Flowers

As the summer days grew long, Orpheus and Eurydice drank in Persephone's bounty. In the brief time the fruit was ripe and the flowers bloomed, they had to make the most of it, and they spent their nights camping under the stars.

Orpheus didn't know enough about flowers to know what kind they were, but their beauty inspired his music, and he sang to Eurydice of soft petals and fragrant scents as they fell asleep together. When Eurydice woke, flowers were all around her, filling her field of vision, and she laughed as she wove the blossoms into a makeshift crown.

Persephone smiled to see the couple so happy; between the flowers, the songs, and the young love in the air it reminded her of herself and Hades, long ago. She hoped that their time together would last even when the flowers fell apart, petals scattering to the winds.
