Became obsessed with Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood so here we go people!
Fort Briggs: Two years ago.
It was nothing they had ever seen before, Major Miles and General Armstrong gazed down their mighty fortress and saw a single man waving at them. The only reason they had not addressed the man yet was...this man was from Drachma. Who knew what he had planned, no one could be foolish enough to simply walk up to the fortress and not know what they are doing.
"Your orders General?" Miles asked saluting her, the woman squinted and could make out a single feature.
The man was giving them the finger.
She blew a puff of air out her nose before she started for the door "Tell the soldiers to stand down, I shall deal with this miscreant myself." she stated and Miles nodded before rushing away to call off any soldiers aiming at the man. Armstrong descended the fortress and came upon a large garage like door, she pressed a button and the shutters rose just enough for her to walk through. She walked out into the freezing cold and faced the man, who had his hands in his pockets and a face cover.
He took his hands out and Armstrong quickly gripped her sword before the man took off his face cover and she sighed in utter annoyance.
"Hey babe!" the first thing that hit her was his faint Drachman accent, the second thing was that annoying smirk.
"Daelin, to what do I owe the displeasure?" Armstrong asked glaring at the man in front of her, though to call him a man was a gift. Daelin Blackmoore was roughly seventeen years old and her height but that was the only mature thing about him. He was snarky, immature, annoying, and loud. His eyes were a brilliant amethyst that almost seemed to glow and his hair was brown and messy as if he had just rolled out of bed, though knowing this cretin Armstrong surmised that he did.
"Why you gotta be like that honey?" he asked his smirk getting bigger.
"Do not call me that! You may refer to me as General Armstrong! Keep it up and you may also call me your executioner!" she barked but the teenager simply laughed.
"Okay okay I'll stop though I'm just saying that we would make really cute babies. Though that would mean you and I would have to-" he started
"WHAT DO YOU WANT?!" she shouted but the teenager remained composed as he pulled a file out of his jacket and handed it to her. She quickly flipped through it and paled "Another attack from Drachma...in four days?!" she said looking at the teen who nodded.
"Sorry I couldn't get it to you sooner. Lord Barrow is starting to lock down information being public. I was able to bribe a few guys and this is all they could get. Sorry General, I wish there was more I could give you but it looks like this is the last time I can help." he said and Armstrong heard the sadness in his voice but said nothing.
She took out a small envelope and handed it to him "Your payment." she stated but the boy smiled and shook his head. He always denied being paid for his job which she never understood but in a way respected him for it for being so selfless.
She nodded in understanding and turned towards the door before she heard his throat clear "Actually there is...something you could do for me..." he said rather shyly. She turned around and looked at her horrified and even squirmed slight before he stared at her confused. After a few seconds his eyes went wide "Oh god no! Not that! Do you really think I would request that?! Come on Olivier, we've known each other for years I expected better from you!" she scratched her head not knowing what to say. Finally he spoke again...
"Please let me pass. I can't return to Drachma knowing I failed..." he said his voice cracking slightly.
Armstrong was shocked to say the least the last thing she ever expected was for Daelin Blackmoore to abandon his country. They stared at each other for a minute or two "But you are-"
"I know who I am! You think that wasn't the first thing to ever cross my mind!? You think that this doesn't break my heart Olivier?! I can't beat you in combat...so please let me through." he shouted at the stoic military leader before him.
Armstrong stared at the ground, her feet were buried in the snow that was starting to pick up. She kept going back and forth on what was right over her duty. They were at war with Drachma how could she let...him...into her nation? How could she be the one that allows him to enter their rival country on her watch as well?!
"Daelin...what you are asking is impossible...to let you through would go against my orders and...I can't do that. Go home." she said and started for the door. She was almost inside when she heard...
"My home is gone...I have nowhere to go. Not anymore." Daelin muttered before he started back down the massive battlefield.
"Daelin wait!" she shouted, the teenager turned around as Armstrong approached him "There is an old pass just west of here, tomorrow we are going to blast it to bits so no Drachman soldiers can get through but its a tiny one cutting through the mountains and bypassing this fortress. If you go there now you can reach it by sunset and make it into Amestris by nightfall or early morning." she said. Daelin nodded and for once Armstrong was not quick enough to anticipate the movement and was caught off guard by the teenager hugging her.
"Thank you...General Armstrong." he whispered before he pulled away and walked down the field before vanishing in the now blizzard like snowfall. Armstrong sighed before walking back into her fortress where Miles was waiting for her.
Miles smiled a little as he saw the file "Daelin again? That kid always comes through doesn't he." he said as she handed him the intelligence and he walked off to prepare for the upcoming attack that they would most assuredly win now.
Armstrong nodded before sitting down and thinking about the teenager. He did always come through but she had to wonder as she looked Miles talking with a few soldiers. Everyone in the fortress had a place, a duty, a purpose...a home. Daelin had none of those, his nation turned on him, his birthright stolen, his family butchered, and his home destroyed. She would always deny what happened next as did Miles as he turned to look at her but in that moment, thinking of the young man who lost everything.
Olivier Mira Armstrong wept.
"Please be safe Daelin."
