Peter's POV
It had been three months since Edmund had passed away. Each and every day felt harder than the day before. Since Edmund's death Peter had spent every waking moment taking care of not only his family, but his as well.
Aurora had given birth to a baby boy about a week ago and had been struggling with depression ever since Edmund's death. She barely left her room or got out of bed anymore. She was not even interested in caring for the child. Peter had to hire a nanny to take care of Matthew as Aurora only seemed to care enough to feed the baby, but nothing else.
At this moment he was in the nursery with his nephew and rocking the child who had been crying for the last hour. Finally Matthew stopped crying and fell asleep. Peter sat down in the rocking chair with him and sighed softly. With a somber face he looked down at Matthew. "Ed, your son needs you. Why did you have to die like that?"
At that moment he started to feel like there was somebody in the room with him. He could not explain why he suddenly felt this way but he did. A moment later he was surprised when he saw Aslan standing in front of him.
He immediately stood up, nearly waking Matthew with his sudden movements. "Aslan, what are you doing here? I was not expecting you."
"I came to inform that it is time. Your brother will be returned to you in one month's time. But he will remember nothing. All of you must be patient with him and show him what he needs to know," Aslan explained softly to Peter. "Bringing him back will be a shock for many in Narnia and people who were hoping that he stayed dead will surely hunt him down. You must protect him at all costs. If young Edmund dies again I will not be able to bring him back anymore."
Peter immediately nodded his head. "I understand. I will ensure that he stays safe from all dangers."
Aslan nodded his head with a smile. "Good. Then prepare for him to come back." With that Aslan left Peter alone in the nursery with Matthew.
