Chapter 291

.

President Odonnell knew he had been the last president of the United States of America. The old broders didn't exist anymore, but he hoped to bring some it's ideals to this new world. It seemed he would have a long time to do it, he had been 90 when this battle occured, now he looked to be in his early 30s again, and felt it. They were still taking a census, trying to learn who had survived the battle, but he knew that his counterpart, the Ambassador, had died. Odonnell was relieved to learn that the other version of his granddaughter Amy had survived, as far as he could tell she was the only one of his family to survive. She sought him out, somewhat confused.

.

Odonnell: I was sorry to hear about your grandfather.

Amy; Thank you. Some are saying there's a reason why some people survived and some didn't. Guys like Lucifer, Kaliback, Anakin Skywalker. I can see why maybe it's better that they're not around in the new world, can't corrupt it. So why am I alive?

Odonnell: I'm not sure I buy this argument. At any rate you are a good person.

Amy: Am I? I planted bombs, killed innocent people.

Odonnell: From what I heard you were kidnapped, brainwashed, did what you had to do to survive.

Amy: It just seems wrong that I should live, and so many good people died. One woman survived the battle, her daughter did not. And one woman, robbed a pharmacy to save her sick child. They died, and I didn't.

Odonnell: I don't know what the grand order is, or if there is one. But I do know that we can do our best to make the new world better. And we can help each other out when the grief becomes too much.

Amy: Okay, sounds like a plan.
