On the fourth day since the attack on Chernobog, the base of Rhodes Island is almost near Lungmen, a very influential city in the history of Yen, the neighboring country of Ursus. The Lungmen Guard Department (or LGD for short) are talking with Kal'tsit, the leader of Rhodes Island's medical department, to let the pharmaceutical company stay over and help defend the city from any Reunion members. It seems these talks have been going on for days, shortly after the crisis has begun. Meanwhile, Blackjack is heading over to the command center because of news that the Doctor has recovered from that day.
The main doors slide open as Blackjack walks through the doorway, the Sarkaz approaches the Doctor, the Cactus Amiya, and the Perro Dobermann. "Ah, you're up as well Doc," Blackjack says as the doors then close behind him automatically. The Command Center has several windows in which every one of them shows the outside very clearly. There's also several consoles, monitors, tv screens, and many other kinds of electronics layed out neatly on the high ground. There's also a catwalk which branches out through the middle in a straight line to the front windows. "Blackjack was trained with discipline and professionalism pretty well in Ursus from what I've seen from him yesterday. Just to make sure you're still able to command efficiently Doctor, you're going to head to the simulation room where operators Fang, Hibiscus, Durian, and Orchid are awaiting you. As for you Blackjack, you can have the day off. But until the major events that have occurred been resolved, this is the only day I'm letting you rest. And by resting I mean you're still going to train for one hour. Dismissed," Dobermann issues orders to both Blackjack and Doctor. "Doctor, we're still glad that you made it here safely. We have lost lives trying to bring you back home, but with you back on our side they will be remembered," Amiya cheerfully comforts the Doc while Blackjack proceeds to do what he was told to. "Oh. Blackjack wait," the rabbit girl immediately says after noticing the other operator about to withdraw from the scene. "Yeah, I know. I did you guys a favor once. You just have to let me commence terror and it'll count as payment," the masked Sarkaz then says.
Meanwhile on the other side at the medical department, Warfarin scours her own office for medical items and quickly puts them in a backpack. The vampiric medic then finds a box of blood packets that she wants to gift to Blackjack. She puts on her detached sleevs and jacket, and zips up the backpack the pale-skinned girl then wears. Before Warfarin steps out into the white hallway, she looks over to a picture frame stacked up against a row of books, the picture that contains her and some anthropomorphic feline person. "Hopefully we'll bump into each other and get into our old wacky conversations from last time," the vampire says before opening her doors to reveal Blackjack. As Blackjack is about ten centimeters taller than the medic, Warfarin adjusted her head to look up. "Yesterday, you told me to meet you to take something. Here I am now. So what's in store for me this time Warfarin?" Blackjack asks the vampire. "Oh, yeah. Ever since last time, I have managed to improve our blood bags so now they should be of greater use now," the white woman then says as she points to a white case, branded with the Rhodes Islans Blood Bank logo. "Ah, I see. Thanks," the operator Blackjack says as he walks over to open the case. In it, eight plastic medium-sized blood bags in two rows ready to use on the field. As Blackjack feels one of the cold bags, he looks over to a certain book, written by one "David Tomslay." Before he turns around to ask questions, Warfarin then tells him, "I will take half a row of the bags while you take the other half to Sussurro. And you'll keep the rest." "Okay then. Also, I see you too are a fan of this guy David." Blackjack acknowledged. The vampire lady stuffs half of the bags into her backpack before then saying, "Yeah, I did some of my own research based on his. He did used to come to Rhodes Island and speak directly with the Doctor a couple times. But he's never been seen for 266 days now ever since he announced his venture beyond the Ægir Sea. So, there's been nothing new after his disappearance." Blackjack nodded silently before remembering what happened here last time, so he quickly asked Warfarin, "Speaking of Doc, why'd you want our blood in the first place?" Suddenly, the female Sarkaz ran so quickly to Blackjack, grabbed his grey scarf and asked, "Blood? The blood? I actually don't really know. I tasted everyone else's blood and I kind of like the nice variations in-between them, but now I want to know if you knew about the Doctor in the past." The tall Sarkaz's two hands gently covered Warfarin's and made her let go. "I never met him at all. But I should get going," Blackjack then says before grabbing the white crate and going elsewhere. "I really wonder about you two," Warfarin says to herself.
The rest of Chernbog's garrison have retreated to the nearest city of Barka, the civilians that evacuated with them wandering amongst the city. The Chernobog officers are ordering their soldiers to prepare to retake their city while Koshka talks to a high-ranking Ursus officer in a private room in the Barka Command Center. "So you're saying this Blackjack may still be alive and be the key to retaking the city?" the commander asks to the feline. "Da. I seen this man win battles by himself. But we lost him during the evacuation. However, I assure you he knows what he's doing and therefore he may have survived one way or another," Koshka affirmatively speaks. "Due to the numerous displaced people in Lungmen city, Blackjack may have headed right there. I request your permission for me to take a squad to bring him back here," the guy with the cat ears then says. After having some thoughts for a second, the officer then proceeded to tell Koshka, "Permission granted. You bring him back here alive before the rebels destroy more of our people's land. You'll be granted more trophies and a higher rank if this mission of yours is a success. And I expect it to be a success." Koshka was then excused to leave, and the first person he wants to recruit is that Liberi archer. After three minutes of walking around the place, the grey feline finally finds the latter waiting for his bow to be finished after a couple modifications. The archer crossing both arms together peers over to Koshka and recognizes him. "Ah, I remember you from last time. A shame we didn't get that other guy unfortunately," he says within a lukewarm tone. "But we will get him today or tomorrow. Anyways, introductions first. I'm Koshka and you are..?" the cat person then says while raising his right glove, expecting a handshake. "Arkadi Schrenck, but you may call me Willows," the Liberi announced his name as he shook hands and understood what Koshka meant. "Just let me wait for my weapon to be finished and we'll get the rest of this crew of yours."
The tall skyscrapers that exist in downtown Lungmen are in view of much of Rhodes Island. Nearly just one hour away, everyone on board gaze at the bright lights that are emitting from there. Blackjack was heading up the deck when he notices the Doctor, standing by himself. There's really nobody else nearby. Just these two men. But the Doctor, who is still wearing his mask and overcoat, is just standing at the top of the stairs. "What do you want Doc? Why are you here?" Blackjack asks, trying to get the former's attention. Then, the Doctor turns his head down. After just a few seconds, he then immediately turns around and leaves. "Oh come on, you just held ourselves back," the Sarkaz shouted back. "Does he know about us?" a quiet but deep voice within Blackjack asks anxiously. "Oh, you came back to check on me?" the subconscious of the tall Blackjack retorted. "Well of course, but remember this; you're a deserter. And since you may have Ursus on your tail, you wouldn't want Rhodes Island to notice the same too. Plan out your methods quickly. I'm dying right here," the other voice commanded before it goes away. "I hope you understand this.." Blackjack says as if he's talking to the Doctor.
10:14 PM. Rhodes Island docks itself at District 5, as they were told to. The night is clear today, with little to no clouds high in the sky. "No signs of suspicious activity; move up Doc," Blackjack reports after witnessing nothing out of the ordinary. The rest of the team the Doctor and Amiya chose walks past a line of people while a armored Lungmen Guard talks with a blue-haired horned woman with a blue dragon tail. "Ch'en sir, they're here," the guard then says, pointing at the man with the overcoat and the rabbit girl. "You told us to meet you here at 10 PM. It is now officially 10:14; therefore you have effectively wasted 14 minutes of my time," the woman known as Ch'en says. "She's kind of.. strict," Amiya whispers to Blackjack. "Eh, I've met these kind of people in the past. When you're a soldier, you have to put up with these attitudes," the Sarkaz whispers back. "Let me go dammit!" A civilian cries out as he tries to shove a Lungmen officer away from him. "Sir, we got a situation over here; two civies are resisting. Need permission to use force if necessary, over," Another officer speaks to Ch'en over the walkie-talkie. "I'll send some people to your location, over," Ch'en replies before directing some people to go do it. "I'll have this guy give some work to the rest of you operators. Amiya and Doctor, come with me inside. I'll have you two meet with someone," the dragonwoman says as she walks into the doors of a grand building. "You all heard her," the Lungmen guard says as he grabs the attention of all the other operators including Blackjack and gives them all small radio devices. "We need all of you to look out for any suspicious activity as we disperse this crowd. Stay vigilant at all times," the guard finishes saying. While the other operators walks around, assisting the other guards, Blackjack walks towards near the end of the line. One of the people in it is actually Koshka, donning a light brown trenchcoat, a fedora in a darker shade of brown, and a steel briefcase. Having been tasked with bringing back one of his friends, Koshka kicks a nearby tin can to his right as the Sarkaz comes nearby. The latter looks down once the can makes impact, gently touching his left foot, and then he looks right into the people's faces. "Which one of you does this belong to?" Blackjack demands as he picks up the object and shows it to them. As Koshka tips his fedora a bit before stepping up and taking it, the runaway soldier recognizes him. "You..you.." But before he can say it, the feline shushs Blackjack and runs away. Grabbing his assigned radio, the Sarkaz operator informs all the others, "I got somebody trying to run away. I think he's infected. I'm giving chase, over." "Copy that. Try to catch him if possible, over," a male voice from another Lungmen guard responds back. Both Blackjack and Koshka dashed throughout tight alleyways before the latter in the fedora and the trenchcoat climbs up the ladder of a concrete building. "Koshka, get back here," the former shouts before climbing up as well. Once the Sarkaz deserter gets up and starts gaining momentum, he notices a net being thrown at him, which he dodges. "Dammit, a trap," he scoffed to himself before he starts moving slowly due to the presence of somebody using arts. A female Ursus caster, with blonde hair, orange eyes, and a pair of fuzzy bear ears, wields a lightweight staff which helps her slow down her targets. "Caught you Mr. Blackjack," she says in a slight Ursus accent. The leather dress that she wears flows as the female figure walks forward slowly. And then, a guy with a dirt brown lizard tail, a dark green cloak, black shorts, and two knives emerges from behind. The heavy boots which he wears makes a thumping sound each time he moves as Koshka and Willows join up. "We're finally back together comrade," the cat guy says as he opens up his briefcase to reveal an SMG with a retracted stock and a suppressor within the barrel. "I see you got yourself a new squad. I guess you're now a part of Ursus special forces. But maybe you should stop calling me comrade now," Blackjack said firstly as a compliment and then as a warning to his former brother in arms. "I mean, we still are technically. We're just taking you back home," Koshka says up while not dampening the mood of this sudden reunion. "You make one more move, I can break you leg since your movement is debuffed in Snowstorm's Arts," Willows speaks up while he readies his fresh custom bow while Koshka unpacks the SMG. "We could stay here for days Blackjack, but the atmosphere and our orders here says otherwise. We need you as well as the opinions of the city of Lungmen," the lizardman says. "Wait, Chernobog has fallen four days ago and you guys are thinking of attacking Lungmen?" The former asks impatiently and is questioning the logic of his country. "What? No, no. Lungmen isn't our target per say. It's just that we were asked by the Commissar of Barka to see if they want our city. Otherwise, there will be no war, I can guarantee that," Koshka denies the question.
"Did somebody say war?" a gruff voice says as a Reunion soldier kicks open the door and guys with machetes, shields, crossbows, and other makeshift weapons surround the five. But the voice came from an oversized giant, that's two feet taller than the average Reunion member. He's so big the door ends up breaking apart as he gets up. The man grips onto a large club, with nails poking out of it, and barbed wire that surrounds it. "So you're all from Ursus right? And you rather not attack us or Lungmen at all? I thought you scumbags would be delighted to do so," the masked leader says. "We're not here for you, only this guy," Koshka says as he points his suppressed submachine gun at the tall Reunion guy's head. "It doesn't matter. You're all associates of the ones who caused us pain for centuries. We don't care, as long as all of those who don't suffer like us die a meaningless death like they're supposed to," the giant says as he then laughs, making the rest of the Reunion members laugh as well. "I don't get it," the lizard-tail operative says. "Well, you guys are going to die a meaningless one too. Guess who can fix your wounds? Rhodes Island so far is the closest one to actually doing something about Oripathy," Blackjack speaked loudly. "But they betrayed us, their own brothers and sisters. Do you seriously think that faceless doctor, that meek donkey, and their entire posse is going to help us regardless?" the leader states right before laughing just as hearty as before. "Now let's crush you all. Archers, fire!" the brute then says, ordering the crossbowmen to ready and fire. "Alright, y'all asked for it," Blackjack yelled out before revealing that while the lizardman has actually turned around the enemies that were around them and the caster stopped using her arts, the Sarkaz took the intuitive to pull out a flashbang that was loaned to him by a Logistics operator earlier today. He had already pulled the pin off so he shut his eyes as everybody else got blinded. While two soldiers with machetes crouch next to a air vent, Blackjack opened his eyes and rushed to kick one of them off the building. He then takes out his knife and brutally stabs the other in the neck three times before taking his machete. Koshk recovered his eyesight and being laying bullets right into the tangoes in front of him. The beast with the big club charges forward only to swing and miss while Willows dodges and fires an arrow that embeds itself into the flesh of the Reunion leader. His shout can be heard as Snowstorm casts an Art that pushes off several baddies off the building as Blackjack slide kicks a crossbowman and even chops off the leg of another. Black blood squirts right onto the floor and the outside of a vent as the Reunion crossbowman cries out in pain. Willows slides right behind another vent and as he peaks above him, he calls out to his squad leader, "Koshka, that big guy is fighting like a logger so..yeah, let's call him a logger. So the logger's back is exposed once his club gets like stuck onto the floor. Can you get Nightwatch to notice that weakspot?" The feline nods and silently relays the message to Nightwatch the lizardman, who casts his own arts to sneak up onto the logger. "Where are you puny, glorified, war criminals, huh?!" The logger berets right before Nightwatch gets onto the back and says, "Suprise, surprise," Then, the lizard uncamoflauges himself before piercing both knvies right into the back. And as he jumps down, the cut wounds gets longer and deeper. The logger screams as he gets down on his knees and then Koshka gets over to him, grabs one of the knives, and stabs the back of the neck twice. "He's dead," Koshka shouts as any remaining Reunion members noticed their leader's death and escaped the scene. Snowstorm prepares to cast another Art, but her enemies fled the scene rather than staying to see what happens next. A dog barks in the distance as a car alarm goes off. "There, the enemies are...hold on. Where's Blackjack?" Koshka was saying right before he noticed something was off. "This entire fight just felt more like a shitshow, and a diversion from the fact we just failed to capture our HVT," Snowstorm says she stomps her right foot. "Hey, don't be a pessimist. He knows he can't escape us forever, even though there's an entire pharmaceutical company that stands between us," Willows says before walking over to the staircase. "Come on," Koshka says while he reloads his SMG, puts it in the briefcase, locks it, and also leaves as well.
Blackjack is carrying a juicebox he bought from a vending machine before noticing a dirty, thirsty Infected child sitting in the dark and looking down at some dirty water. Feeling a bit shameful ever since he switched factions, the Sarkaz decides to get to know the Infected a lot more firstly by doing an act of kindness. If that's even such a thing in this world though. He walks over to the kid and strikes up an introduction with, "You need something to drink?" The kid looks up to the man and had a sense of fear drilled into his mind. "What will this man do," he wondered. "What's he thinking about?" Blackjack thought to himself before putting down the juicebox. As the young Infected reaches over with his right hand, Blackjack tells him, "I don't need a thank you or whatever." The Sarkaz proceeds to leave just as the kid drinks the very first quality drink he's seen in his very own hands. Having finished the meeting indoors, Doctor, Amiya, and another woman witn the ears of a lynx and a green dress all walk outside just as Blackjack came back. "Hey, did you found the guy you were looking for?" The guard asks as he comes to Blackjack. "Nah, he escaped," The latter says just as the woman in the green dress walks over. "I heard you are Blackjack, our newest operator from Ursus. I'm Dr. Kal'tsit, head of the Medical department," she says in a serious and a very formal tone. "Ah, so you're in charge of any, like, pharmaceutical business the company does. Warfarin has mentioned you to a great extent during some of our conversations," the Sarkaz says while raising his right hand, expecting some sort of handshake. When Kal'tsit rejects the offer, she then says, "Right. Warfarin. Despite being with us since our foundation, she's..not always the best medic. I want you to keep that in mind. Anyways, I myself want to ask you do something really important for me." "Okay, and that is?" Blackjack interests himself into whatever his superior wants him to do. "I need you to just keep any eye on the Doctor," the lynx says. Connecting the dots on what Kal just said, Blackjack had to say, "Oh, really? That guy? Isn't Amiya already doing that as we speak?" "Well yes. But there's just some things that could happen that not even Amiya could stop, so only you can, when the time comes. That's all I have to say," Dr. Kal'tsit then says as she then leaves. "When the time comes? Bingo?" Blackjack says to himself as the moon is now high above the sky.
