Authors Note: Ummm alright I gotta admit that chapter 14 is a terrible chapter, and I should probably delete it (Nah, I'm too lazy). I didn't have the greatest day while writing the chapter. I decided to make people mad by making Keefe like a human! My apologies. I know the "real Keefe" would never like a human.

I haven't been writing lately because of finals and other difficult stuff. Hopefully, I'll be able to start writing more actively again.

Notice: My writing's getting a little sloppier so you might notice a bunch of mixed-up sentences or words. At this point, I just want to get a chapter done so it's not taking me a month to post one.

I've got some suggestions for my story and they're all really great. I will use some of them for future chapters!

Sophie's POV

Sophie fell back, hitting her head hard against a dusty chair. Moonlark. The word rang in her ear. It glued itself into her brain. She didn't understand what was happening, but it was like the word itself was conjuring up memories. Memories that weren't hers. Or were they?

Flashes of the Neverseen entered her brain. It was them who tried to kill her friends. Who were her friends? How did she even know they were her friends? Whoever they were, she needed them. She needed them more than she needed the Neverseen.

Another memory approached. It was the group of Seekers. The memory gave her only shreds of what looked like them working with her.

Sophie couldn't tell whether this stunning news was fake or real. Her brain had been lying to her. She was at a Neverseen hideout! That's when it hit her. Gethen had brainwashed her and fed her brain false memories.

Keefe entered into her thoughts and she immediately remembered what she had done to him. She remembered the pleading in his eyes as if it were a bruise that would never heal. She wanted to curl up in a corner and cry. But she had a better plan to do. She closed her eyes and her brain reached out to Keefe's conscience.

Keefe . . .? She waited a moment before she repeated his name again, Keefe? Keefe! Keefe, where are you?

SOPHIE! His voice finally filled her mind, IT'S YOU! Wait you're Sophie, right? Like the real Sophie? Not the evil Sophie –?

Sophie had inflicted on him. She was evil. But not anymore. No, it's me, Keefe. The real me. And I'm— I'm really sorry! I'm so sorry, Keefe! I should have tried harder—

Sophie, stop blaming yourself. This is not your fault. If anything, it would be Alden's or Fitz's. He finished his last sentence in a teasing way. It wasn't a joke though. Nothing was. That's when Sophie recalled breaking up with Fitz for doing nothing. She felt bad for Fitz. He must've been confused and hurt. She should've let him explain more instead of turning around and dashing out his door.

Alright then, she responded. We need to come up with a plan to help me escape.

Right. I have part of an idea. He said. I think you should stay undercover as evil Sophie to make my mom still think you're on her side. And then we'll come and get the Neverseen for you.

His plan seemed simple. Maybe even a little too simple. Then again, it did seem like a stable one.

Okay, but I don't know how long I can hold this off. Sophie started to worry. One wrong move and Gisela would know she was no longer under her command. The worry turned into panic. Please Hurry before Gisela knows it's me.

She gave Keefe her location, which lied somewhere in the outskirts of Houston Texas.

Alright, Ro just picked me up from being stranded in the Forbidden Cities . . .

Ugh! How could Sophie have forgotten? She took away his leaping crystals and imparter. He couldn't go anywhere nor call for help. She would have to tell someone to go get him.

Oh sorry, my bad.

No, not anymore. Fitzy gave me a little visit the other day, Keefe's thoughts sighed, trying to get information out of me about where you might be. Once he found out I didn't have anything good he left me stranded at this hotel in New York City.

Anger bubbled in Sophie's chest. She was actually going to apologize to him whenever she got out of this mess. Fitz went way overboard. Leaving his best friend behind for no reason? Or at least she thought there was no reason.

And if you're wondering, Ro found me just a while ago, so you won't need to get help—

Before he finished, she saw a pair of glimmering green eyes in one of his recent memories.

Who is that? she asked. She shouldn't be asking questions about something as unimportant as this while she was trying to escape the Neverseen, but the curiosity begged her to be let out.

The memory was immediately pushed away, and she could tell Keefe was bothered.

No one, he responded. And after that, the subject quickly dropped.

I think you should inform Mr. Forkle about me first and he'll know what to do, Sophie said trying to wash away the awkwardness.

I'll hail him now, Keefe said. Hunkyhair out!

Sophie couldn't see him, but she could tell he was winking.

Once she broke the connection, she took a deep breath. She would stay in the room as long as possible until help would come.
