Author's Note: August 1, 2021
It has been a long time since I have worked on this story. To be honest, I admit that when I started, I had no real direction on where to take it. I had some very premature and vague ideas, but I could not figure out where I wanted it all to go. This led to a lot of difficulty writing and frustration as I tackled the plot of this story. Needless to say, I dropped it with little intention of returning to it giving up as I could not for the life of me figure out what I was doing. However, I recently got back into reading some VA fan-fiction and it reignited my love for this series. I am in the process of re-reading the series and, at the moment, I have paused at Blood Promise. I recall something similar happening after my first read through as I got over the events during the final chapters of Shadow Kissed.
After spending some time thinking and digging out my old notes, which I always keep, I fell back in love with the story I had planned out for you guys. Reading through my thoughts, scenes, and the plot points made me want to continue and so I have decided that I want to try to finish this for both me and for you guys who have given me such support on this story. I have been working on figuring out different aspects of this story and, while it is no where near complete, I feel I have a solid groundwork and outline to follow now. I have mapped out some chapters and events and there are still some large gaps in which I need to fill and events to plan out further before I feel comfortable committing it all to word format. There are still many things I need to work out and I ask for some patience as I try to make this story as best I can. My original scenes that I had crafted years ago, some of which you never got a chance to read, are still intact and I have been writing new scenes and coming up with new ideas along the way. Music has been a big help to me, as always, and sometimes acts as my inspiration.
I must spend some time reading this story through and doing some light revision and editing on the previous chapters. Having thought this story through more, there will be some subtle changes to those chapters, but the contents and events within them will remain the same. Knowing me, I will embellish them, adding details and making them longer. I thought of taking the story down altogether and simply re-posting it, but I thought that was a bit of a waste as you can easily edit and re-post chapters. I want to complete the first part of the story first before I start posting anything, however. The first part includes Rose's rescue from Dimitri, which I know you guys were all eager to have happen. I am almost there and have the majority of those chapters mapped out. There are only two chapters in that part that require some more planning, so I hope to have it all ready soon.
I debated writing this Author's Note for weeks and had started and scrapped it several times before deciding to just go through with it and post it. I have been reading a lot of other VA fan-fiction and reviews and I suddenly feel extremely connected to this community. As a result, I wanted to post this to gauge the interest in my continuation of this story. I would love to hear what you guys think.
