"Huh?" Kenji silently exclaimed at the teen's unexpected outburst.
It was surprising, albeit somewhat expected, that Naruto knew about the other boy's appearance. But this sudden demand to look for the boy all but screamed that the two had more in common than was initially presumed. He seemed a little agitated however, so he'd have to tread lightly from here on out.
Kenji spoke lightly as he asked the next question, "Do you know this boy?", and he showed Naruto the boy's zoomed in face in the iPad's screen.
Naruto took a deep breath in, before whispering out his answer.
"H-His name is Sasuke Uchiha. He's supposed to be my rival; my comrade. He left our village looking for some empty power, and in the process he left us all behind. I need to take him back. If not for his sake then for Sakura's at least!" Naruto voice climbed as he spoke, to the point where he half shouted the last part of his story.
Well at least I finally know the other guy's name, Kenji thought sarcastically. He was at a loss now. He still had no idea where this kid had come from, why he was here now, or why he was so obsessed with this so-called Sasuke. And as much as it broke his heart to hear Naruto's pleading voice begging him for a chance at finding his lost friend, there was no way he could ever let some 12 year-old boy go out into the streets by himself to fight an entire criminal organization. The cherry on top had to be the migraine pulsating in his skull from all the stress.
Even without adding Naruto's dilemmas to the equation, he still had dozens of people breathing down his neck who wanted answers as to who this kid was and how much of a threat he could pose.
"I need to find Sasuke! You need to let me go!," Naruto all but shouted at Kenji in his frenzy.
"You can't go–"
"I need to go!"
"I don't think you understand kid," Kenji retorted sternly while standing up from his seat, the metal chair screeching loudly against the hard floor, "I don't know where you're from or what you can do. All I know is that you're a boy no older than 12, who less than 2 days ago appeared seemingly out of thin air in an alleyway forsaken by god himself, so bruised up and beaten that he had to spend a whole day in the NICU. And despite that, you still want to go look for your friend. I appreciate the sentiment, really, but there is no way I'd ever let a quirkless boy such as yourself go do the work pro heroes themselves have difficulty accomplishing. Now, you're going to stay here while I go talk to my colleagues about what the hell we're going to do with you.
Before Naruto could even think about coming up with his next words, Kenji was out of the room and into the adjacent one with his co-workers.
The dog-man flopped onto one of the empty chairs in the room and laid his head on his paws in the attempt to clear his head from all the stress.
"Any suggestions?" Kenji asked annoyingly, clearly pissed from dispute he'd literally just walked out of.
"It's not like we can just keep him here forever," A short, red-head with glasses who was sitting at the back of the room stated as-a-matter-of-factly.
"Seeing as he's most likely the result of an interdimensional type quirk, we could try to contact people with similar quirks to see if we can send him back somehow?" The blonde girl from earlier suggested.
"We don't even know if that theory holds up. Plus, we wouldn't know what to do with him in the meantime. For now we need to find a place for him to stay," someone in the back of the room piped in.
Kenji thought for a moment before an idea occurred to him, "How about that nice lady that found him? We could ask her if she'd be interested in taking him in for a while. I don't think any of us would be quite qualified to take care of him, and if I recall correctly she has a son herself around Naruto's age."
"That's not a bad idea," The blonde girl pondered, "But first we would have to make sure that neither the boy nor the lady can pose a danger to each other. If the lady agrees, we would also provide her with money to cover Naruto's expenses. I suggest we further interview Naruto, and try to get in contact with the lady to see if she's up for it. In the meantime, let's see if we can get in contact with anyone who has a quirk that'll clear this situation up."
"I like that plan," Kenji said, "Can someone pull up her ID and information?"
"Already on it boss", a tall man with glasses and extra long fingers said from behind one of the monitors.
Kenji peeked at the information in the monitor. It sure was the woman alright. She had forest green hair with even greener eyes. Her smile in the picture was warm and inviting, and made you think of a warm meal on a cold winter day. Apparently, she had some sort of attraction quirk, if the computer was to be trusted, which was quite useful for common household tasks. Currently 37 years old and living in Musutafu, there was no doubt this woman was more than qualified for taking care of Naruto for the next couple of days.
Now all they had to do was contact Inko Midoriya.

Sasuke could feel his heartbeat in the temples of his head, and his arm burned with the pain he believed was from overusing his chidori. Opening his eyes was a whole other world of pain, and it took him an unholy amount of time just to get used to the dim lighting of the room he was in.
Once he finally managed to crack his eyes open, the first thing he noticed was the unfamiliarity of the room he was in. As far as his bloodshot eyes could tell, he was laying half-unconscious in the corner of a spacious wooden room. There seemed to be some sort of long table in the near the back of the room, with high chairs lining one side of the counter. On the other side seemed to be a shelf that ran from the bottom of the room all the way to the ceiling, and it was filled with all kinds of bottles and containers.
Sasuke's eyes became heavier with fatigue by the second, but just before he succumbed to sleep once again, he caught a glimpse of an odd purple shadow and a blue haired man at the corner of his vision. Or maybe he'd imagined it; he was too tired to care anyways.
"Sweet dreams little boy," was the last thing he heard before passing out once again.
Author's Note!
I'm back!!!!!
So over winter break this fanfic came to mind, and upon seeing all of the new reviews this thing had gotten, my heart literally melted and I couldn't help myself. I can't say when the next update will be, and I haven't watched Naruto in a long while so I'm not very confident in getting names and parts of the story 100% correct, but I'll try. I just got COVID and I'm gonna have to spend the next few days in quarantine, so maybe I'll try to get another episode out? Anyways, thank you for all of the support and consider this my Christmas present to you guys. Merry Christmas (and if you don't celebrate Christmas then happy day) and may you all have a Happy New Year.
