Percy
Percy walked off the hill and into the mortal world. Mortals were protected. They lived in a bubble. It kept them safe. Annabeth and Grover followed behind.
"Ah," Percy said. "This is going to be a breeze. Super easy. It's nothing compared to my missions in space."
They walked towards the road. They got out of the forest.
Percy fell into a hole. "Wha?" He said in confusion.
He flew up and sighed.
"Traps," He said. He motioned for Annabeth and Grover to stop. They stopped. "Uh, Alpha?" Annabeth asked.
"Yes?" Percy said, sighing.
"Why did we stop?" Grover continued.
"Traps," Percy muttered a little louder. Oh, Grover and Annabeth mouthed. They were slow in understanding.
Percy checked for more traps. None. He told them to come. The enemy was slowing them down. And they were doing it any way they could. This was a little overboard, don't you think?
They followed him up a hill. "Ah," Percy breathed. He sat down. He felt fresh air on him. It was nice to sit down after walking for a whole hour. By now, they would be near New York. Sorry, in New York. They would pass by an apartment. The apartment where his mother stayed. Well, at the same locating, but on another planet. Or... maybe... his mother was here! The Infinity did crash into the Earth. He looked back at his panting friends.
"Guys," He told them. "I know a place where we can rest. I think... otherwise, we'll camp out for the night."
Grover and Annabeth agreed with him completely.
They walked for another hour.
(A/N. Hehe... Poor Percy. He doesn't even know that his mom died! Or... he forgot... Let's see what happens. xP)
They reached his mom's place. Percy opened the door with a bang.
Percy got ready to hug his mom, but he realized something: his mom was dead as the door opened.
Shit.
Welp, at least they could stay here... right?
"Uh, I-I-," Percy said. "I expected my mom to come. She died. We can stay here, though!"
"I'm so sorry," Annabeth said.
"It's ok."
Percy smiled at Annabeth. She was stunning. Her princess curls - as Percy liked to call them - were gorgeous.
Bad Percy, Percy scolded himself.
I'm an Idiot, he thought.
"Uh, make yourself at home," Percy said. He was right and wrong.
The house was there, but his mother wasn't. She was gone. Forever.
A white flash appeared in front of him. Chaos. He said, "Hey, Alpha... I have news. My brother, Order, has joined the battle. He wants to take over me. If he controls the universe, well... it won't be good. At all."
"What?" Percy whispered. He punched the floor. He pounded it. "We are so going to lose."
"No," Chaos told Percy. "We won't. Also, I have to inform you, Alpha, your mom isn't dead."
"What?" Percy asked, flabbergasted. "How is that possible? That isn't... hey, it should be!"
Percy started rambling and saying stupid things.
Chaos sighed and said, "I can't say, Alpha, I am forbidden to. However, I can give you a clue: Gabe was working in the army. He is a monster. He was sent to kill you, Alpha. Instead, he killed your mother. He tried to kill you, but you were already gone. He will stop at nothing to kill you. It is his mission."
With that Chaos disappeared in a white flash.
It left Percy sitting there, frozen, completely frozen.
Annabeth
Annabeth was listening to Alpha and Chaos's conversation. It sounded serious.
Alpha's mom died. Sad. Annabeth liked Alpha. Why? She didn't know.
Also, who was Gabe? Who?
A thousand questions were running through Annabeth's brain. Who? What? When? How?
Who was Gabe?
What did he do to Alpha and Alpha's mom?
When did he live?
How did he do it without the police knowing about it?
Most importantly: What was Alpha's true identity?
Percy
Percy got the courage to get up. The only way for Annabeth and Grover to help him was to reveal his identity.
Follow your heart, Alpha, A voice said.
Chaos.
Yes, Alpha, Chaos said again. It is me, Chaos, but I have foreseen what shall happen if you were to reveal your identity now. Oh, more useful info: I have a dad - no mom. He has unfortunately joined the... uh, um, err, opposing army.
Chaos said the last bit in a small voice. What? Percy thought back. Why aren't you telling me this before?! Is Luke warned? Are the people at Camp warned?
Yes, Alpha, they are, Chaos assured Percy. Also, hehe, the people don't update me a lot these days, nor do my friends, family, and workers, too, for that matter. I just got the news now, just like you.
Alright, Percy sighed back. Sorry. But now I am 100% sure we are on the losing side.
No, Alpha, we aren't, Chaos said. I know it. I can't foresee it, though. Just be careful-
He was cut off by a black flash. It appeared so fast and out of thin air. It formed a sword, Percy noted. The sword stood still for a minute. Nothing moved. Not even Percy. The sword faced Percy. Its tip pointed at Percy's chest. Percy could see a face - a black one on the sword. Percy gulped as the sword plunged into his heart. He lost unconsciousness, and the last thing he heard was, "Alpha!"
Annabeth, Percy thought, before plunging into darkness.
Annabeth
When Alpha lost consciousness, Annabeth rushed forward. She caught him in her arms and told him, "Wake up Alpha,"
His hood was hanging loose. Annabeth called Grover and told him to come up. Annabeth couldn't wait to unmask him. Grover came upstairs and saw Alpha in Annabeth's palms.
"What happened?" He asked.
"Alpha fainted," Annabeth explained. "I was, um, spying on him. Anyway, a black sword plunged into his heart. I caught him. He was already unconscious."
"Ah, I see," Grover said.
"I have an idea," Annabeth grinned evilly. "Let's unmask Alpha."
"Ok," Grover shrugged.
Annabeth put her hand to Alpha's mask, she tore down his hood. Annabeth gasped when she saw his face. Sea-green eyes, jet black hair - this was Percy Jackson, her best friend. He wasn't a dream. She was correct, as usual. Annabeth wanted to kiss him right then and there, but she stopped. Why? She knew he would wake up either way - If he liked it or didn't. You see, Annabeth had a crush on Percy for ages. Heck, she had a crush on him since they were 10. When they met. She got to know Percy a lot, but he always seemed far away. It was like he didn't notice she was there. She felt something about Alpha was weird. Like she was at ease around him. After a few days, she started to like him a lot. She knew he wouldn't like her back, so she didn't admit it to anyone, except Grover. Grover helped her. She was trying hard, she was, she was. To not kiss Percy. Now it would be hard to call him Alpha. He was Percy, and she knew it. It would honestly be hard. After all, he was Percy. Suddenly, Percy started moving. He was waking up. Annabeth threw him off her and pretended to feed him Ambrosia and Nectar. She put his hood back in position. She took out a piece of Ambrosia fast, and it was exactly on time. Percy woke up, groaned, and asked, "Annabeth?" Annabeth answered him by saying, "Yes, Per-Alpha?". "Nothing," He replied.
"You okay?" Annabeth asked him.
"Yep," Percy answered, emphasizing the "P". "I'm okay."
"Good," Annabeth smiled. "Alpha?" She asked after a minute. Her expression was serious. "What's your real name?"
"Uh, I can't tell you that, sorry, Annabeth," Percy replied. He swallowed nervously.
"Oh, really, Percy?" Annabeth grinned.
Percy's eyes widened. Oh-oh. So much for not saying, "Percy,"
"Uh, I mean," Annabeth said. "Alpha?"
"How do you know?" Percy asked, completely puzzled.
"Uh," Annabeth told him everything that had happened.
"It's ok," He said after she told him, he just nodded.
Annabeth sighed with relief. Percy then continued, "Don't tell anyone, ok? Who else knows?"
"Um, I promise I won't tell anyone... but Grover knows already."
"Fine," Percy sighed. "Just... don't tell anyone else."
"Alright."
"No one should know about it - not even at Camp. I'll tell everyone when the time is right."
"Ok," Annabeth said.
"..."
"Um, well, Percy, why do you have something against Calypso? I me-mean, you always glare at her, and, um, be mean to her?" Annabeth question while stammering.
She knew very well that Percy could read her thoughts. She also knew that she sounded dumb. Huh.
Percy growled, "Well, I do, but I can't tel-yes, I do, well, it started like this: we were dating for seven years, and I loved her like hell. But she had to mess it up. She cheated on me for a long time. I don't know whom, but on that day part of me died. Something was telling me that it was ok, though. I never really liked her." Annabeth knew that the last part was a lie. It was like he was saying, "I loved her so much! how could she cheat on me?!" While sobbing hysterically. He continued, "I did like her, though. I ran away and became the commander of Chaos's army. I remained for a long time. I still am. That's the story," Percy finished. A tear ran down his cheek, but he wiped it off as fast as it appeared.
"Oh, Percy, I'm so, so, so, so, so sorry," Annabeth said, her mouth open in shock. "I didn't know."
"It's ok," Percy managed a weak smile.
"Well, what happened?" Annabeth asked Percy.
"What do you mean?" Percy asked in incertitude.
"The black sword?" Annabeth raised her eyebrow.
"Oh, yeah, that just appeared when I was talking to Chaos. I don't quite know what happened," Percy said.
"Ok," Annabeth asked, clearly suspicious.
Percy shrugged.
"Ok," Annabeth told Percy. "Let's all go to bed. We have to leave early in the morning."
"Yeah," Percy agreed.
Annabeth went back down the steps. She walked straight towards the master bedroom. The master bedroom was on the bottom floor, and Percy's room was, too. Annabeth walked into the master bedroom. She saw two doorways on either side of the walls. The house was all dark. It was creepy. Both had signs hanging on the doorknobs. The doors were painted black. Or brown. It was hard to tell. It looked like a mix of both. Anyway, one sign was labeled: Percy's room. The other was: Basement. Annabeth chose the basement. She had a plan. She would try to fix the electricity. Lights would come back on. She took a torchlight and walked down... steps. The steps creaked as she stepped on them. Yep, this place was old. Very old. More than a century, at most. Annabeth finally reached the bottom, after about two minutes. It was pitch black. She shined the torchlight towards the place and moved it here and there. In a few minutes, the lights were back on. A wire was just cut, Annabeth had to replace it - nothing much. That was easy, she thought, as she walked back up the stairs.
She smiled proudly. She had fixed it. The lights were on. She didn't even need a torch - the light was back.
She was just about to leave when her eyes fell on the door to Percy's room. She decided to sneak in. She walked into Percy's room. Once she reached, she was just staring at the room she was standing in in amazement.
Percy
When Annabeth left, Percy was a bit mad, honestly. She found out his name! His real name! Percy didn't know how she was able to remove his hood. Wait... he had forgotten to do some magic! That magic would prevent anyone from seeing his face and taking his hood off. Also, he forgot to change his appearance. Shit.
Damn, Percy, The only smart part of his brain said. You are such an idiot! Don't you know anything?!
Hey! Percy replied. I got it, this time!
Ugh, just focus.
Alright, Percy replied.
Percy scanned the room for a bed. He was again being dumb. This was the attic! Not a bedroom!
Percy sighed and waded down the steps. He walked towards his room. Well, not exactly his room. The room was his parent's room. Smelly Gabe and his mom. He remembered Chaos telling him: Alpha, your mom isn't dead.
He wondered about what Chaos had said. If she wasn't dead, where was she? No clue. Or... she could be trapped! The opposing army - Gabe, mainly - would be holding her captive. He realized something, Something he had thought of when he was still searching for Annabeth: He waited for her to come to him - a quest came his way and he found her. Waiting for his mom to come to him or going to his mom without knowing he would find her or... knowing where she was and then finding her. That was all he had. All the options. He was going to have to pick one - and he didn't like any of them. He wanted to find his mom right now. He knew that wasn't possible, though.
He shook himself out of his thoughts and walked inside his room. You see, there were two doors on either side of the walls. Each had signs hanging on the doorknobs. They were: On the first door - Percy's room; On the second door - Basement. The first door was decorated with first-class Percy's doodles of Poseidon and other Greek and Roman gods. Waves surrounded all the doodles. Percy smiled while remembering all the good memories.
He walked to the side of his mom's bed. The bed in which his mom only got oh so much space. Which was very less. Barely a few inches. Gabe slept on the rest of the bed. He got a king-sized bed for a reason. He saw a paper tucked under the mattress.
The paper said:-
To Sally Jackson,
From Paul Blowfis.
Meet me in the Aqua-man Rum.
X man, R+i+u.
Enjoy our 30-04-2020
XoXo, your friend, Paul Blowfis
Percy knew exactly what the paper said. It was written in code, so Gabe wouldn't understand. The actual note was:-
(A/N. Tell me in the reviews if you got it! Please don't lie! :) I can tell if you lie! So don't!)
To Sally Jackson,
From Paul Blowfis.
Meet me in Aquarium.
Cross out man, Add I between R and u.
Enjoy our date
XoXo, your partner, Paul Blowfis
To say Percy was shocked was an understatement. Percy's mom had been cheating on Gabe?!
The shocked expression on his face was replaced with a grin. "Sweet," He muttered. He said no words, the grin was still on his face, and he walked off crazily towards his room. He didn't even bother to clean the room or search for bugs. He went straight to bed.
Annabeth
The sight Annabeth saw was breathtaking. There was a room. A really good room. On the side of a wall was a table - not just any table, it was the exact size for a 7-year-old. It had a small cute chair tucked under the table. Surprisingly, the chair and table were still intact. The bed was, too. The walls were painted orange, but they didn't look like any shade of orange, now. She examined the bed. It looked like it was breathing. She froze. A minute later, she realized it was just Percy. He was sleeping and snoring. She found it weird that she hadn't heard the snoring earlier. She walked out of the room and the master bedroom. She reached outside and saw Grover sleeping on a couch, snoring. She smiled. She lay down on the couch, too, and began to drift into a world of endless sleep.
Time Skip (Next morning)
Annabeth
Annabeth woke up and groaned. She felt like she had just slept and woken up at the same moment, in the same posture. She sat up and saw Grover walking around the house. He seemed to be deep in thought.
"Grover?" Annabeth asked him, clearly worried.
Grover got startled. "Oh, um, sorry, Annabeth, I didn't realize you were there. It's just that..." His voice flattered.
"Yes," Annabeth said.
"Well, um, you see, Juniper doesn't trust Percy. Heck, I don't trust him, too!" Grover told Annabeth. You know Juniper, right? Ring a bell? Well, if not, then Juniper is Grover's girlfriend and a nice dryad. Oh, and yes, she is a dryad. Annabeth and her and good friends.
"It's ok, Grover," Annabeth replied coolly. "I know him! He's my best friend. Trust me. It's okay."
"Fine," Grover said. "Just... don't blame me if he starts turning on us."
"He won't, Grover," Annabeth groaned.
Grover just "Humphed" back in reply. Annabeth got up and walked very slowly to Percy's room. She went in and saw him snoring loudly. But he was still sleeping. "Percy!" Annabeth said after she managed to walk to Percy. The room was dirty, Annabeth would give it that. Percy shook in his sleep. "No, mom... a little more... school is boring, please... no," He murmured. Annabeth was taking back by this. Going to school wasn't bad. Annabeth loved it. Annabeth said, "Percy!" She remembered him saying something about school. Thus, getting even angrier. "Get up, now!" At the sound of her voice, Percy flinched in his sleep. He was scared because of Annabeth's voice.
(A/N. Yay! Till up here = 3,001 words! Hope you're enjoying it till here, dear readers! Also, check out my other stories, too! But wait, the chapter isn't done! If you think I write this short, then you're wrong! Hope you enjoy the rest! I am so happy! :))))))))) )
"Uh, Annabeth. Hey," Percy said in his best wide-awake voice.
Annabeth wasn't impressed. "Get up," She told him.
"Okay," Percy yawned. He told Annabeth to go outside while he got ready in the room. "This could be our headquarters!" He said excitedly before he shoved Annabeth out.
What was that about, Annabeth thought. Meh.
She shrugged her shoulders and walked outside the house. There, she found Grover planting trees. He blessed them and they grew immediately. Well, in a few minutes - ten minutes, at least. "Hey," She said. That seemed to take Grover by surprise. "Um, hey," He said. "I was just planting trees."
"Alright," Annabeth said, eyeing Grover suspiciously.
"... Hehe..."
"You like this house, don't you?" Annabeth said as she began to smile. Very slowly began to smile, though.
"Um," Grover said while rubbing the back of his neck. "Maybe? It's really old and there aren't any trees here. So..." He blabbered on and on. Annabeth smiled. Well, that's Grover for you. Annabeth walked towards Grover and told him to shut up. She helped him plant saplings for another few minutes. Or so she thought. After a few minutes, she told Grover she had to go. "I'll help you later," She promised. "Now I have to tell Percy to come. It's been a long time. Where is he? That guy..." She waded towards Percy's room. Her legs were completely stiff from planting saplings. She had planted at least a hundred of them. Somehow, slowly, she reached Percy's room. She knocked on the closed door. After a while, when no one answered, she yelled, "Percy? You there?" She immediately heard some shouts that went like, "Coming," and, "Yes," and also, " Ya," A minute later, the door was opened. "Took you long enough, Percy. What were you doing..." Her voice flattered as soon as she saw the room. The room was clean. And she meant clean. There wasn't any dust, like, anywhere! The room was spotless. Too spotless. No one could clean up like that. The room looked like it was just made and created right now. And that was wow. Just wow. Taking Annabeth out of her daydream, Percy smiled at her. "What, princess? Too clean?"
"Uh, nothing?" Annabeth said, but it sounded more like a question. "Princess? What does that even mean?"
"Uh, because you have golden princess curls," Percy said as he rubbed the back of his neck. That signaled that he was nervous.
"...Ok..." Annabeth said while raising her brow. "Well, as nice and clean as this room is, we need to leave. We have a quest, remember?"
"Yeah..." Percy said looking disappointed. He looked sad. Annabeth guessed anyone would be. He would have spent a long time cleaning up the room. A very long time.
Annabeth motioned for Percy to go outside while she went into the basement to switch off the power. Hey, no use wasting it, right? After she was done, she walked back up the steps and directly outside the house. She saw Percy and Grover standing outside with bags. The bags were very small, though. Oh, right, Annabeth's bag was in the house. She ran into the house and picked up her bag. She ran out again. "So, gang? We ready for the quest?" She asked them. Their reply was a simple, "Yes, Annabeth," Annabeth said, "Fine, then let's go," She marched away towards the road. They walked beside the road for a long time - an hour or so - until they saw a path leading into a thicket of trees. Annabeth told them to follow that path as she walked towards it. "But, Annie!" Percy panted. "We need rest." It was true. They looked like they needed rest. A lot of it, too. "Alright," Annabeth sighed. Even she had to admit it, she was tired. Very tired. "Just don't call me Annie," She glared at Percy. Percy gulped, but as soon as she said, "Alright," he collapsed onto the ground. So did Grover, for that matter. Annabeth had to admit: She was tired, too. She was just going on for the quest. She was also frustrated by Percy, who wasn't helping a bit. Seeing his powers (And how much he was using them (he wasn't at all)), he was utterly useless. Sorry, Percy. After a few minutes of rest, Annabeth, Percy, and Grover were walking again. Percy was still groaning about his legs painting a lot and how they might explode if they continued like this. He was just trying to get Annabeth to sit down, so he could have some rest, Annabeth figured. "Let's just walk, Perseus Jackson," Annabeth said calmly but shot a glare at him. Percy flinched at his real name but flinched again at the glare Annabeth sent him. He walked for another five minutes before saying, "Um, Annabeth? Wh-" Annabeth assumed he was saying: "Um, Annabeth? When can we get to rest?" So she cut him off, "No! Can you keep quiet? Ugh, Percy, can you just-" Percy replied by, "Annabeth, I meant: What's that?" He appointed to somewhere in the woods. It took Annabeth several minutes to see because the sun was shining too brightly. So hard to see in so much light. Finally, she saw what Percy had been pointing to. A shop. Not just any shop. A shop. Um, a shop labeled: Monster Sweets & Snacks! (Serves anywhere!) Huh, Annabeth thought. Oh, yeah! "Um, I'm so sorry, Percy," She apologized. "It's okay, Annie," Percy smirked, but his smirk was replaced by an expression of fear when he saw Annabeth's expression. "Don't. Call. Me. Annie. It's. Annabeth," Annabeth glared at Percy. Boy, was she glaring today? "Uh, I mean Annabeth," Percy corrected quickly. "Good," Annabeth said. "Now, to more important matters, what's a monster snacks show doing in the middle of the woods?" Percy corrected Annabeth, "Monster Sweets & Snacks, you mean, right?" Annabeth replied, "No." "Fine," Percy said, and Annabeth truly felt sorry for him. Firstly, he had just gone to his house - his old one. In which he lived... well, a long time ago. His mother had died (Wink, wink). Secondly, It must have brought back some memories - good and bad. Now, Annabeth was being unfair to Percy. Not unfair-unfair, just unfair. She should stop glaring. Also, do you think this paragraph is becoming too long? Cause the author wants to stop writing these long paragraphs. Nah. A little more. Back to the story, Annabeth's expression softened. "I'm sorry, Percy, now let's go back to the shop," Annabeth said. Annabeth thought for a while. What was safest - Going towards the shop defenseless, or Avoiding it? Annabeth didn't know. Wait for a second... yes! That's it! The shop was a monster shop. Meaning, there was a monster (Or more) in the shop. Annabeth had figured it out. "Ok," She said. "I have an idea. We go to the shop - but we blast it once we have proof."
"Ok," Percy shrugged as he started walking towards the shop. He held out a hand like he was going to blast it with flames and make it small bits. Too late, Annabeth realized, He was doing that.
"Whoa, Percy, no! We need proof, at least! Some, but something!" Annabeth shouted as she moved Percy's hand. Though, there was bad news: A small plant got exploded. Annabeth cursed mentally. "We don't?" Percy asked Annabeth, looking at her seriously. "Are you serious?" Annabeth replied, "Yes, Yes, I am,"
"Ok," Percy said. He muttered an apology to the plant that just died a few seconds before. "Seriously," Annabeth told Percy. "You are a Seaweed Brain."
"What?" Percy frowned.
"Because you like water," Annabeth said. "And also, you're a complete idiot. So, it makes sense."
"Huh." Percy frowned for the second time. "Then, you're a Wise Girl!"
"Seaweed Brain, that is a compliment."
"Well, It was better than the first thing that popped into my mind."
"And what was that...?"
"Owl Head."
"Yup. I agree."
"Um, you two, if you don't know we're dealing with something here," Grover said, interrupting.
"Sorry," Annabeth and Percy said in unison. After a few seconds, they blushed. Grover looked questioningly at Annabeth. Annabeth told Grover with her eyes, I'll tell you later.
"So... uh, let's go and see if a monster is running the shop?" Percy asked Annabeth and Grover who were having a silent conversation.
"Yeah," Annabeth and Grover replied.
Percy started walking towards the shop. "Huh."
"Doesn't look like much."
That was true - the shop was falling apart. There was powder around the shop - dust - it looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a long time. Annabeth examined the sides of the shop. Suddenly, a low growl came from inside the shop. Annabeth immediately stood up. "Uh?" She grunted.
"Yeah?" Percy appeared beside her.
"Mmm, nothing," She replied.
"OK," Percy said, but he didn't sound so convinced.
Percy walked away, a frown on his face, but he got excited when he saw blue flowers. Annabeth shook her head at his childish behavior. The growl came again, suddenly. This time, it was loud enough for Percy to hear. Percy turned to Annabeth's side and muttered: "Uh, Annabeth? What's that?"
"I don't know," Annabeth said, backing away.
"Uh, I'm getting out of here to find Grover!" Percy called out as he ran, leaving Annabeth to deal with the monster.
Annabeth wished Grover hadn't gone to collect fruits, and to talk to Dryads.
Suddenly, the shop started creaking. It felt that the monster was BIG.
"Uh-oh," Annabeth whispered. She pulled out her dagger. What was a dagger going to do? She cursed mentally. She held it in a position ready for war. She could see Percy and Grover running towards her - but they wouldn't make it in time. They were very far away. It would take five-ten minutes, then they would be there. She needed to STALL.
"Alright," She said, determined. She would stall, and they would come and defeat the monster or outrun it. At this moment, she even forgot about their quest. She wouldn't admit it openly, but she was scared.
Suddenly, it sprung out.
