I HOPE YOU ENJOY THIS STORY I WROTE THIS STORY BECAUSE I WAS SURPRISED TO FIND THAT THERE WERE NO OTHER CLONE DESERTER STORIES SURELY CUT WASN'T THE ONLY ONE
Canvas squad was filing onto a ship they had just graduated and became troopers. They were excited to be going on their first mission and to meet their new general and commander.
"Commander Cody of the two twelth attack battalion I cannot believe we will be working with him" Greenie said excitedly.
"I know we'll also get to work with General Kenobi I bet he's the coolest jedi" Bluey added.
However CT 6353 nicknamed Blackie couldn't share his squadmates excitement. He was very nervous and almost wished they could stay for some more training. He didn't feel ready but the war was demanding more clones so newer clones often had to be rushed onto the frontlines before they could complete their training sure they graduated but he didn't feel like a trooper he felt more like a frightened child on their first day of school he wished it was as simple as that but him and his premature brothers are being sent to war. He looked out the viewport as they exited the atmosphere. It felt weird leaving Kamino. He had been born there, he grew up there well sort of grew up in a weird accelerated growth kinda way he already felt homesick.
"I don't know guys were going to Umbara I heard it's completely dark there all the time the sun never shines" Blackie said.
"The sun never shone on Kamino either it always rained" Greenie pointed out.
"Yea but it wasn't perpetually night" Blackie fidgeted uncomfortably.
"Aren't you excited we're finally going to our first mission and it's not some lame outpost guarding mission" Pinky said.
"I wish we got to stay longer and finish training" Blackie admitted.
"Oh come on what more did we need to learn obey orders blast droids win fights that's all we needed to know" Greenie said.
"Don't worry we'll be with way more experienced soldiers" Brownie placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder.
"Yea what could possibly go wrong" Bluey said.
Blackie tried to relax but he just couldn't, something felt wrong in the pit of his stomach and the closer they got to Umbara the worse his feelings of unease got. His heart was pounding so hard he was afraid it would burst out his chest he doesn't know why it felt like he couldn't catch his breath. He began to shake as his breaths came out faster and faster.
"Blackie? Brother what's wrong?" Brownie was concerned.
"Somethings not right we have to turn back please we can't go there" tears welled in Blackie's eyes.
"Calm down brother you're just having some first battle nerves I'm sure everything will be fine" Brownie reassured him.
"Yea brother we're all in this together we got your back here and there" Bluey rubbed his back.
"I'm sorry I'm being so pathetic" his shoulders sagged.
"Don't worry we'll get through our first battle together" Greenie said.
A while later the alarm sounded letting them know that they were coming out of hyperspace the ship jerked out of hyperspace as a dark red planet came into view. The planet looked eerie. Who knows what horrors were awaiting them on that planet they were loaded onto a smaller transport ship as they entered the atmosphere of Umbara far below Blackie could already see lasers flying everywhere they were transported to their destination. They grabbed their guns and and disembarked well here we go Blackie breathed in the familiar shock of confusion and chaos. He heard men shouting in both pain and determination. They were approached by a clone who's white armor had the orange markings of a commander.
"Welcome to the two twelth my name is Commander Cody your new boss" he said.
"I'm Greenie that's Bluey Brownie Pinky and Blackie" Greenie fought hard not to fanboy.
"We'll get to know eachother better later but for now we have a battle to win I want you guys to join Waxer's platoon they're going to stop some Umbarans that stole our armor and weapons so be cautious they look like clones but they aren't clones" Cody said.
"Yessir!" the voices chimed.
They joined their other brothers as they headed to engage the enemy. They spotted a group of similar looking soldiers and they exchanged fire. Blackie had to remind himself over and over that they weren't actually clones. just then he heard Pinky cry out in pain. He jerked his head to the left so hard he almost gave himself whiplash there his squadmate lay unmoving on the ground there was a hole in his chestplate over his heart it was clear Pinky was dead. He shouted his brother's name and moved toward him but another clone stopped him and told him to forget him for the time being. He looked around for his other squadmates; he turned just in time to see Brownie get hit; horror flooded him this couldn't be happening. He momentarily forgot he was on a battlefield as he froze.
"Blackie brother stay with me we're still here" Bluey comforted him.
And Greenie pressed closer to him comforted by the closeness of his squadmates he regained his composure and continued firing he felt a certain hatred towards the enemies for killing two of his squadmates the two sides continued to mercilessly rail on each other brothers were dropping left and right suddenly a clone he believed to be Captain Rex was running across the battlefield shouting.
"Hold you fire hold your fire we're all clones!" he yelled.
No it couldn't be true sure enough the "enemies" took their helmets off and they too were clones bile rose in Blackie's throat as he realized he had killed some of his brothers and his squadmates were killed by fellow clones he heard Greenie's anguished cry. He looked over to see him crouched over Bluey how could something so horrible have happened. He knew they shouldn't have come to this force forsaken place.
…
Blackie stumbled into the refresher he grabbed onto the counter to steady himself he felt sick to his stomach and struggled not to retch. He couldn't believe the day's events he had killed his own brothers and to make matters worse it was a jedi that had executed the whole thing he intentionally made the 501st and the 212th fire upon each other it was sick it was evil. He couldn't fathom why a jedi would do such a heinous thing it brought him some comfort to know that the jedi responsible for causing him and his brothers so much pain is dead. He sank to the floor, tears pricked his eyes as he began to sob for his squadmates for his brothers that had been killed on both sides and for the ones who were tricked into killing their own. A while later he emerged from the refresher and headed to the barracks he was physically and emotionally exhausted and just wanted to sleep the trauma away. He entered the barracks, the mood was somber as brothers wept and tried to come to terms with what had happened that day. He climbed into his bunk and closed his eyes. He felt his bunk move as Greenie climbed onto it with him but since the bunk was only designed for one person Greenie was on top of him. Greenie buried his face in Blackie's chest, a sob shook Greenie's body as his tears soaked into his blacks. He ran his hand up and down Greenies back in a hopeless attempt to soothe him. He knew he was crushed by his squadmates' deaths but he also knew that Bluey's death hit him especially hard Greenie and Bluey were batch neighbors Greenie was CT 5655 and Bluey was CT 5656 the two had been inseparable pretty much since they came out of their growth tanks. Greenie gripped Blackie's blacks as he cried his heart out, tears rolled down Blackie's cheeks as he felt his brother's broken heart.
People don't understand that it doesn't matter how much the Kaminoans bred them to withstand the horrors of war they were still human beings with their own feelings and thoughts. Blackie wondered how in the world they're going to move on from today he wanted to escape it even if for just a moment in dreamland. He was also afraid that today's horrors would haunt his dreams. Finally weariness overtook him and he fell asleep. The next morning he and Greenie were sitting in the mess getting some food there were three less brothers at the table. Another wave of grief hit him so powerful it took his breath away. His heart ached for his brother. He was miserable; he just poked at his food; they wouldn't have much time to grieve though as today they would be heading out again. Blackie could not go through that again if one Jedi did it. Who's to say another isn't capable of it? He wanted no part of this war but truthfully what choice did he have? Clones had to fight in this war whether they wanted to or not. He swallowed back anger. It was so unfair it's not like he could just leave he froze or could he. No way how would he get of this rock without anyone noticing unless he-
"What are you thinking about?" Greenie cut into his thoughts.
"Just everything that happened yesterday" Blackie sighed.
"Well I guess we're back at it today" Greenie rose and put his helmet on.
"Oh yea uh I'll catch up with you" Blackie said.
Greenie just nodded and left Blackie rushed to the refresher to enact his plan.
