Life
No matter how many times Orpheus failed, Hermes found himself hoping he wouldn't next time as the story reset yet again. Even when he did, there were changes made—Hades' heart softened, however temporarily, and Persephone was allowed to leave on time, bringing a warm spring instead of summer.
The crowd smiled in gratitude at her entrance, as did Eurydice, still clutching the carnation from her pockets even if she didn't know why, and Orpheus, bless him, had fallen in love at first sight yet again. Persephone's smile lit up the bar and the world.
If the world had come back to life in summer, it was nothing like the new promise of spring, with dew on the leaves, cool winds, and flowers blooming.
Hermes found it rather cruel that even with spring on the way, it wouldn't last for long. Winter still came, Eurydice still left, and Orpheus still turned, and somewhere along the line Hades' heart grew mistrustful, and Persephone was late again.
But even in late summer the world glowed with promises. And to Hermes, the world coming back to life for a moment was enough to keep going.
