Welcome to Chapter 11 of my story.

In this chapter, Zilku asks Nemka a peculiar question and we learn what counts as a bedtime story on Kalee.

As always, I only own Zilku and Nemka. Ronderu and Qymaen belong to George Lucas, Abel G. Peña, Disney and LucasArts.

Without further ado, please enjoy Chapter 11 of Zilku: Daughter of Grievous.

Chapter 11 – The gods

Over the next few weeks, Zilku continued to train under her mother's tutelage and she quickly improved. By the end of her first month of training, she knew every basic swipe and stab that most kamens in the Kolkpravis knew and was now learning how to exploit her enemies' weaknesses.

While her parents never allowed her to participate in any of the battles, she was told of every victory her parents achieved when they returned from another battle with the Huks. Zilku loved hearing her parents' successes in battle before she rested every night.

This particular night, her parents were telling her about a battle at Shrupak, the holiest of Kalee's temples, which many considered to be a bold move by the Huks and left Qymaen, in particular, feeling that the wretched insectoids knew that they were losing the war. Zilku had heard him saying that they had probably attacked the temple in a desperate effort to gain an advantage.

The child lay in her bed, her small hands clutching her blanket below her chin as her mother was concluding her story of the battle. "...and just as one of those soulless bugs was heading towards the entrance of the temple, your father took aim at that Huk and fired, killing it with one single shot. The rest of their army fled like the cowards they were. That is how the fierce warriors of Kalee gained another victory against those enslaving scum." Ronderu said triumphantly.

Zilku sat up a little and excitedly asked her mother "Do you think I could fight the Huks one day, Mama?" Ronderu sighed and calmly replied "Maybe one day, when you're older. For now, you are far too young to face such hideous creatures." Nemka soon entered the room and said "That's enough stories for tonight. The child will need her sleep if she is to be well enough to learn anything tomorrow."

Zilku was about to protest but her father stepped in and said "Your grandmother's right, Zilku. A warrior must be fully rested if they are to be competent in battle." Zilku reluctantly lay back down and pulled the covers over her shoulders. Her mother and father both kissed their daughter on the forehead and bid her goodnight before leaving the room.

Nemka was about to do the same when her granddaughter asked her a very peculiar question. "Grandmama?" Zilku began, unsure how to ask her question. "Yes, child?" Nemka asked, noticing her granddaughter's uncertainty. "It's alright, Zilku, you may ask your question. Do not be afraid." She assured the child encouragingly.

Taking a deep breath, Zilku asked "Why do the temples have so many gods? Is it so all of our ancestors had a god to take care of them when they died?" Nemka looked at her granddaughter a little perplexed and said "My dear granddaughter, our ancestors are the gods. All Kaleesh become gods when they die."

Zilku thought for a moment and then asked "Did Mama's tribe become gods?" "Yes, child, and so did Papa's father." replied Nemka. "Thank you, Grandmama." said Zilku, happy with the answer her grandmother had given her.

"It's alright, child." Nemka assured her, "Now rest or you will be no good with a sword." Zilku smiled and simply said "Okay. Goodnight, Grandmama." Nemka also smiled and replied "Goodnight, Zilku. Sleep well." With that she left the room. Zilku yawned slightly then turned over and soon fell fast asleep.

What a sweet little moment between grandmother and granddaughter. What's next for little Zilku?

As stated above, I only own Zilku and Nemka. I do not own Qymaen and Ronderu.

I hope you enjoyed this chapter and I hope to have the next chapter posted as soon as possible.
