[4 ABY

Fleet of Enduring Freedom.

Location, somewhere near wild space.]

The floor shook as The Enduring Freedom exited Hyperspace. They're last encounter with the Imperial Navy took a lot out of her, Nate thought as he walked through the engineering deck, there were engineers dotting from console to console, trying to fix them all.

Nate however was the chief hyperdrive specialist on board, it was his job to keep the Freedom from exiting hyperspace inside of a planet's atmosphere or worse.

As he arrived at a sparking console on a bulkhead at the far side of the engineering deck, he reached for a small panel on the side of the console as found it he opened the panel revealing another panel with a key hole in it. Nate grabbed the key out of one the pockets on his engineer's jumpsuit, he then unlocked the panel to reveal bunch of wires and a data port, he looked at his data pad as he inserted his data spike.

The pad lit up and read 'connection established' Nate tapped the pad a couple of times to initiate a Hyperdrive diagnostic. "Now we play the waiting game" Nate sighed, "Still talking to Ya' self eh, wise guy?" a loud voice boomed through the deck, Nate looked in confusion at who said that. It was none other Belarus, chief of security on board The Enduring Freedom, as well a rather Brutish looking Deveronian.

And a pain in the neck Nate thought to himself.

"Of course, I am it's part of my job, you know that." Nate joked, Belarus laughed at the response, though his laugh was more like a deep bellow than anything else, Nate thought to himself.

Nate's data pad pinged, notifying Nate that the diagnostic was now finished, as Nate began tapping the data pad a holographic diagram of the hyperdrive appeared above the pad, the hologram had 3 colors the standard blue that was visible with most holograms, red and yellow. Yellow highlighted the components of the hyperdrive that were in need Maintenace but were otherwise still functional, Nate made a note of every component highlighted in yellow and transmitted it to his colleagues as right now he had other issues to worry about, mainly the component highlighted in red. When he saw this, Nate immediately unplugged his data spike, closed the panels and ran to the nearest elevator to the bridge.

Admiral Garillia Ack-Lee turned her seat to face Nate as he entered the bridge it was incredibly humid on the bridge; it was always a little humid on board the ship but here more so than usual Nate thought to himself as he approached the admiral.

Admiral, we have a situation, Nate began as he gave her the data pad. It appears that during our last scuffle with the Imps they managed to hit the hyperdrive. After looking at the diagram for a while she finally responded.

Though I cannot deny that the hyperdrive is in dire need maintenance and according to your diagnostic the hyperdrive is indeed damaged. However, admiral Ack-Lee continued, if they had hit our hyperdrive we would still be over Hypori fighting off imperial forces. Of course, ma'am it's only an observational theory, truth is I have no clue what could possibly have damaged the hyperdrive, so I suggest we shut down the hyperdrive so my team and I can take it apart to see what's wrong and why.
