AN: So I decided to delay the JANN series to do something else for a bit, it gets kind of old writing the same series for ages. Welcome to the world of Subnautica, a wondrous place full of cosmic horrors such as the Reaper Leviathan, Stalkers, and pain, lots of pain. I'm a huge fan of the game and nearly completed the console version, whilst holding back on the pc version until I get a better computer. Anyways, this is my first released crossover story. This chapter's going to be a bit short to introduce the story for now. I'll see you guys later!

"Warning! Warning! Evacuate immediately! Warning! Warning! Evacuate immediately!" the sirens blared. Ruby and Yang were rushing to the escape pods. The Aurora was crashing onto the surface of planet 4546B. They didn't know when they had lost each other in the crowd, but they realized the other was missing far too late, they were already in escape pods and launching out onto the surface. The pod experienced turbulence on the way down and a piece of debris hit Ruby on the head, knocking her out.

"...you dolt!" a voice rang out in the distance, "come on! You better not die on me!"

Ruby's eyes slowly opened, revealing the clean white room of the escape pod, with another person standing in front of her, shaking her by the shoulders,

"Finally! Look, something shot down the Aurora, and you aren't going to live in your sleep," the person stated,

Ruby looked at the person, they seemed to be a girl in the standard multi-environmental suit that Alterra provided for the crew and passengers of their ships, she had long white hair and crystal blue eyes.

Climbing out of the chair she was knocked out on, Ruby asked, "how long was I out for?"

"About half an hour, why?"

"Alright, not too much time lost. I'm going to take a look outside," Ruby started to climb up the ladder to one of the doors when the girl stopped her, "are you crazy!? We don't have a clue as to what's out there. We need to stay here and call for help on the radio, someone will eventually come pick us up,"

Ruby sighed, "hate to burst your bubble but the radio in most pods can only send out a pre-recorded distress call into the ether, so unless we're two of the luckiest people on the Aurora, help won't be coming for a long time,"

Alterra pre-recorded distress calls were generally treated as likely false alarms at first glance, most of the time it was just a ship that had started running low on gas, or ran out of some commodity it didn't really need to keep going. Calls were only really seen as serious if it kept going for two or more weeks, so right now, keeping herself and her podmate alive for the next little while was top priority, everything else could come second.

She didn't give herself a chance to think too hard about her situation, figuring that would only make things worse to wonder how her sister was doing, or her other friends. Worrying about whether or not other people had survived the crash would keep her from keeping the people she knew were alive staying that way. Ruby climbed up the ladder and opened the hatch to the pod, getting up and onto the roof, looking out over the planet's surface. There was mostly water, a vast ocean expanse for which there seemed to be no end, and the ship, it was nothing but a wreck, seemingly raised above the water, likely crashing on an island and leveling most of it. The sorry state of the ship led Ruby to a likely conclusion, "the drive core must be screwed beyond proper repair at this point, it's probably going to explode if it hasn't already, if Yang's still alive we may have a chance at fixing it enough to prevent the spread of radiation though,"

Just thinking about Yang threatened to bring Ruby to tears, but she held back, "I've gotta stay strong, people are relying on me,"

She blinked, keeping them at bay for the time being. Opening the hatch and hopping down, Ruby was met with the girl huddled in the corner, hugging her knees into her chest. Ruby knelt down, asking, "what's wrong?"

The girl looked up, a look of surprise plastered on her face, "I thought you would have left. Anything would be better than being stuck here with me,"

Ruby's eyes widened, "nononono, I'm not leaving you behind. I just needed to see where we landed. We're gonna get through this together okay?"

She looked up into Ruby's eyes, "alright, just don't leave me alone, please?"

Ruby pulled her into a hug, "I wasn't planning on it, what's your name?"

"Weiss."
