Potter Manor

2015,

When they were younger, Harry and Ginny prided themselves on being social and approachable beings. They attended every gala, every party that the Ministry held, talked to the who's who of every industry etc. But lately, neither of them felt particularly social. Most of the time, they just felt like collapsing into bed and taking five years worth of naps, but that was not to be the case when you had James as your child. So when they got home from the ball the night that our story began, they were tired out of their minds and assumed their children were asleep and as a result crashed as soon as their heads hit the pillows.

Probably why they didn't hear the huge ruckus that the then soon-to-be time travellers had made.

The next morning dawned bright and sunny with the loud exclamations of Harry James Potter.

"GINNY! GINNY! COME HERE QUICK!"

Ginny awoke with a start and ran up to the study where the screams were coming from. Harry was usually a pretty calm man, even when it came to discipling their kids, Ginny was the one doing most of the shouting while Harry was the calm and rational one. There was nothing that she could think of that would make him yell like that and in such a-

She sucked in a breath as she walked inside the door, and came face to face with the aftermath of a ruckus with Harry kneeling in the midst of the wreckage.

"Merlin's saggy pants," she cursed and gingerly stepped through, avoiding the broken bits of glass and sand.

"My sentiments exactly." remarked Harry drily as he picked up a golden shard, examining it closely.

"What was it?" she asked, peering over his shoulder to look at it.

"It was a Time Turner. A prototype. For a Time Turner that could travel through years and not hours. It was extremely faulty and quite unpredictable which was why it was given to me to safeguard." said Harry surveying the room, to see if it anything else was broken.

"James must've come here." Ginny said angrily before striding to James's room and banging on the door, Harry in her wake.

"JAMES SIRIUS POTTER YOU OPEN THIS DOOR RIGHT NOW! DID YOU GO INTO YOUR FATHER'S STUDY?"

No answer.

"James?" said Harry in a reasonable manner, "we're just asking you a simple question. I won't be angry, I promise." ("I WILL!" shouted Ginny.) "Just open the door."

"Oh for Merlin's sake, I'm coming in." Ginny tried the door and it slowly creaked open. They stepped in to find a very messy room, with Quidditch posters all over the walls, dirty clothes dumped on a chair, a bed that had clearly not been slept in the previous night and no James.

"Harry," said Ginny, feeling a bubble of panic rise up, "go check Albus and Lily's room. I'll go check Teddy's. I have a really bad feeling about this."

Harry did as he was told and with sickening dread told his wife the horrible news- Lily and Albus weren't in their rooms either.

Ginny had had no success with Teddy's room either.

Harry and Ginny met in the hallway that led to the bedrooms, two white faces of sheer panic as they refused to believe the obvious.

"Ginny, I think they've travelled through time."

Ginny sat on the sofa in the living room with her knees pressed to her chest as she tried to process the fact that her children might be lost in a another time entirely. Next to her sat Harry with his head in his hands, looking as miserable as she felt. He'd mussed up his hair so many times that it was now twice as messy as usual and was now standing up in all directions, giving him a most comical look. There was nothing comical about this though. All she wanted to do was to put her head on Harry's shoulder and cry for her missing children. But that wasn't the need of the hour right now. What was needed to be done was to find their time travelling children and then kill them for going gallivanting about time in the first place.

She sighed as she watched Hermione examine the remains of the Time Turner closely. They'd called Hermione and Ron to help them out and they'd come immediately. Ron was back at the Weasley-Granger house fetching the books on time travel that Hermione had told him to get. Hermione had said that since it was a prototype and therefore unstable they would be able to know what time they had gone to based on the magicality of the sand. And to judge that, she needed her books.

"Here are the books Hermione," said Ron climbing out of the fireplace where he'd just Flooed from. He was clutching three books to his chest which he then gave to Hermione who promptly began to thumb through them.

"Do you think...do you think we'd be able to get our children back Hermione?" asked Harry hoarsely, lifting his head weakly from his hands. "I just want them back, safe and sound."

"They will be." reassured Ginny in a soothing voice. "Look at me," she said turning his head towards her, "our children will be back before you know it, and then we'd be wishing they'd be gone again." Harry gave a watery smile at that. "I just wish I'd never gotten that stupid thing home. I KNOW how James can be but yet I brought it back home and now-" he turned away from her, too overcome with emotion to speak.

"Don't you dare blame this on yourself Harry, it's James we should be blaming. And I will be letting him know of this when he gets home. How dare he go into that study after I've told him a million times not to step foot in it!" she finished fiercely.

"Well you'd better get your lecture planned Gin, because Hermione's figured out when they are." said Ron, grinning as he looked over his wife's shoulder. Hermione had been quietly working on the sand with the books Ron had got from her and was beaming at them from the chair where she sat.

"It's 1995."

A/N- Hey y'all. What's crackalackin'? Are y'all still here? Or have y'all gone away in a huff because MAN it's been way too long since I uploaded last on this story. I'm very sorry for the delay. I have had a LOT of shit go down since the last time I uploaded and I didn't want anything to do with this story.

Anyway, I'm back now and I promise to be more regular with updates. This story should be over pretty soon. We may have just two or three chapters more and I WILL see this story to its end. Also I WILL be explaining more of the 'magicality of the sand' in the next chapter so stay tuned:)

I also have a completed story called Teddy and Emily which is about Teddy Lupin and his love interest, Emily Wood (an OC) Please do check it out! It's on my profile and it's pretty short and honestly speaking? I like that story better than this one:)

Anyway I hope y'all are staying safe and healthy. Hope y'all have a great day/night ahead:)

Peace!
