Chapter 14: New Spells

A/N: In the game Wizard101, the player will occasionally get a call from their teacher about learning a new spell once they reach a certain level. This spell depends on what the player's main school is. Even though school spell quests come as soon as level 5, I feel like they don't come consistently until they hit level 18.

Kalin, Leo, and Luna waited by General Khaba for the rest of the team. After several minutes, footsteps could be heard, followed by familiar faces. Yusei and the others stepped forward to show the general his coin.

"Yusei, Jack, Crow, Akiza, you got the coin!" smiled Kalin.

"We did it! We got everything!" cheered Leo.

"That guy who stole the coin was nothing compared to the King!" boasted Jack.

"General Khaba," said Yusei. "We believe this belongs to you."

The Krok general took the coin and smiled at everyone. "Thank you for your aid. I must stay and rally our forces. Your help will not be forgotten, Wizards. You have done much to earn the trust of the Order of the Fang. Go tell Shalek the Wise in the Entrance Hall that I am once again ready to lead our fight."

"Glad we could help," smiled Akiza. Everyone left the Hall of Champions through the front door and returned to where Shalek the Wise was. They had a brief conversation about how they fought hard to gain General Khaba's trust. After hearing their tale, Shalek the Wise nodded in approval.

"Excellent!" remarked the elderly Krok. "You found the Great General Khaba and returned him to the field. Perhaps the Sleep had no ill effects on any of the Order. We may very well defeat the Tuts for good this time!"

"So what now? Is there more of the Order out there?" asked Crow.

Shalek the Wise nodded. "With General Khaba, the Order can plan strategy, but without our fearless warrior, Khai Amahte the Great, who are we?"

"Khai Amahte? Where can we find him?" asked Luna.

"The Great?" asked Leo.

"I'm concerned our Mander ally Ako has not yet found Khai Amahte. Please go to the Grand Arena and help Ako. Khai Amahte's ferocity in battle stirs the fight in all of us. He must be found!"

However, before anyone could respond to Shalek's request, their magic compasses all rang. When they responded, images of their teachers appeared, much to their surprise.

"Huh? A new spell?" asked Akiza.

"But we are in the middle of an important task," stated Kalin.

"But if our teachers called us, then it must be important too!" exclaimed Jack.

"I agree," nodded Yusei. "Let's head back to Ravenwood and see our teachers about these new spells."

With that, the team departed the Krokosphinx, opened the World Door, and flew on their dragons back to Wizard City. In the blink of eye, they arrived at Ravenwood and split up to speak to their teachers.

Yusei walked up to Arthur Wethersfield, the Instructor of Balance. "I received your message about a new spell, Professor Wethersfield."

The dog-man nodded. "You feel you are ready to learn a new spell? Jolly Good. I think it is time I teach you Mander Minion, and we will need a few reagents to create it."

"Mander Minion?" repeated Yusei. To him, the idea of having minion didn't sound right to him.

Professor Wethersfield continued. "You will need to talk to the trees of Fire, Ice, and Storm. You must gain from each a leaf. Return when you have these."

Yusei nodded and then spoke to the magical Ravenwood trees of Fire, Ice, and Storm. After hearing what they had to say and exchanging a few leaf jokes in-between, the trees all agreed to give him one of their leaves. After obtaining them, Yusei walked back to his professor.

Professor Wethersfield chuckled at what he overheard. "Let me guess, the trees told you their leaf jokes…I don't want to hear them, I just wish they'd find some better ones to tell…"

Yusei couldn't help but crack a smile. "It wasn't really any trouble, professor."

Professor Wethersfield then proceeded to crush the magical leaves and put them in a veil. "Now that I have crushed the leaves, they need to be purified. For this, you will need to travel to Krokotopia, no less. Take these ingredients to the large fire pit in the Alter of Kings in the pyramid. Just a few seconds in the flames should do. Toodles!"

Yusei nodded and waved back to his teacher. He then entered Bartleby and used his World Key to fly to Krokotopia and went inside the Pyramid of the Sun. Once inside, Yusei did what Professor Wethersfield instructed him to and heated up the veil containing the leaves over the altar. The ingredients turned from a bright green to a bright pink hue. After heating up the leaves, the balance instructor called him and told Yusei to stir up the leaves.

"Alright, what's the next step?" asked Yusei.

"Now we need to add an Ice element into the ingredients. I would suggest checking with Zan'ne in the Krokotopian Library as to the best place for that."

Yusei traveled to the library and asked the librarian, Zan'ne about Ice elements and showed the mander the veil.

"I'm afraid Ice elements are beyond my field of expertise," stated Zan'ne sadly. You should speak with Niles, the Balance Tree. He's over on the Krokosphinx."

"Thanks for the tip," said Yusei. He left the library and boarded the ship to the Krokosphinx. Once on the other side, he spoke to the magical palm tree.

"So, you need a place of Ice for your quest spell. Hmmmm…the best place I recommend is the Icy waters of the Entrance Hall."

Yusei thanked Niles for his help and went inside the Entrance Hall. He then stood over the icy fountain and carefully scooped some of the water into his veil. The mixture turned into a pale blue color. Afterwards, he called his professor to inform him.

"I have obtained the Ice element. Now only the Storm element is left."

"Brilliant!" exclaimed Wethersfield. "The icy water was at the Entrance Hall? Why didn't I think of that? I guess I must be getting on in years. Oh, yes, we're not finished, are we? Now we need to add a spark to this to Balance it. There is a room in the great pyramid, a Storm room."

"A storm room?" asked Yusei. As far as his team's progress went, they haven't ran into anything Storm-related yet.

"I don't remember where this room is, But Niles should," said Wethersfield. "But be careful, you will have to prove yourself to the Tritons first!"

Yusei didn't like the sound of that as he returned to where Niles stood. "A storm room?" asked Niles. "Well, the Tomb of Storms is where you would want to go, but that's quite a dangerous place. Wait a moment, I remember one now! There is one in the Pyramid, somewhere in the Royal Hall, but the location has been guarded for years by someone known as Hetch Al' Dim."

Yusei returned to the pyramid and ran down the Royal Hall to a door marked by purple braziers. He pushed open the creaky doors and was suddenly confronted by a loud, booming voice:

"Student of Balance, I will grant your wish. But only if you prove you are worthy. You must fight for what you believe in. Defeat the Kraken if you can!"

"I will do it! And to save the Spiral from Malistaire!" yelled Yusei. He then entered the Duel Arena and engaged in battle against the Kraken. The beast hit him with a jolt of electricity, that left him stunned for a brief moment.

"Ugh! I won't give up!" he muttered as he drew a Locust Swarm card and hit the Kraken with it. The Storm creature fell to the ground in defeat. Once again, the loud voice echoed through the chamber.

"You have proved yourself worthy, student of Balance. Hold up the ingredients that you hold so that we can give it our blessing."

Yusei held them up as instructed and the power of Storm Magic reacted to them. He then departed Krokotopia and returned to Ravenwood.

"Professor, I got all the ingredients in this bottle," Yusei said as he showed the veil.

"I see, now you are ready for the final step," nodded Professor Wethersfield. "You have but one more step in your quest. You will need to go somewhere where the air is clear. I suggest you go to Olde Town for the summoning of your Balance Minion."

Yusei ran towards Old Town and towards the entrance to Firecat Alley. Suddenly, he felt the winds around him grow still. To his shock, a Scorpion came out of the ground and greeted him.

"What? Are you a messenger?" asked Yusei.

The Scorpion hissed but didn't seem like a threat.

"Sssss…So, student of Balance, you feel that you are ready for your next spell? Rember, with knowledge comes power, and with power comes great responsibility. Ssss…."

The Scorpion went up to Yusei and poked his hand with its tail stinger. Yusei flinched as his whole body tingled as the Scorpion transferred its powers of Balance to him.

"That was a strange sensation…" muttered Yusei as he returned to Ravenwood and Professor Wethersfield.

"So, the Scorpion of Power has enchanted your reagents? Give them to me please…"

Yusei gave the veil to his teacher, who then spoke an ancient Krokotopian chant. The ingredients inside the veil glowed in a bright light and transformed into a spell card. Yusei took the card in awe.

"There you go. You are now ready to have a Minion of your own. A Minion of Balance that will aid you in your times of need. Cheers!" smiled Wethersfield.

Jack went inside the School of Fire, where the Fire professor, Dalia Falmea was waiting for him. "It's about time you returned to learn another spell, dear."

"What's this about a new spell?" asked Jack.

"This one will help you immensely in combat," continued Falmea. "It will first require a Frozen Fire Gem from Krokotopia. Once you are there, consult Zan'ne in the Library."

Jack rushed to the World Door inside Bartleby and flew aboard Red Dragon Archfiend to Krokotopia. Once there, he ran to the library and asked Zan'ne about the gems.

"Greetings, student of Fire!" the librarian chirped.

"Where can I find Frozen Fire Gems?" asked Jack.

Zan'ne fingered through his documents. "You need help with finding a Frozen Fire Gem? Not too much is frozen here in Krokotopia. But I have heard of some glyphs concerning these found at the Dig Site in Royal Hall." The mander then handed Jack some papyrus. "Take this and make some rubbings of the Bird Obelisk down there. I should be able to advise you better after that."

Jack took the papyrus and went inside the pyramid and into the Royal Halls. He ran all the way down the hallways to the Dig Site and approached the Bird Obelisk. Jack placed the sheet of papyrus that Zan'ne gave him and took a rubbing of the obelisk.

"I wonder what this has to do with my new spell?" asked Jack to himself as he headed back to the library.

"So, you made the rubbings of the Bird Obelisk? Let me see!" Jack gave the mander the papyrus paper.

"So?" asked Jack.

"Ooh!" exclaimed Zan'ne. I know where this is! A treasure of Fire Gems was stored in the Krokosphinx during the Iman era, and now they are trapped in the frost. Go to the room where General Khaba stands in the Hall of Champions. Take one of the gems frozen there. Professor Falmea will know what to do next."

Jack headed to the boat and rode to the Krokosphinx. He entered the ancient monument and ran back to the Hall of Champions. As he searched the icy floor for the Fire Gem, General Khaba couldn't help but glance over at what Jack was doing.

"I see you are gathering more of the frozen gems, wizard," said General Khaba. "What do you need them for?"

"I need them for a spell, general," replied Jack.

"Since you helped me reclaim my belongings, you are free to take as many as you need," the Krok said.

"Thanks, a lot," nodded Jack as he took the gem and traveled back to Professor Falmea. Jack showed her the gem.

"My, that is an exquisite gem you have there! Perfect for the next step in the creation of your spell," said Falmea. "Now, speak with Bernie on how to instill the spell within the gem."

Jack went outside the school and spoke with Bernie, the Fire Tree.

"Ah, the Heck Hound Spell. You will need to find magical forces from both the Tritons and Giants for this. I know of no place in Wizard City that contains both forces."

"Tritons and Giants? Where can I find those?" asked Jack.

"But I know Krokotopia will have these major elements together. I would suggest consulting Niles. You can find him in front of the Krokosphinx."

Jack traveled back to the Krokosphinx island and spoke to Niles. "Hey Niles tree! Where can I find Tritons and Giants?"

Niles chuckled at his childness. "So you are looking for the elements of Giants and the Tritons in close proximity? I know of a chamber in the Grand Arena that should suit your needs. I have heard of a Frost monster in a Storm Chamber. Seek the chamber in the halls just past the Colosseum. Mind you, the Old Ones are not kind to those who wake them."

Jack entered the Krokosphinx and into the Grand Arena. After walking down the long hallway, he dropped off into a huge, circular arena. It had various rooms connected to it, which were marked by obelisks.
"This place is huge!" exclaimed Jack. "The Kroks sure have some style."

He then entered the chamber that Niles had marked on his map and pushed his way inside the Storm Chamber. Inside, he was met with a cold wind that swirled around the room. And in the center, stood a Frost Colossus.

"Beware of what you seek, Student of Fire. You must prove you are worthy to seek assistance from the Powers of Ice."

"Oh yeah? I'll just have to prove it by melting you!" shouted Jack.

The two of them engaged in battle, where the first thing the Frost Colossus did was put up a Fire Shield.

"Lucky bastard…" muttered Jack as he summoned a Fire Elf to attack him. The initial hit did not scald the giant much, due to the shield, however. The giant then fought back with slash of its icy sword. Jack was struck by the icy blast and shivered as he struggled to get up. The frost colossus casted a spell in an attempt to attack Jack while he was down.

"You haven't defeated me yet, not while my soul still burns!" yelled Jack. "I summon Fire Bird!" The bird emerged from his card and flew at the Frost Colossus, melting it and warming Jack up at the same time. As soon as the colossus was defeated, a loud voice rang throughout the Storm Chamber.

"You have proven yourself worthy, student of Fire! I will breathe on the gem you carry…" Jack felt another cold wind in the room and the gem he held turned a shade of blue.

"That was crazy…" muttered Jack. "Did a Giant really do that?" He shook his head as he returned to see Professor Falmea.

Upon seeing him, Dalia Falmea was pleased as punch. "Congratulations on winning the favor of the Giants in allowing you to capture an Ice Wind. You are almost ready to create your spell!"

"Almost ready to create my spell? What else do I have to do?" asked Jack.

"You are so close! In order for you to complete your quest, you will need to get your power from a Fire Minion," stated Falmea. "You will have to go to Olde Town and travel to the entrance to Triton Avenue. Make sure that no one gets hurt when such a large minion arrives…"

Jack ran to Olde Town and towards the entrance to Triton Avenue. Upon reaching the area, he heard a deep growl that made the hairs on his head stand up.

"What was that sound?" muttered Jack. He looked at the ground and spotted a small doghouse on the ground. "A toy house?"
Suddenly, a pair of glowing eyes shone out of the house and with another rumble, a large red, demonic dog jumped out of it. The dog barked and growled at Jack, its eyes literally on fire.

"What on Earth?! THAT's the Heck Hound?!" exclaimed Jack.

The Heck Hound growled quietly. "You have summoned me? You should feel honored. I so not show up for everyone. But we have been watching you, student of Fire…A great darkness is spreading across the land. Not just in this world, but in many others as well. You will be required to use your powers wisely."

"Use my powers wisely?" asked Jack.

"And to make yourself more powerful, you will need to speak these words to your professor: 'Zolo, Zomi, Zori!'" With that, the Heck Hound reared its head back and blasted Jack with magic flames. Jack's eyes widened in shock and he dove to avoid the flames. But surprisingly, the flames didn't leave a mark on him.

"Ok, that was the strangest thing I've seen all day," said Jack. "Apart from hearing voices from out of nowhere."

He returned back to the School of Fire. Professor Falmea smiled at him. "So you have your words of power? Great, now we can begin to create your spell."

Professor Falmea and Jack recited the words the Heck Hound said and the gem began to glow, transforming into a spell card. The card dropped into Jack's hands.

"There, it is done! Now you will be able to summon a Heck Hound whenever you require one!" applauded Falmea.

"Alright!" exclaimed Jack.

Crow ran to the Storm School after reading the message the Storm Professor, Halston Balestrom had to say. Once inside, the frog was tinkering with several tools. When he saw Crow, he looked excited.

"What's the problem, teach?" asked Crow.

"It's time for some more training," stated Professor Balestrom. "You are becoming a very powerful Wizard!"

"Wow, thanks, teach," grinned Crow.

Professor Balestrom continued. "It's time for you to learn how to summon a Minion. Go to the Library and search for information that will help you."
"A minion, huh?" Crow asked to himself as he went to the Wizard City Library. The librarian, Harold Argleston was from the same place Professor Wethersfield came from, Marleybone.

"Hey, sir, Professor Balestrom told me to ask you about Minions. Do you know where I can find one?" asked Crow.

Argleston looked up from his desk. "So, you need some information about summoning Minions? I'll see if we have any books here that will help you." He searched the nearby shelves for a minute before shaking his head.

"Unfortunately I can't find anything here that will help you. Perhaps the Library in Krokotopia will have something that will help you. Check with Zan'ne. Cheers!"

"That's disappointing, but thanks anyway, sir," shrugged Crow as he went back to Ravenwood and entered Bartleby. He opened the World Door and flew aboard Black Winged Dragon to Krokotopia. Once he reached the library there and spoke to its librarian, Zan'ne's syes lit up.

"Aaaah, the very information I need, indeed! I appreciate you for bringing it here to me. Tinu can be such a procrastinator sometimes."

"Uh, yeah, anyway, I want to know if you have any info about minions," replied Crow.

"You are looking for some information on Minions?" asked Zan'ne. "Yes, just go upstairs and search on the middle scroll rack. That is our magic section."

Crow thanked Zan'ne and went to the middle scroll rack as he was told and in no time at all, found the item he needed.

"I guess this is what the professor wants," said Crow. He called Professor Balestrom and showed him the scroll. "Prof, I found it, now what?"

"Most excellent!" exclaimed Balestrom. "This will help you greatly. Now, you must gather some elements. You will need to fill a vial with well water from the Oasis."

"Ok," Crow gave his teacher a thumbs-up as he walked up to the well. He took the veil Headmaster Ambrose had handed him and everyone else before they started their journey in the desert world and dipped it into the water. As soon as he filled the veil, Crow heard thunder and some fluttering. A swarm of Lightning Bats appeared before the red-head.

"Huh?! Did I do something?" exclaimed Crow.

"Hello young Wizard," stated the bats. "We are proud to see you are growing strong in the Storm School. We wish you the best of luck!" The bats took off as quickly as they had come.

"Whoa, that was wacky," Crow said as he rubbed his head. He traveled back to Ravenwood to report to Professor Balestrom. The frog closely examined the water and grinned.

"This is perfect! Now, for the final test. We need to test your skills. We will test your wits against the beast in the tower. Go into the Storm Tower for your next challenge."

"A fight, huh? Bring it on!" smiled Crow as he entered the tower. Inside, were two Krakens. They happened to be the same school as Crow was, so he had to use what he read in his guidebook to aid him. Crow placed a prism on the Krakens, who in turn, retaliated by zapping him with their electric-tipped claws.

"Ow! Now I know why teach said this was a challenge. These guys actually have resist to my school now! Well, no wonder they gave us these prisms." He summoned a Lightning Bat and defeated one of the Krakens. The remaining one tried to get back at Crow for defeating its partner, but Crow was just too quick for it. Using his fighting skills he learned from years living in Satellite, he summoned a Storm Shark behind the Kraken and knocked it down.

After the battle, the Karakens bowed down to Crow and admitted defeat. "You are a worthy opponent and becoming more powerful. May your training go well."

Back inside the Storm School, Professor Balestrom was delighted. "So you defeated the Krakens in the tower. Good Job. This should help you further in your training." He then handed Crow his new spell, Summon Water Elemental.

"Wow, thanks, I can't wait to use this!" exclaimed Crow.

Luna slowly entered the Ice School, wondering what her professor, Lydia Greyrose was up to. The small elderly fairy was waiting for Luna, looking excited.

"I'm here, professor," bowed Luna.

"So, you feel up to a quest spell. Though you will have to travel far to the reaches of Krokotopia, you will find Ice Armor well worth it," explained Professor Greyrose.

"Ice Armor? What must I do?" asked Luna.

"Find a Frost Colossus. His Ice Medallion will be used to create your spell. To find one I suggest talking with Kelvin," said Greyrose.

Luna nodded and went outside to speak to Kelvin, the Ice School Tree. "You say you want to find a Frost Colossus? Are you mad? Have you taken leave of your senses?"

"I have friends and my brother who believe in me," Luna said with determination burning in her eyes.

"Oh, you need to find one for your quest spell. Why didn't you say that first! Mmm…I don't know any offhand, but I know someone who would," chuckled Kelvin.

"Who is it?" asked Luna.

"Talk to the Balance Tree. He's wise and knows all of Krokotopia. I haven't seen him since the worlds broke apart, so say 'Hi' to him for me," answered Kelvin.

"Ok, thank you, Kelvin," nodded Luna. She then went to the World Door and rode on Ancient Fairy Dragon to Krokotopia and the island where Niles the Balance Tree lived. Luna waved hello to Niles, who greeted the young girl with a smile.

"Hello, Niles, Kelvin in Ravenwood told me to say 'Hi' for him," waved Luna.

"You say you know Kelvin?" asked Niles. "Sure, I still remember him, even if it has been years since I last laid eyes on him. So, you are looking for a Frost Colossus."

"Do you know where I find one?" asked Luna.

Niles' eyes looked at her in shock. "Has the sun driven you mad?! Oh you need to find one for your spell quest. Just go into the Krokosphinx and try the door next to Rami in the Hall of Champions. Please come back to me after you have retrieved the Medallion. " I would fear the Colossus got the better of you."

"Thanks Niles, but you don't need to worry about me," stated Luna assuringly as she went into the Krokokosphinx and down the Hall of Champions. When Rami spotted her, he question what Luna was doing back here. Luna told him she was learning a new spell and then entered the door behind the mander.

As soon as she stepped inside, she felt a cold wind blow that chilled her to the bone and a deep menacing voice.

"Wizard, you have chosen to see if you are worthy of our gifts. Prepare yourself."

"I'm ready!" stated Luna as she entered the arena and engaged in battle against the Frost Colossus. Since the creature was the same school as she was, Luna remembered she had to put a prism on it for her ice spells to truly hurt it. She then attacked the colossus with a Snow Serpent. The giant then attacked her with an Ice spell of its own. Luna shivered as the spell struck her, but she was able to shrug it off and fight back with another spell. The Frost Colossus fell to the ground and dropped its Ice Medallion. Luna quickly picked it up and hurried back to Niles.

When Niles saw the medallion, he looked thrilled to see her. "Good to see you made it back! Let me see what you have retrieved. Mmmm…looks like the medallion suffered some damage during combat."

"Oh no! Will it still work?" asked Luna.

"If you take and dip it back into the icy waters just inside the Krokosphinx, I'm sure that will mend it. Off you go now…" replied Niles.

"Alright, I'll try," nodded Luna. She went back inside the monument and carefully dipped the medallion into the icy waters, which restored it. Luna then traveled back to Ravenwood's Ice School and presented the artifact to her teacher.

"Professor Greyrose, I brought the Ice Medallion back," smiled Luna.

The ice fairy clapped. "Good show, bringing that Medallion back in one piece! I mean…good show YOU returning in one piece. Some students don't. But I knew you would."

Greyrose carefully examined the medallion by turning it over several times. "Ah, the Medallion is flawless. This will make for a powerful spell. You have but one last task."

"One last task? What is it?" asked Luna.

"You will need to go to the Briskbreeze Tower on Colossus Boulevard and summon your Frost Minion. Dress warmly, dear."

"Yes, professor," nodded Luna. She headed to Colossus Boulevard and as soon as she stepped foot into the streets, the temperature suddenly went from room temperature to freezing in the drop of a dime.

"Brr, Professor Greyrose was right about this place. I don't think this will be the last time I'll have to come here…" thought Luna. She hurriedly ran down the frozen streets to the entrance of Briskbreeze Tower. Once there, Luna heard a hissing deep within the earth…

A large Ice Wyvern suddenly emerged from the ground, surrounded by pillars of Ice. Luna was amazed by the sight of the majestic creature.

"Ssssoooo, Student of Ice," the Ice Wyvern hissed. "You feel you are worthy of your next spell? Pray tell, what makes you believe you are worthy of this honor?"

"I was to help my friends protect the Spiral from Malistaire," Luna boldly stated. She then showed the Medallion to the serpent. It took one look at it and gave Luna a nod of approval.

"I am glad for you. I find it discouraging to have to strike down unworthy students in the midst of their prime. Though they try, we do have our standards," explained the Ice Wyvern.

"Standards?" asked Luna, frowning a bit.

"You deserve the words of power you require for your spell. Remember these words: 'Kryas Serpenys Aspidos'" hissed the Ice Wyvern. It then blew a blast of arctic wind at Luna before diving back into the ground.

"Wow, that that incredible!" smiled Luna as she returned to the Ice School to report to Professor Greyrose.

"Professor Greyrose, the Ice Minion came and gave me its approval!" exclaimed Luna.

Greyrose smiled. "So, you were able to get your power words from the Minion? Good to hear. Hold up the Medallion and repeat the words the Minion spoke to you."

Luna held up the medallion in the air and cleared her throat. She chanted the words 'Kryas Serpenys Aspidos!' A flash of brilliant blue light came out of the medallion and transformed into a spell card.

"That's it!" cheered Greyrose. "Just remember to use your new spell wisely. There is a darkness growing on the horizon. Your powers will be need in the troubles ahead."

"I'll keep that in mind, professor," nodded Luna.

Leo looked at his magical compass and wasn't sure what to make of his professor, Cyrus Drake's voice when he contacted him. Professor Drake sound just as rude as ever before and didn't seem very excited. Leo went to the Myth School anyway despite all of this.

"I wonder what my teacher wants with me. Maybe I broke a rule!" cried Leo.

Once he went inside the school, Professor Drake glance down at him.

"Um, did I do something?" asked Leo.

"Oh it's you again," sighed Professor Drake. "And you want me to teach you a spell. How quant. Luckily, I need some reagents. Find me some Pixie wings."

"Oh wow, a spell? Cool! How do I get it?" Leo exclaimed as his mood changed.

"Only an adept student will be able to locate them. Consult Ivan. He'll know more about them. Now, leave me alone to my studies…" said Drake.

"Um, ok, teacher," said Leo as he went outside to speak to Ivan the Myth Tree.

"What did you do to Cyrus to warrant him sending you out for those?" moaned Ivan. "If I know him, "I'm sure that he wants you to collect wings from…Death Pixies."

"Death Pixies? That doesn't sound good…" muttered Leo.

Ivan continued. "They were the scourge at Unicorn Way before they were banished from Wizard City. The last I heard they were wreaking chaos in Krokotopia. Try the library there. Though it was awhile back I'm sure they would have records of the Pixies' escapades."

"So you want me to go to Krokotopia and hunt down these Death Pixies? Gotcha!" grinned Leo as he ran inside Bartleby. He unlocked the World Door with his key and flew on Life Stream Dragon to Krokotopia. Once there, he entered the library and spoke to Zan'ne.

"…so in conclusion, where are the Death Pixies?" finished Leo.

"The Death Pixies, you say?" asked Zan'ne. "Yes, they did cause some mayhem back in the day. That is, until they were tricked and imprisoned within the Pyramid."

"Wow, that guy must have been really powerful," stated Leo. "Where are they now?"

"I believe there is a skull obelisk at the excavation site in the Chamber of Fire that mentions these creatures. Take this papyrus and make a rubbing of the glyphs on it."

"Ok, sir," Leo said as he took the papyrus and ran into the pyramid's Chamber. He eventually made it to the skull obelisk and put the sheet on it.

"I wonder if all wizards have to study archeology…" sighed Leo. He returned to the library after making the rubbing and showed it to Zan'ne. He examined it and nodded.

"Yes, Death Pixies were imprisoned in one of the rooms in the Royal Hall. There chamber is guarded by obelisks that have the sacred scarab on them. Hmmm…a door with two Sacred Scarab Obelisks outside. Can't be many of those around. Hope the Pixies are not as bad as everyone says they are."

As Leo ran towards the Royal Hall and the room Zan'ne spoke about, Leo was worried. "I hope he is right. Those Pixies must be really evil if whoever defeated them had to lock them up."

He then approached the door marked by the two scarab obelisks, took a deep breath, and entered the room. Inside, a high-pitched voice laughed throughout the chamber.
"My, it's been ages since we have had a visitor, right sisters? Stay a while! Stay forever!"

"Ok, I was having doubts about the whole Death Pixie thing and you being locked up. But now I think my professor and the librarian was right!" shouted Leo.

The Death Pixies cackled at his small frame and they all engaged in battle. The pixies battled him in a 3-on one duel, which Leo thought was very unfair. They kept flying around him, teasing him, while hitting him. However, despite this, Leo used all the courage he had garnered over the time he spent fighting with Team 5DS and managed to outwit the Death Pixies by summoning a Troll Minion to help him. The Troll and Leo worked together to defeat the Pixies. After the battle, Leo reluctantly pulled off the wings and put them in a container.

"Sorry, guys. But I learned dueling isn't always fun and games," sighed Leo. He then returned back to the Myth School and presented Professor Drake the Pixie Wings. The Myth teacher raised his eyebrows.

"You acquired the Death Pixie wings? Hmmm…" muttered Drake.

"Yeah, aren't I cool or what?" grinned Leo.

Professor Drake looked down his nose at Leo, and looked as if he was an annoying bug that needed to be squished. Leo gulped and flinched at his teacher's reaction. However, Professor Drake relaxed his posture.

"Hmmm…maybe you will fit in at Myth after all. Give me a moment to determine what you will need next…" Professor Drake glanced at his notes and then resumed his class. "Yes, you will now need your words of power to complete your quest. Though there are many places you might hear them, I suggest going to the place you are the most connected to. When I was young, I found Cyclops Lane had the strongest of Minions . Seek out one at the park there."

"Okee Dokie!" exclaimed Leo as he ran to Cyclops Lane. Once he reached the Festival Park, his loud footsteps somehow attracted the attention of one of the cyclops roaming the street.

"I hear your call, Conjurer!" yelled the voice.

The voice caused Leo to jump. "You do?"

The cyclops flexed his muscles and shouted: "You learned well, Conjurer! I find favorites in those who can summon me! I shall reward you for all your work with a Summon Minion spell! I shall energize you with the strongest power words: Parvus sed potens!"

When Leo returned to see his professor, he spoke the power words to Drake. Leo took a deep breath and sweated a bit as he waited for Drake to give his opinion. Much to his relief, Cyrus was impressed as the card materialized out of thin air.

"It is done! Here is your spell. Practice your spells well, student," stated Professor Drake. "I fear bad omens are on the horizon. It will take all of us together to avert a great disaster that is threatening to take hold here…"

"Alright! I think my teacher actually likes me now!" grinned Leo.

"Professor Wu. I received your call and I was wondering what you need help with?" asked Akiza as she entered the Life School.

Professor Wu fanned herself. "It is time to learn your next spell. When in combat, it is always nice to have a companion. I shall teach you how to summon one."

*Companion in battle? Yusei taught me that too.* thought Akiza. "My next spell?"

"Professor Wu nodded. "One of the items required to summon this companion are Fairy Wings. You will need to collect some on Unicorn Way from the Dark Fairies. After you have the Fairy Wings you will need to go to the Gazebo on Unicorn Way. There, you will give the wings to a Life Minion. Don't worry, the minion is very friendly. Good Luck!"

"Alright, thank you, Professor," smiled Akiza as she proceeded to Unicorn Way. There, she was surprised there were still a few Dark Fairies roaming around even after she and the others freed them from their curse. She battled several of them before one of the fairies gave in and gave her its wings.

Akiza shook her head as she took the wings from the Dark Fairy. "I'm sorry, but I hope I can use your power for a good cause." She headed towards the gazebo and searched around it for a bit until she felt something strange in the air. A satyr suddenly materialized in front of her, playing a magical tune.

"Wow! This is incredible!" exclaimed Akiza.

The satyr bowed to her. "Hello there, Student of Life. I am so glad that you called upon me for help. Join me with this merry tune that I play." He started to dance around her. Akiza smiled and couldn't resist the urge to dance to the satyr's tune. While they danced, he took the Fairy Wings from Akiza'a hands and gave her an Enchanted Flower.

"Is this flower part of the spell?" asked Akiza.

"Isn't dancing not the most joyful thing?" asked the satyr. "You cannot help but feel alive! Go now and always carry a song in your heart!" He whistled one last time before disappearing.

"Yes, it most definitely is a wonderful thing," giggled Akiza as she went back to the Life School. She presented the Enchanted Flower to Professor Wu, who nodded in approval.

"Very good, you have done well," said Wu. "There are more items needed, though."

"What do I need?" asked Akiza.

"Next, you'll need some Acetate Cloth. This is a cloth that has special magical properties," explained Professor Wu. "Last I heard, the Librarian in Krokotopia had a supply of this special cloth. He uses it to bind many of the old books they have there. Please see if he can spare some for me."

"Alright, I will," Akiza bowed before leaving for the World Door. She used the Krokotopian Key and rode on Black Rose Dragon towards the library. Once there, she spoke to Zan'ne about the cloth.

"You need Acetane Cloth?" asked Zan'ne. "You've come to the right place! I just happen to have some." The librarian gave her some of the cloth.

"Thank you very much," smiled Akiza.

Zan'ne nodded. "Let me guess…this is for your next spell? I wish I had the time to study magic, but a Librarian's work is never done. Time to reshelve some more scrolls!"

After receiving the cloth, Akiza called Professor Wu. "Professor, I got the cloth from the librarian. What do I do with it?"

Professor Wu smiled. "Excellent! I knew I could count on the librarian for the Acetate Cloth. The next item we will need is a green gem. Strangely enough, this is a common request, and Gordon Flemming usually has one. Go seek him and ask him for a green gem." Professor Wu marked his location on the map, which was located in the Royal Hall.

Akiza headed towards the Pyramid's Royal Hall and into its dig site. She walked up to Gordon Fleming and asked him about the green gem.

"You need a green gem?" asked Gordon. "They take a little time to polish. I have a few ready, but they're spoken for. I can give you one of those, but I'll need a rough gem to replace it with." He then remembered something. "There is a rumor that there is a unique green gem somewhere here in the dig site. I'm having a booger of a time finding it! Do me a favor and search around here for it?"

Akiza was wondering what he meant by that as she walked around the dig site. She searched the artifacts carefully until she noticed a gleam of green glistening from a Krok statue. She approached the statue and noticed there was a green gem lodged in one of its nostrils. She dislodged it after several tugs and then a strange feeling washed over her when she realized what Gordon Fleming meant by 'booger of a time'.
"Uh, I'm not going to question that one…" she chuckled. She then showed the Marleybonian the gem, who happily took it.

"Well done! I'll give you one of the prepared gems, so you don't have to wait. I'll get to work on this one now. Good luck!"

Akiza thanked him and returned to the Life School. Moolinda Wu smiled as she laid out the Fairy Wings, Acetate Cloth, and the Green Gem. "Wonderful. Now that we have all the ingredients, we can begin." Akiza watched as Moolinda started to weave all the items together.

"There you go," said Professor Wu as she held up her creation. "All done, and this is for you." The green gem started to glow and a spell card appeared.

"Sprite Guardian?" thought Akiza. "I'll be sure to treasure it."

As soon as Kalin received the message from Professor Dworgyn, he hurriedly went to the door behind the waterfall decorating the bridge in the Wizard City Commons. He still thought it was strange how the Death School was thrown from its entire foundation in Ravenwood and dumped here. He entered the crooked building and confronted the Death Professor.

"You called me here?" asked Kalin.

Dworgyn nodded. "Hello, Kalin. Since you are here I'm guessing you are ready for your next Death Spell. Do you think you are ready? Let's find out…"

"My next spell?" asked Kalin bluntly.

"I heard that Professor Winthrop from Marleybone found some Death Artifacts in a pyramid in Krokotopia. Do me a favor and check to see what he has learned. Maybe he knows of some new Death spells!" instructed Dworgyn.

"Alright, I'll check," replied Kalin. He went into Bartleby and flew through the World Door on the back of Infernity Doom Dragon and arrived in Krokotopia. He then entered the Pyramid of the Sun and walked up to Professor Winthrop.

"Hey, Professor Winthrop. The Death Professor asked me if you know anything about Death Artifacts," said Kalin.

"Ah, you must be one of Dworgyn's students," nodded Winthrop. "I guess he heard that we found some Death Artifacts. It is amazing that nothing goes on here without him learning about it. I guess that is one advantage of being a Wizard."

"I suppose so," Kalin shrugged.

Professor Winthrop checked his notes carefully before resuming his speech. "Yes, the Death Artifacts! I have studied them and have made some notes. Can you take these notes to the Libraries of Krokotopia and Wizard City? Then take the last notes back to Dworgyn in Nightside. He will be interested!"

"Thanks, Professor, will do," nodded Kalin as he took the man's notes and walked to the Krokotopia Library. He entered the building and gave the first set of notes to Zan'ne.

Zan'ne looked at the notes and smiled. "Professor Winthrop sent you? He needs this information distributed? I'll get right on it. Thank you very much."

Kalin nodded to him as he went back to the World Door and returned to Wizard City. He ran to the Wizard City Library and gave Argleston the second half of the notes. The librarian looked at them in surprise.

"What is this? Information from Professor Winthrop? I'll file this right away. Thank you, Kalin."

"You're welcome," said Kalin. He then went back to Nightside and returned to Dworgyn with the latest news. He spent several minutes explaining about the notes he distributed.

"Oh my!" exclaimed Dworgyn. This is some interesting information on Krokotopian Death Items. It's good to hear you distributed the information to the libraries."

"Now what do I do, Professor?" asked Kalin.

Dwogyn thought for a moment before straightening his crooked back. "Hmmm. It appears that those Death Artifacts have some new powers I was not aware of. I'm sure Malistaire knew of these powers. Here, take these notes to the Headmaster. I'm sure he will understand my concern!"

"Of course, professor," nodded Kalin as he left the school and went to speak to Headmaster Ambrose in his office. The elderly wizard was speaking to several assistants when Kalin entered his office.

"Greetings, young Wizard. What brings you here?"

"Headmaster, I went to Krokotopia and found a note about Death Artifacts from there. Do you know anything about them?" asked Kalin. He then handed Ambrose the note. He read it and frowned at the information.

"This news is grave indeed. I had not expected Malistaire to find those Death Artifacts so quickly. Our time is shorter than I expected," sighed Headmaster Ambrose.

"There has to be a way to stop Malistaire…" muttered Kalin.

"Dworgyn will require a book," continued Ambrose. The Dark Grimoire. It has some spells that he will need. Normally I don't like these spells being used. You can see why when you look at what Malistaire is doing with this knowledge."

"Where do I find the Dark Grimoire?" asked Kalin.

"Go to Nightside, near where Mortis stands. There you will be contacted by a Scarecrow. He will give you the Dark Grimoire. After that is done, take it immediately to Dworgyn. Go quickly!" exclaimed Ambrose.

Kalin nodded to him and returned to Nightside. When he arrived, he noticed Dworgyn was already outside, standing next to Mortis the Death Tree. The Death Professor waved and pointed to the spot and once Kalin walked to the exact area, he felt the ground begin to tremble.

"Huh?" gasped Kalin as the Scarecrow emerged from the ground and cackled.

"Greetings, young Wizard," said the Scarecrow. "I understand that you need the Dark Grimoire. This is a very powerful and dangerous book."

"I have no choice. I must take the risk if it means defeating Malistaire," said Kalin.

"I gather that Malistaire's army is growing if Ambrose needs this text. I fear that this book will do you little in light of his new powers…" hissed the Scarecrow. It then shot a spooky blast of spectral energy at Kalin's hands, which transformed into the book.

"This is bizarre…" said Kalin as he showed Dworgyn the Dark Grimoire.

"Dworgyn took the book and opened it. "These are dark times indeed! Malistaire must be building his army faster than we expected. We will all need to be prepared! The hunchback then tore a page from the Dark Grimoire and handed it to Kalin. Much to his surprise, the page turned into a spell card.

"Curse?" asked Kalin.

"Take this spell, Kalin. You will need it in your trials ahead. But beware; stay on the straight and narrow, lest you fall into the despair that Malistaire is creating! All Death students must become strong or they too will turn to the darkness."

"Yes, Professor. I'll keep that in mind," nodded Kalin. He hoped he would be strong enough to overcome the darkness that once cursed him.
