Prologue
Note: I've decided to give this story another try. Please go easy on me.
Narrator: Long ago, and far away. In a village high on a mountain top. Something amazing was occuring. At the very same moment, two baby boys were born.
*At the top of the mountain, in the castle, a baby male black hedgehog with tan skin, red eyes, crimson red stripes & a patch of white fur on his chest, wrapped in a red blanket, lay in a red & gold crib. A purple female hedgehog with peach skin, & green eyes wearing a gold crown on her head, a red cape, long white gloves, a white dress, & white high heels (look up "Queen Aleena" on "Pooh's Adventures Wiki" picked him up & looked at him with a loving smile as she held him in her arms. A black male hedgehog with pale skin, green eyes, & grayish-blue stripes wearing a gold crown on his head, a white & gold uniform (look up "CODE GEASS: Emperor" by "DarkPrincess16" on "DeviantArt") looked at the baby with a proud smile. The 3 of them then went out on a balcony together*
Narrator: One, a baby Prince. The King and Queen were overjoyed. Prince Shadow would have only the finest.
*Meanwhile, in the village, in a basement apartment, a baby cobalt blue male hedgehog with peach skin & emerald green eyes, wrapped in a blue blanket, lay in a drawer. A blue female hedgehog with peach skin, blonde hair, & blue eyes wearing a brown sleeveless dress over a green shirt, a yellow apron, & black shoes (look up "Fairytale Series: The Goose Girl - Peasant Clothes" by "LadyBladeWarAngel" on "DeviantArt") picked him up & smiled at him lovingly. A blue male hedgehog with peach skin, brown hair, & brown eyes wearing a green vest over a white shirt, blue pants, & red shoes (look up "Traveler" by "SwoopyPoolin" on "DeviantArt") also gave him a smile. The 2 hedgehogs then looked out a window together, anxious*
Narrator: The second baby boy was named Sonic. His parents loved him every bit as much as the King and Queen loved the Prince. But they worried. They were so poor. How would they be able to care for their son?
*Prince Shadow (now 18 & wearing a (look up "Prince Shadow - Cosium Outfits - Casual Outfit" by "LiyuConberma" on "DeviantArt")) was sitting at a desk, writing with a quill pen. A brown male owl with brown eyes & an orange beak wearing a black suit jacket, white shirt, & a white cravat & holding a cane was standing in front of him, writing on a chalkboard. Shadow then turned his head slightly to look at a orange female cat with peach skin, long hair in a high ponytail, & blue eyes wearing a black & white maid uniform (look up "Maid Shizuko /my favorite character/" by "freedestruction" on "DeviantArt"), who was sweeping the floor. His cheeks turned a bit pink*
Narrator: Many years past. The Prince learned his royal duties.
*Sonic (now 18 & wearing a light blue tunic over a white shirt, a blue belt, light brown pants, & brown boots (look up "Peasant Sam" on "Lunime Wiki")) was sitting at a worktable, sewing. Standing behind him was a female teal hedgehog with peach skin, dark purple hair, & purple eyes wearing a red hat & dress (look up "Sakura as a Victorian Lady" by "VivianeLeFay" on "DeviantArt"), scolding him. He hid a glare as he worked*
Narrator: While Sonic worked long and hard as a tailor for the spiteful Madame Breezie.
*The 2 boys each stood on a different balcony*
Narrator: With lives so different, it wasn't surprising that the Prince and the Pauper never met. But fate decreed they would.
*The Queen stepped out of a carriage & walked up to a red male echidna & a green male crocodile, both pushing a mine cart*
Narrator: It all started at the Royal Mine.
*The echidna shrugged at the Queen looked inside the cart & gasped*
Narrator: When the miners informed the Queen, the gold had run out. The widowed Queen was shocked.
*She looked down, very upset*
Narrator: The Kingdom was was now bankrupt. How was she going to take care of her people?
*She returned to the castle & looked at portrait of a white & gray male platypus with red eyes & a gray beak wearing orange pince-nez glasses, a purple & red tuxedo, brown gloves, & black, red, & gold boots who was standing behind a red female, with dark red hair, blue eyes, & a cream muzzle, wearing a yellow bow in her hair, a gray dress (look up "Victorian Lady in Grey Dress" by "LaTaupinette" on "DeviantArt") & holding a black feather fan*
Narrator: If only she could call on her trusted advisor, Dr. Starline. But he was away on a long journey with his daughter, Fiona.
*She walked over to a window & opened it*
Narrator: She needed to do something quickly to save the Kingdom, but what?
*Just then, a smile grew on her face*
Narrator: And then it struck her. Nearby lived a rich young Queen, who was seeking a husband.
*She turned around to face her son, who sitting at the piano, reading a book. He then looked up at his Mother, confused*
