Chapter One- the Mansion
"I can't believe Warren left!" said Katniss. "Yeah, I know. I think he went because of Sam." Said James. "YOU TWO! Any more talking and you will be having a detention!" They were in the science classroom on a late Friday afternoon. They were almost finished the lesson with four minutes to go and did not want to get a detention. "And then if we do the—Oh! Professor Xavier! What a lovely surprise!" the teacher put on a fake smile when the Professor came in. "I wish to speak to Katniss Worthington and James Blossoms." He said, his eyes rolling over the class. Katniss and James stood up and followed the Professor out of the classroom. Katniss closed the door as James asked, "Did you need us for something?" Katniss looked behind the Professor and saw a girl almost as pretty as she was. She had sharp features and jet-black hair that was cut just above her shoulders.
"This is Penny Den. Penny; this is Katniss Worthington and James Blossoms. They will be helping you around the school." Penny nodded. "Katniss. Her power is being able to make people see their greatest fears. Be careful." Said the Professor into Katniss' head. Katniss nodded. "Alright. Penny, there is no point getting you to start science seeing as there is one minute left, how about Katniss and James give you the tour?" asked the Professor and Penny nodded again. "So, Penny. Where you from?" asked Katniss. Penny noticed that Katniss had a slight British accent. She tried to get into her head but Katniss was expecting this and blocked her. "I wouldn't do that if I were you." Said Katniss.
"How did you—" gasped Penny when she tried James. "We were warned." Said James. "And if you want people to like you I would not do that." Said Katniss as they climbed the stairs. "You do it." Said Penny stubbornly. "No I don't. Especially not on purpose of hurting people." Said Katniss coldly. "Well. I think I can find my way then." Said Penny, equally coldly. She turned on her heel and stormed off. "I think you just found someone as cold as you." Said James. "I am only cold when I want to be. But I agree. She was a witch." Agreed Katniss. "Well, I am going to tell the Professor he just enrolled a witch." Said Katniss and went back down the stairs.
Penny was angry. "She does do it. Her greatest fear was that she would lose control of her power." She mumbled. The bell rang and Penny heard a loud noise coming towards her. Suddenly she caught in a stampede of children as they left the classrooms. Penny looked around and saw three girls at the back of the students. They were laughing at other students who dropped their books and were looking at others with disgust. Penny walked over to them and introduced herself. "Hello. My name is Penny!" she said. "Penny?" asked the blonde haired one. "Who names their child 'Penny'?" sneered the black haired one. "It is short for Penelope!" said Penny angrily. "Ha! That is even worse! It rhymes with envelope!" said the ginger haired one, and all three of them started laughing at her. "Well, what are your names?" asked Penny, wanting to make fun of them.
"Catlin!" said the black haired one. "Cora." Said the blonde one. "Molly." Said the ginger haired one. "Oh. They are normal names." Thought Penny. "And do you like Katniss or James?" asked Penny. "What? We hate them! Well, James is handsome, but Katniss is a witch! We hate her!" said Cora. "Well, we can agree on something! What can you do?" asked Penny. "Well, I can control water!" said Cora. "I can make my hair and eyes go different colours." Said Molly. "I can talk to animals." Said Catlin. "Well, I can make people see their biggest fears!" boasted Penny. "Well, I just think we found our new friend!" said Cora. Penny smiled. Katniss was going to regret she ever said anything bad about Penelope Den.
