Remus looked at the nurse and then to the man who was smiling at him. Remus didn't trust that smile. "Hello, Mr. Lupin. This is Benny. He's your social worker. He is going to help you find a new home," Remus stared at the man-Benny. He was middle-aged with black hair and brown eyes. He was tall and the way that he was walking reminded Remus of his father. Remus closed his eyes and looked away to not show them the tears that were threatened to fall. The nurse sighed and walked over to Remus's bed and smiled at him when his eyes open. Remus looked at Benny and waved. "Remus doesn't speak," the nurse said to Benny who nodded and walked back to the door. "I'll leave you two alone," she said walking out of the room.
Remus looked at Benny who decided to sit down next to Remus's bed. "Hello, Remus, can you tell me about yourself?" Benny asked looking at Remus who was already writing. When he was done he showed him.
"My name is Remus John Lupin. I'm sixteen. I like to read and um." Remus's writing cut off. Benny hummed.
"Well, have you meet friends when you started school, if so do you like to hang out with them?" Benn asking writing something down. Remus raised an eyebrow and brought his hand up to his chin with a small smile. He shook his head as he started to write something down.
"I made friends," Remus wrote. "But I haven't had the chance to hang out with them because of…" Remus's writing cut off again. He then ran his hand over his face and then froze. His breathing got faster but Remus didn't move. Benny didn't call to him at first nor did he move ether.
"Remus?" Benny calling standing up in his chair before he looked around his bed looking for the call button. When he found it he waited nervously. "Remus it's ok. I'm here, just breathe. Everything will be alright, just breathe alright," Benny told the scared Thirteen-year-old.
A few minutes later the nurse ran into the room and put her hands on Remus's arms. "Mr. Lupin, can you hear me. You need to breathe alright," she told Remus who nodded and started to breathe with her. He calmed down a few minutes later. Remus shook his head and closed his eyes sadly.
"I'm sorry," he wrote looking down to his notepad. The nurse and Benny shook their heads.
"It's not your fault Remus," Benny said slowly and gave him a small smile. Remus let out a calming breath before he smiled a little and looked down at his notepad and wrote:
"My new friend is in this hospital. His name is Sirius, which is a weird name, but I like it. He is here with his little brother. I feel bad for him," The nurse and Benny smiled at Remus before the nurse walked out of the room again, but Remus wished that she stayed. However, he felt safe right now he knew that he would come back but for now, he can enjoy this moment. Remus closed his eyes and looked at Benny who nodded with a small sigh.
"Sirius, that is a weird name, but the cool ones are weird," Benny said to Remus who smiled at him and laughed silently.
"He…he's nice," Remus said quietly before he put his hand over his mouth and looked around. Benny watched him with concern. Benny understood why this poor boy didn't speak.
"It's going to be ok Remus. If you want you can write about your new friends," Benny said to Remus who smiled and started to write.
