Ok it has come to my attention that I may have not been clear enough on the smaller details of this world of remnant so I'm making this little update to give you the gist of it. First off this is starting as if it is still Yang and Ruby's childhood ruby and yang are still only two years apart, and the majority of characters will still remain the same age, but for some I will modify to suit my needs. Now things will not be the same as the show I'm going for a different approach, and different circumstances some characters will be a bit OOC but I will be balancing it as to not go over board. I will be doing time skips from time to time anything thats not a year or more I will make a note of it but if it is a year or more I will just make a comment on Ruby's age I might change it depends on the feedback I get. My last note is that my method of story telling is not all out in your face at least the explanations arent questions will eventually be answered in later chapters I just think its better this way keeps people interested and guessing at least with me it does. That all I have to say for anyone new to the story, you know what your getting into hope you enjoy!
Prologue
Blood.
The air tainted with its coppery smell, fresh, recent...wrong.
"waaaah"
A child wailing for its mother, a mother that couldn't stand to process the world, her life, her kin.
"Summer stay with me its gonna be okay, we're almost there."
The sound of ragged breathing, desperation, fear muted and dulled upon her senses. Trapped in her own mind replaying the vision bestowed upon her after delivering her baby, her bundle of joy, the same bundle she saw with a twisted smirk on her face, eyes of scarlet that shined in the darkness. Rings of fire the color of silver surrounding her yet not illuminating the rest of her body, her baby staring at her not as a child would its mother but a predator would its prey. Then she smiled licking her lips revealing pure white teeth sharp as knives and a pointed tongue longer than should be possible. Her child reached out grabbing her chin lifting and turning it slightly to the side before whispering in her ear.
"You're mine Summer no one else gets to have you."
Stunned and shakin she barely even registered the fangs sinking in her neck marking her, tainting her, claiming her.
"Mine for eternity."
"SUMMER!"
Jolting awake the first thing she noticed was a white ceiling, looking around she found herself in a hospital bed machinery hooked up every which way monitoring her health. To her right an open window warming the room and her left a grizzly man, her companion and current savior staring at her with concern in his eyes.
"...Qrow?"
"Summer oh thank oum your ok I thought I'd lost you how are you feeling?"
Empty like she was missing a vital part of herself, she hated feeling like this she was incomplete her other half was gone she had to know where, panick quickly rose in her chest as she tried to get up only to be pushed back onto the bed.
"Ruby! Where's Ruby?!"
"She's ok Sum she's with Tai and yang, nothing's wrong with her no broken bones, cuts or bruises, she's safe and sound."
Hearing her baby was safe didn't help her unease but she stopped resisting the gentle pushes and laid back down. She stared at Qrow with eyes hard as steel that wouldn't take no for an answer.
"Give me my baby."
Silence overtook the room nothing but the muffled noises of hospital staff to disturb it. Qrow sighs gazing at Summer uncertain in his approach.
"Sum she's ok you shouldn't be mov-"
"NOW Qrow!"
"...fine ok I'll bring them in."
Qrow left the room in search of yang more likely after something like this yang wouldn't let ruby out of her sight much less allow someone else to take her. Low and behold there she was Yang Xiao Long 3 years old and already glaring anything and anyone who so much as looked in Ruby's direction. As he made his way over she changed focus onto him glaring and if possible tightening her hold on ruby.
"Hey firecracker momma's awake, she wants to see ruby can I take her f-"
"NO!"
"Yang, it's only for a little bit just hand her to m-"
BOOM
Let it be known that Qrow has seen alot of things in his time but a three-year old suddenly becoming an explosive was not one of them. As soon as he got close enough to grab ruby all he saw were eyes so much like his own and a pillar of fire. Flames hot enough to burn a person to ashes in mere seconds did nothing to the two children currently in the center of it.
"YOU STAY AWAY FROM RUBY!"
Qrow has never been so thankful for aura as he was in this moment judging by the look in yang's eyes she fully intended to take him out with that blast. Hospital staff began panicking and Qrow began feeling a sense of foreboding, his instincts screamed at him that if he didn't stop her tantrum they might have alot more problems to worry about than a few policeman.
"Yang calm down listen you can keep ruby but you need to turn down the fireworks we dont want ruby getting hurt mama just wants to see her you can come too!"
At the mention of ruby possibly getting hurt yang stole a glance at ruby resting comfortably against her chest slowly rising from her slumber due to all the commotion. Finding Qrows words unfounded she remained in place flames fueled by her anger until she felt a head cuddle onto her shoulder and a bite her neck.
"Ngh!"
Flames instantly dissipated and yang fell to her knees holding Ruby closer to her body as she nipped and sucked. One thing that always confused Qrow about Ruby's birth was that she was born with a full set of teeth that were unnervingly sharp she had a tendency to bite yang or summer.
"hah...ruby...stop."
Qrow wasn't sure what he was looking at yang looked much too flustered anyone her age had any right to be and ruby at only a year old to cause such a reaction, he violently shook his head he feared his sanity if he continued that line of thought. Odd as the situation was yang had calmed down and ruby stopped sucking on her neck leaving a few marks and little bruise, now all he had to do was get them to summer before security came he would leave that to Tai seeing as he was probably in the restroom.
Summer was getting impatient he said ruby was ok, he said she was with Tai and Yang, why was he taking so long to get back to her. She was just about to get up herself before Qrow came into the room with Yang in tow holding ruby, Summer wasn't surprised to see Yang knowing full well yang wouldn't want to let go of Ruby without a fight.
"Hi mama me an ruby came to see you"
The atmosphere of the room changed from anxious borderline hostile to calm, serene, and loving Qrow was absolutely floored by the change and a little offended all he got was negativity just trying to talk to them but now they were all mush mush, bit unfair if you ask him.
'Women' he thought
Wallowing in his inability to understand women Qrow didn't notice the pointed looks both summer and yang were giving him, at least until yang huffed and cocked her hip to the side, he imagined had she not been holding ruby she would have her hands on her hips.
"oh right right my bad up we go, you two are heavier than you lo-ouch"
Summer laughed at qrows misfortune 'honestly he should know better than to comment on a girls weight' while she cuddle with her children.
"Do be careful qrow you might end up with more bruises than me" she said with a smirk while qrow mumbled something about demon spawn.
Qrow smiled at the girls and their mother if not for the hospital bed and machinery you'd never think anything was wrong. His smile quickly turned into a frown he needed to know what happened in the forest and who was responsible, that was no grim attack cuts too clean and precise, the 20 or so dead bodies, and almost no blood he'd have to confront her about it later for now he'd take solace in the fact they were both alive.
"QROOOOOOOW!"
Or maybe hightail it out of there as fast as he could, quickly qrow hugged the girls kissing each of their foreheads and jumping out the window right as a raging taiyang burst into the room.
"GET BACK HERE BIRDBRAIN IM IN THE MOOD FOR SOME WINGS TONIGHT!" tai yelled as he jumped after qrow.
"Hey tai really appreciate that solid you doin for me paying for the damages and all that but see i gotta run busy busy busy you know how it is bye!"
Tai would chase qrow all the way back home while the girls laughed enjoying their antics.

Screams in the dead of night, the sound of fear, mutilation, mauling.
"PLEASE PLE-AAAAH!"
*Squelch*Thump*
"You failed your mission I do not tolerate Failure!"
Swish*
"Mistress we can send another detachment immediately if you would like"
"No we've played our hand let them play theirs, they know someone's after them they would be fools to not suspect me. Let them play their game"
The woman turned to a screen playing the end of the massacre of her henchmen on a constant loop, her men ripped to shreds, disemboweled, drained dry but no assailant in sight, none but a bundle of clothes held in a woman's embrace. A baby, a toddler with glowing red eyes and a smile on her face as the men explode in guts and gore, spikes of deep crimson burst from their body only to be drawn into the child.
"You mortals trifle with power beyond your comprehension, you've stolen my child and intend to keep her from her mother, you will pay for your insolence be it by my hand or hers."
