3 Days before the Olympic events.
Out in the snowy wonderland that was Christmas Village, a place in the wonderful and lively region of Vancouver Canada, there were many people walking around the shopping district of the town, many with bags filled with all sorts of souvenirs. Walking down the clear road of the town, a human woman, Princess Peach, and a pink hedgehog, Amy Rose, were currently walking towards the center of the town and headed for the boutique. As they stepped into the establishment, they were talking about the events they were scheduled to be in. Both of them had gotten to know each other from some time before, and they had the chance to be good friends with each other. So getting the chance to meet each other again was a treat for both of them.
"It's nice that I have time to go shopping." Said Amy.
"Your telling me." Peach laughed. "I was practicing all day yesterday for the events that I have to compete in. Not to mention that I have my royal duties to attend to, all of which since we got here yesterday."
Amy looked up at the princess with a quizzical look.
"How is that? You prepared everything before leaving to come here, right?"
"Well, yes, but I still have a few toads over at my castle to watch the kingdom, and I write letters with them to check on everything and to handle whatever needs my attention."
Amy nodded, looking around the shop for a bit and looked back at Peach.
"I see. That must take more than whatever time you would have right now."
"It's not all that bad, Amy. I'm a very responsible adult and can handle stress quite well."
"Speaking of stress, I'm curious as to how the events will turn out. I know I have a team figure skating event schedueled, and I hope I can have Sonic as my partner."
Peach giggles and pats her back.
"I hope for the best for you, Amy."
"Oh, Peach. Don't you have a figure skating event scheduled too?"
"I do, but mine's a solo routine."
Amy nods and they continue to look at some of the clothes that they had in the boutique. They walked past a few racks of clothing which had everything from snowboarding and skiing gear like helmets and goggles, and even some beanies too. Peach noticed an outfit with the skating stuff that caught her attention while they were walking. She smiles and goes to pick it up.
"Oh! This looks beautiful!"
Amy saw that Peach had grabbed a white dress with sleeves that was cut on one side to make it look long on one side of the dress, giving it that cutoff look and it had some glitters of gold around it as well.
"That looks pretty, Peach."
"And too girly if you ask me."
Both Peach and Amy turned around after hearing the voice behind her, and saw that Daisy was standing behind her, arms crossed but she had a smile on her face as she chuckled a bit.
"Hello, Daisy." Peach smiled. "Are you shopping too."
Daisy nodded and let out a small chuckle.
"Yeah, I'm looking for some cool gear that I can wear for my events."
Peach thought for a bit and smiled.
"Oh yeah, you have a snowboard cross and skeleton event right?"
"The skeleton was changed to a bobsleigh event, but yeah." Daisy said. "The problem is that I can't find anything that'll fit my style."
"You don't have to get anything if you don't want to, Daisy." Amy smiled.
"I know that, but I'm hoping to at least have something for when I trample the competition."
"Not everything is a competition, Daisy." Peach giggles.
"That's funny. Last I checked, we're in the Olympic games, where we participate in competitive sports." Daisy laughed as well, putting emphasis on competitive.
"I'm just saying. Win or lose in these events, the most important part is that we all have a good and fun time."
"Winning is how I have fun." The tomboy princess laughed.
"You certainly are a handful, Daisy." Amy said.
"Yeah. Well anyway, I'm gonna go look elsewhere for whatever I can find. See ya later, girls."
"Okay, bye." Peach said, her and Amy waving her goodbye.
Peach and Amy continued to look around for a few more moments, really hoping to find something, not only for the events, but also for some casual down time when they weren't scheduled for any events. Amy soon found something, taking it and smiled as she looked over to where Peach was at.
"Hey, Peach." She said.
"Yes?"
"I found something that'll go with that dress." Amy said and grabbed a pair of leggings.
Peach saw the leggings that Amy had in her hands. She saw that the leggings were light pink in color and, much like the dress, had glitter on it as well, but only on certain parts of the leggings. Peach could also tell by the material that it was a soft, and almost transparent material.
"That's wonderful! I'm sure that'll go well with the dress."
"Not to mention it would look great on you too in general." Amy smiled. "Are you going to wear them for your figure skating routine?"
"I was thinking about it, but I think I should. I might look good in this."
"I'm sure you'll look amazing, Peach."
"Why, thank you, Amy."
Amy nodded and they went to look around the boutique even more. At one point, in Amy's periferal vision she saw that Tails was over by the ice skating section and was looking around at the ice skates they had, as well as other gear. She smiled and waved to him.
"Hi, Tails." She said from across the store.
Tails looked back to see that Amy was smiling at him and was waving to him too.
"Hi, Amy."
The pink hedgehog ran over to Tails, and hugged him.
"What are you doing here?" She asked.
"Oh nothing, I'm just looking around to see what the store has." Tails smiled. "You?"
"I'm here with Peach, looking around too." She says. "Peach already found something she's gonna get for her event."
"Are you getting anything too?"
"If I can find something." She responds. "If not, then it's no problem."
"That's understandable."
"Well I gotta go. I'll see you tomorrow, Tails." Amy said and went back over with Peach.
"Yeah... See ya." Tails said, waving back to her.
He sighed and turned back around to see the skates, looking at all the different ones that they had.
"Have you found a pair, Tails?"
Tails turned around and saw that Blaze was a few feet from him, one hand on her hip as she looked at him.
"Not yet, Blaze."
"Well, take your time. I'll be at the register when you find a pair you like." She said and turned to walk off.
"Hey, Blaze?"
She looks back at Tails after he calls for her.
"Yes, Tails?"
"Thanks for agreeing to help me learn how to ice skate." He smiled and looked up at her.
She smiled back and nodded.
"Of course. I'll see you soon."
Tails smiled as she walked off and went back to look at the skates.
"Hopefully you can be impressed with what I'm sure to learn... Amy."
He smiled and kept looking around, liking what he was seeing, but still looked around some more.
Over at the register, Amy and Peach were going to pay for Peach's new outfit that they had picked out.
"This was a lot of fun." Amy said.
"Agreed." Peach nodded. "We definitely should do this more often."
"Absolutely, and definitely before the Olympic games are over and we have to go back home."
As they came to the register, they saw Daisy again as she was waiting in line, a shopping bag in her hand.
"Hey, Daisy." Peach said.
Daisy turned to see Amy and Peach again and she smiled.
"Hey, guys." She said.
"Did you buy something, Daisy?" Amy asked.
"Nah." She said. "I'm here with Blaze. She needed to get something and asked if I could come with her. She asked me to watch her spot at the register."
"I see." Peach said.
"But, hey. If you guys need to, you can cut in front here. I'm sure Blaze won't mind if it's you two."
"Thanks, Daisy." Peach smiles.
Her and Amy cut in front of Daisy to get to the register and pay for the dress. Once the dress was bought, the clerk folds the clothes and puts them in a bag, and hands it to Peach.
"Thank you." Peach says, taking the bag.
The clerk nods.
"Have a good day, ma'am." She says.
Peach and Amy leave the boutique while Daisy goes back to her spot and waits for Blaze.
"It's good that we came here today." Amy said. "I had a lot of fun. And I just love walking around Christmas Village. I love seeing all the lights, decorations, and the snow."
"I agree." Peach said. "We should come here often."
When Peach and Amy stepped out of the boutique, they noticed something just outside next to the doors. They turn to look at what it was, or rather who it was, and saw that it was Luigi.
"Luigi? Is that you?" Peach asked, stepping over for a bit to confirm it really was Luigi.
The younger of the Mario Bros. looked at Peach and Amy, stepping out from the edge of the doors and walked up to them.
"Princess Peach. Miss Amy." Luigi said.
"What are you doing here, Luigi?"
"And, sorry for asking, but why were you by the door like that?" Amy said.
Luigi looked back inside the boutique and looked at the girl at the register, seeing Daisy. He sighed and looked back at the two.
"I was just... Hanging around is all."
"Are you sure about that?"
"Yeah, I'm sure. I was just waiting here and I-"
Peach and Amy looked at each other and then Luigi looked back inside the boutique, and he let out a quick gasp and hid behind a bush. Peach and Amy were confused as to why he did that and that's when Daisy came out of the boutique. She looked at Peach and Amy as she walked out and waved to them.
"Hey, Peach. Hey, Amy."
They looked back at Daisy and smiled, waving too.
"Are you done, Daisy?" Peach asked.
"Yeah. I couldn't find anything to buy and Blaze came and is at the register now. So I'm headed back to the hotel to rest up for a bit."
"Okay." They both say and wave her good-bye.
Once Daisy was out of sight, Luigi came out from the bushes and kept his eyes on the direction that Daisy went. He sighed, closing his eyes for a minute.
"Luigi..."
the Italian plumber looked over at Peach and Amy. He brought his hands behind his back, blushing that he acted so suddenly in front of them.
"Luigi, are you alright? You just jumped to the bush before we could understand what was happening."
"I-it's fine. I'm sorry if I made you concerned, Princess..."
He looked over to where Daisy was going, and Amy was quick to notice it.
"Luigi... Do you by chance have feelings for Daisy?" Amy asked.
Luigi looked up at the two and nodded, blushing but not bothering to hide it.
"Yeah, I do." The plumber admitted. "But it's not like I could ever tell her that..."
Peach and Amy look at each other than at Luigi again.
"Why not?"
"Because Daisy is energetic and is all about competition and wants to do all she can to try and win first. I'm just someone that would hold her back from what she wants..." Luigi explained.
Peach could sense that Luigi was feeling really down about this, and Amy could feel it too, knowing all too well what Luigi must be feeling at the moment. Peach walked up to the Italian plumber and put her hand on his shoulder.
"Luigi." She said.
The plumber looked up at the princess, seeing that she had her hand on his shoulder and he blushed a bit.
"Y-yes, princess..?"
"You can't think that way about Daisy." She said. "I mean sure, she's got her focus on winning all the time, but she isn't insensitive to others. Not to her friends, and especially not to you."
"You think so?"
"I know so. Daisy would never let her competitive attitude get in the way from seeing that others don't feel the same way she does about everything."
Luigi lets out a small smile and chippers up.
"Thanks, princess. That makes me feel so much better, especially coming from you."
Peach smiles and lets go of his shoulder.
"Anytime, Luigi."
He smiled and Peach got an idea. She looked at Amy and smiled before looking at Luigi.
"Say, Luigi, why don't you come with us to get something to eat?"
Both Luigi and Amy looked at Peach, rather confused but smiled, Luigi did at least.
"Really?" He asked.
She nodded.
"Me and Amy were about to head to the restaurant to get something to eat, would you like to join us?"
"I don't know... I mean I don't want to be a third wheel..."
"Don't worry, we'll go as friends. It's not like we're all going on a date." She laughed then looked at Amy. "What do you say, Amy?"
"Um, well sure." She smiled after thinking about it for a quick minute. "It'll be fun to have Luigi join us."
"Thanks, girls." He smiled.
They nodded and headed off together to the restaurant.
A few hours had passed, and the girls had gone their separate ways after having plenty of fun together. Amy was making her way back to her hotel to rest up, while Peach was with both Mario and Luigi at their hotel rooms, resting for a bit, though it was still early evening, the sun had set, but it was still pretty early. They were in the rooms, Mario was looking out the window while Luigi and Peach were sitting, having some tea and they were talking.
"It was nice to bump into you again, Princess." Luigi smiled as he took a sip of his tea. "Were you out shopping."
"I sure was. I was shopping for some accessories and things to wear for the events in a few days." She said.
Mario looked back at Peach and his brother and smiled.
"I hope you've been practicing too."
"I have Mario." She said and took another sip of her tea.
"If you don't mind us asking, what events are you scheduled for?"
"Quite a few really, the biggest one for me is a solo figure skating routine." She said. "And I was out shopping with Amy to get something nice to wear for the event. What about you two?"
"I have a hockey event, a skeleton event and an alpine skiing event." Mario said.
"Snowboard cross, speed skating and a bobsleigh event." Luigi said.
"Well, I hope for the best of luck to both of you."
They nodded then someone had knocked the door, making all three of them look over at the door.
"I'll get it." Peach offered and put her tea down on the coffee table.
"Thanks, Princess." Mario said.
She nodded and Luigi took another sip of his tea when Peach opened the door.
"Oh, hi Daisy."
Upon hearing that name, Luigi spat his tea out right back in his cup, not having anywhere else to spit it out. Mario jumped back and went over and patted Luigi's back.
"Luigi, are you okay?"
"Y-yeah." Luigi coughed. "Sorry, I don't cough cough know what came over me."
"Does anyone know the Heimlich?" Daisy said jokingly as she walked in with Peach.
Luigi coughed a little bit and looked up at Daisy.
"I-I'm fine, Daisy." He sighed.
Daisy chuckled a bit as did Peach and Mario.
"I know, Luigi. I was just joking."
"I know." He laughed a bit too.
"So, what brings you here, Daisy?" Mario asked.
"I was just in my room, bored out of my mind honestly, then I had the idea of going out to go snowboarding. You guys wanna come?"
The three looked at each other and Peach smiled, really liking that idea as was Mario.
"Sure, we'd love to go snowboarding with you Daisy." Peach said.
"Yeah, sounds like a lot of fun, and good practice too, well for those of us that have snowboard cross, right Luigi?" He looked over at his brother.
He looked up and nodded.
"Y-Yeah." he chuckled a bit.
"You have a Snowboard Cross event too?" Daisy asked.
"You have the same event?" Peach asked.
"Yeah, which is why I wanna go and practice, and kill the boredom. But I don't wanna do it alone, which is why I came to ask you guys."
"Well, count me in." Peach smiled.
"Me too." Mario said.
"Awesome! What about you Luigi? Wanna come?" Daisy asked.
Luigi looked up at her and blushed. He really wanted to go, but he wasn't sure how everything would play out, since both Amy and Peach know about his feelings for Daisy. By the end though, he nodded.
"Y-yeah, I'll go." He said, sounding a bit hesitant.
"You sure? You don't sound ready or too excited."
"No. I-I mean, yeah, I'm sure."
"If you're not comfortable, you know you can stay if-"
"No, I'll go." He said and chuckled nervously while blushing. "Really I need the practice and it sounds really fun."
"Alright then. Let's go guys!" She said and left. "I'll be at the lobby with my snowboard. I'll see you guys when y'all are ready." She said and left.
Peach did too, but looked back at Luigi and smiled.
"It'll be alright, Luigi. You'll be with friends."
Mario looked at her then back to Luigi.
"Did I miss something?"
Luigi looked at Mario and opened his mouth to say something, but Peach beat him to it.
"I'll explain later, Mario."
He looked at her, and Luigi nodded.
"I'm sorry, Mario. I just don't wanna talk about it now."
He nodded and put his hand on Luigi's shoulder.
"Alright, Luigi. I respect that."
Luigi smiled and Peach left the room to get her stuff she would be taking, while the Mario brothers got their stuff ready too
Meanwhile, with Amy, she was walking down the woods, wanting a change of scenery from Christmas Village. She loved the village and how beautiful the lights and decorations and everything that was there put everything together, but she had quite the soft spot for big open areas like these.
"It's so wonderful to see how everything looks." She smiled.
The woods weren't dense with trees and bushes, but rather very light in greenery that surrounded the area, that was covered in snow. As she kept walking, she heard the sounds of ice being scrapped from nearby. She went to investigate what it was, following the sounds as it came from the west side of where she was walking.
"Wonder what that could be. Is there someone already here?" She asked herself. "I hope it isn't something dangerous... It should be pretty safe here..."
She soon walked a good distance, standing in front of a bush and saw that she had come across a frozen lake. She was amazed that she was able to see this, she hasn't seen it before, but she was glad she decided to take a small detour on her way back. As she looked around, she heard the sound of ice being scrapped again, and then she saw that in the middle of the lake, Tails was out and was ice skating around. Amy watched as Tails was skating around, not like a professional, but he looked like he was having a lot of fun.
She watched as he turned around and started to skate backwards, which amazed her, to say the least. Tails moved his leg and used it as a weight starter and jumped up, spinning around, and performing a spiral, and stuck the landing. Amy continued to watch as he lifted his leg behind him and held his balance as he skated for a good seven seconds without falling, but he looked to be a bit unbalanced. Amy smiled as she kept watching to see what Tails would do.
"He's good, isn't he?"
Amy jumped at the sound of the voice behind her. She turned around and saw that Blaze was standing behind her, with her ice skates hanging around her neck by the laces and with her sports bottle on her right hand. She chuckled a bit and smiled.
"Oh, it's just you, Blaze."
Blaze chuckled at that and Amy looked back at Tails, watching as he kept ice skating, and smiled.
"And yeah." Amy said. "He must be a trained pro if he skates this well."
"Actually, he's just started to improve." Blaze said.
Amy looked back at the purple feline, confused as to what she heard the cat say.
"Improve?"
Blaze nodded with a smile to Amy's question.
"He wanted to learn how to skate a little bit more than what he was able to do before. So I've been tutoring him on how to improve on his skills to get even better."
"Is that so?"
"Yes." She said. "He definitely had the asperation to do so, and I just gave him what he wanted and I've been practicing with him non-stop since we got here."
Amy looked back at Tails to see him skate again, more than impressed with what he could do as was skating around and turning while he moved forward, and it didn't look like he was losing balance, whatsoever.
"We negotiated an agreement to practice before we landed here on Vancouver. He said that he wanted to improve his skating to not only train for the events, but he also wanted to impress someone in hopes of grabbing their attention."
"Well, he sure is doing a great job thus far." Amy smiled.
Blaze let out a small smile as she crossed her arms.
"Impressed?"
"Very." Amy smiled and looked back at the cat. "You did a terrific job training him, Blaze."
Blaze smiled and Amy watched as Tails performed another spiral, but he lost his footing the minute he landed, and fell down on his behind. Amy gasped and went to go out to the lake, but Blaze grabbed her wrist to stop her.
"It's okay, Amy. He's fallen numorous times during practice, and he's always assured me that he was okay."
Amy looked back at her, then glanced back at Tails, then looked at her again.
"I was concerned too, who wouldn't be? But I've seen just how focused he is and how happy it makes him, and no amount of convincing will stop him from trying to get better."
Amy looked back at Tails just to see him up and skating as if him falling and probably hurting himself never happened.
"I told him I was going back and asked him if he wanted to come back too." Blaze told her. "If you want, you can go skate with him. It would make him happy to have some company."
"But... I don't have my skates with me."
Blaze grabbed the ice skates around her neck and handed them over to Amy. She looked at the skates then to Blaze.
"You can borrow mine."
Amy smiled and took the skates from the cat. Soon after, Amy ran up and hugged her feline friend.
"Thanks, Blaze."
Blaze hugged back and motioned for Amy to go out to the lake.
"Have fun, Amy." Blaze said, taking a drink from her bottle and walked off.
Amy looked back out to see Tails, then she stepped out from behind the bush and put on Blaze's ice skates and stepped onto the frozen water.
Tails was balancing himself and moved around in circles, going fast with each passing second. Tails could be heard laughing the faster he went, and after a few seconds of spinning just as fast as Sonic when he revs up his spin dash, he moved his skates so that it could penetrate the ice just a bit and so that he could come to a stop. Tails spread his arms out and looked up at the evening sky, panting from the adrenaline he had from that spin. Tails closed his eyes, and quickly opened them when he heard the sounds of clapping. He looked down to see that Amy was clapping as she skated up to him.
"That was great, Tails!"
Tails turned his head, trying to hide the blush that was creeping up on his cheeks.
"Thanks, Amy." He said, rubbing the back of his neck. "I've been practicing."
"I saw." She said. "And you looked amazing."
Tails looked at her and smiled.
"Thanks."
Amy nodded and looked around at the frozen lake. She adored the scenery of the ice covered water as well as the snow that filled the grass around the shore as well as some of the trees from the wooded areas. She looked back over to Tails to see him looking around the frozen lake, his back turned to Amy and he looked to be studying the area.
In actuality, Tails had his back turned to the pink hedgehog so that she wouldn't see his flustered cheeks. He was silently grateful that Amy was with him, and he hoped that she wasn't planning on leaving soon.
"Should I ask her to skate with me?" Tails thought to himself. "If I did, then it would just be a regular skating session for her. There's no way that she would think of it as anything more. And Besides..." Tails took a glance back at Amy to see her with her hands behind her back. He smiled and took a minute to admire Amy's beauty, and the fact that she looked amazing and cute looking around with her hands behind her back.
Amy looked up at Tails after a few minutes and couldn't help but notice just how kind of nervous Tails looked right now. She glanced around the frozen lake one more time, and her ears perked up.
"Hey, Tails?"
Tails turned his head to look at Amy, and saw her bright and cheerful face, one of the things he's grown to love about her.
"Y-Yeah, Amy?"
"Let's skate around for a bit." Amy said.
"Sure... I'll just head over there so as not to get in your way, okay Amy?"
Tails turned and was about to head over to the other side of the lake, but then he felt a hand on his wrist before he could go anywhere. He looked down at his wrist to see a gloved hand on it and looked up at Amy.
"What is it?"
"I want to skate with you, Tails." Amy said.
Tails blushed, his cheeks burning as he felt the blood rush up to his cheeks. He felt his heart skip a beat when Amy asked to skate with him.
"Wait. Y-You mean together?"
Amy nodded and let go of his hand.
"It'd be fun, wouldn't you think?"
"I-I guess..."
Amy grabbed his hand with both of hers, and Tails could feel as his temperature went up little by little.
"Tails, I've seen how good you are. It seems like you've practiced a lot. I want to see just how good you really are with my own eyes. I really want to skate with you."
Tails was speechless. On one hand, he was really nervous to skate with her. He had only practiced for short time, and he doesn't feel like he's ready to just go about and skate like he knows what he's doing. If anything, he considers all of what he's able to do now just... Average.
But on the other hand, Amy wants to skate with him. This is more of a dream come true for the young fox. To have the opportunity to not only skate with the girl he's had a crush on for a long time, but to actually do something fun with her, alone? He would gladly give up half of his equipment in his workshop to be with Amy... Okay not really, but that's not really the point.
Tails looked at Amy and was about to open his mouth to say something, but quickly shut it, feeling as his shyness just overcame his whole being. He felt as a pair of delicate arms wrapped around his torso and he looked down at Amy and saw her vivid jade green eyes stare at his crystal blue ones.
"Please, Tails..."
Tails saw the adorable look on Amy's face and knew what to say right then and there.
"O-Okay... Amy..."
Amy gave a small smile and grabbed Tails' hand and started to lead him out towards the lake. Tails followed her, skating behind her as she turned to look at him. As she looked up at him, Tails started to smile and then he nodded to Amy. She nodded back and they both started to skate as they held hands together. Tails lead Amy out to the middle of the frozen lake, where they started off their skate session waving their arms back and fourth while they had them linked together. They did this for a few minutes before Amy brought herself closer to Tails, wrapping his arms around her small waist.
Tails was confused and looked down at Amy who smiled and nodded up to him. Tails knew what she wanted, and after a few minutes he nodded to Amy, and he gently threw her up a few feet off the ground. Amy span around as she was thrown up from the assisted spiral, and Tails watched as she gracefully twirled in the air for what felt like a very long time, but was only a few moments.
When Amy landed down, Tails caught her, placing his hands on her hips again. Amy smiled as Tails was being the good hearted gentleman he usually was. She stood back up and moved out, both their hands held together so that they can still skate in unison. Tails started to let loose and watched as Amy lifted her foot behind her and started to balance herself as she skated. Tails smiled at how much of a natural Amy seemed to be, and he couldn't help but grab her waist again and lift her up.
Amy looked down at Tails, utterly caught off-guard from him lifting her up. She was amazed that Tails had the arm strength to lift her up, then again, she was a light-weight petite hedgehog. Amy looked back up and closed her eyes, as she felt the sensation of flying just from having been up in the air thanks to the kitsune that held her up. This went on for, again, a few moments before Tails placed her back down onto the ice gently. Amy smiled as she looked up at Tails, who smiled back. Amy decided to let go of Tails' hand and branched off to one side of the frozen lake, while Tails remained where he was as he kept skating forward on his side of the lake.
Tails looked over at Amy to see that she was in the middle of gracefully spinning around in the ice. She wasn't going fast throughout the spin, she just spun like a delicate ballerina as she had her eyes closed and was enjoying herself. Tails felt a bit of inspiration in him and decided to do the same as Amy and started to spin around on the ice. Only with this, Tails started to go faster and faster the more he spun around. Amy was in the middle of just skating around when she looked up at Tails and watched him spin. She smiled and started to applaud the fox with how much he was spinning.
"Alright, Tails!" Amy cheered. "That's amazing!"
Tails smiled from Amy's encouraging words and he started to spin a little faster and was ready to end it soon and strike a pose. As Tails was ready to stop, he lost his footing and tripped over onto the ice, landing down onto his belly. Amy let out a gasp when she saw this and immediately skated over to Tails to check if he was alright.
"Tails!" She said, her concern evident in her voice. "Are you alright?"
"Yeah... I'm fine." Tails said as Amy helped him up.
"That was some fall you just had."
"It's fine, really. I've had nastier spills before."
"You weren't hurt too bad, were you."
"No. I think the worst that'll happen is that I'll get a slight bruise."
"That's a relief to hear."
"Amy, I'm not a little kid anymore." He said with a chuckle. "I'm more than capable of handling pain better than I was when I was younger."
"Yeah, I guess I forget that you've grown and can make your own choices."
"Well, I still have you, and Sonic babying me every now and then. Even Knuckles steps in to join you guys on occasions."
They both laughed from that, and Amy even lightly pushed him a little.
"Real jokester, you are." Amy said.
They both stared into each other's eyes, and they both felt a strong bond in each other they hadn't felt anywhere else. Amy brought her hand up and planted it on Tails' cheek, making the fox blush, feeling as his cheeks started to heat up, which he sorely wished didn't happen. Amy didn't seem to notice the change in temperature on Tails as she kept looking at him, soon bringing her head closer to his. Tails saw what Amy was doing and he started blushing more as he realized that Amy was leaning her head towards his. He saw as she closed her eyes, and he could feel his heart beat faster with each passing minute.
"Is she really planning on doing this?" He thought to himself "It just seems so sudden for her to just want to do something like this right now. I-I don't know what to do."
Amy was getting closer, her breath could be seen due to the cold weather, but Tails felt like he was in the middle of a hot-spring with how warm he felt. He then decided to go with what he felt his instincts told him to do.
"Here goes nothing then..."
Tails closed his eyes as well and started to lean towards Amy, as she had done. Tails felt his heart beat faster, feeling it about to burst out of his chest. Amy was lost in the moment and hadn't really showed signs of stopping herself as their lips made brief contact with each others. Tails could sense that Amy had pulled away the moment their lips had touched. He opened his eyes to see that Amy had her hand up to her mouth and she was blushing immensely. He looked at her, greatly worried for her, and thinking he did something.
"Amy..?"
"I'm sorry, Tails..." She said, shaking her head from side to side. "I... I don't know what came over me. I just... Felt as if..."
Tails watched as Amy started to tear up a bit and she looked up at him.
"I'm sorry, Tails. I have to go now..."
Amy turned around and skated back to the shore before she or even he could even register what was happening.
"What!? Amy, wait!"
Amy had already taken off her skates and had already picked them up. She looked over at Tails. She felt as the big pang of guilt hit her. She looked up to see that Tails was skating towards her, a very concerned and disheartened look decorated his face. Amy put her head down and looked at him.
"Tails, I'm sorry... I shouldn't have done that..."
"Amy..."
"It's not you. I... I just can't do it... I shouldn't have done that... I'm sorry..."
With that, Amy ran out from there, leaving Tails standing on the ice as he had watched Amy run off. He had gotten off the ice and took off his skates. He got down to his knees and started to tear up, and soon enough, put his head down.
"That... That was my only chance to be with her..." He said, his voice quivering.
Mario and Luigi, as well as Peach and Daisy were on the outskirts of the village and they were out with their snowboards and ski equipment. Daisy was excited as she was pumped and excited to be out of her hotel room and looked down the small mountain they were on and saw the lights of the village from a distance.
"This is so awesome!" She smiled.
Mario and Peach chuckled, and Luigi kept to himself for the most part.
"Glad you're enjoying yourself, Daisy." Peach said.
"I'm just glad to be out doing something. It was pretty boring being in the room with nothing to do."
"You don't have any videogames or books to read?" Peach giggled.
"You know they have plenty of sports magazines at the shops. You could've asked me or Peach or Luigi to get you something." Mario said.
"Ha. And then what? Read about people having a good time with sports? No thanks!" She said. "And I don't play games. That's for babies with nothing to do. And I ain't no baby!"
They laughed and took a look down at the bottom. Peach taking notice with how much was there as far as distance.
"It doesn't look like much, but it did take us a while to get up here." She said.
"But it should be fun heading back down." Mario said.
"Y-yeah, and hopefully none of us get hurt." Luigi said.
Daisy laughed and looked back at him.
"Oh, Luigi. You're such a softie."
He chuckled but looked back and quieted down. Daisy didn't seem to notice, neither did Mario or Peach. They all started to put on some off-road helmets as well as some goggles. Mario got in position with his snowboard as did Daisy and Luigi, and Peach went over in her skis
"Alright, everyone ready?" She asked.
The Mario brothers and the Sarasaland princess nodded and Peach got her sticks ready and looked down the mountain.
"On your marks. Get set..."
"GO!" Daisy said and she was the first to start snowboarding down.
Peach was caught off-guard for a second but she smirked and went down, followed by Mario then Luigi.
All four of them went down the mountain, particles of snow being left behind in a small trail. They laughed and cheered as they went down the mountain, with Daisy being the loudest and the one to show that she was really having a great time. Luigi kept his eyes on Daisy, but looked around and tried to follow her so that he wouldn't fall or have a crucial accident.
He looked over at Mario and Peach, unaware that Daisy was going over to a small but noticeable hill which she immediately jumped off of and did a 720 degree spin.
"YEEEEE-HAAAWWW!"
"Luigi, look out!" Mario called to his brother.
"Huh?"
Luigi looked ahead of himself, seeing the hill Daisy jumped off of, and he put on a somewhat serious face under his helmet and jumped off the hill, leaning back into a backflip in the air, before landing down. He gasped and looked down at himself, not believing what he did, but he looked back as he heard Mario and Peach applaud him.
"Alright, that was awesome, Luigi!" He heard Peach say.
"You're a natural!"
He looked ahead as he heard Daisy who gave him a thumbs up.
"You might win with those skills, but you got keep your head in the game!" She said.
She looked ahead and went faster, and Luigi was moving around, meeting with Mario and Peach as they were taking things rather slow.
"Good job, bro. Didn't know you were that skilled with snowboarding." Mario said.
"I guess I'm just full of surprises." Luigi chuckled.
Later, all four had made it down the mountain, Daisy being the first as she was off her snowboard and was cheering and fist pumping the air. She looked up to see that Mario and Luigi had come down together and they both skidded to a stop in front of her.
"Heh, kinda knew you two would come down together like that." She chuckled. "Brotherly bond?"
"Something like that." Mario chuckled.
They looked back and saw as Peach came by too, she had a bit of snow on her, as she tripped a few times down the summit, but it was a lot. She chuckled as she came down and skidded to a stop as well.
"Hey, guys." She said. "Glad we all made it in one piece."
Daisy chuckled upon seeing the bits of snow on Peach.
"You alright there, Peach? You look like you had a few accidents." She laughed.
"I had a few spills on the way down, but I'm not hurt. Besides, a little snow never hurt anyone."
She took off her goggles and helmet and shook her head to let her hair flow a bit. Daisy and the Mario brothers took their goggles and helmets off too.
"Hope you guys had fun. I certainly did." Daisy said.
"Yeah, I had a good time." Peach said.
"Me too. That was awesome." Mario said.
"What about you, Luigi? You had fun too, right?"
Luigi nodded and smiled, looking back up the mountain.
"Yeah. I had more fun than I thought I would." He smiled.
Daisy smiled and walked up and patted Luigi's back. Mario smiled but Peach had an idea and whispered in Mario's ear. He looked at her and she smiled and winked at the older Italian brother. He nodded and looked at them.
"Hey, if it's alright, me and Mario are going back to the village to get some extra supplies, if that's alright with you."
"Huh? Oh, yeah. That's fine with me."
"Great, then we'll be back soon. But if not, we'll be at our hotel. But you two can stay for a while if you want." Said Mario.
"Heh, sounds like a plan." Daisy smiled.
Luigi was a bit worried and watched as both Peach and Mario walked off. Peach looked back at Luigi and winked at him. Luigi saw this and he gasped, knowing what Peach was planning, and Mario to an extent. Fortunately, Daisy had her back turned when Peach winked at him. He looked at Daisy who looked up the mountain and smiled.
"Come on, Luigi. Let's make our way up there and ride again." She said and started walking up.
Luigi stood where he was and looked up at Daisy and sighed.
"Hey Daisy?"
"Yeah?" She stopped and looked back at him.
He looked up at her and shook his head.
"N-nothing, forget I said anything."
"Luigi, are you okay? You look a little pale."
"Y-yeah I'm fine" He assured her, chuckling nervously.
"You sure? Because if it's the cold, then you can go back. I'll even take you if you want."
"No, that won't be necessary. It's not that cold either."
"Okay then..." She looked up again and smiled. "Well then come on, I'm sure another trip down the mountain is what we need."
She started walking again, but Luigi couldn't move, being too shy and nervous that he was alone with Daisy now. He looked at her and thoughts of how he would just hold her back from legitimately practicing ran through his head and how she wouldn't really like to be with him anyway.
Daisy had a determined smirk on her face as she was going up but then looked back to see Luigi still standing where he was, which confused and worried her at the same time.
"Luigi, you okay?"
"Why are you with her? You'll just be holding her back. Besides she takes this a whole lot more seriously than you do. Do you really think that she'll purposefully hold herself back just so you could keep up with her?"
"Luigi?" She said and waved her hand in Luigi's face.
He was caught off-guard and blinked when he saw her hand waving in his face.
"H-huh?"
"You okay?" She repeated. "You're acting funny. You sure everything's okay?"
He looked down and the same negative and self-deprecating thoughts came back, and that was all he could think about. He brought his head down and shook his head and started to tear a bit too, shocking Daisy.
"Are you okay? Why are you crying all of a sudden?"
"D-Daisy, I'm... I'm sorry... I can't do this..."
"Luigi, what are you talking about?"
She hooked her finger under his chin and made her look up at her, but he shut his eyes and turned away almost immediately. He sniffled and wiped his tears away and turned to run from her.
"Luigi, wait!"
That was all Daisy could say as Luigi ran from her, not looking back to her. He wiped his tears, wanting to go back to his room and hide himself, not wanting to see Daisy, or rather, he didn't want Daisy to see him.
"I can't do this! I'm such an idiot, I mess everything up for myself!"
He stopped right where the village entrance was at and panted, making his way back to his hotel and to his room. Daisy meanwhile had gone back to the village, but was lost, not knowing where he may have gone and sighed.
"Luigi... what happened..? I hope everything's alright..."
