Chapter Forty-Four – Deserving of Wants
It was delicate work, and it took a little time. Elijah hadn't realised how tricky the tiny component would be to handle, not to mention his planned upgrades. He also wanted to take a closer look at Nines' bodywork and internal workings to see if he could make any tweaks there that would boost his defensive capabilities. Nines had been visibly reluctant when Gavin asked, but he'd agreed to the meeting. It went without saying that Gavin was going to be there. They waited for their next day off, neither of them noticing that their two week trial period had ended. They were too busy to think about things like that. Fowler didn't bring it up either. He'd assumed any complaints would have come to him already, so he listed the partnership as official.
Elijah had invited them to stay. They would arrive at the end of their shift and stay the next day, then return to work on Friday. That should give Elijah the time he needed to fully assess Nines' condition and work on any upgrades. He may not finish, but it would give him plenty of time to get started, and Nines could likely help with that. Kamski was lucky that, thanks to his relationship with Markus, he'd been able to gain access to the disused Cyberlife mainframe and download Nines' specs. He was even more of a marvel than he'd originally thought.
"What the hell did you have to agree to to get that?" Gavin asked during a call, knowing it was likely a high price. Elijah seemed largely unconcerned. It wasn't like he was short on money, and as the creator of androids he had plenty to trade in the form of expertise. Neither request would be a strain. If they wanted money Elijah would have plenty to pay. If they wanted something else he was more than likely the best person for the job, and he'd do it with great pleasure. He was always looking for new projects to sink his teeth into.
"Nothing I can't afford, I assure you. I'll see you tonight." Elijah replied before hanging up. That was one thing Gavin had realised about his brother over the past couple of days. He didn't waste time when there was work to be done.He looked at his blank screen a moment longer before returning it to his pocket. Nines was still interfacing with his terminal across from him. Gavin wasn't sure what he was doing, but he was likely checking over the reports he'd just finished.
"Hey, it's almost time to go. You ready?" Reed asked as he pushed his chair back. Blue eyes shifted from the screen momentarily.
"I will be by the time you clock out." Nines replied in his usual gentle tone. Reed got to his feet and grabbed his leather jacket. Connor and Hank had already left for the night, though the bullpen was still bustling with activity. It was only eight o'clock at night, and the late shift was just starting for a lot of the people there. Reed nodded to Collins as he grabbed his and Nines' cards to punch out. By the time he returned to his desk Nines was waiting patiently in his usual idling pose.
Once they returned to Gavin's house they packed for the next couple of days. They only needed two sets of day clothes and something for bed. Elijah's bathroom was fully stocked with everything else they'd need, though Gavin packed his own core toiletries and electric razor. He just preferred the taste of his own toothpaste. Before they left Gavin put two sachets of thirium food out for Lynx and crouched down by the large feline guard.
"Lynx, we'll be away tomorrow…Keep an eye on things for us." He soothed as he stroked the large android cat behind the ears. Lynx purred and butted Gavin's chest like a real cat, but he processed the order he'd been given. Once they were gone he would continue his usual patrol and then set himself into low power mode. He would also consume the thirium food and regulate the energy release over the next day or so. With that said Gavin followed Nines out to the car, where they tossed their overnight bags on the backseat.
Gavin drove, and it was far less tense than last time. He wouldn't exactly say he felt comfortable in the oversized mansion, but he at least felt comfortable enough with the owner of said mansion now. He'd even gotten somewhat used to the Chloes, though he'd really only spent time with one of them. They drove quietly, both thinking about what was going to happen over the next couple of days. Gavin wasn't looking forward to seeing Nines all opened up on a table, and Nines wasn't looking forward to being on said table. It is for the mission.
"Ah! You're here." Elijah greeted brightly, both of them surprised as he opened the door himself. "Chloe is in town at the moment, and she took her sisters with her for the trip." He explained as he noticed their surprised glances around the entrance way. Gavin hummed lightly at that. The last time he'd heard of a Chloe 'going to town' had been when he'd been abducted from the station. That probably wasn't fair. He doubted they kidnapped people on every trip.
"Shall we begin?" Nines asked as they headed further into the house. Elijah didn't want to press them right away. They'd only just finished work, and it was getting late in the evening. He'd planned for them to just relax for the night and start work the next day. Nines nodded his agreement, secretly relieved he would have a little longer. He still wasn't entirely sure what the mechanic wanted to do to him. The way the human looked at him was almost reverent at times.
"Please, come through…I'm not as good as Chloe, but I can at least make up a simple meal." Elijah invited as he headed into a huge kitchen. Nines had been in there briefly, but he hadn't really looked at it. It was a chef's dream. Spotless granite counters, plentiful white cupboards, wooden chopping boards, a huge oven and fridge-freezer. Gavin was giving him a look. It was almost a look of amusement. It was like he could see what Nines was thinking on his face. It's the best thing I've ever seen…
"I would…" He began, pausing as he realised it may be rude to suggest it as a guest. Elijah had already paused, eyebrow raised as he gave Nines his full attention. He'd barely stepped behind the huge island counter, where a row of stools stood along one side so that people could sit and eat. "If it is permissible, I would like to cook." The android continued as he eyed the rack of spices, wondering what he would find in the cupboards.
"Nines likes cooking." Gavin explained with a shrug as Elijah gave his partner a surprised look.
"By all means." The older human replied in amusement, waving an arm invitingly and removing himself from the cooking area. Nines wasted no time in shrugging out of his leather jacket, leaving it on one of the sleek black stools as he tugged his sleeves up. Elijah grabbed some wine glasses and a bottle of red wine from a small rolling cupboard before taking a seat beside Gavin. "If you'd like some thirium there's a bottle in the fridge." He added as he pushed an empty glass over to the android, who took it hesitantly. I suppose it would be odd for only the humans to be drinking…"I'm curious…I've always considered robotics to be my job and my hobby. Have you ever been interested in mechanics or the like?" Elijah asked curiously, taking a sip from his glass. Gavin was surprised at first, but he supposed it made sense. They didn't exactly know much about each other, and a shared interest would be a good starting point. It probably wasn't anywhere near advanced enough to get Elijah's interest, but he did have some experience.
"I guess…I fixed bikes for a while, and I picked up enough to be able to tinker around with car engines a little." He replied, allowing the conversation to move towards cars and bikes for a while. Elijah could ride, but preferred cars. He had a few vintage cars and sports cars in the garages below. He didn't go out so much these days, but he'd enjoyed driving back when he'd worked at Cyberlife. Gavin had preferred bikes once, but a car was more practical for work. It meant he could use his own plain car for investigations and such.
Nines occupied himself with cooking, finding large cuts of steak, large mushrooms, tomatoes, potatoes and a few other vegetables. He settled on mashing the potatoes, peeling and boiling them as he seasoned the steaks ready for frying. He readied some carrots and beans for boiling before cleaning and cutting the mushrooms and tomatoes for frying. He decided to cook the steaks rare. They were fillet cuts, so they'd be easy to cut and chew. The brothers were patient, happy to talk and drink while they waited.
"Wow, it looks delicious…Did you install a cooking program?" Elijah asked curiously as Nines placed the plates in front of them.
"I did, and many others. It was suggested that I should develop some hobbies to expand my social programming." Nines replied as he took his thirium and moved to sit beside Gavin. That gave the human pause. He'd installed those programs to blend in and make friends, but since he'd been on the outside he'd been plastered to Reed's side constantly. He'd met other officers in passing, but there was no way he'd made any friends outside the station. On the times Gavin had gone out Nines had either stayed in or been with Connor.
By the time they'd finished eating it was getting on for eleven, so they headed off for the night. Elijah headed down to his lab, preferring to work into the early hours of the morning, while Gavin and Nines headed to what had been dubbed their room. It hadn't even occurred to Gavin to ask about separate rooms, and Nines hadn't brought it up either. Once they were there they each took a shower before sitting on the large sofa.
"You know, when this is all over we should prioritise getting you your own place…and we could plan a night out with Tina, maybe meet some new people." Gavin suggested thoughtfully as he ran a hand through his damp locks. Nines' face looked suspiciously blank, and he was unable to hide the yellow of his LED. "Hey, you don't have to be nervous about it! You'll make lot of friends." The human encouraged gently, the android shaking his head in response. That wasn't what was bothering him. He was sitting straight as ever, hands together on his lap.
"I am…not concerned with making new friends." Nines admitted, though Gavin wasn't clear on whether he meant he wasn't worried about it or he didn't want to. "I…I want…" He trailed off, his LED flashing yellow again as he struggled to voice his thoughts. The problem was he knew his wishes were selfish, and Gavin had already made certain decisions. But humans are prone to changing their wishes…Perhaps I could…
"Hey, talk to me…" Reed encouraged gently as he sat up a little from his slouched position. They didn't have long before a potentially dangerous mission, and he didn't want the android feeling distracted. Nines glanced at him, his LED circling red once. He knew Gavin wouldn't like it. He didn't want to talk about it. He didn't want to be rejected again.
"I want to stay with you." He murmured vulnerably, his brow pinching as he heard Gavin sigh lightly. He looked up as the human moved, getting to his feet so that he could crouch beside Nines. He almost looked like a father about to explain to a child why he couldn't do something dangerous. It wasn't a look Nines particularly relished being sent his way. He wasn't naïve, and he wasn't a child. Ironically it seemed rather petulant to have such thoughts.
"You only feel that way because you've been around me so much, and I'm sorry…I should have put you out there more." Reed added with a guilty tone, watching Nines shake his head lightly. His blue eyes were firm as he looked down at his human. It was strange. Since deviancy those words had come to him more and more often. Gavin wasn't his work partner, or his owner, or his friend. He was his human. He was the first thing Nines had ever chosen for himself. Gavin swallowed, licking his suddenly dry lips. The look on Nines face was almost predatory, a look he could almost drown in. Fuck, he wanted to drown in it. In him.
"I don't want to be put out there. I am content with things as they are, at least…I am content with the friends I have." He corrected, very much not content with the way Gavin would sidestep his small advances. He knew the human shared his feelings. He'd felt it that night. He'd seen it in his eyes. Tasted it in his kisses. Let it sear into his skin with each touch. He still felt it each time Gavin allowed him into his personal space. It was in the way he'd let Nines in his room, his bed, stay quiet as he scooted closer, and lean into his embrace. It was painfully obvious.
"But you only have me, Connor and Anderson…Maybe some of those androids at Cyberlife too, but that's not enough." Gavin insisted, pausing as Nines' finger rested on his lips. The human jumped at the light touch, surprised. His lips felt dry again as Nines' digit remained pressed against his closed mouth. It was soft and gentle, filled with warmth.
"Before I arrived you would only associate with Tina Chen and Christopher Miller, and with Connor and Hank on work matters only. You are hypocritical." The android stated accusingly, unsure what he could do to get his point across. Gavin's lips spread into an almost defeated smirk. Nines had a point. He was hardly the authority on meaningful relationships, but that was the whole point. He was a bad example to follow. Nines needed better people in his life.
"Exactly! I don't want you to be like me. You deserve better." Gavin replied gently, Nines' finger remaining soft against his lips. If he pressed his lips a little firmer he'd be pressing a kiss against the pad, but he killed that idea before it formed. It was almost like Nines had read his mind though. The pressure on his lips increased, the pad of Nines' finger pressing down.
"I deserve what I want." Nines corrected, leaning closer as he noticed the shift in Gavin's vitals. His eyes had a slightly hazy look, making him more pliant and giving. "I'm not a child Gavin. I was activated with the processing capabilities and body of a thirty year old human male. That includes the capacity to make my own decisions…To act on my own desires…and what I desire…" The android paused, giving his human no time to react as he sprang into action. He hefted Gavin by the waist and turned their bodies, more or less slamming and pinning the human into the leather sofa with his own lithe body. "Is you." He concluded and a silken tone, blue eyes hot and piercing.
"Nines!" Gavin objected vulnerably, a little heat working its way into his cheeks. His faded brown T-shirt had rucked up a little to reveal his toned abs in their tousle, and his dark sweatpants rested tantalisingly low on his hips. His hair was still damp, without its usual fluff against the sofa cushion. His voice may have objected, but his body had almost melted back into the sofa, one hand just resting on Nines' shoulder in a weak attempt to hold him back. It was no good denying that he wanted him. Nines could feel the evidence in his boxers as he pressed his thigh between Gavin's legs. "When the fuck did you get so…" The human trailed off, unsure how he could possibly end that sentence. So hot? So sexy? So dominant? So demanding? So seductive? And when the phck did I get in so fucking deep?
"Since you have consistently spurned my affection." Nines replied, leaving off the part about how he was sick of it. Gavin could tell that much from the fact he was currently pinned to one of his brother's sofas. Gavin trembled as his partner leaned down and lathered kisses on his neck, right above the shoulder where he'd been shot. Gavin still favoured that shoulder, trying to move it as little as possible as the ache throbbed through his muscles.
"Hey…We have a long day tomorrow." He murmured finally, knowing that if Nines kept going he was going to lose it. He could already feel his heart pounding, tingles flooding his senses from where Nines was pressing nips and kisses into his soft skin. Nines hummed his agreement as he moved up, his lips dragging along Gavin's neat stubble to his soft lips. He didn't move his mouth as Nines pressed a few gentle kisses to it, still trying to keep his cool.
"We do…so you should get undressed and let me fuck you to my satisfaction now, or I'll fuck you through until morning." Nines purred, smirking as a moan of want escaped Gavin's pink lips. Nines reached down to stroke and squeeze Gavin's clothed length for emphasis. "You'd like that, wouldn't you? You'd like to feel my cock in your ass, buried deep and stretching you out…I could fill you over and over, for hours…Make you say my name so many times you forget how to say anything else…" He murmured in a voice like honey, enjoying the way Gavin trembled with need. The room was heavy with the scent of his arousal, all musk and fresh sweat. His vitals were spiking as his hips jerked up.
"Wait Nines! We should think about this." Gavin objected as he gripped his own hair, still thinking this was a really bad idea. Not that I haven't gone along with it once already…Who the fuck's side are you on Reed? Fuck!
"Too. Much. Thinking." Nines retorted as he pressed kisses against Gavin's lips and neck. "Get on the fucking bed." He added as he drew back and got to his feet, not giving Gavin much choice as he lifted him to his feet. Gavin would have stumbled if not for Nines' strong arms around his waist. Their lips connected before he could say anything else. Nines' mouth was hot and demanding, the sheer neediness making Gavin's legs feel like jelly. People didn't fucking kiss him like this. Nines isn't people.
"Nines…Fuck, Nines…" Gavin moaned quietly between kisses, reaching up to pull the android closer. Resistance had truly gone out the window now. They barely parted as Nines dragged his shirt up and tossed it aside, large hands stroking and caressing his now bared skin. Not content with being the only one losing clothing, Gavin reached down and grabbed the black T-shirt Nines had put on after his shower. They parted, Gavin breathing hard with flushed cheeks as Nines helped remove his shirt. "Nines…Shouldn't…Fuck, this is bad." The human continued between kisses, his expression both needy and apprehensive.
"Gavin…Please…Want you…Please." Nines urged as he kissed his human, enjoying the needy sounds that escaped him at his words. Nines slowly walked them around the sofa and headed for the bed. Nines was surprised as Gavin moved away from his lips, trailing his lips down to kiss and tease his pecs. He nipped the plush skin with his teeth, even lavishing attention on the small perfect nubs that hardened beneath his tongue. "Gavin…" The android sighed, stroking his hair and tugging him closer as he kissed his head. He could feel his own length filling out, his sexual protocols activating under the gentle teasing.
Nines lost his voice as Gavin suddenly dropped to his knees, his hands dragging his sweatpants and boxers down. He couldn't help a little vulnerability creeping through his stomach as he looked down. Gavin was staring at his half hard length the same way Elijah examined his hardware. The feeling he got was far more pleasant. He hummed gently as Gavin's hands stroked up and down his strong thighs before one finally reached up and gripped his shaft. Gavin used his hand to pump, encouraging the flesh to harden. The android gasped in reflex as Gavin leaned in and licked the tip, his tongue circling and prodding the tip teasingly until Nines' hand gripped the human's hair.
"Will you let me fuck both ends?" Nines asked teasingly, watching Gavin's lips quirk.
"Christ, the fucking mouth on you." He chided lightly as he drew back, keeping his grip steady.
"I learned from the best…and the question stands." Nines retorted, his blue eyes sharp as he rocked his hips into Gavin's firm grip with a small grunt. He noticed the shiver that ran through his human's body at the words. Gavin could still remember it from the dream that seemed so long ago now. He remembered how it had felt with Nines holding his head in place, fucking hard into his throat. He swallowed as he looked up at the now naked android.
"Phck! I can't say no to that." He replied with a smirk as he rose a little higher on his knees and readied himself. He licked his lips and opened his mouth, knowing he'd need to work up to it. He planted his knees firmly on the thick carpet, far more comfortable than the usual back alleys and bathroom floors. Nines stroked his hair as he suckled the tip, simulating his breathing to regulate his temperature and show his enjoyment. He'd be sure to record this. He wanted perfect recall each time he thought of this moment.
"G-Gavin…" Nines moaned, his cheeks flushing pink as he started heating up. It was a marvel that, despite his blood being blue, humans had found a way for the synthetic skin to flush in shades of pink and red. He supposed it was so that humans wouldn't feel unsettled during intercourse. Most of them wouldn't like the reminder that they were fucking a machine. Gavin's hands shifted, both reaching up to grip and tease his hips and rump. He was rocking harder now, already taking in over half the length. He had to strain his jaw slightly, an ache forming as he ran his tongue along the base.
Gavin closed his eyes as he felt Nines grip his hair with one hand and support the side of his head with the other. He was ready. He was so fucking ready. He squeezed Nines' rump as he let his jaw go slack, forcing his throat open as Nines rocked his hips forward. Gavin moaned into it. It felt so familiar, like he'd done it a million times before. To be fair he had done this a lot, on countless bathroom floors, in countless alleyways in the dead of night, and cheap hotel rooms. That wasn't it though. He felt like he'd done this. With Nines.
Apparently he was a little too distracted as Nines tugged his hair and thrust in deeper, almost making him choke. Gavin sharpened his green eyes as he looked up, almost regretting it as he took in the flushed needy mess of an android above him. His mouth was open a little, his blue eyes hazy with desire. That perfect curl of hair was still there, right above his eyebrow. It made Gavin want to step it up and ravish him completely. He sucked as he squeezed Nines' plump cheeks and pulled him closer.
"Hn! Gavin!" Nines choked, his hips rocking almost uncontrollably as he fucked his human's mouth. Gavin didn't even breathe as he held on and let Nines control things. It didn't take long. With a final deep thrust the android came with a whimper, the sound sending a shiver down his partner's spine. He swallowed so that he didn't choke and drew back, gasping for breath with a deep flush in his cheeks. He'd barely caught his breath before Nines dragged him up by the back of his neck and attacked his lips.
He was lifted and dumped on the bed, the android on top in an instant. The thick duvet was plush and cool beneath his back, and he sank into it with Nines above. The android wasted no time, attacking his throat as he reached down and tugged the human's sweats and pants off. He was pleased as he saw the solid length spring free, already dripping. Nines had done that. His human had gotten hard from sucking his cock, and tasting his skin. He moaned and purred as he watched his human spread his legs. He caressed Gavin's cheek as he returned to his lips.
"Good human…My good human." He purred as he nuzzled Gavin's jaw. He knew his human liked that. His vitals always spiked at the gentle contact. While working his way slowly down Gavin's body he squeezed out some of his own lubricant release. He didn't have a refractory period, so he'd already filled his own length once more. Gavin gasped and threw his head back as the first finger slipped into his passage. "That's it…good Gavin…" Nines praised as he stroked and teased, slipping in a second finger just as easily.
"Uhn! Nines…Nines!" Gavin moaned needily, his hands grasping uselessly at the duvet as he writhed. Nines smirked into Gavin's jutting hip, pressing kisses into the muscled flesh as he continued to tease with his fingers. He loved the sound of his name on Gavin's lips. "Fuck me! Christ, Nines, just." His human almost whined, breathing hard as the android continued to move lower. He jerked upward as Nines' tongue licked up from the base of his solid member.
"Patience…I'm nearly there." Nines murmured assuringly as he slowly teased in a third finger. He wanted to make sure Gavin was ready. He didn't want to hurt his delicate human. Gavin whined this time, a small chuckle escaping his partner's lips at the sound. "Be good for me Gavin…You're so good for me." He praised softly, working his fingers around in search of that spot. Gavin gave a shuddering whimper as he found it, spine arching as Nines' mouth closed around his length. He didn't want to work Gavin up too much, so after a few more searching strokes and long sucks he drew back.
"Nines…" Gavin whispered needily as the android shifted. The human widened his legs obediently, wrapping them around his partner's slim hips and locking his ankles. It wasn't his usual position, but it was nice. He didn't often get to look up at his partners during sex. The majority of them would just bend him over the nearest surface, or make Gavin ride them reverse cowgirl. He understood it. Most went for him because of his body. They found it unsettling to look at his scarred face. It was fair enough, at least he got laid, but Nines was different. He loved those scars, the small imperfections that he could never replicate on his own body.
"Gavin…" Nines moaned in response as he slowly eased himself in, supporting Gavin's arched spine with one hand. "You're so warm." He added quietly, enjoying the shade of pink that graced the human's features at the observation. Nines rocked himself deeper, enjoying the way his human's passage shrouded him in tight warmth. He hummed in contentment, watching Gavin's green eyes staring up at him in something between wonderment and disbelief.
Nines couldn't take it. It was a crime for those lips to go unkissed a moment longer. He leaned down and claimed them possessively, their tongues tangling in an increasingly familiar dance. Gavin's hands instantly left the sheets in order to cling to his partner. He clawed his back and shoulders, tugged and palmed his hair, stroked his abs and chest. All the while he kept himself open to Nines' strong thrusts, bouncing against the android's pelvis as he gripped tightly with his thighs. Nines had greatly enjoyed their last encounter, but he preferred it this way. The bed gave him much more control and room, and their position allowed him to both kiss and observe his human.
He tore himself away from Gavin's lips, determined to record the expression on his face. He caught Gavin's wrist as he slowly reached towards his own length. The human whined in protest, clearly feeling wronged at being kept from his release. Nines wanted to draw their coupling out longer. He wanted to see more expressions, more colour, more desperation.
"I want to make you finish." Nines moaned, watching Gavin's eyes glitter with need and want at the suggestion. It wasn't as easy as he had expected. He needed to get the right angle to hit that spot, and he hadn't quite found it yet. He held one of Gavin's hips, pressing his supple body down into the mattress so that he could hit a deeper angle.
"N-Nines!" Gavin moaned urgently, the spike of his vitals telling the android he'd found his prostate. He smirked as he rocked again, Gavin's hands fisting in the sheets as he stared up breathlessly. "More! Fuck!" The human demanded, the sound of slapping flesh filling the room as Nines rocked his hips and bounced Gavin against his pelvis with increasingly rough thrusts. Nines was ready to release, but he held back. He wanted to finish with Gavin this time. It happened suddenly. With a final cry of his name Gavin came, warmth splattering between them.
Nines rested his head on the bed beside Gavin's neck, his breath hot on the human's shoulder as he took a breather. He turned off his sexual subroutines, allowing his member to soften in Gavin's warm passage. He didn't want to move. Moving meant the risk of rejection. That was how it had been before. Gavin's breaths slowly levelled out, his body feeling heavy and sated. He looped an arm around Nines' waist with a sigh, stroking the scratched up skin. His vitals levelled out, and he slipped into a content state. Nines nuzzled his human before pulling out and rolling to the side, content to remain with him for now. Gavin seemed just as settled as he shuffled closer. They would need to clean up, but not yet, not so soon after their coupling.
