Chapter Eight Wally West

Wally's heat sank. "Oh boy."

Percy contorted the water into the shape of a massive hand and brought it down. Two young male adults were moving away but they weren't going to make it.

Wally sped over, grabbing both of them by the scruffs of their shirts and dragged them out of the way.

The solidified water hand slammed down. Mud and water splattered everywhere as it left a five-foot handprint in the sand.

The two men took off screaming.

Wally began running, putting people safely out of danger placing them on the sidewalks of streets a little distance away from the beach.

Percy motioned toward the lake again and moving his hands like a crazed music conductor he slowly began forming a long water board. He brought the water board to knee level and he jumped on.

Wally had just finished moving a father and a daughter of the same family to safety.

Percy rose with his water board, his enormous hand of water hovered right underneath him, ready to attack. Suddenly the hand dove downwards, it was aimed at the Mother of the family Wally had moved away.

Wally dashed for her. He was fractions of a second too late.

Instead of crushing her, the fingers closed around her preventing her from writhing free of its grasp.

Percy raised the hand high and continued the ascent.

"Put her down! Put her down!" Wally's heart wanted to fly out its chest. He'd never been so anxious, so terrified before.

The fingers of the hand opened pointing downwards, and the woman slid out.

Wally spiralled both arms rapidly creating a cushion of air upwards in her direction. He took the greatest care to steadily bring her down as softly as he could. When she was brought down low enough, Wally embraced her.

The woman began panting heavily. "Thank you, thank you, thank you. I was afraid my family wouldn't see me again," she breathed deeply, shaking heavily and then her body began to rock lightly with sobs. The beautiful woman had dark brown skin and she smelled of citrus and sandalwood. Her pony twist hairstyle reminded Wally of his Mom. (His Mom had often done her hair like that.) She was just another kind-hearted loving innocent Mom. And it angered him so much that she'd nearly lost her life.

"I'll take you to your family, don't worry they're all safe. And I'm so sorry that this happened to you," Wally soothed. He patted her gently on the back. He had to get her to her family before Percy did something stupid again. "Hang on tightly please."

The sensor in Wally's suit tingled stinging his wrist.

Something sharp pricked Wally in the side of his neck and his strength began waning. Blackness started eating at the sides of his eyes before all too quickly everything went completely black.
