It had been a few days that Frisk had stayed with Rose and Toriel and the three had become quite close, almost like a family. But there was something Frisk had distanced herself from talking about. Not even to Toriel, who she treated as a second mother. The memory of her foster mother calling out to her lingered for a long time and even now the man that started her new adventure haunted her subconscious. Frisk had gotten accustomed to the other monsters that lived in the ruins. Avoiding the ones that seemed even the tiniest flirty like the moldsmalls. Though they were more instinctive than conscious most of the time. Other times Rose would scare them off with his thorns.

One day Frisk wanted to ask why did they stay in such small ruins and was there other places to visit? Toriel sighed as that question was a hard one to answer.

"My child do you know the history of Humans and monsters?" Frisk gave a head shake no as they pulled a seat over to listen. Toriel gave another sigh before a certain flower popped his head from behind her shoulder. "What history mom?" Toriel glared at the flower and picked him up and placed him on her lap. "Why are you still up Rose? It's 11:35 at night young man. You are too young for this kind of history lesson." Rose gave a loud whine as he was given to Frisk and headed back to his room. "Don't try to make mom mad Rose. I would hate to see her angry at you." Frisk warned as she gently patted his peddles once again. That always seemed to calm him down now, now that Frisk came to their world. Falling asleep in his pot Frisk smiled as she closed the door behind her. "Now where were we?" Frisk spoke as they sat back down. Toriel smiled and thanked Frisk for taking care of Rose.

"Always kind as ever Frisk. There was a time that monsters were too, and NOT the way they are now." Toriel began as she pulled out a book hidden behind her normal text books.

(A/N: No, it is not a dirty mag it's a history book. The king band history lessons to focus on the lewder things.)

"A long time ago Humans and monsters had a special bond with each other. At times a special soul bonding would happen, that surpassed a level of friendship." Toriel turned to the next page before going on. "When that would happen monsters would devote their love for that human or monster for the rest of their lives." Frisk listened carefully as she noticed Toriel give another heavy sigh and rubbed the space between her eyes. Looking back up she continued reading. (Remembering the friends, she had lost.) "However, Humans took advantage of that weakness of our souls and enslaved and killed a lot of us."

"We monsters ran away to this mountain where we sealed ourselves away from humans. We made a choice to never fall in love with humans again." Toriel then smiled as she looked at Frisk with a warm smile. They never said to love unconditionally, like a mother and child. Placing a hand on Frisk's knee she looked back to her book.

"Locked away in the mountains core somehow more Humans found away past our barrier and fell into the ruins. So, the king made a decree. To sacrifice the sinful lustful souls of the fallen humans to make our weak barrier strong.

This left Frisk understanding why she couldn't leave the ruins. With one more question Frisk hesitated to ask her monster mother.

"Mom where do you and Rose end up in this story?"
