Chapter 3: The Hearing Day

In less than 5 days, Judai Yuuki already had most of the members of the Order wrapped around his finger. Most, as in, everyone bar the heartless Snape and the paranoid Mad-Eye. But it was still very impressive, Harry thought.

In fact, the first thing Judai asked after they had introduced each member was for Mrs. Weasley to adopt him ("Oh you poor dear!"), because he didn't want to go back to the orphanage, and poor Miss Crayon must be so worried that he ran away. Mad-Eye suggested that they just obliviated him and be done with it, but Mrs. Weasley protested, her mothering instinct kicking in as she brought Judai closer to her. Professor Lupin agreed with Mrs. Weasley, but because he thought even if they wiped Judai off his memory, he would just come back. When they turned to Judai, who looked like he hadn't a care about what the adult had to say and was looking very interested in Kreacher, he confirmed as such albeit confused why he would be asked such a question. ("So I won't remember anyone at all?" "Oh no deary, we just asked." "Oh. Okay then.")

So Mrs. Weasley, together with Mr. Weasley, went to the orphanage to adopt Judai. Harry didn't think they did it the legitimate way, seeing as they had no profile in the Muggle world. But at the end of the day, everyone was happy, so Harry didn't think much of it at all.

Now, if only his problem was solved as easily as that, Harry thought. Going to a Muggle area, using the memory alter spell, and voila.

Harry sighed. He hadn't slept very well recently, and having woken up at 5:30 in the morning didn't help. Or the fact that today he may have his wand snapped, and got expelled! He had been able to avoid talking about this the days before with success, but today was the day already, so Harry couldn't put this off any longer.

They had decided Judai was to go with Harry as a witness, but Harry didn't think it would help much. If the fact Judai had killed Dementors came out, it would be like they threw him under the bus instead of Harry. But Judai seemed very enthusiastic at the prospect of leaving the house and seeing more of the Magic world (it's not his neck was on the line here, not like Harry's), so Harry didn't say anything.

Except when the important day came, Judai wouldn't leave his bed because it's too early in the morning ("I have rethought it, so I won't go today after all!"). Harry, with all his pent up nervous energy, wouldn't let Judai have the satisfaction ("Oh you think you can withdraw this and leave me there alone?" "It's your hearing!" "No. It's our! Wake up!").

And so Judai, very grudgingly, went to the Ministry of Magic, together with Harry and Mr. Weasley. Well, the grudgingly part would soon be forgotten as Judai looked around and took in everything magical with stars in his eyes.

At least Harry wasn't so nervous as he was before his bickering with Judai anymore.

Except when they realised his Hearing had changed the time and the place, all his nerves kicked back in full force, and some more.

Judai was led into a room full of people after having to run for his life minutes ago.

He heard as they called to the witness, but there's no his name (they actually called for Witness for the Defence, Dumbledore), and he vaguely remembered that Mrs. Weasley told him something about him being a witness. So like the good boy he was, Judai raised his hand up.

"Me! Me more!" Judai exclaimed as he almost jumped up in his place beside Harry in excitement.

Harry closed his eyes and sighed inwardly, 'don't you ever change, Judai.'

He heard Fudge called, "And who are you, boy?"

"I'm Judai Yuuki and I'm the cute hyperactive kid that people wanted to choke in his sleep!" Judai said happily, pointing at himself. / *sorry I really like this quote* /

'Yep. Don't ever change, you little sunball.'

Many looked disgusted at Judai's introduction, but Dumbledore and some smiled gently at him.

And the questions began.

They asked Harry many questions without letting him explain anything, which made him rather infuriated. At least they looked impressed that Harry could produce a corporeal Patronus, even though he hadn't the chance to that day.

"I did it because of the Dementors!" said Harry loudly, lest they interrupted him again. Judai was nodding furiously beside him, even though the chance was, he hadn't understood a thing since they started questioning Harry.

He expected more muttering, but silence befell the courtroom.

"Dementors?" said Madam Bones after a moment, "what do you mean, boy?"

"I mean there were two Dementors down that alley and they went for me and my cousin!" he said. "And Judai, too," Harry added after a moment.

"I saw them too!" Judai chimed in. "They are really tall, and they looked like Grimreaper, but without the scythe, and they don't have eyes at all, and their mouth looked like a gaping hole, which is gross!"

The court gasped. "How do you know what Dementors look like under their hood?"

"Why wouldn't I? They did lower their hood and lean in every close. I think they were trying to eat me, which would be kind of funny now that I thought about that," he giggled to himself.

Many were green. They looked like they might vomit. Harry might, too.

"How are you not soulless, boy?"

"Oh, so that's what they were doing," Judai said, nodding to himself. Then he turned back to the court, "Actually I'm not sure, I sort of just blacked out, you see, and before that I was feeling really cold, and I kept remembering things, which made me unable to concentrate at all! I didn't even realise the Decemtor was right before me before they leaned in. Yucks!"

"So you are saying, Harry Potter cast the Patronus and successfully saved your soul before a Dementor could devour it?" asked Madam Bones.

"I don't know?" said Judai.

"Well, there's no other way for you to survive the Dementor attack," explained Madam Bones patiently.

"So Harry saved me?" asked Judai, curious.

"It would seem to be the case."

Judai turned to Harry, eyes shining. "My hero!" he exclaimed as he put his arms around Harry's waist tightly.

Listening to Judai's side of the story made Harry realise how close it had been for Judai to a fate worse than death, and each minute made Harry feel more and more nauseous.

And did he not know it had been him and not Harry who solved (killed) the Dementor? Or was Judai just a very good actor?

He knew he had just wished Judai won't ever change minutes before, but now he just wanted him to stop being so happy when talking about it. How could he act like almost being soulless as if it was something normal? Harry couldn't understand at all.

He didn't think he even wanted to understand.

As the court moved on from questioning Judai, Dumbledore brought in another witness, Mrs. Figg, even though most had already been convinced of the presence of the Dementors in Little Whinging.

Mrs. Figg stepped into the courtroom, looking very much scared and batty, and,

"You!" she exclaimed, pointing at Judai who was still hugging a very sick looking Harry. Looked like the Order had failed to inform Mrs. Figg of Judai's attendance today.

"What is it?" asked Fudge.

"No, nothing. I'm just very surprised to see him here, is all," said Mrs. Figg quickly.

"Yes, Mrs. Figg was just being surprised to see young Judai is here," said Dumbledore conversationally, "after all, she must have thought he had been kissed, given his story."

"Y-yes! I didn't know he had survived," agreed Mrs. Figg.

And then they questioned her.

In the end, Dumbledore was able to convince the court of Harry's innocence. As they filled out, Harry knew he should be overjoyed, but thoughts of the still clinging child to his robe made him sick.

And Dumbledore's abrupt departure took him by complete surprise.

When he got out of the courtroom and met up with Mr. Weasley, Harry finally calmed down.

"Dumbledore didn't say-" began Mr. Weasley.

"Clear. Of all charges," said Harry in explanation, closing the door behind him and Judai.

Mr. Weasley beamed at him and Judai. Judai beamed back, "Welp! That was fun!"

Harry didn't think anything that happened in there was fun, but he refrained from commenting so.

As they went back to the Headquarter, they came across Lucius Malfoy, who went with Fudge to their little evil meeting. Harry thought nothing good could happen from that, but his mind turned elsewhere as he stepped into the kitchen in Grimmauld Place.

"He got off! He got off!" they cheered, as Harry's giddy relieved feeling swelled inside him. Everything seemed better, even the Judai problem didn't seem that bad anymore.

But when Harry thought of Dumbledore avoiding him, his scar on his forehead burned. Only Hermione had noticed, and she looked alarmed.

"It's nothing... It happens all the time now..." Harry said to Hermione, and to reassure himself as well.

Harry turned his attention back to the feast when Judai jumped up.

"Oh! This is the perfect time for us to Duel!" he said happily.

"Duel!?" everyone exclaimed. Judai beamed.

"Yep!"

"But you don't even have a wand!" said Ron.

Judai turned to him with a look that said he thought him to be totally crazy.

Mad-Eye appeared somewhere from the house. "Heh, I'm interested."

It turned out that what Judai meant by Duel was just playing a Muggle card game. Mad-Eye had left immediately when he realised the fact.

Because none of them had any cards to play, Judai gave them his unused cards. Which was almost any card that didn't have HERO in its name. And he had lots of unused cards.

Despite Judai being the only one who knew how to play before today, Ron quickly proved to be a very capable player. In fact, at the end of the day, he had defeated all of them with his shiny winning streak.

Although Judai didn't seem to mind his defeats and he even kept complimenting Ron's strategy, Harry thought that Ron could be nicer and let Judai win sometimes too. He's just a kid!

But well, everyone was happy, Ron even took an interest in collecting his own cards, and that was all that mattered.

Author's note: I hadn't planned on making Judai so suspicious in Harry's eyes so quickly. Judai baby, why?

Harry: Judai is suspicious.

Hermione & Ron: Why?

Harry: He's too happy.

Hermione & Ron: *facepalm*
