Why hello everyone. Here is the next chapter, I truly hope you all enjoy it.
...
The cramped quarters of the poor outer rings of the Soul Society had grown even more so. An influx of souls had arrived not long after the defeat of Aizen. The reason behind the unnatural amount of souls flooding their rundown outer ring was unknown but did warrant an investigation. The divisions sent out Shinigami to round up each of these new souls and question them. Within the first 20 souls a clue had become apparent. Karakura Town. Karakura Town was where nearly every soul had been located when they died. Once they found all of the individuals who died in Karakura Town they began to map out where they last remembered being when they died. The map quickly began to show a path leading from one area of the town to another. Not one soul was out of the area where the rest were. Of the 24,947 citizens of Karakura Town, 2,792 citizens had suddenly died. Toshiro Hitsugaya and Rangiku Matsumoto led the investigation once it became known that Karakura was involved since they were one of the groups who knew the most about the town.
Only one of the new arrivals that hadn't died in Karakura Town were suspicious because he could not be placed anywhere. He had no memories at all. He couldn't even provide them with a name. He had short black hair that framed his face that ended just barely against the nape of his neck. His eyes were a piercing green color. His reiryoku was vast in the amount he contained as such a new arrival. He was an anomaly. The Tenth Division Captain knew this soul would make a great Shinigami so he gave him a choice: he could either join the Tenth Division and have his schooling and training covered by the captain himself or he could go back and live in the outer ring where they had first found him.
…
"What surveillance feed?" Urahara laughed nervously. It wasn't common knowledge that he had cameras set up inside the basement, but somehow Halibel knew they were there. She stared at him until he gave in. The moment of awkward silence was ended by an exasperated sigh from the retired Shinigami. "Fine! Follow me." He led Halibel, Gikon, and Uryu over to his workstation and pulled up the desired feed. Finding the videos was easy because he had been watching them prior to anyone's arrival. He milked every bit of information that he could from them videos.
Unlike a normal camera, that could be bought at a home improvement store, Urahara's equipment was special as it had been designed by him to observe and analyze and measure reiryoku and the spiritual forms of the owners of the reiryoku. They all watched from the moment Orihime snapped and attacked Urahara to the moments just after she came to after having gone through the transformation. Urahara had skipped the time in between when she was passive because noting happened at all during that time. The phantom versions of Orihime were slightly visible to the cameras but only for a moment as they quickly merged with Orihime's spiritual form, but all that was seen of them was a shadow and blinding light version on the screen.
Halibel had no clue what to make of the human and what she became. But she was sure that she was not human, hollow or quincy. And she was certain that she was not an arrancar in any means of the term. She was something entirely different and that brought a tinge of fear to Halibel's heart. Halibel believed the appearance of a cable of reiryoku that extended from the hollow hole of Orihime's heart may be related to the hunger she was experiencing. If her theory was correct, then Orihime's hunger would only going to progress faster as her reiryuko had formed a cable leading from her to some other place and a large amount of her reiryuko had just disappeared without a trace.
Light chatter followed between Urahara and Halibel. They came to the conclusion that they needed to review Aizen's journals and see if there was any useful information contained in them. Halibel left via portal and returned to Hueco Mundo. Before heading to Aizen's old study she went to find Orihime. She found Mori in the process of training said enigma. His frustration was rising as the smoke was streaming out of his small form. Orihime was apologizing for having lost her hold on the training sword for what seemed to have not been the first or second time. Halibel left the two and isolated herself in the study. But she hadn't left before she was noticed by Orihime. With the newly retrieved training sword in hand, Orihime turned to look at the doorway where Halibel had been standing. She was walking away when Orihime saw her back retreating into the shadows of the doorway.
"Pick up the pace. It shouldn't take you all day to get the sword." Mori shouted impatiently. His arms crossed over his chest and tapped his foot.
"Sorry!" Orihime shouted back as she jogged back.
"Enough apologizing and just get this right!"
The training went on for another three hours. Mori grew to frustrated to continue so he decided it'd be best to assign her 'homework' so to speak. She was to practice her form and strikes until her arms were aching and then to continue till she no longer could raise the sword. Orihime didn't like the idea of that but she saw no reason to say anything. She just wanted to sit in one spot and just be since her emotions were all over the place. One moment she felt numb to the world and the next she felt all her emotions return. This was no way to live. She wished they'd just settle for one or the other. She returned to her room and instantly began the homework. Once her arms ached and would no longer grip the sword, she summoned the fairies of the Shun Shun Rikka. Ayame, Baigon, Hinagiku, Lily, Shun'o and Tsubaki flew out of the clips in her hair and settled with her on the bed.
"Orihime!" Joyful shouts came from most of the spirits.
The gruff voice of Tsubaki was heard amongst the cheerful shouts. "what do you need?" He asked knowing there was a reason for this summoning.
"Is something wrong with me?" She asked sounding timid and unsure. This was different from any of the other times she'd been less than happy when talking to them. Orihime's hands rested in the lap as she leaned against the wall and looked towards the window across the room.
"No you have nothing wrong with you." Tsubaki flew up to her face and touched her cheek. "You and your powers are just…" He looked for the words. "Evolving. What you experienced triggered a change in you that was meant to happen at another time." This made her feel less stressed, but she still felt off.
"Everything will be okay!" Chimed in Lily as she and Shun'o flew from their spots on the bed to lap.
"You just have to train with it just like you did with us." Ayame flew to Orihime's lap as well with Baigon in tow.
"How do I even train something that I don't even know a thing about though?" Orihime asked, lowering her gaze to look at the small spirits before her. Her nails clenched into the backs of her hands as her grip grew tighter.
"Close your eyes and breath deeply." Tsubaki instructed. Orihime followed his instructions. Tsubaki waited until Orihime had completely relaxed before providing her with his next order. "Focus on your reiryoku and feel how it cycles through your body and around you." He flew to a open pot on her lap and relaxed. The spirits of he Shun Shun Rikka could feel her emotions and were affected by them just as much as she was.
"Feel deep inside of you and find the source of your reiryoku. Focus on it and you will find what you need." Hinagiku supplied as he laid himself out on Orihime's pillow.
It hadn't been long until Orihime felt for what he'd referenced and felt her body tingle lightly as she fell into a trance like state. The darkness behind her eyelids soon danced with shades of green and blue as green grass appeared before her with a lightly cloudy blue sky. A deep pond was off a ways to her left and in the field before her was the two forms of herself that she had seen not long before.
"You've finally came. We were wondering when you'd arrive." The light version said as she crossed her arms across her chest. She was obviously angry.
"I'm sorry. I didn't know how to find you." Orihime took a step towards them. They felt so far away despite being so close. How was she to treat them. Were they on the same level as a teacher? Maybe she should treat them as friends? Or would it be more appropriate to treat them as siblings?
"Your putting too much thought into this." The arrancar like version of Orihime walked to Orihime and placed her hand on her shoulder. "Instead of trying to figure out how to treat us you should be figuring out why you don't have us in when you're awake." Orihime nodded with a small apology.
"How do I do that?" Orihime looked between the two and at the empty spot on her hip where their zanpakuto should be resting. Hilt and Blade were no where to be found. The arrancar-esk Orihime led the way to the body of water where she knelt and let her finger touch and disturb the surface. In the wake of the ripples a familiar scene played out.
The crystal-like water showed a scene that was fresh on Orihime's mind. It showed her standing there, in the sands of Hueco Mundo, at the battle between Ichigo and Ulquiorra and she was shouting 'I reject' over and over again. She had been trying to heal Ulquiorra and it hadn't worked. Or at least it appeared to not work. As Ulquiorra's form disappeared the dust floated away in a pattern which split in half and went their separate ways. With a movement of her finger the scene rewound a hair bit and zoomed into the dust as it separated. "We believe it has to do with this moment in time." The darker half of the Shun Shun Rikka Orihime said as she left the scene on a loop. A wind blew as if it were a confirmation. Orihime felt the phantom feeling of her heart being tugged in a different location.
"You need to find the pieces of us that you recklessly lost." The other version said as she glared at Orihime. She was angry that her vessel had let this happen. She blamed her.
"But how?" Orihime turned on her heels and stared at the form with a pearl like glow emanating from her. "How can I find them?"
With a swipe of her hand in the water, the tainted soul piece splashed away the scene and grabbed Orihime's attention at the same moment. "You must gain control of your reiryoku and follow the two leads to where the pieces lay. Once you bring the two together you can complete us. To claim your power before you lose control and rampage with no means of keeping your humanity." She stood before Orihime. She pulled her into a hug. "This is the only thing you can do to be able to find them."
…
Rangiku Matsumoto was surprised by how quick the recruit was progressing. It had only been a month since he joined the other aspiring Shinigami at Shin'o Academy and he has not only caught up with the others, but he was surpassing them. His swordsmanship was impeccable as he picked it up like it was second nature. He picked up Hakuda, Hoho and Kido with just as much ease. She knew that six years of teaching would not be needed for him as he was gaining on the sixth-year students. In his free time, he'd study all the materials he could. He'd finish the books in no time.
Toshiro Hitsugaya already put the paperwork in to get the man assigned to his division where. Toshiro had provided the soul with the name Akira (wisdom) until they found out what his real name was. When time comes to go to the human world for the investigation, he plans to take the man with him. It would be a good opportunity to see if his memories would be triggered by the human realm and he would be a great addition to the team with his excellent observation skills.
…
Kori was surprised when she found what was at the end of the reiryoku trail. She had entered a deep pit where hollows were practically stacked on one another. A massive brawl was in the works and massacre was unfolding before Kori. In the pit of thousands of hollows was a singular point of white. He was humanoid looking with stark white skin and a familiar set of tear marks down his cheek and a pit over his heart.
Hours passed as the battle carried on. Kori wondered if she should interrupt the battle and provide him some aid. She decided to only jump in if the arrancar truly required assistance. Upon the defeat of the last hollow he turned his gaze to her. His eyes void of emotion.
"Who are you?" Kori asked from where she stood. She saw the four on his chest as he walked closer.
"Fourth espada, Ulquiorra Cifer." His voice was just as empty as his eyes. Both of which gave Kori chills.
Kori tells the unclothed Espada, "Come with me," and begins to lead the way back to Hueco Mundo.
