Welcome to Chapter 9 of my story
In this chapter, Zilku will pass three milestones and a special and sweet moment between her and her parents.
I only own Zilku and Nemka. Ronderu and Qymaen belong to George Lucas, Abel G. Peña, LucasArts and Disney.
Without further ado, please enjoy Chapter 9 of Zilku: Daughter of Grievous.
Chapter 9 – Papa!
In the next few months since the discovery of her newfound power, Zilku had either been unaware or unwilling to use it for anything more than when she wanted something but couldn't reach it. She seemed more focused on mastering other skills, like learning to crawl.
This skill, she found, was particularly easy to master by the time she was five months old but with three pairs of eyes watching her at any given time and her grandmother always stopping her before she could follow her parents outside when they went out to hunt, which meant that she could not exactly put this newfound ability to any good use.
By the time of her first birthday, however, she had to learn a new skill that would prove to be a little more difficult; walking. For a child of any species, walking was tricky to master but for a species that walked on it's toes, it was even harder.
Zilku would find an object in her home to support herself and she was able to stand for a few minutes but when she let go, her tiny legs shook a little from having to support the rest of her. Unfortunately, the minute she tried to take a few steps, her legs would buckle underneath her and she would sit back down, giving tiny growls of frustration as she tried again.
So it came as quite a surprise to her parents when, while preparing for bed one night, they left Zilku by her cradle to put out the fire in the next room and came back to find her in the doorway, hidden only by the karabbac pelt that separated the two rooms. Qymaen thought for a moment, then picked his daughter up and put her back where she was, retreating to Ronderu's side to see what their child would do next.
The child gave a small squeak in protest at her father's actions then walked steadily to the doorway. "Very impressive, child. Well done." Qymaen said proudly, "Now, let's all retire for the night before you can surprise Mama and Papa any further."
Little did he know, Zilku had one more surprise up her little sleeve before she was ready to sleep. Looking up at her father with an equally proud look on her face, Zilku gave a small smile and yelled "Papa!" Both Qymaen and Ronderu stood there for a moment, taken aback by what their daughter had just done./p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;""What was that, Zilku?" Ronderu asked, trying to get her to speak again. "Papa!" Zilku repeated happily, completely oblivious to what her parents were so excited about. Remaining as calm as he could and trying not to be smug that he was her first word, Qymaen cleared his throat and stated "As I said, we should all retire for the night."
After Zilku had been changed into her nightclothes and was put in her cradle to sleep, Ronderu and Qymaen got into bed. As they pulled the mumuu blanket over themselves, Ronderu said in a determined voice "You may have been her first word but I still think she will be a swordsmaster." Qymaen gave a small chuckle and replied "Only time will tell. Who knows? She may wield an outland rifle or a Shoni spear or maybe all three."
Ronderu thought for a minute before giving a small shrug, saying "Perhaps. Goodnight." and turning over, falling asleep within seconds. Qymaen simply sighed and said "Goodnight to you as well, my Dreamt One." before falling asleep as well.
Aww, wasn't that just adorable?
Sadly, this is where Zilku leaves her infancy behind as there will be a three year skip in the next chapter.
As always, Ronderu and Qymaen don't belong to me. Only Nemka and Zilku belong to me.
I hope you have enjoyed this chapter and I hope to post the next chapter as soon as possible.
