Chapter 5
As Garfield unlocked the door with a key card, he confidently smiled, "Cyborg! I'm home... and I brought company."
The reason why he added emphasis to the word "company", I will never know nor want to. I heard clunking come from a metal door labeled "GARAGE". Blue light was flickered underneath the door as an engine reared to life. Clapping and compliments echoed through the door. The sound of metal clanking metal was filling me ears yet again. The handle wiggled, and its motion was aimed downward. Cristiane was smart. Top of his class, perfect in athletics. Understood what a decent robo-tech would move, work, and sound like. He fell off Father's radar years back after apparently being in a car crash, meaning he knows how it is like to be an actual human.
A six foot it came out of it, "Company you say? Like last week?"
Cristiane's physical features were projected from under all the bionic layering. He was wiping his hands off with a black once white rag, the black substance I assumed was some sort of car discharge. His judgmental eyes looked me up and down, almost surprised to see a girl on Garfield's arm. He attempted to give me a smile that appeared to be forced and not sincere. An arched brow provided some detail about my personality, he was smart. He not only thought, but knew I must be here for a reason. Cristiane wasn't going to stop digging and searching until he found out that I was Raven's sister. And if he found that out, Father would be angry and livid that I couldn't accomplish his mission.
"She's way too beautiful to decide to come home with you." Cristiane laughed, "I am Cyborg. The engineer slash muscle of this operation."
"I'm Altair." I extended my arm for a professional handshake, "Robin said that I could make my way up here, and this gentlemen offered to take me."
I turned my eyes towards Garfield, trying to act lovely and grateful. Cristiane's eyes looked skeptical as they flicked towards me as he attempted to figure me out, "Sure."
Sure? The most teenage disrespectful response other than "whatever". It is meant to fool your stupid gullible mother, yet let's your friends know what you really mean. Sarcasm? Towards me? I thought he was the mature one, but no. He had to try and let me know he was on to me. One thing that I hated almost as much as my sister is false wording.
"C'mon Cyborg." Garfield nudged me towards Cristiane so he could examine me better as if to prove my innocence, but doing the opposite, "Altair's harmless. Just a lost soul looking for some refuge."
"That is actually not why I am here." I tried to look nervous which reminds people of vulnerability (aka pity).
"Then why are you here?" Cristiane asked me, taking a seat on his stool proving that he really could be here all day.
"That is actually between Robin and I. Beast Boy was just kind enough of showing me how to get here for the next time. My feet also hurt really bad." I winced as grasped my heel.
"Here let me show you around the living room area, you look like you could use a seat." Garfield glared at the robot sitting on the stool with anger firing in his eyes.
Cristiane may be smart, but I am smarter.
