The first time that John Constantine was able to get back to Mount Carmel since Hallelujah was born was four years later. The newborn baby that he had once held in his arms was now four years old. He hadn't been trying to stay away, he just got busy. It seemed that life or someone was always pulling him in one direction or the other.

When he walked in through the front door Hallelujah was sitting on the ground in the playroom that stemmed off from the foyer. She was playing with her older brother Bodhi.

Hearing the footsteps, Hallelujah glanced up to see John. She didn't know this man, but that mattered little to her. She smiled at him, standing up and giving him a big hug as she demanded to be picked up.

This shocked John to his core. Most kids ran away from him. It probably had to do with his damned soul and the fact that kids were usually pretty sensitive to things like that. They're pretty intuitive and can sense evil. Not that John was evil, but he wouldn't have considered himself to be good either.

Nevertheless, John picked up Hallelujah, holding her in his arms once again. The first time in four years. But this time it wasn't a cradle hold, he was holding her against his chest as she was looking him in the eyes.

Hallelujah stared into John's eyes, blinking a couple times. She looked so innocent, but there was a wisdom in those baby eyes of hers.

"I see you." She uttered, "The real you. John."

John's eyes widened, "Um...okay. Where's your dad?"

"He's with Mummy and Cyrus."

John nodded, "Okay. Who's around, other than you and Bodhi?"

He looked over into the playroom at Bodhi, who was too wrapped up in building his model rocket ship to even see or notice John.

Hallelujah shrugged, "Mmm...I think Mama Larry might be in the kitchen."

John set Hallelujah down and then headed off to the kitchen.

Now standing on the ground as John was walking away, Hallelujah watched him intently. She really did see the real him. She knew about his damned soul, but she also knows that he's a good man.

"I'm gonna save you, John." Hallelujah mutters to herself.

- Present Day -

John has been so depressed for the last two years that he hasn't left his mansion. It was two years ago that he lost Zari. She had died saving him, but he didn't deserve it. He didn't deserve the love that she had given him and he definitely didn't deserve her sacrifice.

As John was drowning his sorrows in a bottle of whiskey - the fifth bottle he had drank today, and it was only noon. He never really slept anymore, so when he say the glowing image of a little girl appear in front of him, he thought he was hallucinating. That was until the girl called his name and he recognised her voice.

"John!" She called, "John Constantine!"

He glanced up from his bottle of whiskey, confusion evident in his eyes, "Halle?"

'How could this be?' He thought. He had heard on the news that she had died.

"Take my hand, John." She told him, extending her hand towards him

"But you're dead." He countered

She nodded, "Yes, and I'm here to redeem you. To give you a chance to mend your soul."

"I don't deserve it."

"Yes, you do."

He huffed, "Why? My soul is damned."

"God can redeem anyone, and He wants you. He sent me down to redeem you so you can join us in heaven for the end that is to come."

John let out a deep breath as he finally took Hallelujah's hand.

In the blink of an eye, John found himself someplace in-between heaven and hell. He could see all of the earth below him through one window - not like a house window, more like a portal window. There were two of these portal windows. One showed earth and the other showed hell. John looked above him and saw heaven.

He turned his attention back to Hallelujah, "What is this place?"

"It's a neutral place between heaven and hell."

John furrowed his eyebrows, "So...purgatory?"

Hallelujah shook her head, "No. Not really. That doesn't actually exist. This is a bit different because it's a special circumstance. No one has ever been here before."

"Oh." John uttered, shocked.

He couldn't really believe that he was special enough for this kind of treatment. He wondered what kind of purpose God might have for him. What his purpose in heaven could possibly be.

"Alright. Sit down." Hallelujah told him as she herself took a seat

John nodded as he sat down across from Hallelujah. He was surprised by what she did next. She took his hands, but she this time it felt different. It wasn't like when she had came to him on earth and he took her hand to come here.

This time she didn't really have hands. It was just a glow that covered his hands.

John closed his eyes feeling his hands become warm. It made him feel warm inside. He felt himself changing and his self-esteem improving. He was feeling better about himself. He didn't feel so damned anymore.

The longer the glow covered his hands, the deeper he got into his thoughts and feeling. He didn't know how long it had been. Time seemed to be passing a little bit differently in this neutral place, but eventually he got to the root of his problems. He realised that his soul had never been damned. It was he who had decided he was damned. He had made so many mistakes in life that didn't feel worthy of anything better than hell, so he told himself that his soul was damned.

More time had passed by. Then feeling like the ground was pulling away from underneath him, John opened his and saw that both he and Hallelujah were floating up. He was alarmed for a little bit, but then he saw all the white and heard the sounds of the most peaceful, most wonderful music playing. That was when he looked further in through the white and saw angels playing harps. Beyond them John saw a throne and at the base he saw the feet of God. His eyes widened with fear and shock. He could believed that he had really made it to heaven. In his shock, John just stared with his mouth agape. He didn't know what to say.

"Hello, my child." John heard the voice of God greet him, "It's good to see you again."

"Uh...I...hi." John stuttered out, nervously.

Hallelujah smiled and just skipped over to the throne of God, "Hello, Father."

God picked up Hallelujah, placing her on His lap, before motioning for John to come closer, "Come on. I don't bite."

John nodded, walking right up to the throne, "Yes, Sir...Father. I mean, Your Majesty."

God chuckled, "Father is fine, John. I am your Father after all."

"Yes. Right of course." John replied, "I don't mean to question You, but what is Your plan for me. Why am I here?"

"All in due time, my child, all in due time."

Meanwhile back on earth, whoever landed on the Beebo earth is now on Earth-38. The had just landed their ship and then made a five mile trek just to stand within view of the land that Mount Carmel was built on. Walking a little bit further, they smiled as they now stood at the end of the long drive/walkway up to the door of Mount Carmel.

"Finally. I have arrived."

They took their time strolling up to the front door, and waited a few seconds before knocking on it.

It didn't talk as long as their walk did for someone to open the door. They didn't wait for the person to say anything, they just could right to the chase.

"I'm here for the mother of the Beeboes." They said, "I'm here for Mayanah Schneider."

Hope you enjoy. Comments are greatly appreciated. In fact, they keep me going.

What would you like to see happen next?

Who did you think the 'they' is? What do you think they want? Why do they want Mayanah? And who inside Mount Carmel answered the door?
