When 13 year old demigod, Miranda, goes to her latest foster home against her wishes, she meets another boy who definitely seems to have something going on. She knows about Camp Jupiter and Camp Half-Blood but she never wants to go. But when monsters attack...she has no choice but to follow Noah to Camp for a huge, unexpected surprise. Peyton is a misfit who's in for a big shock.

Chapter 1: Miranda: My life's fine and I don't need help...unless it's with that annoying Hellhound

My name is Miranda Nova Sanibia and trust me, my life is far away from normal. If normal were earth, I'm on Pluto (the planet).

You might be thinking, your life can't be that crazy can it? Well, it is that crazy.

At first you'd notice my moms mad and I don't really know my dad and I'm stuck in foster homes. I should also mention, my dad's not your ordinary dad. He isn't the kind of guy who's going to 'take me to the movies,' 'take me to a sports game' he's definitely not going to tell me or give me anything helpful. In fact, he's actually only made things worse.

You see, he's Koalemos. Like the Koalemos.

You're probably like, "your dads a koala-who?" right now.

Anyways my life problems always seem to be caused by him. He just shows up one day with coolers full of otter pops and says, "Hey Miranda! Guess what? You're a demigod and I'm your dad, the Greek god of stupidity! Your life will basically be miserable and you'll spend most of your time running from bajillion year old monsters from my time!" Ok, so those weren't the exact words but that was the basic idea, the rest was about otter pops.

You'd think I'd be supper stupid or something, being the stupid god/spirt's kid. Nope. This here is proof enough.

I gave up explaining that kind of stuff when I was 8 and kids were just laughing like I was just a bundle of jokes wrapped up in a book of geeky greek myths.

I kept a low profile as I was forced to go from house to house despite my arguments. I was 13, I could take care of myself. Well, sort of.

I don't need a mom or dad to be happy. Life's fine just the way it is.

If I was desperate enough to ask for help, I could know there's a Greek demigod camp on Long Island and a Roman one somewhere in California. I'm not sure but I've never gone to either place and I'm not planning to. Ever.
