed her mom through the airport.
They quickly made their way through the airport and as Weiss had explained they got in a taxi and drove to the village nearby the cabin. Grabbing their bags, they thanked the driver and started the walk to the Xio-Long cabin.
The walk only took ten minutes but having to walk through the freezing cold it felt like much longer. It didn't help that it had snowed on the island recently, dumping several inches of snow on the ground.
When the cabin emerged in the distance Amber ran to the door knocking furiously. The door opened quickly, and Amber was tackled to the ground by a girl wrapped in a black cloak.
"AMBER!" She yelled.
"Hey Willow!" Amber greeted pulling back her younger sister's hood allowing her to see her silver eyes and red and black hair tied up in a ponytail. She had grown nearly two inches in the months that Amber had been at Beacon.
"You could have called us!" Willow chastised looking past her older sister and at her mom and eldest sister.
"We've all been pretty busy." Amber tried to explain.
"Well then you have plenty of time to catch us up." Came a new voice. Looking up into the doorway Amber saw her mom Ruby in a winter jacket her red cloak extending down to the floor smiling down at her.
"MOM!" Summer and Amber yelled in unison. Summer ran over grabbing her mom in a tight hug, with Amber joining in after teleporting upright.
"Come on get inside it's cold out here." Ruby said with a shiver as she gestured into the cabin. Everyone complying with Ruby's command walked into the wooden structure. When Ruby closed the door behind her, she grabbed Weiss by the collar and pulled her into a kiss, "I've missed you." She said with a sigh.
"Hey if you're gonna get frisky then go upstairs, there are kids in the room." A male voice joked.
Looking over they saw a tall man with grey hair with a few steaks of blonde hair poking through. He wore a simple outfit consisting of a brown vest and blue pants. He was leaning against the door frame to the kitchen.
"Very funny dad." Ruby spoke up, "On an unrelated note. I'm going to help Weiss unpack." With that Ruby grabbed Weiss by the wrist and dragged her upstairs completely forgetting Weiss' suitcase.
"Have fun." Tai yelled as the loud slam of a door shook the house. Turning towards his granddaughters he saw them all trying to hold back laughter, "It's fine the walls are soundproof." He joked.
The three finally broke and the quite room was filled with laughter. After the room had calmed down a little Tai sat down on the couch and gestured for the others to join him. "So, tell me. What's Beacon like now adays?" He asked.
"Yeah, you guys have been pretty tight lipped about it." Willow but in, sounding like a pout.
"Well, the only major change is that they've installed a new ranking system." Summer explained.
"It's supposed to encourage teams to try and do better to rise through the ranks. If your higher up in the ranks then you can get access to more missions, that's really the only perk that I know of." Amber went on leaving out that high ranking teams have the choice to join special forces under one of the four commanders.
"What are your rankings?" Willow asked with intrigue.
"Well, my team started at rank nine, but that isn't as big of an achievement as Amber's team." Summer answered directing all the attention on her sister.
Amber's face grew red as she looked at the ground. "W-well I'm the leader of my team and we are the first team in the first year to make it into the top ten." She explained.
Willow's face lit up like a Christmas tree and started shouting all kinds of questions at her sisters.
"Willow slow down." Amber interrupted her sister's seemingly unending string of questions.
"How can I!? You two are in the TOP TEN!" She threw her hands in the air to emphasize how important this was. "How did you guys manage to do that?" She finally managed to boil all her other questions into one.
"Well, my team had run enough missions and won enough sparing matches to place us in the tenth spot and we got to nine by beating a higher ranked team." Summer explained.
"Let's see I upgraded my teams weapons so we could fight stronger teams, I kicked the crap out of Summer's partner, did an absolute fuck ton of training with Team ACCE, and I stuck a grenade in the mouth of a huge Grimm during the entrance exam, but I don't know if that counts." Amber explained deep in thought.
Willow giggled, "That sounds a lot like you." She joked.
Amber smiled at her sister's joke when a random thought popped in her head. "Hey Grandpa." She started gaining the full attention of Tai, "Where are we sleeping?"
"Well Ruby and Weiss are having sex in Yang's old room so they're sleeping in there." He started making Amber snort loudly and Willow snicker, "Willow has been sleeping in Ruby's old room, so that means you two have to bunk in the guest room." He finished.
"Uh, you're sure I can't just sleep on the couch?" Summer asked.
"Yeah, for her sanity it might be best." Amber giggled.
Tai sighed a little, "If you really want to then it's fine with me." He stood up slowly and looked down at his watch, "Well I'm going to start dinner, if any of you want to help then feel free to join in."
Willow quickly followed her grandfather into the kitchen and the sounds of sizzling, and the smell of meat filled the house. After a while, the sisters were called into the kitchen to see several plates with open hamburger buns.
"What do you girls like on your burger?" Tai asked.
Telling him their preferences the four of them sat down to eat making sure to set aside two burgers for Ruby and Weiss.
A couple hours after dinner Ruby and Weiss came downstairs in their nightclothes, although it looked like Weiss had just barrowed some of Ruby's.
"Hey, we saved you some dinner." Willow said pointing back towards the kitchen.
Ruby thanked her as she walked past Willow making sure to mess up her hair. Weiss stayed behind and sat down next to Amber.
"What are you guys watching?" She asked.
"Some cop show with zombies." Amber explained.
"Okay then." Weiss acknowledged a little confused. "Well, me and Ruby have an idea for tomorrow." She started gaining the attention of Willow and Summer.
"What is it?" Amber asked tilting her head.
"FAMILY HUNTING TRIP!" Ruby yelled as she walked back into the room with two plates in hand.
The Rose children looked to each other in confusion, "Aren't we supposed to be on break?" Amber spoke up.
"Yeah, and there isn't that many Grimm on patch, most of the ones that are left are killed by the students at Signal." Willow added.
"Well, a small village just east of here is having a problem with a pack of Beowolves and sense Signal is on break." She drew out the last word hoping the others would understand.
"It would be easier to have hunters come and kill the Grimm and sense we are so close to this village you think we should go." Summer finished.
"Precisely!" Ruby said getting excited.
"So, when do we leave?" Amber asked.
"Tomorrow morning." Weiss stated standing up.
"Well in that case I'm heading to bed." Amber announced getting up and heading for the stairs. "Last chance for the bed Summer."
Summer looked a little tempted but remained firm, "I will do just fine down here." She proclaimed.
"Fine by me." And with that Amber left for bed.
The next morning was a pain. Having six people trying to share a single bathroom can get a little chaotic. Amber was first to get up meaning she was able to avoid most of the chaos something that couldn't be said for the other members of her family.
She sat in the living room listening to the yelling and scrambling coming from above her head as she worked on her weapon, Crescent Thorn. She was tightening the screws in the blade when Willow came barreling down the stairs fiddling with her black cloak trying to attach it to her shoulders.
"Need some help?" Amber asked putting down her screwdriver.
"Please." Willow pleaded a little defeated.
Amber teleporting behind her sister quickly attached her cloak to her back. "There you go."
"Thanks Amber." Willow said as she rushed into the weapon room returning with her duel fully automatic submachine gun hand scythes. The scythes were built the same but had different colors, the one on her left side was painted mostly white with black accents appropriately named 'Icicle'. The other on her right had inverse colors with black paint and white accents named 'Thorn'.
Soon after Summer came down the stairs attaching Myrtenaster to her hip, "Mom and Mother aren't ready yet?" She questioned.
"Looks like it." Amber absently stated.
Just then their grandfather tai came down the stairs in his pajamas. "Looks like you three are ready to go."
"You're not coming with us?" Willow questioned.
He chuckled at her question, "Willow I am too old to be going on missions anymore even if the one you're going on is relatively simple."
"That's a shame." Amber sighed.
"Cheer up it's not like I've lost all of my strength yet!" He joked with a confident tone.
Amber smiled a little as she walked back over to where she had left Crescent Thorn folding it back up attaching it to her back.
Ruby and Weiss finally making their way down the stairs quickly went to the weapon room fetching their weapons. Ruby returning with Crescent Rose and Weiss with a simple steel rapier with dust vials attached to her hip.
"Let's get going!" Ruby proudly proclaimed earning a cheer from all present.
They had been walking for well over an hour through the snow and with each passing moment Amber was growing bored. The boredom over coming her she teleported next to her mom and cleared her throat, "Hey mom can I ask you something?" she asked a little apprehensive.
"Sure, what is it Amber?" Ruby smiled cheerily down at her daughter.
"When Headmaster Pine showed up at our place, you seemed mad at him. Why?" She asked looking her mom in the eye.
Ruby taken aback stop walking for a second but resumed her pace aster collecting herself. Clearing her voice, she spoke up. "Well, the last time I saw him was when I was eighteen." She started.
"Aren't you forty?" Amber asked not thinking.
"I'm thirty-nine." Ruby corrected and after a moment sighed deeply, "Have I ever told you about my scar?" She asked.
Ruby had a large, jagged scar that ran diagonally across her right eye. It had been there as long as Amber could remember, but she never questioned it because Weiss had a straight scar across her left eye.
"You got it in your fight with Salem, right?"
"Yeah, but I don't remember a lot from the months leading up to the final battle with her. What I do know is that I woke up in a hospital with a scar across my eye and when I met Oscar again, he told me that he was my boyfriend." Ruby stated sounding dejected.
"Wait seriously!?" Amber blurted out in disbelief.
"Yep, and I agreed to go out with him a few times after that, but he wasn't too keen on helping me with my memory. At one point while we were on a date a memory came back that directly went against what he had been telling me." Ruby looked down at the ground her tone growing an edge.
Amber remained silent as she continued to listen to her mom's story.
"I realized he had been lying to me and I had no idea what was true or not. So, I threw my drink in his face and told him that if I ever saw him again then it would be too soon." She finished the edge in her voice growing into anger.
"What-what happened next." Amber asked quietly.
Ruby took a deep breath calming down a little, "Well I went to my team for help and Weiss, and I grew pretty close and… Well, I'm sure you can figure out the rest." She finished with a chuckle.
Amber chuckled as well, "What was your first date like with mom?" She asked with a bright smile.
Ruby's face lit up and her bright cheery smile somehow became brighter as she started talking, "Well she took me too-." She was cut off by Willow shouting.
"Is that smoke!"
Looking up they saw large plumes of smoke rising from where the village was supposed to be. Everyone drew their weapons on instinct they started running towards the origin of the smoke. The closer they got they could hear the unmistakable sounds of Beowolf barks and growls, as well as a faint of rust.
'Blood.' Amber thought to herself anxiety growing inside her.
They broke through the tree line to see the village they were supposed to help destroyed. The buildings were crumbling with large holes and claw marks in the walls of the cabins blood staining the stone pathways between the houses. The Beowolves responsible roaming around the village sniffing the ground.
One of the wolves head snapped up and made direct eye contact with the family. It roared to alert the other Grimm nearby. The pack responding to the roar charged at the five huntresses.
Ruby quickly responded by pointing the barrel of Crescent Rose at the ground behind her firing a round as she leapt forward sending her flying towards the Grimm. With a single powerful slash upwards decapitating three of the Grimm at once.
Weiss creating a glyph in front of her threw a vile of ice dust into it sending a barrage of ice shards flying into the heard sending several to the floor.
"Summer, cover me!" Amber shouted as she ran at the closest Grimm. Summer following her sisters order created a sheet of ice under the Grimm that were charging at her sister with her semblance. Amber jumped into the air decapitating a Grimm as she did so. At the height of her jump, she teleported in front of the next closest Grimm driving the blade of her weapon into its skull. Removing the blade from the beast she spun around with the help of the ice transforming her weapon into Its gun form slamming down on the trigger aiming at the largest of the pack just over two meters (6.5 feet) charging at her, causing the monster to collapse to the ground and begin to turn to dust.
Willow had been targeted by a rather small member of the pack that had put her on the defense. The beast was rapidly swiping at her forcing her to block. When it went for a powerful downward slash Willow dodged disappearing in a cloud of black rose petals. The Grimm sniffed the air gaining her scent when the blade of a scythe was jammed into the back of its neck, a painful howl emanated from its throat as a second blade was stabbed into the underside of its neck. In a swift invisible motion, the creature's head was separated from its body, and Willow reappeared as black rose petals fell of her skin.
Looking around the whole pack had been killed their bodies fading into the wind. Ruby's hunter instincts in full swing spoke up, "Look to see if there are any survivors, and be careful there might be more of these things." She shouted.
Everyone nodded in unison as they made their way into the village splitting up. Amber had teleported to the far side of the village and had just come across the bodies of a male and female faunas couple. They were of different species, and she was about to leave them when a small sound drew her attention over to a tree with a small faunas girl in the fetal position against the trunk.
Amber immediately teleported over to the girl. She was a rabbit faunas with snow white hair and ears. She was wearing a blue blood-stained dress, and she was uncontrollably crying into her arms.
"Hey your safe now." Amber said as softly as she could.
"M-m-my m-mommy a-and d-daddy..." The girl sobbed.
"I'm sorry, but I couldn't save them." Amber solemnly stated.
The girls crying intensified as she hugged her legs tighter not looking up. Amber reached out placing her hand lightly on the small girl's arm trying to comfort her.
"I lost someone important to me as well. It can be tough, but this feeling of sadness will go away it will just take a while." She quietly comforted.
The girl looked up at Amber for the first time. She had bright blue eyes that had a never-ending stream of tears flowing out of them. "W-what's y-your-your name." She croaked out.
"I'm Amber. Amber Rose."
"I-I-I'm Al-Alison W-Wonder." She got out threw short breaths and sobs.
"Well Alison, are you hurt?" Amber questioned.
Alison slowly nodded as she lifted the hem of her dress to show that she had a deep gash on her ankle and pointing to one of her rabbit ears Amber took notice of a steam of blood coming of a cut along the length of her left ear.
"That has to hurt really bad." Amber mumbled to herself. Faunas with features like ears and tails had lots of nerve endings in those parts of their bodies making them extremely sensitive.
"I-it does." Alison mumbled.
Amber wrapped her arms around Alison pulling her close. Alison grabbed Amber tight in response and began to cry into her shirt. Amber reached into her pocket and pulled out her scroll opening the communication app.
"I've found a survivor. A little girl, she hurt bad. We're in the northern part of town." She put her scroll back in her pocket and waited for her family to arrive.
Ruby and Weiss got the message and Ruby grabbed Weiss using her semblance to quickly carry them to the area that Amber had mentioned. Seeing their daughter Ruby deactivated her semblance and they rushed over to the small girl she was sitting next to.
Weiss crouched down next to the girl assessing her wounds. "That's going to need stitches." She mumbled to herself noticing the gash on her leg.
"Who has the first aid kit?" Amber asked.
"Summer has it." Ruby explained.
Alison had calmed down a little her tears mostly stopping. She had buried her face in Amber's shirt not bothering to look up at the two new voices.
"Hey there. I'm Weiss and this is my wife Ruby. What's your name?" Weiss put on her motherly tone hoping to make the girl feel safer.
She looked up slightly allowing Weiss to see her blue eyes, "Al-Alison." She stuttered.
Ruby approached the faunas slowly and sat down next to her, "Don't worry Alison we're gonna make sure you're safe. Huntresses honor." Ruby promised lightly.
Summer and Willow came running up and Summer gave her mom the first aid kit. Weiss was quick to grab what she needed from the box and started to dress Alison's wounds.
"We need to get her to a hospital." Weiss stated standing up.
"The only hospital is hours away." Ruby spoke up.
"Well then we get walking." Amber firmly stated.
Everyone looked at her a little confused. "Amber her leg is hurt she can't walk a few feet let alone the miles to a hospital." Summer chastised.
"I can carry her back to grandpa's cabin the new can take his car to the city." She clarified standing up picking up Alison giving her a piggyback ride.
"It's the only plan so far." Ruby sighed.
They started the long walk back to the cabin. As they left the village Amber saw the source of the smoke they saw earlier. The villagers had put several piles of hay in the town square and lit them on fire to gain the attention of anyone nearby.
Alison once again buried her face into the back of Amber's shirt, refusing to look up. Ruby had been trying to call her dad to let him know about the situation. After an hour of attempts Ruby was able to get in contact with her dad.
"Hey Rubes, the mission over yet?"
"Dad, the village was attacked we only found one survivor. A little girl. We need you to start the car so we can get her to a hospital. We are about half an hour away. Maybe less I'm not sure." She franticly explained over the phone.
"Oh god. Okay I'll get on that." He hung up after that.
"H-how much longer?" Alison whispered into Amber's shoulder.
"Not much." Amber replied raising a hand to pat the back of her head.
When the Xio-Long cabin came into view through the trees Amber rushed towards the car running past her grandfather and placing Alison in the back seat getting in next to her. Ruby jumped into the front seat getting the keys from her dad and Weiss got in the front passenger seat.
They sped off towards the city leaving Summer, Willow and Tai behind. "Is she going to be okay?" Tai asked sounding very concerned.
"Yes, she just needs some stiches. We don't know if she has any internal injuries, but she should be fine." Summer explained.
"Good." Tai sighed in relief only for his relief to turn to pain as he started to cough violently forcing him to his knees.
"GRANDPA!" Summer yelled in horror.
"I'm fine." He coughed out getting up with the help of Willow.
"Let's get you inside." Willow half suggested.
Alison had been brought out of surgery for a few hours now and was asleep In the recovery room. She had to get several stitches and had a broken arm, and two broken ribs. Amber was sitting in the chair next to the faunas girl's bed waiting for her parents to come back to the room.
Ruby and Weiss came back in looking a little dazed. "What happened?" Amber asked worried and confused.
"It's Alison." Ruby started. "She doesn't have any living family left." She explained.
"So, what they're just going to send her into foster care?" Amber asked her voice growing a slight edge.
"Unless…" Weiss started gaining a weird look from Ruby, "Unless we adopt her." She stated.
Ruby's gaze wandered from Weiss to Amber, and then to Alison. She was about to speak but Amber beat her to it.
"Well then sign the damn forms!" She shouted. Alison on the bed behind her let out a soft groan.
"Amber be quite!" Weiss whisper yelled.
"Look Amber this isn't a simple decision we need time to think it over." Ruby explained.
Amber gritted her teeth and clenched her fists as the anger boiled inside her. Weiss reached out to place her hand on Amber's shoulder only for her daughter to vanish in a cloud of white rose petals.
Amber teleported to the roof leaning against a nearby wall she slid down to the floor. She let out a heavy sigh tucked her knees t other chest. A few minutes had passed when a faint buzzing in her pocket pulled her out of her thoughts. Not looking at the caller I.D she picked up.
"Hello?" She greeted.
"Hey there cadet." A feminine voice greeted energetically.
Amber bolted to her feet, "C-Commander Adel!?" She spoke in surprise.
"Yeah, I just spoke to your teammates, and they said you were visiting your grandfather on Patch." She spoke casually as she wandered through a random clothing store.
"Yeah, I'm with my family." She explained. "Why are you calling?" She asked involuntarily.
Coco chuckled on the other end, "Just to let you know that we've moved up the date for your first mission to right when you get back."
"Why?"
"A town on the border of Vale and Mistral has reported a new mutation. The report says that a Beringel with white fur and black armor has been roaming the area around the village." She explained taking a dress off a rack to examine it.
"Beringels resemble gorillas, right?" Amber asked for confirmation.
"Yep. The town has been mostly Grimm free for a few decades now, so they are pretty worried about a powerful strange looking Grimm lurking around their borders." Coco took a moment too look around to make sure no one was listening. "Sense this mission is along the border of two kingdoms we will be joined by the Mistral Special Forces Team led by Commander Regal. I've worked with him before and he can be a little stuck up, and the team he is in command of is the number one team in Haven Academy that's also in the fourth year."
"I understand." Amber confirmed.
"Good, now like I said I already I've already filled in your teammates so they can fill you in on some of the details when you get back."
"Got it." She confirmed again.
"Now on that note. Have a nice break Amber." She said brightly.
"You too commander. I'll see you when I get back on Friday." Amber stated hanging up.
"First mission is in a week. I guess I should start training so I'm fully prepared." She mumbled to herself, activating her semblance she vanished from the hospital roof reappearing right outside her grandfather's cabin feeling a little nauseous.
Her semblance had a range limit that when first discovered only let her teleport a few feet at a time, but after years of training allowed her to teleport anywhere within five miles of where she was standing.
Her grandfather's cabin sat well out of that range but through a loophole that let her artificially extend her range to places she knew well or had strong connections to. This only let her extend her range by a small bit and if she tried to teleport to Beacon from Patch, she would most likely die from the side effects of her semblance.
For this teleport she had to nearly double her range and it left her feeling a little queasy. Shaking off the side effects she walked into the cabin being rushed by her two sisters.
"Is she okay!?" Willow practically yelled.
"Where is Mom and Mother?" Summer asked eyeing the door.
'Oh, right.' Amber thought to herself.
"Alison is fine just some stitches and a couple casts, and I just teleported home." Amber explained leaving out that she had forgotten all about why she was at the hospital in the first place.
A visible wave of relief washed over her sisters. "Well, if you guys need me, I'm going to be training out back." She proclaimed as she brushed by her two sisters and out the back door, unsheathing Crescent Thorn activating its scythe form and taking up her battle stance.
"Can't let my skills get rust know, can I?"
Next Chapter; First Mission
Well it's been a minutes hasn't it. I posted chapter four a month ago now, my bad. I started a new story called 'The Petal and the Thorn' (It's if Ruby had an identical twin) and I wanted to get that to the same number of chapters as this and it took a lot longer then I thought it would. Still my bad.
Other than that. When I was writing this I realized that Amber had some ADD issues and sense I based parts of her personality on myself that makes sense so I decided to lean into it here.
I rewrote the summery sense the old one was pretty bad.
Someone asked about why Ruby was mad as Oscar way back in chapter one, and I had the idea for why the whole time but had some trouble finding a way to fit it in naturally luckily I found a good spot here.
I now have to think of an entire team because I have no idea what the Mistral S.F. team would look or act like. The only facts i have at the moment are that they are the number one team in Haven, and work under Commander Regal who I do have a design and personality for.
In the next chapter I will be revealing a part of Amber's and her whole family's past that I have been dropping hints about in every chapter. It doesn't take a genius to take a good guess at what it is, but I have been holding back long enough so all will be explained soon.
Farewell foe now.
