F3: Hello everyone and welcome to chapter 12. We last left off where Vanessa is about to put her plan into motion. RWBY is the property of Rooster Teeth and Monty Oum. Also the OC characters in the story are owned by me unless said otherwise. With that said Let's Roll Out!
Volume 4-12 Blue: Mission of Importance.
Time past as the group of four were slowly heading their way to Corquina but with the wind seemed to have picked up as it was starting to blow the sand around trying to blind their sight.
"How much further do we have to go?" Cardin asked trying to keep the sand from getting into his eyes.
"Not much further. Hopefully we get their before the wind picks up anymore. Sandstorms are not something to mess with when your in a desert. You can get lost very quickly." Mars called back as she too was trying to keep the sand out.
To their luck the Mars noticed the edge of the town in the distance. A few more minutes past and the small sandstorm they had quickly died down as they reached Corquina as the town was still hussling a bussling like it was normal for them.
"Wow... so this is where you live?" Velvet said rather surprise at the small town.
"Yeah it's not much but it's what we call home. Speaking of which let's stop at my place for now. The sun is going to be going down soon and it gets really cold during the night" Mars suggested as they dismounted from the camels and walked the rest of the way to Mars's house.
They entered the house setting their things down as they were finally able to relax.
Mars swiped her hands through her hair making sure to get all the sand out of it.
"That was quite something. Though sandstorms can get way worse than that and they last a lot longer too." Mars added.
"Yeah guess it comes with the territory of living in a desert." Velvet replied going through her own hair for any loose sand.
"Well feel free to look around town if you like. Their is also a bathhouse if you want to use it which we could probably all use it after the amount of time we've been in the sun." Mars said.
"Yeah we probably could." Cardin added.
Though Octavia simply sat down on the couch as if she was contemplating about something and she was rather nervous being in Corquina as well which didn't go unnoticed by Velvet.
"Is something bothering you Octavia? You've been quiet the whole trip?" Velvet asked getting the girls attention.
"Huh? Sorry I just had a lot on my mind lately. Though the bathhouse does sound like an idea for now. I'll join you later." Octavia said as she got up from the couch and walked door leaving the house.
"Is she going to be okay? She sounded rather off if you ask me." Cardin said.
"I know somethings been bugging her but she won't say what." Mars added.
"Maybe it's not a something but maybe a someone that she's thinking about." Velvet replied which made them look at her with some confusion.
"What do you mean? Who could she be thinking about?" Cardin asked. Velvet cupped her chin as if to think for a moment before coming up with an answer that she think might be it.
"Well... someone does come to mind. Gwen Darcy." Velvet answered.
"Oh right... she was one of the victims of the attack on Vale. Heard she had large slash marks across her chest and died of blood loss. You think she might not be over her death yet." Cardin said though he was one to talk since he's still thinking about his fallen teammates that died in Vale.
"Though I doubt she's the only one. Her team is probably hasn't gotten over it yet either and are dealing with it in different ways. Octavia... I'm not sure what she's doing but the best we can do is give her some space until she accepts the reality." Mars said. Even though they didn't like the idea they decided to leave the red haired girl alone for the time being.
"But I don't know about you but the bathhouse is call my name. How about you Vel care to join me?" Mars asked almost excitingly.
"Well... a good bath would do me some good." Velvet answered.
"Great. Let's go." Mars said.
"I'll probably head to the market and get some stuff to cook for dinner when you girls get back." Cardin added as Velvet and Mars headed to the bathhouse while he went to market to find anything he could buy.

In another part of town Octavia was slowly making her way toward the one place she never thought she'd be going to. Though she was walking at a moderate pace as if she was contemplating of what to say. Though in her mind the words seemed to not come to her leaders house was now just a few feet in front of her.
She still remembered what she said to her leader when Vale was under attack by the grimm.
[Flashback, Fall of Beacon]
The remaining members of team NDGO were rushing through the city to get to the docks which hopefully had an airship to take them to Vacuo. Nebula fired another crossbow bolt into a grimm that killed it though she was running dangerously low on ammo with Dew and Octavia right behind her but still no sign of Gwen.
"Damnit why isn't she picking up her scroll!?" Nebula shouted but she was also concerned for her girlfriend and hoped that she was okay.
"C'mon we're almost their. Just up this street and we'll be at the docks." Dew pointed out as they headed up the street. Luckily their weren't any grimm on the street so it was safe for them to cross but their was plenty of debris scattered about. Though something caught Dews eye as their was something metal on the ground that look very familiar to her. It was some sort glaive type weapon that was seemed to be split in two with the claw hook missing as well.
"Stars weapon? What is it doing here?" Dew questioned.
"We don't have time for that we need to get out of here now!" Octavia ordered. Dew gathered the remains of the weapon and ran.
After getting to the docks there was still no sign of Gwen but their were many wounded and dead as well. Nebula tried calling Gwens scroll again but this time she heard the scrolls ring tone nearby which didn't sit well with her as she looked to her right and noticed the sound was coming from underneath a blanket of a body.
"Alright I've secured us a ride out of here but we need to-" Octavia said but noticed that her leader wasn't listening as she stared at the covered body of Gwen.
"Neb... we need to leave now." Octavia said.
"I should've watched her. Making sure she was okay." Nebula said tears forming in her eyes.
That was when Octavia had enough as she marched over to her with Dew not liking the look in her eye.
She roughly grabbed Nebula making her eyes stare into her own.
"I've had it up to here with this. I knew from the start that you being appointed as leader was the worst call the headmistress could make! On every turn you seem to somehow mess things up but this is by far the worst thing that could happen. Neglecting the safety of a team member. Gwen is dead and it's all on you!" Octavia ranted.
"Octy..." Dew started but was immediately silenced by a stare from Octavia.
"Oh no you're not pulling her ass out of the fire this time! It was her idea to stay and help them get their school under control but looked what happen!? Beacon is gone and so is Vale! This wasn't our fight!" Octavia shouted before turning back to Nebula.
"You disappoint me Nebula. Your family would be disappointed in you." Octavia said which really hit the girl hard.
"I'm not sure I can trust you as leader anymore. When we get back to Vacuo this team... is done." Octavia said she walked toward the airship to take them home.
[End Flashback]
It didn't take her long to know how much of a mistake she made. She knew about Nebulas parents who died three years ago when raiders attacked them as they were returning home. She also knew how sensitive that topic was to her but she didn't put that into consideration when she was ranting on about her leadership. And she knew that Nebula loved Gwen like the two were siblings but they were more than that.
She wanted to correct this so with her goal in sights she marched her way up to Nebulas house. She raised her fist as if too knock but something was holding her back or was it because she was just nervous about what her leader would say.
Shaking off the nervousness she knocked on the door three time.
"No turning back now." She thought as she waited. Luckily she didn't have to wait long as door opened revealing her team leader as their olive green eyes met.
Though she took in her leaders appearance as her indigo colored hair had grown since the last time she'd saw her as it was now at her shoulders and no longer swept to her side.
There was a pregnant pause between the two of them as none of them said a word at first as they only stared at each other for a moment. Though that ended when Octavia spoke up first but she was still rather nervous.
"Um... hey Neb." Octavia greeted but Nebula glared at her sharply and began to close the door on her. Though she reacted quickly to stop her leader from closing the door on her.
"Wait! I just want to talk!" Octavia called.
"Oh sure like how we talked in Vale City! Yeah not interested in talking!" Nebula shouted as she further pushed the door shut but Octavia held firm to prevent her from doing so.
"Look I'm sorry okay! I'm sorry I lashed out at you back at Vale!" Octavia called out.
"All I want to do is talk... please." She said almost pleading with her leader. Nebula stopped pushing on the door as she thought for a moment.
"I must be out of my mind." Nebula thought before opening the door allowing Octavia to enter.
"Fine... you got ten minutes." Nebula said as she moved from the door.
A small smile appeared on Octavias face as she was given a chance to at least talk with her leader which was a small victory as she entered the house.
The house itself had most of the basic of furnitures with a couch, a chair and a simple coffee table that is placed in the middle between of the couch and chair. There is also a fireplace with a mantle on top of it. On the mantle various pictures align it that show Nebula with her parents.
Octavia sat down on the couch as she was thinking of what to say to Nebula as the girl returned with two glasses of lemonade as she placed Octavias in front of her. Nebula than sat across from her in the chair with the coffee table separating the two. There was a pause between the two for a moment but Octavia knew she was running out of time so if anything she better start talking right now.
"So... how have things been for you lately?" Octavia questioned as she mentally facepalmed herself probably already knowing the answer to that.
"Great... yourself." Nebula responded in a more moncrhomatic tone as if wanting her to get to the point.
Octavia gulped nervously at this and decided to take a breath before letting it out slowly as she knew what to speak about next.
"I... I'm sorry about what I said to you back in Vale... about your parents. It was out of line and-" Octavia started but Nebula spoke next.
"You're damn right it was out line. You don't just talk about someones parents that are dead like what you did. You of all people should know that as well." Nebula said hitting a sore spot on Octavia.
While it was true that Octavia was raised in Vacuo but she was actually originated from Mistral but due to some legal trouble her parents did that had to relocate to Vacuo. It wasn't until when Octavia was eleven that her mother was diagnosis with cancer which unfortunately took her life and it was just her father that was working two jobs just to stay afloat which lead to a very lonely childhood for Octavia.
"Yeah... I know." She said softly but that didn't seem to satisfy Nebula.
"So why did you even say it then when you know that family is important to me!? Do you know how hurt I was when you told me that my own parents would be disappointed in me!? Not only that but losing Gwen made it hurt even worse! Do you even care what happens to me!?" Nebula shouted.
"Of course I care about you Neb." She said trying to calm her leaders rage.
"Like hell you care! If you did then you would've understand but what you did was beyond crossing a line! You blamed me for Gwens death! Yeah I know I'm not perfect but doesn't mean you have to throw it in my face and degrade me for it but what hurt worse was you talking about my parents! At least mine would've been proud of me for at least trying to help but it's your's who would be disappointed in you! We may have been huntresses in training but that doesn't mean we shouldn't ignore help from helping people!" Nebula shouted as she was now breathing heavily finishing her ranting.
For Octavia she simply stayed quiet throughout the whole thing as she simply stared down at the floor taking everything Nebula thrown at her and it certainly hurt her hearing it from her leader. Tears were already forming but they were out of view from Nebula but that didn't mean she noticed one fall from her eyes.
"You're right... I'm just a disappointment." Octavia said quietly but enough for Nebula to hear which caught the girl off guard.
"Huh?" She said looking at her teammate.
"I- I shouldn't o-of said all those t-things to you. I should've b-been supportive when G-Gwen died but I w-wasn't. I took out all m-my anger on you and Dew that I- I said the worst things to you. You cared about each of us... you cared about Gwen. I- I couldn't s-stop myself. It m-must've been h-horrible to you. I-I can't even f-forgive myself after what I said." Octavia cried before burying her face in her hands.
"I'm a terrible person! I-I don't deserve to b-be forgiven." She cried more into her hands as her cried echoed throughout Nebulas home. This caught the girl completely off guard as she knew that Octavia was a hard skinned girl but seeing her pretty much break down right in front her wasn't what she was expecting. Letting out a sigh Nebula got up from the couch and walked over to her crying teammate and sat next to her. The next thing she did surprised even Octavia as she felt the warm embrace of her leaders arms.
"If your going to cry... at least let me shoulder it for you." Nebula said. That made the dam broke as Octavia cried into her leaders shoulder as Nebula patted her head and rocked her back and forth. This went on for about five minutes until Octavia crying finally settled as she pulled away from her leader.
"You feel better now." Nebula said as Octavia wiped away the rest of her tears.
"A little bit. Thanks." Octavia added.
"Listen... I'm sorry for what I said back their. I shouldn't of-" Nebula began but her teammate stopped her.
"No. You had every right to be angry with me. I sort of deserved it." She said.
The two stayed quiet for a few more minutes until the red haired girl spoke up again.
"You know I remember the first time we first met. We were nothing but a mess of personalities. Each one of us with different personalities but we somehow made it work." Octavia added.
Nebula chuckled at it "Yeah. That was something else I'll say that." Nebula said.
"Though I remember you were certainly twitter patted when you saw Gwen. I swore you got sunburnt." Octavia teased before Nebula nudged her in response.
"Yeah I know." Nebula added with a small smile not even denying the teasing. She reached behind her and brought out one of Gwens daggers. It was a gift from her for Nebulas birthday which was kind of last minute but Nebula loved it anyway.
"This was the last thing she gave me before we went to the tournament." Nebula said somberly.
"Yeah... we had a lot of good times together. Some good, some bad but all rememberable." Octavia said as she placed a hand on Nebulas shoulder.
"But she won't ever be forgotten. You know that right." She added as Nebula nodded.
"So what do we do now? Technically the team has been disbanded and Dew is in Gossan. I honestly don't know what I could do." Nebula added placing her chin in her open palm.
That was when Octavia got an idea. She remembered that her and the group were heading to Gossan to find Star and possibly Carmine at the same time but it would take far too long to get their and back to the capital.
"Actually their might be something." Octavia answered which got Nebulas attention.
"Oh and what's that?" She questioned as Octavia explained the situation that were facing.
"So you need to get to Gossan in a hurry so you can find Star and this Carmine women right." Nebula said as Octavia nodded.
Nebula pondered for a moment as if she was getting an idea before she smirked.
"How about you bring the group by tomorrow. I may have something that'll help." Nebula said.
"There's the old Nebula I know and loved. Always having an idea in her head." Octavia commented.
"Yeah yeah now get going yah brick head." Nebula said shooing her out the door. Octavia only smiled at this as they seemed to now have put things behind them though she wondered what Nebula had in store for them.

Meanwhile in Gossan the sun was starting to set on the small town as Star was currently in the home of Dew and her family as Grayson had finished prepping dinner and placed the small spread in front of them. It was a large ham cut into pieces along with a bowl of mashed potatoes and green beans to go with it.
"Alright everyone dig in." Grayson said and everyone started eating dinner as Star grabbed a few pieces of ham and bits of the rest.
Ten minutes into eating Star couldn't help but wonder about Sharrons leg and how it happened.
"Um... if I may ask? You said it was a grimm attack that injured your leg. What kind of grimm was it?" Star questioned which made Sharron smirk a little.
"So glad you asked that." Sharron said which made Grayson and Dew groan at this.
"Oh jeez here we go." Grayson groaned.
Sharron put her utensils down as she started her story "Okay picture this. It was a year ago. I was called to handle a grimm attack in Feldspar. Well over fifty grimm that all ranged from ursas, beringals, to chimeras and even manticores. It was me and my team to take them down and boy let me tell did we put up a hell of a fight against them." She started almost overreacting the story which kinda made Star chuckle.
"We battled for hours but we managed to get the grimm under control. However a Digger grimm shot a spike through my knee and with my aura being low it couldn't heal which is why I'm stuck in a cast until it heals properly." Sharron said.
"And how long have you been in it now?" She asked.
"Oh... about eight months now. Hard to walk around to do anything which why Grayson's been helping me out." Sharron added.
"That's been quite a while then. I hope you recover soon." Star said as they continued eating dinner.
Dew slowly moved toward Star as she whispered into her ear "You know she was just overreacting the story right." She whispered but Star only nodded.
"Yeah. I know someone who did that at Beacon." She whispered back.
After finishing the dinner Sharron opted for doing the dishes with Graysons help of course Dew and Star went into the other room.
"Your family is rather nice. Inviting someone they barely even know." Star said.
"Well like dad said. An unknown person is just a friend you haven't met yet." Dew quoted but then she remembered something.
"Oh right. There's something I want to show you." Dew said as she gestured Star to follow her.
She followed Dew to her bedroom which consisted of a hammock with a desk and a closest. It was a simple room which it wasn't that flashy.
Dew went into her closest and began rummaging through it as if searching for something.
"Now where did I put you... ah their you are." She said before pulling out what Star wasn't expecting to see again.
It was Kitsune or what remained of it as the staff was broken but the claw hook was still intact.
"I managed to salvage what I could but this is all that's left of it." Dew said handing the items over to Star.
Star held her old weapon in her hands as she carefully examined it. She noticed the only thing that was salvageable was the hook claw which also seemed to give her an idea but she didn't have any tools to do it.
"The hook claw I can probably salvage but everything else... I don't think I can make anything out of it." Star said holding back tears. She had many fond memories of Kitsune from when she first got it, learning to use it, and many various fights she had with it.
"Well at least something good came out of it then." Dew replied as the two became quiet for a minute or two but Star can tell something was bothering her as she decided to ask.
"Hey... how are you holding up? I mean with what happened to Gwen." Star asked.
Dew froze for a moment before turning away from Star which did raise some concern from the fox faunus.
"It... was terrible what happened to Gwen. She still had a life ahead of her and just for it to be taken away like that... she didn't deserve that." Dew said softly.
"She was like the backbone of the team that kept us in line and going despite Nebula being the leader. To me... she was like a little sister I never had before even though were not related it certainly felt like it." Dew replied.
Star could only hum at her statement as she too understood what Dew was talking about as she too felt connected to Cinder as a sister figure to her along with the others.
"Yeah... I know that feeling." Star added.
"Losing her was... difficult to digest." Dew replied.
"I... can only imagine." Star replied but she then remembered the small plague on the mantle.
"Um... hey. This might be a little personal but you don't have to answer. I noticed something on the mantle when I came in. It read For Miles. Is that suppose to mean something?" Star questioned.
Dew didn't answer for several seconds but she eventually spoke up.
"That... was meant for my brother." Dew answered. "He would've been six years old right now." She started.
"Would've? What do you mean?" Star questioned.
"It was five years ago and mom was pregnant with another child. Originally he wasn't due for another month but her water broke and was rushed to the hospital. Dad was worried about her every step of the way and when it came to finally give birth... something happened." Dew began.
"There were complications and mom had to be revived as she was dead for about five minutes. The newborn... wasn't so lucky. Died thirty minutes later. It tore mother up that she didn't want to risk having another baby. So I was an only child. That name Miles was the name of the child that she gave him when he was born." Dew replied.
"I'm... sorry... I shouldn't of asked." Star said regretting asking the question.
"It's fine... we got by pretty well." Dew added.
Star did notice the time as she had to get back to Carmine at the underground city before it got dark.
"I better get going. I have someone waiting on me." Star said as she headed toward the door.
"Sure you don't want to stay? It's getting pretty late." Dew replied.
"I'll be okay. It's not far where I have to go." She said.
"Alright well... stay safe out their." Dew replied as Star thought it was time to leave and head back to the underground city and with an idea in mind she couldn't wait.

It was now nighttime as Melanie and May made the long track to the hideout of the White Fang and each of them had a sack containing the Fracture Bombs that Vanessa had gave them and they knew what their objective was. Though they had to be sneaky and not attract any of the guards or anyone else that could be in the area.
The two were now on the outer perimeter of the hideout just out of view from everyone inside. Melanie brought out her scroll which then displayed a map of their general location and showed it to May.
"Alright from what I understand we are currently here." Melanie said pointing to a spot on the map near the hideout.
"And the mines are in this area here." She added pointing to the area of the mine as she circled the area.
"Now we only have three bombs a piece. We each place two bombs here, and here." Melanie said as she circled two of the three mines on the map.
"Then we both meet up at the last one and set our last bombs and then we get out of their before they go off." Melanie explained.
"You sure that plan is going to work. We going to need to act fast but quiet. These bombs will only give us ten minutes which doesn't sound like a big window." May added.
"I know but that's all I got for the moment. I say if we want to shut them down completely we have to place one inside the mine and one outside for maximum damage." Melanie replied.
"Remember we have to be silent. You go right and I'll go left. Meet in the middle." She added as the two headed off in opposite directions.
For May while she didn't have night vision like her faunus companion her prosthetic eye gave her just what she needed to see in the dark.
It took her a few moments to get to one of the mines but she found it though there was only one problem their were a pair of guards hanging around and she didn't want to scare them so they would alert the others. So she needed a way to distract them but she didn't know what. Then she got an idea even though she wasn't going to like it as she unzipped her jacket to show off her cleavage.
She slung her rifle over her shoulder and decided to step out into full view of them and put on her act as she pretended to limp. The guards immediately noticed and aimed their rifles at her.
"Hey! Hold it right their!" The guard called out.
"Oh thank god. You gotta help me. I lost my team and I don't know where I am. I think I've broke my ankle too." May cried out hoping that they didn't shoot her then and their. The two guards simply looked at each other before looking back at May or more like her chest region as they gave each other a silent wink at one another. They lowered their rifles and proceed to help the injuredd girl wrapping her arm around their shoulders. Though she could've sworn that one of them groped her.
"Their should be a med kit in the mine to help that ankle." He said.
"Oh thank you both." She said sweetly trying to ignore the hand on her breast. Though when they got into the mine that was when she made her move and in one quick motion knock the two guards heads together which was more than enough to knock them out without raising alarm. She zipped up her jacket to cover her chest before glaring at the two unconscious guards.
"Perverts." She muttered before taking out the first bomb and placing it inside the mine on a nearby wall as she pressed the button starting the timer. She then headed back to the front of the mine and took out her second bomb as she did the same thing setting the timer. But now she looked back at the knocked out guards and wondered what to do with them. She carefully dragged them away making sure they were out of the blast radius as she then headed toward the third mine.
Meanwhile with Melanie she was already at the first mine but their was only one problem. Like what happened with May their were guards posted at the mine making sure no one got in for the night. Though one of the guards was a female as she could tell from her posture. However her male guard was seemingly getting anxious about something as his posture wasn't the best.
"Hey I gotta go take a leak. You got this covered?" The male guard replied which made the female groan.
"Fine. Make it quick okay." She said as the guy walked away which only left the female guard. She looked over the guards body which seemed pretty well fit and that was when she got an idea.
She quickly loaded a different magazine into her handgun before firing a silenced shot at the guard as the shot hit its. The guard feeling where the shot hit her tried to figure out where it came from but suddenly became dizzy and was about to drop to the ground. Luckily Melanie rushed at her and prevented the guard from falling to the ground.
She then carefully dragged her over to the bushes and started stripping the guard of her clothing. She made sure to sort her own clothing in a pack nearby and was now wearing the guards clothing even though it was rather tight around the chest area as it bothered her a little.
"Geez you couldn't be a few sizes bigger." She mutter as she holstered her handgun while grabbing the rifle.
Making sure the male guard hadn't returned yet she then began her plan. She went inside the mine and placed one of the bombs inside on the stone wall as she pressed the button to activate the timer. Making sure it was set as she headed back to the entrance and set a bomb their. Now came the tricky part getting to the third mine without getting spotted while wearing a Fang uniform.
"Hey!" The male guard returned as he called out to her.
"Crap!" She mentally cursed.
"Who are you? You don't look familiar." He asked.
She had to think of something quick or she was going to be full of holes.
"Um... I'm the new girl." She replied nervously.
"New girl? I didn't know that we had one. Boss didn't say anything about that." He said getting rather suspicious.
Okay now she really needed to think of something but luckily she had something in mind.
"I'm... from the Haven branch. Just recently joined and was assigned here." She said trying to sound convincing.
"And what about the other one that was here." He replied.
"I relieved her of her duties and took over as the guard." She replied confidently.
He stared at her for a moment almost trying to a reaction out of her but she stood firm.
"Well... how do you feel like covering the two of us then? Newbies job after all." He replied.
"Of course. I'll take care of this." She answered as the male guard left leaving her by herself. Making sure he was gone she quickly changed back into her attire and grabbed the sack and headed toward the third mine.
May got to the third mine but it has been three minutes since she got their and was starting to get nervous and wondering where Melanie was. Luckily she didn't wait long as Melanie showed up next to her.
"Where were you?" May replied.
"Sorry about that. Got caught up with guard duty." Melanie said.
"I don't even want to ask." May said as the two looked at the last mine which for some reason was unguarded.
"What do you think? They might be inside." Melanie asked as May used her prosthetic eye to see inside the mine. For some reason their was nothing inside not even a guard but something did catch her eye as she noticed that the tunnels were connected to the other two mines.
"Nothing. Though we better be careful I don't like the looks of this." May said cautiously as the two approached the mine. They had to be silent but quick as the timers on the other bombs were still going and they have between six to seven minutes before they go off.
They were now in the front of the mine which was unguarded. Melanie looked over the entrance and she noticed something immediately.
"Look." She said pointing out a metal pole sticking out of the ground and another one directly across from it. May blinked a few times which switched settings on her prosthetic before going to infred and noticed a small red beam going across it.
"Trip wire. We cross this and the entire camp will know we're here." May said.
"Okay then let's carefully go over it." Melanie replied as the two carefully went over the trip wire. Once inside the two placed their bombs in different areas of the mine.
"Set the timer to five minutes. That's not a lot of time so we better get out of here." May said as the two went back out and being careful not to trip the wire as they successfully left the property but stayed to watch how it would turn out.
As this was happening the male guard from earlier returned to the main building of the property to rest as he noticed Trifa looking over the map of the capital but then looked over to the male guard.
"I thought you were on guard duty." Trifa replied.
"I was relieved of duty. The new girls got it." He replied which confused Trifa.
"New girl? What are you talking about?" She asked.
"You know from the Haven branch. She was assigned here." He added.
"There was no one assigned here but those that are here." Trifa replied. Suddenly the door opened revealing the female guard but only in her bra and panties as she stumbled inside. Trifa immediately went to assist the guard before she could fall.
"What the heck happened!?" She asked.
"I... don't know... I was standing guard... then I felt something on my neck. Next thing... I know I was half naked when I woke up." The female guard said as Trifa quickly covered her up with a long blanket.
Trifa had a feeling something wasn't right so she picked up a walkie and called the other team at the mine.
"Alpha. Charlie. Do you copy?" She called but all she was getting was static.
"Alpha! Charlie! Do you copy!?" She hollered into the walkie only to get the same result. She knew something was wrong and she had to act.
"Get the men! Tell them to head to the-" Before she could finish there was a very loud explosion coming from the mines. A look of shock and terror was on her face as she ran out of the house and noticed that the mines had exploded into nothing but rubble.
"No. No no no!" Trifa shouted now very angry but now also very worried looking at the damage that had happened. With the amount of damage it would be impossible to dig it out and start over.
Then the one thing she didn't want to here was that her scroll was ringing as she went wide eyed.
"Um... ma'am your-" The male guard said but was met with a slap on his face.
"Check the damage and anyone that is injured!" She ordered as he ran like his life depended on it.
She looked at who was calling and wasn't surprised at who it was as she answered it.
"High leader Amitola. It's an honor to hear from you." Trifa started trying to not sound nervous.
"Cut the chatter. How are things over in the Vacuo? I take it you're preparing to attack Shade Academy soon." A female voice said in the scroll.
"Um..." Trifa started trying to come up with something.
"Um? Is their something the matter Trifa." The female voice questioned.
Trifa gulped at this before she answered "We... hit a snag." She said and can hear the disgruntle of the females voice.
"Our mines had got destroyed. We don't know how or by who. We are still-" Trifa started but the females voice cut her off.
"I don't want excuses Trifa. I asked you to do one simple thing and so far I'm not very impressed. Maybe I need to inform my men to make sure you do a better job as an incentive. If you know what I mean." The females voice said which almost scared Trifa out of her wits.
"NO! Please! They have suffered enough!" Trifa shouted trying not to sound like she was pleading.
"Then I want you to get it done. Remember Trifa The White Fang owns you now. Don't you forget that. The next call I make had better you telling me that Shade Academy has fallen." She said before hanging up on Trifa.
Trifa had to hold back having to shout into the night air but now she needed to do something.
"I want those things ready and prepped in the next seventy - two hours or I swear it'll be all of your asses!" She ordered as the guards scrambled to get the order completed.
Meanwhile May and Melanie thought it was time to head out and back to the academy. Though now they had a deadline before the attack. They had three days and they need to get everyone back together before that happens.
