Chapter 7

First training and journey to Dantee's Freezer

Spyro's point of view

"What happened here?" Topanga asked.

"This is what Cynder have done," Ignitus explained. "She have put all the islands under her iron rule."

"I wanted to see where I've come from, but I didn't know it's going to be like this." I replied.

"Yeah, no offense this place is a bit of a dump." Said Sparx.

Alanna glared at him and said. "You live here too Sparx, there will be a way for this world to be back to normal!"

"Ooh, sass from my cuz." Said the guy. "I forgot to mention my name, is Griph Draco."

"This was once our home Spyro." Said Ignitus. "Together we can make it our home once again... reclaim what's rightfully ours."

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"What I mean is that my time for heroics is past... but with you and your friend's help, we might be able to beat Cynder." He answered.

"I-I can't Ignitus, but you and Alanna did told me what I am." I said feeling doubt.

"You can Spyro, you can. You are a purple dragon... a very special creature, and Alanna is a hybrid, a mythical being." He replied. "You both have given me hope again. Now it's time to give hope to all of them."

We looked over to where the islands were, all in danger and in need of saving.

"If this is the way to learn where I've come from then, I'll do it." Alanna said. "I'm not afraid to go into this type of danger. Spyro, are you with me?"

"I don't know how much help that I can be Ignitus but I'll try..." I said then I fixed my words. "I'll try!"

"Good, that's all I can ask, now..." He said. "Come with me all of you, I have something to show you."

We followed him back into the temple, to where the room with the statue was. I had no idea what this was until the statue started to sink.

Topanga's point of view

At least I understood that a world like this could possibly have magic, good thing that we stood near the side otherwise we would've been stuck there until the statue rose back up.

"Huh, this is surprising." Said Dan.

"Best field trip into saving the world ever." Alanna said.

"The style you both used earlier is crude, archaic, and obvious, but you got the job done." Ignitus said. "Not bad, considering you haven't been taught anything about what it means to be a hybrid and a dragon."

"Thanks," I replied. "I think."

"But if you're going to have a chance to beat Cynder and her army. You both are going to need to learn a lot more."

"Oh good," Sparx said in a sarcastic tone. "School."

"Unlike any school you've ever known, young friend. Now... it's time to unleash the true self within you." he replied.

Alanna got her sword ready for her turn.

"Each of the guardians is a master of an element." He explains. "I as you may have surmised, am master of fire. Pay attention and you may be someday too, let's begin.

Alanna and Spyro practiced on their basic fighting skills then went onto their elemental skills like Spyro's fire ball and Alanna's icy storm. Since Spyro is done with his first lesson, it was Alanna's turn to learn about her element.

"Ice can help on any given occasion with their master's command. This icy element is used to slow enemies and give a way for others to cross." He explained. "However, learning this from a different Ice guardian, I'll show you his teachings."

Alanna summoned a small ice shard in her hand.

"This one is an easy learning, you can summon an icy storm when you have enough control of it." He continued. "You'll become a master of ice, so will others in the future."

After Alanna's lesson Dan was able to have his turn since he has a couple of brass knuckles, he was also given an element of his own wind. When it was my turn, I didn't know anything about fighting but I tried my first attempt by tackling a dummy down.

"Screw it." I mumbled.

Then I took out a kitchen knife and stabbed at it, it turned into gems after.

"Hey, I remember using that." Alanna said.

"Well, it's better than getting punched in the face." I replied.

After I figured it out, I also earned my own element as well, light and water.

"What dragons are we gonna look for to teach us this?" Dan asked.

"You'll see." Ignitus said. "But for now, we're done for the day."

The statue rose up back into its place and we followed him to where a small pool is. Sparx touched the water with his tail as Ignitus placed his head close enough for him to be above it.

"So, what's in the pool big guy?" Sparx asked.

"As you may know, some dragons can see visions." He explained. "Thoughts, visions and dreams are seen in this pool. What I do see is Volteer is on Dantee's freezer."

"That's extremely cold." I said.

"Then you two should stay behind, me and Spyro will look for him." Alanna said.

"True that humans can't live without proper materials." Ignitus replied. "Alright then, while you two are looking for Volteer I'll see what I can do to find for the others."

"Sounds good enough." Alanna replied.

"But how do we get there?" Spyro asked.

"We have wings, what else are they here for?" Alanna asked. "It's one thing that Sparx can do all the time."

"We'll I'm glad you asked." Ignitus answers Spyro's question.

"Why are they smiling?" Sparx asked. "I don't like it."

A few moments later and this happened outside on the balcony, Alanna was the first to learn how to fly, apparently, she had a hand-made flight harness for her in her bag.

"This might not fit him but it's Spyro's turn." Alanna said.

"Flight is much different for some species of dragons." Ignitus told us. "Now, close your eyes and take a deep breath... And empty your mind"

Spyro did, this may be a weird way, but I'll be surprised that it worked. After a few moments it worked we saw him starting at a few inches off the ground.

"You can fly..." Ignitus said with a surprising look.

After that Alanna started to fly and they both took off leaving me, Dan, Griph, and Ignitus alone so we can look for the others.

Spyro's point of view

We both flew through the air good thing Alanna has her eye because we could get lost in the new places we've never been to.

"Hey look, they're flying!" Said Sparx. "Welcome to the club big guys!"

"You mean the annoying pest club?" I asked.

"No, the flying club you smart aleck." Sparx answers.

"We could do this all day!" Alanna shouted. "WOOHOO!"

We flew through many parts of different small islands while avoiding the apes who were launched from cannons, apes on flying steeds, and other things, we're lucky that none of it showed Cynder. We finally made it towards Dantee's freezer after picking off small parts of Cynder's army, we were nearing the land but I didn't find a smart way to land.

"Dantee's freezer is a desolate artic expanse that's littered with the machinery of war..." Ignitus explained to us before our journey. "Soldiers and weapons frozen forever in the posture of destruction. You must find Volteer before he's lost forever."

"Spyro! Try to copy what I do." Alanna shouted. "Just swoop down and land on your feet!"

After that Alanna landed safely on the ground I panicked and I fell onto the ground instead. I got up off the ground.

"Are you ok?" Alanna asked.

"Yes I'm fine, thanks." I answered.

"Whoa, auntie's right, this might be too cold for them." Alanna said. "This might not be cold for me though, I feel so alive with this temperature! Let's go find this Volteer and get out before Cynder comes."
