Warfarin drinks water from a plastic bottle she found, and then the white-haired Sarkaz turned around to face a broken window to peer through. She and Blackjack are stopping in an abandoned building that's just a couple miles away from the Iron Plaza. Behind the vampire is Blackjack scavenging an apartment building for some food, drinks, and medicine. The male Sarkaz finished and he walked up to Warfarin. "Okay, this place was looted already. It's only a few paces from here anyway. Let's go," Blackjack says. While walking down the stairs, the white vampire wants to know a little bit more about her peer. After three steps down the next set of stairs, the vampire questions, "Blackjack, I get you're acting strong and brave and all of that stuff, but a couple times you didn't act like a real Ursus soldier. You basically fought more like a mercenary. Who even taught you that stuff?" The latter stops. Blackjack looks at the former and answers, "Oh, that. I was actually trained by someone else though, not the military. But I did enlist for both glory and the paycheck." Warfarin then also asks him, "Then do you actually hate Reunion or is this just part of your job?" "Well, sort of. I do have my own justifications for why I don't care about the Infected, but you probably don't need to hear them," Blackjack talks back just as he continues walking downstairs. "But what about Ursus though? You've the news surrounding their cruel treatment of those people?" The vampire then asks as she continues following the former. "Oh, that. I will admit those are real, but they're just orders honestly. How will civilization thrive if nobody is alive? Anyways, we're almost there," Blackjack then says just as they both stand in front of a metal door.
Using his free left hand, the mercenary Sarkaz opens the door, moves through a hole in a broken fence, and witnesses the carnage that's been going on ever since the breakout. The sky has turned daro, smoke rises from fire and ash, debris falls from a burning building in the distance, and Catastrophes throwing their wrath towards the people below them. The screams of a male person echoes nearby however. "Hold on Warfarin. I heard somebody," Blackjack tells the white vampire. "What?" Warfarin asks while she squeezes through the hole. "What did you just say?" She asks again. "Over here! We found a couple stragglers," a red Reunion crossbowman shouted from above as he spotted them. "Run," Blackjack tells Warfarin as he pulls out his pistol, shoots one of the crossbowmen on the forehead, and starts running. The vampire lady also runs as the other Reunion soldier pursues them. They all ran for two minutes, a little bit of sweat falling on Warfarin's face. Blackjack slows down a bit, letting the vampire run past him. That's because the Ursus Sarkaz then kicks a garbage bin down and picks up momentum. The Reunion crossbowman however trips and falls down due to an old banana peel. Soon, he could only see their shadows on the buildings on the left.
Having fended off that guy, Blackjack and Warfarin have made it to the Iron Plaza. They could see some of the last Ursus transport helicopters with civilians boarding them and soldiers standing on guard, pointing their halberds and bows from behind sandbags towards all sides. Blackjack turns his head to Warfarin and says to her, "Well, this is time to say goodbye. You said the Rhodes Island evac is somewhere around here, right?" As the vampire nods, Blackjack looks back at the helis and starts walking over to them. Until a white left hand grabs his right shoulder. The soldier looks behind him to Warfarin's face. "Blackjack," the vampire says. "Thank you," Warfarin then finishes before letting go and walking away to meet up with the rest of her team. As for Blackjack, he moved onwards to the helicopters until one of them was struck down by Originium arts. "Get down!" A Ursus soldier yells just before he gets killed by a steel-tipped bolt.
As civilians screamed and scrambled for safety, Blackjack started running to the other soldiers. The ground explodes in front of him, but Blackjack dodged it and continued forward. He grabs his assault rifle and sprints valiantly until another Ursus soldier sees him. The soldier is a feline with grey hair, cat ears, and a spotted tail. He wears a light Ursus uniform, ski goggles, and uses a shotgun-revolver hybrid. He stands up after firing the shotgun revolver at an Infected and shouts, "Blackjack, over here. It's me, Koshka!" A Reunion caster tries to throw Arts at Blackjack. But the latter slides right into cover with Koshka. "My friend, I thought you died out there. I was worried you wouldn't make it," The cat soldier exclaims happily for the survival of his comrade. "Well yeah. This is the last evacuation site for us, the military and the people of Chernobog," Blackjack then says. "We've lost the city for now. But soon in the future, we're going to make these rebels pay for the damage. So we're regrouping at the nearest Ursus city," Koshka then informs his friend. "Yeah, we definitely need to. This is our home, our fight. We will be able to do it Koshka. We are," Blackjack replies with a somewhat comfortable tone. "But we also have intelligence that people are breaking into the nearby city of Lungmen as well. And it seems like Yen wants to claim this territory for their own. And therefore, it seems more like we're focusing on them than this," Koshka then says dismally. "Wait, what-" Blackjack begins to question until a third Ursus soldier crouches over to the two and shouts, "We need to get moving!" And then, a molotov lands on that soldier and burns him as he starts wailing in pain. "Shit! We're under attack," Koshka says as he tries to save the burning man. Blackjack ducks right back into cover as he lays the handguard and barrel of his assault rifle on the sandbags and starts blind firing in full auto.
Enemies poured from nearly every direction, but many are quickly slain as the last soldiers in Chernobog were deployed to defend the last evac. "I'm out of ammo for this bad boy," Blackjack says after firing the last round for his assault rifle and switching to his sidearm. Koshka aims down his hybrid weapon and pulls the trigger. A powerful shot ejects from the barrel and drenches a red Reunion soldier in his own blood. Koshka presses the cylinder release button and ejects all the shells. He inserts new shells, slaps the cylinder into the rifle, and attaches a bayonet onto the lug of his weapon. A Ursus soldier gets stabbed in the leg and then three times in the chest by a rebel. Koshka vaults over the sandbags and rushes to recover him. "C'mon Blackjack, we have to recover that body!" The feline then yells to Blackjack to follow. After ducking and changing pistol mags, Blackjack yelled, "What are you doing?!" Just as the Koshka foolishly goes on to rescue his comrade, a red caster squad leader points with his right hand and uses explosive Arts to disperse them both. The explosion knocks Koshka out, which prompts Blackjack to aim his sidearm to the castee and fire five times, the shots landing from the chest up to the lower head. The caster dies painfully while Blackjack goes to protect the two from the infected rebels. "You're gonna be alright Koshka. Most of your wounds aren't too serious," Blackjack says to Koshka specifically once he did get to them. The Sarkaz checks his handgun's ammo. 4 rounds left in the mag and none in reserve. He puts the mag back just in time. A wave of a bunch of rioters, crossbowmen, and a mortar crew arrived to finish the job. The first couple rioters moved forward, but one of them was taken out by a Ursus archer. "Thanks for the assistance," Blackjack compliments his ally as the former kills the second with two bullets. A mortar shell was fired and then fell almost near Koshka. "Crap, we're getting out of here," Blackjack says panicky as he carries Koshka on his back and retreats back to the last helicopter.
When they both got there along with the archer. "You've made it, now get in. There's medical at the nearby city," another soldier says as he helps them all get on the chopper. Koshka was placed onto a seat by Blackjack, who was going to sit next to him until a masked guerilla gets on-board and is about to kill the pilots. "We got an enemy on boar-'' a soldier yelled until his throat was sliced from behind. Blackjack quickly grabs the guerilla and shoves both himself and the infiltrator out of the helicopter. As Blackjack bashes the guy to death, the helicopter had no choice but to abandon the Sarkaz to save everyone else within the vehicle. But Blackjack heard the aircraft fly away and ran to catch up with it. "Noooooo, why are you leaving me here?! Don't let me rot in this hellhole!" Blackjack yells, but his words weren't heard by anyone except for the Reunion soldiers behind him. They've cornered him on a cliff, and then an archer fires an armor-piercing originium arrow right to the right of Blackjack's chest. Blackjack screams in agony as he's about to fall to his death. And yet he grabs onto a broken traffic sign and swings his way right into a large metal sheet. He loses his grip and plummets into a pile of garbage. His left forearm is bleeding due to sharp shrapnel, the arrow pushed deeper through his armor, and blood spilling from his mouth. Blackjack is now possibly dead, or really he's somehow still alive. He crawls his way out, gets himself back up slowly, and pulls out the shrapnel and the arrow. The armored Sarkaz winches in severe pain every time he moves, seems to have lost his two firearms, and is now in a very vulnerable state. But, he gets approached by a familiar face. "Doctor, I found someone," a female voice says as the person talking is none other than Warfarin. She gasps as she witnesses the same person who escorted her as a broken and bleeding soul just like when she first met him. "Hey, this is the same guy that was with me," the vampire exclaims as another person walks over. A mysteriously masked individual wearing a heavy blue coat, a white doctor's clothes, and a black visor that masks this person's facial features. "This...this person is from Rhodes Island, I presume?" Blackjack asks weakly. He then coughs and the vampire wraps his left arm around the back of her neck. "We should take this person with us. It's obvious the army isn't coming back for him now," Warfarin tells the Doctor, hoping to get permission. Instead, they just walked away. "Yeah, you're coming with us Blackjack," Warfarin then just says. "Warfarin….we….we have to go back there," Blackjack tries to say before he loses consciousness. As he was taken to Rhodes Island for medical treatment and as the sun sets over the ashes, the fate of civilization lies within Rhodes Island's path to finding the cure to the disease that led to this. And Blackjack is a part of that same path all along.
