Ok. A few things before we start. So I know that Koopaling's Biography just finished, and now isn't the best time to write a story, what with my Apocalypse story going on and everything, but this idea just struck me when I was thinking about some stuff. Here's the thought. 'What if Peach WANTED to marry Bowser?'. And yes, I do know this will never happen before Antarctica turns into a scorching hot resort for flying pigs, but that's what being a fanfiction writer is all about, isn't it? And even though this is a story about getting married and one of the genres is romance, don't expect kissing. I don't do that kind of stuff. Well, not on the lips. There might be one or two on the cheek or something. Anyway, enough of me, let's start the story!

Chapter 1: An Unexpected Change

It was a beautiful day in the Mushroom Kingdom. The sun was shining, the birds were tweeting and Mario was enjoying all of it. The moustached plumber was in a good mood, due to the fact that Princess Peach had agreed to go with him to the cinema. He had planned to escort her at 18:00 and the time was 15:00. Just another three hours until he could see the girl of his dreams.

He was secretly planning to propose to her at the scene in the movie where the main character proposes to the girl he likes. Mario was sure that Peach would say yes, as he overheard her talking to Toadsworth about wanting Mario to make a proposal. He smiled as some children ran past, laughing and clutching sticks of candyfloss. He was a celebrity in the Mushroom Kingdom, as well as his brother Luigi. Blue Toad and Yellow Toad were popular as well, although not quite as much.

Earlier on that day, Mario had been playing a friendly game of tennis with his rival, Bowser, and the experience had shown him that under the Peach crazed exterior, the Koopa King could be quite a friendly person. The two of them weren't exactly enemies anymore, more like frenemies or friendly rivals now. But Mario didn't want to dwell on that. He wanted to enjoy his day and go out with Peach later on. A toad on a bike handed him a letter. Mario was confused at first, but then realized it was just the mailman.

So, Mario opened the letter. He read the contents, and was shocked. The letter read this:

Dear Mario,

After your recent mission to save me, I have become to feel sorry for Bowser. The way you just stomped on his head and leapt up to the airship broke my heart. Mario, Bowser is a person too. He does have feelings too, you know. On his airship I realised he was kind and gentle. If I was hungry, he would offer me food and if I was sad, he would watch a comedy show or something with me to cheer me up. This has led me to develop feelings for him. The Koopa King is a nice person Mario. You, however, are not. I've seen what you do to the Koopalings and Bowser Jr. They're only children! I didn't know anyone could be so heartless. I'm sorry, but I'm not interested in you anymore. See me at the castle at 15:30 to say one last goodbye.

Regards,

Princess Peach.

Mario felt an enormous rush of feelings. One, his heart felt like it had been stomped on, squished and used for vegetable throwing. Two, a wave of sadness, heartbreak and anger washed over him. He blinked back hot tears as he walked towards the castle. He had spent two thousand coins on that ring and had even taken some money from the quest a did a few years back where he tried to get as many coins as possible. And that had been wasted. But the ring was the least of his troubles. His love had abandoned him.

Mario eventually reached the castle, feeling sorry for himself. All the Mushroom Retainers seemed down as well. He went over to the main retainer, Toad. "Oh, hi!" Toad said in his cheery voice. "Hey Toad..." Mario replied.

"What's wrong?"

" Princess Peach has-a dumped me for that *sniff* Koopa King! "

Toad looked shocked at this statement. Mario trudged past him and walked through the familiar hallways to the throne room. When he got there, the toads parted so he could make his way towards Peach. She looked happy and sad at the same time, which was an unusual look for her. "You-a called me?" Mario said.

"Mario. I am sorry about this, I really am. But I want to live with Bowser."

"Okey dokey..."

"Goodbye."

Peach walked over to Mario and briefly hugged him. Then, the rumble of an airship could be heard. Mario looked out of the window to see that Bowser's personal airship was docking next to the castle. Out strolled the Koopa King himself, dressed up in a fancy tuxedo. "Good afternoon, m'lady" he said to Peach. "Oh, hi Bowser!" Peach said back, blushing. Bowser turned his attention to a disgruntled looking Mario.

"So, you got turned down? Bwahaha!"

"You never-a stop being the bully, do you Koopa?"

"Nope!"

With that final word, Bowser made a gesture towards the airship. Peach walked on. Bowser turned to Mario, smiled an evil smile, then turned around and got on the airship. It flew away in the afternoon breeze, leaving a smell of smoke and sulphur behind it. Just after, a bunch of toads ran in to the room, holding notepads, cameras and microphones. They asked Mario questions about Peach and how he feels about it. Mario ignored them all.

Taking off his hat, he walked to one of the large windows and looked out of it. "I'm sorry." He whispered to no one in particular.

Luigi was happy. He had proposed to Daisy and she had accepted it. He wondered if Peach had accepted Mario's proposal. As he thought this, Mario walked in through the door, looking the saddest he had ever been. "What-a happened?" Luigi asked his brother.

"P-P-Peach has-a fallen in love with Bowser!"

Luigi gasped. How? Why? Peach would never do that! He immediantly felt sympathy for Mario. He was about to say that, but Mario walked upstairs before he could. Well that was unexpected, he thought to himself. Who will run the Mushroom Kingdom now? I-a suppose some of Peach's relatives might come and do it. But it might be chaotic. Luigi went upstairs to check on his bro. Mario was lying on his bed, sobbing. Luigi sat down next to him and patted him on the back.

"Are you-a okay bro?"

"*Sniff* No, I'm-a not okay! Leave me-a alone!"

Luigi went downstairs and started to cook dinner. He cooked Mario's favourite, spaghetti, in the hope it would get him to come downstairs. I-a hope this doesn't affect him he thought.

Ok, so this was pretty long for me. I wrote this on and off today, which is why I am posting so late. Tell me what you think with a review and make sure to favourite and follow!
