Hey guys I know it's been a long time, like a really long time. But I am back. Sry I have been gone for so long, I just lost the feeling in my writing and I was starting up my senior year high school when I started this story and I had a lot of things I needed to do so school life just got in the way. On top of that I didn't have a computer to write anything on, except my phone and that was taxing to do.
But with my life coming to a stand still at the moment I needed something to do to keep my mind busy, so I picked my myself a little laptop and voila here we are. This time around I plan to be a bit better about what I'm writing and all that. But be warned it has been a while and i'm just picking this backup so please be patient. And without further or do I guess let's get this show back on the road.
Tilian and Alex were both out in the Atlas wilderness, camping out a high priority target that had been wanted for some time. Their camp was overlooking a cabin on a cliff side that the target was strongly believed to be staying in. The area they were camping at was in a remote region, so any visitors would be highly unlikely. They were unlikely to be seen by him as they were in the middle of a snowstorm; the snow would absorb most of the light that the fire they had going. With them being so far away it was highly unlikely the target would see them at all, but they could see him.
The air around the fire was cold and unforgiving. The snow was coming down in large flakes and partners sat around the fire trying to gain as much heat as they could.
Tilian sat against an old frozen stump that's been shielding him against the negative winds. His partner Alex was under his tent that he had set up next to the stump Tilian was sitting against. Tilians tent was put up on the other side of the stump, both of their tents were open against the wind. Their tents and sleeping bags had small amounts of red dust to keep them warm in the cold weather.
Alex picked up some red dust powder that was next to him and threw it into the fire to keep it going. "What time did she say she was going to be here?" He asked Tilian if he warmed up his hands next to the fire. "She better not be late! I AM NOT! Going to be in this weather more than I have to be." Tilian just looked over and shrugged his shoulders.
"She said she'll be here around dawn, sometime after sunrise." Alex got a sour face and groaned after hearing what he just heard.
"You're joking right? We don't even have a specific time to meet?! OH COME ON MAN! Do you know how COLD it is out here?! If not, I can tell you!" At this point Alex was up and pacing around in front of his partner. "It is!" He pulled out his scroll and put it in front of Tilians face. "It is negative and I repeat NEGATIVE Fifteen degrees out here!"
"I don't know about you!" He stuck his finger right in his partner's face. "But I do not do well in the cold. In fact I hate it! I would much rather be on a beach right now watching babes dressed in skimpy bikinis and-" In all of his excitement about thinking of being on a beach, Tilian was watching the fire behind him slowly get dimmer and dimmer and the air around them getting colder and colder. "Just watching them as they run along the beach as there bo-"
"You do know the fire is going out right?" Tilian finally spoke up.
Alex quickly turned around to see the fire as nothing but a little more than ember and some small flames here and there. He began to panic and rushed towards his tent to begin looking for some dust or dry wood to throw in the fire. Tilian could hear him muttering things about not wanting the fire to go out, and how it would be the end of him. Rummaging through his bag he found some powdered dust. "Aha!" he exclaimed as a smile crossed his face. He kissed the small container it was in and threw it towards the fire. The joy was very quickly cut short as a strong gust of wind caught the small container and carried it to a frozen tree a few feet away from the fire.
Tilian watched as the container broke and the red dust splashed, sizzled, and smoked against the tree.
Alex watched in horror as the container broke and the red dust sizzled against the tree.
As to rub salt into the wound mother nature decided to have another strong gust of wind that had snow fly into the last remaining bits of the pitiful fire that was still going on.
Tilian looked over and could not see Alex as it was now pitch black. But he knew if he could see him right then and there he would see that Alex had a look of horror and pain across his face as the only few things keeping warm just went out.
"I'm not making the next one." Tilian said in a strained voice as he stretched his arms out. He reached for his bag that was next to him and pulled out a pair of binoculars. Getting up he walked over to the side of the cliff he put them up to his eyes and looked down at the cabin. "Please try to keep the angry and unhappy feelings down. The last we need is biting at us right. If that happens the fire is the least of our worries."
"Yeah, yeah." Alex muttered to himself as he walked off to go find more sticks.
The bright lights inside the cabin illuminated the outside of the cabin. Tilian zoomed in on the cabin; making it easy to see that two people were walking outside. Both were wrapped up in thick winter jackets; one was in a blue and the other was in a white. They both had ski masks on. He couldn't make out anything that they were saying. All he could tell was that one was tall and big while the other was just a bit shorter than him; looked a fair bit more thin than him. The one in the white jacket seemed to be much more animated with his movements. The way he held himself seemed much taller than the other one who was just slouched over.
Behind him Tilian heard Alex coming back with more firewood. Tilian paid no attention to him as he kept on watching these two talk.
"Anything interesting going on down there? Been a whole lot of nothin' goin on down there since we got here." He set down the wood into the little pit they had set up and threw some dust on the wood to ignite it.
"I'm pretty sure that's the target I see talking to someone down there. They're wearing winter outfits so making sure it's him is next to impossible." He brought the binoculars down and handed them to Alex who had walked next to him. He took a look through them. "Yeah gonna have to agree with you on that one there bud. Damn it."
He gave the pair back to Tilian but was still looking down at the small light that was cabin down the cliff. "Judging by his size and stature I gotta say the guy in blue is our man. Though we can't confirm it; I'm positive it's him."
"I agree. It's him. But the other question is; who is the other person talking to him?" Tilian looked over at Alex and shrugged his shoulders. "Don't know man, but I can tell you this. I don't like this man just on the way he's talking to our guy down there." Tilian could only just nod his head as he kept watching them talk.
"While you're watching those two love birds flirt. I'm gonna warm my ass up by the fire. If you need me" Alex made exaggerated finger movements towards the fire. "I'll be over there."
"Just make sure this fire doesn't go out ok?" Alex stopped in his tracks and muttered some stuff under his breath before moving back to the fire. Meanwhile Tilian got comfy against a tree that had a clear site of the cabin and began to watch as their target and a mystery man were chatting away.
The two men were out there talking for hours; and Tilain kept watch every second of it. There were times Tilian had to take his eyes off to rub them but sure enough they were still there when he looked back.
Tilain was about to hand over the goggles to Alex when the pair of them began walking back to the house. He perked up and began watching them even closer now that something else was happening. The one in the white jacket opened the door for the other one. But before he could get inside a smaller figure in a pink winter jacket appeared out of thin air next to the man in white. The man in white was unfazed by this; but the man in the blue freaked out a bit and got defensive.
Tilian couldn't tell what they were saying but he could tell that their target was not very happy about what just happened. The other man came over and put his arm around the man and calmed him down. He then seemed to introduce his 'partner' to the man while the smaller figure in pink took a bow.
A few more words were exchanged but soon after the man in white let the target go and walked back over his 'partner'. The mystery man gave the man in blue a wiggly finger hand wave before he and the figure in pink shattered like glass, disappearing into the white night.
Tilian took the binoculars off and looked back over at Alex who was making them supper. "Our night just got a whole lot more complicated."
Yes I know this is a slow and short chapter but remember that I'm just getting back into this myself. I hope you guys enjoyed.
