Back at Angel Island, Knuckles' wounds were tended to and he just woke up, and Sonic and Tails helped him to his feet.
"Daddy…" Laura said meekly, "It can't be true."
"Will you be ok?" Asked Locke II.
"Yeah," agreed Pachacamac II, "the Dark Leginoers…"
"I'll be ok, guys." Knuckles assured, hugging Locke II, Laura and Pachacamac II.
"The wounds aren't too deep." Tikal hugged her husband and three children "your daddy will be fine."
The other mobains were gathered together, having heard the news of what happened to their guardian. Amy was about to go up and join them, when she spotted someone coming up the path.
"It's Rutan." She cried.
"What's he doing here?" Asked Charmy.
"That's Jaker." Said Cream, clinging to Lorriane.
"Look at that scar..." Trailed Khan, clinging to his two sons John and Scott.
"I can't believe he's here." Rotor did the same with his childrens Stella, Boomer and Gadget.
"That's Rutan?" Asked Cosmo, protectively holding Flora and Alex's hands.
"Rutan!" Laura cried, about to run toward him, but Knuckles glares and jumps forward, cutting her off. Rutan approaches down the narrow aisle between the congregated mobains.
"I never trusted him..." Said Manic, standing close to Melody.
"It's the Dark Legioner..." Whispered Sonia, keeping Erik and Camilla close.
"It's that little troublemaker…" Trailed Ruby to Zokar and Aleena.
"What's he doing here?!" Cried Tails.
"After what he did to our brother!" Snapped Sonic. "Let me at that punk! Hold me back!"
"Sonic…"
The other mobains were still very unsure about this.
"What's he doing here?..." Asked Sally, keeping Casey and Susan close to her.
"He doesn't belong here..." Rouge looked wary of this, holding Jewel's hand.
"Look at that scar on his face..." Ruby said quietly.
"It makes him look like Finitevus…" Added Shadow, keeping Silver close.
Rutan then saw Knuckles at the top of the shrine.
"Why have you come back?" Snapped the Guardian.
"Knuckles..." Rutan ventured, "I had nothing to do with—"
"You don't belong here."
"Please... I ask your forgiveness."
"Daddy, please..." Begged Laura "listen to him!"
"Silence!" Cried Knuckles to his daughter, then he turned to Rutan "When you first came here, you asked for judgment..."
"Give him what he deserves!" Called Antoine, his family beside him.
"...And I pass it now."
"Kick him out!" Speed, Nick, Alex and Flora chipped in.
"That's right!" Said Erick, Camilla, Melody, Boomer, Gadget and Scott.
"Judgement day is here!" Casey, John, Susan, Stella, Lorraine and Mike put in.
"Exile!" Knuckles commanded.
"NO!" Laura was in tears and hugged her mum.
"Knuckles, you can't!" Tikal called.
"Exile him!" Came Amanda-Su, Henry Bian-Ca and Jane.
"Exile!" Rift, Matthew, Jani-Lu and Jani-Na came in.
"Exile!" Echoed Locke II, Pachacamac II, Gideon, Emma, Jeremiah and Buddy.
Laura was crushed, and Tikal was also very disappointed, and so were Pachacamac, Gala-Na and Lara-Le.

Vector and Vanilla watch Rutan leave, from a distance, disappointed that the matchmaking was for nought after all.
"Ohh… I knew this wouldn't work…"
Back at the M.E. Shrine, Knuckles is standing at the top of it, looking into the distance.
"Father..." Laura cried, "please reconsider!"
"You will not go anywhere without an escort from now on." Knuckles glared.
"No! That's not—"
"He used you to get to me!"
"NO!" Laura got desperate. "He loves me... for me!"
"Because you are my daughter! You will not go any further than the Master Emerald shrine." Knuckles declared. "You will stay where I can keep an eye on you... away from him."
"You don't know him!"
"I know he's following in Fintivous' footsteps... and I must follow in my father's."
Laura's heart finally snapped.
"YOU WILL NEVER BE LOCKE!"
Knuckles is stung, but silenced. Tikal gave her husband such a look which only broke the former's heart even more.
Laura breaks down and runs back to her room to lie down, sobbing on her bed.
Seeing the reaction of their sister and cousin, Locke II, Pachacamac II, Gideon, Emma, Jani-Na and Jane began to feel terrible. Although they had done the right thing, seeing Laura upset crushed them inside.
The two brothers and four cousins went to talk to their sister, but she had locked herself in her room
"Laura. Are you ok?" asked Jane.
"Do you need someone to talk to?" asked Pachacamac II.
"Please, come out." Begged Gideon and Emma.
"Leave me alone." Cried Laura, still sobbing "I do not want to speak with anybody, ESPECIALLY SOMEONE WHO HELPED TO EXILE HIM!"
"But you don't understand. He is dangerous." Jani-Na protested.
"He could have hurt you if Dad had not exiled him." Locke II added.
"Did you five know him for the trial?" Laura chocked, "In the days he was here you didn't even come to talk to him. You only stayed to spy on him to find a flaw in it to prove that he had not changed."
"And if you're wondering how I know, it is because I heard some rustling in the bushes and some video cameras." She continued while growling and crying.
"And yes, I found your videos too. I had not said anything, because I thought you would get bored doing that. I always thought I could trust you, but now I realize that the only ones I can trust are mom, our grandmothers Lara-Le and Gala-Na, and grandfather Pachacamac. Now leave me alone. I never want to talk to you AGAIN!" The red echidna finished hatefully.
Both brothers and the three cousins turned away from their sister's/cousin's room with great remorse. Now they had finally opened their eyes. They had to do something to fix this. They quickly went to look for their friends.
"Have you gone mad." Asked Amanda-Su and Henry.
"After all what happened, you are going back for him?" Bian-Ca snarled.
"First you don't trust him, now you change your minds." Rift looked on, indigent.
"Do you realise that Laura's family is now safe." Jani-Lu gaped.
"Isn't that what you wanted?" asked Matthew.
"Yes," Locke II sighed, "but we have now realised Laura is more upset than ever and we must fix our mistake."
"So will you help us?" Asked Pachacamac II.
"Come on, guys." Begged Jane. "We want to make this right."
"We feel really bad." Gideon added.
"We hurt Laura, big time." Emma said.
"And Rutan too." Jani-Na put in.
"Well, I guess I could." Jeremiah looked at the brothers and cousins bravely, "But our parents will realise we've gone missing."
"Yes." Rift agreed, "Mom and Dad won't like us to go in search of an exile. It's a bit risky..."
"There's no need to worry." Locke II advised, "If we go right now they won't realize."
"And if they ask," his brother continued, "we will take responsibility for this. What do you say?"
"Well, OK." Amanda-Su agreed.
"If it's for Laura, I'll go." Henry said.
"Although it is dangerous, I'll take my chances." Bian-Ca had a determined look.
"Count me in." Rift nodded.
"I will not turn back now." Matthew gave a thumbs up.
"Me neither." Jani-Lu also got ready for an adventure.
"My brother and I are in." Jeremiah said with confidence, and Buddy readily agreed.
"We'll go." Boomer and Gadget put in.
"We'll be there and back before our parents know we're gone." Stella added with a nod.
"I'll go as well." Speed chimed.
"I'll go too." Nick also raised his hand "After all… my dad did help with the whole 'matchmaking' business."
"And they do look kinda cute together." Lorraine and Mike noted.
"Although it goes against what my father taught me, I will go." Erick and Camilla said at last.
"Us too." Flora and Alex agreed.
"We'll come too." Silver pumped a fist, and Jewel nodded firmly.
"Count us in." Casey, John Susan and Scott chorused.
"Don't leave me out." Added Melody.
"Thank you very much." Locke II smiled, "We knew we could count on you."
"Well, we'd better go now. Before our families realize." Pachacamac II ushered the group to go.
But before they could leave, the two echidna brothers were grabbed by two hands. Turning around they realized it was their grandfather Pachacamac. And beside him were their grandmothers Lara-Le and Gala-Na.
"Where are you going?" Asked Pachacamac.
"Nowhere." responded the grandsons, granddaughter and great niece and nephew.
"We know where you are going, because we were listening to their conversation." said Gala-Na.
All of them were nervous, thinking they were going to get into trouble without even having done anything yet.
"Don't worry." Lara-Le assured, "We agree with your decision. We only came to give you this."
They were given a basket full of food and water for the trip.
"Don't worry." The grandparents reassured, "We've got it covered."
"Thank you very much." The children smiled.
And finally all friends left Angel Island to look for Rutan.
