There is no such thing as meaning in this world. A rock is a rock. A human is a human. Nothing more. There is no purpose in pursuing your dreams. There is no purpose in granting these childish wishes. Underneath the hope of man lies dread. We lie to ourselves. We tell ourselves that there is always a path. That there is always light at the end of the tunnel. It's all a lie. A sick lie, created by ignorant fools who blind themselves to the truth. There is no meaning to life in this world. The only constant in this world is death. So, let's all just sing a song of nihilism as we dance within our own ignorance. There is always destruction with life, but life only leads to destruction.
-at port carter-
A few days later, the new Port Leader Quinn calls for Squad Rose to hold a meeting.
The tile floor causes their feet to squeak as they walk and sit down with an empty seat at the head of the table.
"Hildreck isn't here..." Nana says.
Quinn sits forward in his seat. "He received my message... It was his decision not to be here. Now, the reason I called you here is to discuss a plan I came up with about a week ago."
"So we're just going to start without hi-"
"This is urgent news captain. The sooner we discuss this plan the better. I'll fill him in later."
"So, what is it you wanted to talk about?" Kaitana asks.
"The plan consists of two key factors. We need to know if Nana can link with an Aragami. If so, then we need to use her as some sort of catalyst... if my theory is correct Fenrir has the ability to control these beasts. And with that ability he will bring about a devouring apocalypse."
"Really?! That means they attained a singularity..."
"Correct. I was looking through my father's files once again. And it was disgusting to say the least... Not only did he make two clones of my mother. There is a good chance that they're actually not human... But humanoid Aragami containing singularities." Quinn says with regret in his voice.
"You're... There's no wa-"
Messiah bombards through the room screaming in rage.
"WHO?! WHICH ONE OF YOU DID IT?!" He yells while wreaking havoc in the room.
Kaitana uses a chair to put distance between the two. "HEY! Calm down! The hell is wro-"
Hildreck grabs Kaitana by the collar. "YOU! Expect ME to calm down?! You think...! You think I can trust you three?! Is that it?! ENOUGH OF THESE TWISTED GAMES! WHICH ONE OF YOU BASTARDS KILLED MY SISTER?!"
Nana puts a hand on Hildreck's shoulder. "And you think we'd d-"
He brushes her hand from his shoulder. "Get your filthy hands off me! And yeah... I do! To think that the only people I could trust in this world... Would betray me! WOULD BETRAY ME! JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE! I... I gave my life for you three... I gave you my everything! And all you did" *sniff* "was stab me? YOU STABBED ME IN THE DAMN BACK! I... I loved you all... You gave me a home. And...! To think that I... AAARRRGHHHHH!"
The room stays silent as he continues his tantrum. His face covered in tears with his skin blood red.
"So, no one is going to say anything? Nothing at all..." -he picks up his scythe and bolts towards the door- "You all... Are now my enemy..."
He walks out the door as Nana attempts to follow him. Quinn closes the door which shuts off her exit.
She looks Quinn in the eye. "Quinn... Why are you in my way...?"
"To stop you. You understand how important you are, right? He'll come back aro-"
"Quinn, I've had ENOUGH of your bullshit! You're the one who doesn't understand ANYTHING! While I sensed everything he felt! Quinn he's... alone... He's sad and he feels betrayed... But you! You've been silver spo-"
"SHUT UP! BOTH OF YOU!" Kaitana yells.
"It's... It's too late now to chase him... Besides, do you think he'll listen to anything we have to say if he thinks we killed his sister?!" Kaitana lectures.
They all take deep breaths as they sit back down to continue their discussion.
"I, uhm... As I was saying... Well, now that THAT happened, I'm guessing that sometime last night Fenrir sent an assassin to retrieve the singularity... This just feels like... some sort of sick game. Plan A flew out the window and now it's time for plan B. Nana, have you always had the ability to sense the feelings of Aragami and humans?"
She nods in response. "When it comes to Aragami, all I can feel is some sort of static and a general emotion... But with humans I can sense everything."
Quinn nods. "Good... Now, the plan itself is simple. If we can get you close enough to Fenrir who can control the Aragami and you have the ability to link with it. Then we could possibly use you as a catalyst to bring eternal peace. After doing even more research I found that Fenrir is the God of vengeance in Norse Mythology. As I said before, if the aragami is anyway related to the actual God. It should have some sort of rational. You provide comfort for its hurt and pain and maybe... just maybe establish a link. Sound simple?"
Nana and Kaitana both shrug in confusion.
"You said it was simple, but I don't think I could've come up with a plan so confusing." Kaitana says.
"And this plan relies on a lot of ifs... Is this realistic?" Nana asks.
Quinn slams his hand on the table. "it's not! But it's the only plan we have. I need your commitment... Can I count on you two?"
They both nod reluctantly.
Kaitana stands up and walks towards the door. "It wouldn't be the first time I've had to stop a devouring apocalypse..." She says as she laughs nervously.
Nana follows her out the door. Leaving Quinn in the meeting room sitting in complete silence. He grabs at his hair out of stress as he slowly breaks down.
"Why...? Just what the hell is wrong with me?! I can't keep this act up forever..."
"There is absolutely... no way... that this plan... will work."
-inside of Nana's room-
Inside of the room Nana lies on her bed. She stares at the ceiling while contemplating future events. In an attempt to clear her mind, she meditates in dead silence.
-inside of Kaitana's room-
Inside of the room Kaitana lies on her bed. The stress continues to eat away at her as her eyes slowly close. Signaling her nightly slumber.
-inside of Quinn's room-
Books, clothes and all sorts of things are flying across the room as Quinn's sanity begins to waiver.
"I'm... so scared. I've committed so many sins within the past week. Why? Why am I putting up this façade? None of this is me... NONE OF IT! I just... want to go back to when father was alive... Maybe I just can't let go... Withstanding the trials and tribulations of the world was all for nothing. Anicus Dei... for what?"
He collapses on the floor.
-miles away from Port Carter-
The high wind speeds pick up mountains of sand as Messiah struggles to stand on two feet.
"Just... Why? Why am I all alone? I did no wrong... I cherished my bonds... Why? God? What did I do to deserve your wrath? Something... Someone...! Please...?"
He starts to cry as his knees hit the ground.
*sniff*
"What... did... I... do...? I don't want to be hurt anymore... I just want to be happy. Why was I betrayed...? I want to be... held. I just want to feel someone else's heartbeat..."
"I have nothing..."
He passes out as an unknown figure appears beside him.
"Target number 2 confirmed alive... Yes... Mhm... Yes sir. I'll bring him back alive."
