So... I was contemplating publishing this tomorrow to give me more time to work on it but then I made this the 'daughter of death' chapter and I figured that I liked it. Also, will someone tell me if you think that 800 words is too short for a chapter? I think it is fine... The next chapter is called: 'The Pit Stop' now, READ! Also, for people who are interested I created a Fem!Percy community and it has quite a few books on it so if you would like that go check it out. Another thing, I'm writing a companion story for this with a author named AnnabethChase246, you have seen me talk about her in a past chapter when I introduced the character Alexandra. I called her A. C. 246 She has 2 stories that are pretty good. Go look at them!
Chapter 20 - Daughter of Death
Long story short their story about a bathtub was so unbelievable that Charon instantly figured out they were half-bloods.
After that Percy bribed him with an unbelievable amount of drachmas. Seriously, where did he get them all. Soon they were headed onto the elevator that turned into a boat. The saddest part of the underworld was the river styx. According to Charon it was filled with lost hopes and dreams.
I don't know how he can't sense us. Especially with all of Connor's tapping on my arm and wriggling around like he has ants in his pants. I swear by the time the ferry stopped I was ready to toss Connor off it.
That wasn't the first of many things that happened though. A) Annabeth pushed us off the side of the boat.(I think it was an accident…) B) I let go of Connor so they saw him lying on the ground.
"Who are you?" asked Grover. Getting out of the boat and standing over him.
"Uh… no speak english!" Connor stated before I grabbed his arm and turned him invisible again.
"We have been following them for a litteral week and we are going to get caught because of one incident." I whispered.
I scooped Connor up and we followed the trio towards Cerberus. To say that a three headed rottweiler doesn't like obedience school would be a lie. I mean, he only tried to walk on us once. Red rubber balls. I suppose that would make any dog happy.
A second later we had walked under the stomach of the dog when Goat boy went flying. I mean it. He literally went flying. It wasn't the phrase, 'when pigs fly' it was the phrase, 'my shoes are cursed!'
"Take them off!" Yelled Percy as he chased Gover.
"Kinda hard to do when you are flying feet first!" Grover yelled back.
As we were running I accidentally kept running into a few spirits on the fields of asphodel. Then, I tripped and flipped onto my back.
"What the heck!" screeched a voice.
"What do you mean?" I asked. Rubbing my head.
"Who said that?" a frantic spirit that was different from the others came into my line of view.
"No one much, just a girl trying to make sure her brother doesn't bring on the end of the world." I said, releasing Connor's hand.
"I thought you said a girl." she said bending over Connor. Who was looking t her just as curiously.
"I am a girl." I said, taking off my glove.
"AAH!" the girl jumped back.
I don't really know why but sitting there was giving me a headache.
"You know, you aren't like all the other spirits me and Connor have run into." I said. Rubbing the back of my head.
"You mean you're alive?" she asked.
"Yeah, who are you?" I asked.
"Um, I'm Hazel Levesque. I was told my dad is Pluto." All of a sudden there seemed to be a time freeze around Connor. And my headache ended.
"Roman god of death. Explains why you are different." I said.
All of a sudden i remembered my prophecy, "The roman-greek follows her twin, she meets many gods akin, daughter of death shows a way, later she makes a man of clay."
"Hello? Hey! What is your name?" asked Hazel, waving her slightly transparent hand in front of my face.
"Sorry, I spaced out. I'm Peyton, daughter of Neptune." Where am I getting this knowledge from? Why the Hade would I know?
"What about your friend?" asked HAzel sparing a glance at the slightly creepy image of Connor being frozen in time.
"He is unknown. I don't know who his parents are." I said. Basically she may be dead but that doesn't mean I can reveal my secret.
"Ok, why is he looking at us like that?"
Well, it may or may not be because you are roman and he is greek…
"I don't know, he has always been a little strange." I lied.
"So, if you are alive and you are technically my cousin what are you doing in Pluto's realm?" Hazel asked.
"Well… you know this conversation is throwing me off a lot because you are 2 years older than me chronologically and yeah." I said.
"So it isn't my skin color?" Hazel asked.
"Your skin what? OOOOOh, when did you say you died again?" I asked.
"Sometime in 1942."
"Oh, well. I would like to say skin color isn't a problem anymore because it mostly isn't. I mean, I don't mind, the only reason I am put off is because I'm talking to a dead person. I don't care what color your skin is." I assured.
"Well, that is good. So, again what are you doing down here?"
"I am following my brother because for some reason the fates decreed that we had to come down here." I replied, "Speaking of which, I really need to go find him. Are you willing to watch my creepy friend Connor for a little while?"
"Sure, you better come back for him though. He is freaking me out." Hazel replied.
"Thank you!"
